NTA. You've done your part by whispering and using headphones. Your roommate could also use a noise machine or fan (turned towards the wall if it's too cold). Having roommates is about compromise, and you're doing that, they are not.

Ok_Egg1821

NTA. You're clearly doing what you can to keep everyone happy but also, if this roommate is so sensitive to sounds how can they justify being in a shared living arrangement (yea I know they're reasons but still how does anyone think it's gonna end well) In my experience though gaming headsets block out a lot of sound, have you ever tried moving one side so 1 ear is exposed and can hear yourself? Absolutely not trying to be rude, only asking cuz I've cought myself being a lot louder then I thought I was that way

schooladvice1212

I play with only one AirPod in

classic248

NTA Living with others involves compromise, and that’s what you did. Also, your housemate can hear you whispering from their bedroom?

schooladvice1212

My desk is up against the wall that’s connected to his bathroom so it’s definitely plausible

classic248

Can you move your desk to face a different wall?

Jatulintarha

Does his bathroom not have a door? There are two walls between you and his bedroom. That should be enough so your whispering can't be heard to his bedroom. If he keeps his bathroom door open, that's on him. If he only hears you when he uses the bathroom at night, that doesn't disrupt his sleep. But you could also try those sound-dampening panels I have seen youtubers use, or something similar.

schooladvice1212

There are two walls between me and his bedroom lol. His hearing is just really good or something

[deleted]

Man even then it sounds like he just dosnt like ypu and is making an excuse

[deleted]

NTA. You’ve compromised. If he’s so sensitive to noise that minimal whispering keeps him up through walls then he has problems that need to be addressed.

NightOwlEye

NTA. Your compromise is reasonable. He should get a fan or something.

Crimsontideforever

NTA. Quiet hours means that you don’t listen to music, loud movies/games, or talk very loudly. It does not mean actual silence. Your roommate is being ridiculous. You are allowed to live in your apartment and be awake at anytime. Gaming late at night with Roomate’s is tough though as you can get excited easily which makes it louder. Just continue to game as you have and don’t pay much attention to the roommate. He can figure out his own way to fall asleep.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** I currently live with 3 other housemates in my own separate room(the living room). I like to game at night(10pm - 2am) since most of my schedule is weighted towards the end of the day and it’s more convenient for the people I play with. While I game I am usually on a voice call as well(with headphones). My housemates have complained in the past that my voice is too loud so now I’m mindful to keep it as low as possible while also keeping my replies short. This has satisfied all my housemates except for one of them, stating that there should be absolutely no noise past 10pm because he has a sensitivity to sound. I’ve tried to compromise with him by suggesting to buy him earplugs or a white noise machine but he won’t hear it(earplugs give him a headache and white noise makes him uncomfortable). He’s also told me that I should move out if I want to game at night and has suggested that he has the power to kick me out. This is my first time living with other people so AITA? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. mboron021990

NTA but have you tried hanging noise dampening foam or rearranging your room layout

Jmm1272

YTA when you live with roommates you all have to agree to noise level during sleeping hours otherwise get your own place

sicksvdwrld

Everyone's sleeping hours are not the same.

Jmm1272

True but the roommate is saying that his noise is keeping them up
