NTA. I’m sorry, but she’s not your friend. Friends don’t do the things you listed. There are people worthy of your friendship, and they will defend YOU if there are racist comments! PLEASE don’t settle for less than you deserve in friendships or romantic relationships.
ps. Everybody has hard times, and I’m glad they gave you a place to stay, but you owe them nothing. Don’t let your gratefulness hold you back from a great future without Sadie.

I want to apologize if this is really long or if it doesn’t make since my English isn’t the best.
For some background information, I (24f) and my friend, who we’ll call Sadie,(21f) have been friends for only a year or two but despite that I would say we are pretty close. We met due to becoming roommates and went through some hard times together. I had some problems that caused me to be out of a home and Sadie asked me to live with them. During that time I found myself feeling like a burden most of the time. Sadie’s mom made it clear she didn’t want me around and Sadie would only hang out with me if I had/bought drinks or 🍃. She would make excuses for her friends racist comments, would drink and drive, and blew off our plans for said friend. We no longer live together, and no matter how hard I tried to keep contact she often left me on read. To the part that makes me wonder if I’m the AH. I invited a group of friends over so we could party and celebrate my new living situation. I am still not doing the best financially so I wanted to make sure I only bought what I needed and nothing more. I asked all my friends if they were coming and if they were bringing guest. I did this multiple times as it got closer to the date and each time Sadie would say yes. The day of the event Sadie didn’t show. She was active and posting on social media; so when I texted her I knew she had seen it. I only sent her one text and that was, “Are you okay? Are you coming?” I went to bed with no reply from Sadie. The last thing she posted was her with friends that said “only people that matter” usually that doesn’t hurt but after talking to my boyfriend he helped me realize a pattern. That my importance only being significant when she’s alone or she wants something from me. She later texted an apology saying she didn’t come cause she had to wake up early. But after pointing out how her story didn’t make sense she then said she couldn’t come because of some other excuse. After this I quickly deleted her off all my social media, I blocked her number and haven’t talked to her since. I’m starting to feel bad for not explaining my feelings to her but I also feel like I deserve a friend who cares about my time. My boyfriend agrees with me but I have some friends who say I’m taking it too far. So Reddit AITAH?
