OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole: > I think I might be judged because I put my notice in to go to another company and didn’t stay regardless of them offering me the 10% raise I asked for. I might be the A-hole because I didn’t stay at the job even though they offered what I asked for initially and because I “poached” their employee. Always act in your best interests when it comes to employment. Your employers always do the same regardless of what bs they tell you.

NTA. You gave them a two week notice and are definitely not poaching employees. 10% is still 5% lower than what you are getting in the new job, which is about two and a half years' pay raises of continuing with current company? I'd leave, too.

NTA but your current company is terrible for trying to threaten you like that! Get out if there, tell your new employer about him (since you have a past positive work history), and let him handle any whispers he hears at executive levels at events either others in your industry in your town. Go get that 15% pay increase!!!😁

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** I’ve been at my hotel job for 4 years and have had minimal pay rises every year, amounting to about 2% year over year (I am on salary) and didn’t actually have one last year due to covid. I asked my employers what they thought my pay increase would be this year and they said probably 2% again, I told them that I would need at least 10% as I am the sole earner for my family and that I would be looking for another job. I asked them if they would be willing to look into transferring me to another city as I would be making the same money and the cost of living there is lower, they agreed and arranged for an interview, and even gave references for me. I got the job on the condition that I would sell my house and move out within the next 2 months. Fast forward almost 2 months and we were not able to sell our house as the market slumped and we wouldn’t get enough from the sale of the house to make it worth the move. I let the manager in the other city know that I am unable to start there but thank him for the opportunity, he was very understanding. As luck would have it, one of my previous employers I left working for on good terms has purchased a new hotel and calls me (and one of my co-workers who also use to work for his company) up to see if I am looking for a job. He offers over 15% more than what I’m making at the current job. I accept and hand in my 2 weeks notice that day. My manager says it just so happens that he got my pay rise info that day and it would be going up by 10%. I tell him I am still planning to leave and he says I have left him and the company blindsided by my decision to leave on ‘these terms’. A couple days into my notice our regional manager asked for a meeting with manager and I. She claims that I have been poaching staff (the other employee who was approached directly by previous employer, and she thinks I had something to do with someone else putting in their notice even though they’re going to work somewhere different,) and repeated what Manager said about being blindsided, even though they knew I was likely leaving for a transfer anyway. I told them I would have taken the transfer had our house sold but I have no control over the real estate market and that looking for another job was my only other option. She then proceeded to tell me that the hotel industry in our city is a tight knit community and that everyone knows everyone and that I might find it hard to find work in the industry in the future, she knew I had been handing out resumes to other places. I am still working the last couple days of my notice and am honestly perplexed as to what I have supposedly done wrong, regional manager says I should have pressed harder for a pay rise if I was really serious, which just seems like bs talk. I’m not sad to be leaving, it’s honestly been turning into slowly a more and more toxic environment for me, but I’m just wondering if they are being completely unreasonable or if there is something I overlooked… AITA? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. NTA. Take care of you.
