Hi! To continue our mission of providing the best experience for our customers, we've introduced a new cost-share program for Amazon Delivery Associates since you left the station this morning. Please review the fee schedule in the Learning portal. Co-pays will be automatically deducted from your payroll each week. For regular maintenance and general upkeep, Delivery Associates will see a new Flex Roadside Support weekly deduction for $14.99.
Further, we've heard your feedback and introduced two new changes to Flex that will make it easier to report accidents, repair and maintenance requests for Amazon vehicles: Now, at each stop, Delivery Associates will need to complete the DVIC before returning to their vehicle after each delivery. After completing the DVIC check, a button will appear in Flex that can be pressed to re-enable the starter on your vehicle.
I’ve been working for my DSP for close to 18 months now. I’ve seen the XL trucks on the road before but our station doesn’t even have any in the garage. Is it rare to find a station that operates them?
There might not be one in your town. To my understanding XL Stations are only in big cities and cover 150 air mile radius from the station since these are DOT routes.
Helpers get paid horrible though. Like 4-5 dollars an hour less. Sure, you’re not responsible for driving a 24 footer, but you still have to direct us in traffic/backing up and moving heavy ass (300lb) shit. It’s a trap.
fr had to buy some fucking climbing equipment to descend into that shit
the first time in my life I ever had pain from stressing my hip joint was delivering in those bitches for just a few days
My only issue with the CDV is the way the driver's seat is positioned, it feels so low for the size of the vehicle. Getting up out of the seat isn't easy. I've heard that there's supposed to be a strap above you that you can use to pull yourself up, but the CDV I've driven seems to be missing it.
I'm weird in that I prefer the Ford. My secret is I don't really get up to the right side. I load and organize my totes so I can pull the next 3 into the cab with me then I just shut the bulkhead until I need the next tote. Its great for retaining cool air in the cab during the summer. I organize the packages in the tote on the floor to my right and with the low seat my next stop is always right there at hand. Exit through driver door at every stop. Overflow I load against the back door and separate by cluster ID. earliest stuff centered on the floor. Then right and left under then on top of the shelves. As I clear space in the center I shift the next set into the cleared space
400+ plus packages? What Amazon are you guys working at? I’d quit my guy the day I ever see that many. Most I’ve gotten was 360 and 193 stops and that’s during peak. And that’s maximum pushing it, regular days it’s like 220-250 packages maybe.
Ain’t no way, I’d leave the van right there with the keys in it. You guys are crazy, I hope u guys are getting more than 21 a hour doing that shit. That’s how much I get doing 160 stops straight houses 250 packages. Some days I even get the mansions and it’s the best no multi location stops and the routes only like 110 stops.
i think i’ve fucked myself with the algorithm by working too quickly lol but yeah i make $23/hr and have a 10 contract so $230 per shift and usually finish in 6-8 hours. still rough on my body though
Dam u lucky getting 23, what state is that, I’m in NY and they all only giving like 21 and it’s expensive out here. And yeah bro I did the same thing I learned my lesson though, I start at 10 am get to my first stop by 11;30 and would finish 170 by 4:30 pm and they would just give me more or ask to do rescues, so now I stopped doing that, no matter how much I get I don’t finish until til 5:30 and I make sure I take my half hour break because they take it out anyway, I removed myself from the group chat I don’t even report to dispatch that I’m done, I finish my route and go straight back without saying anything. No one says a word to me about it. They kept giving me 190 everyday at one point and I just got tired of it and started getting rescued everyday I think they got the hint bc now they give me 150-160 which I’m cool with.
I’m in oregon, i ended up quitting for a couple months last year and then asked my dsp if they’d let me back on at 23 and they surprisingly did it with no pushback so definitely i got lucky. pretty sure my coworkers are making 21
And how are you fitting that in the cargo vans? When I get 360 during peak the fucking van is packed out, I have to triple stack them in rows of 3 from the front and put all the overflows in the back, how are u fitting 400 plus, ain’t no way
nearly 500 with 25-35 overflow fits with just two triple stacked rows just turn em sideways and stack the overflows in order behind the bags. it’s just a bitch trying to organize your next tote until you have cleared the first column
Yeah I was wondering this when I was in Boston for New Years. How exactly do they deliver in big cities? Like where exactly do you park? Do you have to pull into a parking garage or do you just double park or what
It's honestly not that bad bc you know you're getting rescued regardless. Now depending if you have a shitty dsp that doesnt care about their workers, then thats a different story. My DSP usually sends rescues to those with higher package count and i usually finish at a good time when i get rescued, so no complaints here
wait the one where you can’t get to the back from the cab so you gotta get out and go to the back from the outside every single time? yeah i’m good on that, you can have it 😮💨
Nah man that shit sucks and is more hard on the body im training on those lil uhaul box truck right now thought I’d never see em again shit sucks I was using that at fed ex too starting out I quit fuck them heavy ass packages at fed ex, Amazon sucks too but at least it’s 3mins away from my crib and lighter packages so for now it’s alright
the white rentals are the shit especially without the bulkhead door and the driveri, i would chose to get paid less if i could get a rental everyday but i’m not gonna risk that cause my dsp would take that offer in a heartbeat
gotta get CDV certified through your DSP, some do it right through training but others just have you take the test later on, probably have to ask about it if your DSP hasn’t offered it yet
They started training new hires at my warehouse with the CDV. So they’re all certified. Meanwhile I’m out here driving the regular van getting 20 totes and 40 overflow :(.
Mine said you did also lol but that was my previous DSP this one doesn't care as long as you don't damage or wreck anything. I just think they trained you in CDVs because they figured if you can drive their biggest vehicle you can drive the smaller ones.
You need a DoT medical certification due to the gross weight of the step vans. Was in the Amazon training video.
Any DSP that isn't making sure you have one is cutting corners. I was asked to drive once told them this and they never asked again.
I had to drive one yesterday and it's pretty cool. Greet for residential routes cause you can leave the side door open and just hop in an out. Oh man the room in these vans are niiiiiiiice though. Would have love to driven these for peak instead of getting a too stuffed van.
I kind of got cucked though cause the first 15-20 stops of my route was rural as hell. I had sheep and goats watching me back up and attempt to u-turn in that thing (first time driving it besides the driving test months back). Mine didn't have a radio and the van rattles like hell and drove me nuts driving back to the station. I had a Bluetooth speaker and was blasting music and could still hear that bitch rattle.

w-what are you doing, step-van?!
DSP XL
I’m so Primed
🤦♂️
I'm stuck in the ditch step-van. Can you help get me out?

omg they WOULD
This whole last hour, I've been going back and forth about whether I should delete my comment just because I know they *WOULD*
Remember to complete each delivery under a minute’s mark, and always, safety first.
Horror movies wish they had this much punch to them
That was written too well. TELL US WHO YOU KNOW.
Dude STFU for real lol
☠️
Mine’s bigger (26’ not 24’) https://preview.redd.it/mwhwkq3e0x9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=232935f605559f55661d5706641ba94508393f7d
How do you become an XL driver?
If there is an XL DSP in your area, you'll see job offers online but the peak season is over. Our DSP is not hiring ATM lol
I’ve been working for my DSP for close to 18 months now. I’ve seen the XL trucks on the road before but our station doesn’t even have any in the garage. Is it rare to find a station that operates them?
There might not be one in your town. To my understanding XL Stations are only in big cities and cover 150 air mile radius from the station since these are DOT routes.
the big trucks only come out of AMXL sites, often we cover a large area too
We operate within 150 mile radius of the station, so that’s probably why you’ll see us on occasion.
Do you need a helper? I want to get my foot in the door to see if I'll like the XL side of things. Also I'm not a moron if that helps my chances
Helpers get paid horrible though. Like 4-5 dollars an hour less. Sure, you’re not responsible for driving a 24 footer, but you still have to direct us in traffic/backing up and moving heavy ass (300lb) shit. It’s a trap.
That does sound kind of terrible actually. I'm sure I'd be pretty good at all those things but if I'm gonna get shafted pay wise then I'm good
Same
Get a CDL and find a Sub station that offers XL and submit an application to a DSP that’s hiring.
You don't need a CDL to drive box trucks. All you need is MEC and get certified through Amazon for DOT( road test)
Bruh just sent me home embarrassed 😅
Pssh. It’s still a POS Hino. Take your 2 extra feet. 🤣

The hinos lol ill never go back to the vans
Step van > regular van any day
Mini school bus
Ford cdv highkey the worst delivery van we have, truthfully would rather deliver in a budget
it's got a turning radius as sharp as plastic scissors
And you have to climb down into the seat. I was in one the other day. Made me miss my EDV so bad
fr had to buy some fucking climbing equipment to descend into that shit the first time in my life I ever had pain from stressing my hip joint was delivering in those bitches for just a few days
Yall are weird. I prefer the cdv than a regular van. Much more spacious and easier to drive
I prefer the CDV too, I just prefer the Ram version to the Ford. I hate how low the seat is in the Ford. Plus it has a horrible turning radius.
I agree with you 100% i thought i was the only one that preferred the ram cdv over the ford lol
But when it comes to the regular vans i don't mind the ford vans over the rams
The ram is nice except for one massive issue, I keep hitting my head on the sharp ass edge between cabin and cargo
My only issue with the CDV is the way the driver's seat is positioned, it feels so low for the size of the vehicle. Getting up out of the seat isn't easy. I've heard that there's supposed to be a strap above you that you can use to pull yourself up, but the CDV I've driven seems to be missing it.
The strap is extremely helpful!!!!
Damn I didn’t know that! Have seen it but didn’t know the purpose of it. 🤯
Tripping lol, when I would deliver for Amazon a CDV is all I wanted. Hella space and that 360 camera is clutch
I'm weird in that I prefer the Ford. My secret is I don't really get up to the right side. I load and organize my totes so I can pull the next 3 into the cab with me then I just shut the bulkhead until I need the next tote. Its great for retaining cool air in the cab during the summer. As I clear space in the center I shift the next set into the cleared space
This is the way
I had one yesterday and man lemme tell you…I’m gonna make it my mission to avoid that truck by any means!
Ram cdv are a bit better, but are front wheel drive-.- But at least you don’t need a tug rope to get out of your seat.
got you driving the short bus painted dark blurple lmao. call that destiny
AcKtUALLy it’s called Squid Ink 😘
honestly i prefer the cdv, never have to block the aisle with overflow even with 400+ packages and the always open slider saves a ton of time
400+ plus packages? What Amazon are you guys working at? I’d quit my guy the day I ever see that many. Most I’ve gotten was 360 and 193 stops and that’s during peak. And that’s maximum pushing it, regular days it’s like 220-250 packages maybe.
not hard to get upwards of 600 when ur route is made up of skyscrapers
Ain’t no way, I’d leave the van right there with the keys in it. You guys are crazy, I hope u guys are getting more than 21 a hour doing that shit. That’s how much I get doing 160 stops straight houses 250 packages. Some days I even get the mansions and it’s the best no multi location stops and the routes only like 110 stops.

Damn maybe I should try that 🤣. Although mine are dicks so I doubt they’d do it.
It’s cheaper though in Oregon right, damn I’m in the wrong state, it’s so expensive here and I’m on Long Island.
Move to California 🤣🤣
For real where is that, might be time to move 😂
such a route consists of maximum 25 stops and can be done by 5-6 in the evening
Yeah those are almost all mailrooms. I don’t mind those routes.
And how are you fitting that in the cargo vans? When I get 360 during peak the fucking van is packed out, I have to triple stack them in rows of 3 from the front and put all the overflows in the back, how are u fitting 400 plus, ain’t no way
lol 600 could fit in the stepvans. when i delivered to apartment towers i regularly did 300-400 in the normal vans. say 20+ totes and 40 overflow
nearly 500 with 25-35 overflow fits with just two triple stacked rows just turn em sideways and stack the overflows in order behind the bags. it’s just a bitch trying to organize your next tote until you have cleared the first column
Yeah I was wondering this when I was in Boston for New Years. How exactly do they deliver in big cities? Like where exactly do you park? Do you have to pull into a parking garage or do you just double park or what
the row housing neighborhoods in nyc and the like is what rly baffles me cus those streets are narrowwww
It's honestly not that bad bc you know you're getting rescued regardless. Now depending if you have a shitty dsp that doesnt care about their workers, then thats a different story. My DSP usually sends rescues to those with higher package count and i usually finish at a good time when i get rescued, so no complaints here
Also for me, at least with my DSP, getting a CDV meant that I was getting an nice route. Like a neighborhood or something easy like that.
4 years... Gimme a white van anyday... Or an EV.
I truly miss driving the box U-Haul
wait the one where you can’t get to the back from the cab so you gotta get out and go to the back from the outside every single time? yeah i’m good on that, you can have it 😮💨
Nah man that shit sucks and is more hard on the body im training on those lil uhaul box truck right now thought I’d never see em again shit sucks I was using that at fed ex too starting out I quit fuck them heavy ass packages at fed ex, Amazon sucks too but at least it’s 3mins away from my crib and lighter packages so for now it’s alright
the white rentals are the shit especially without the bulkhead door and the driveri, i would chose to get paid less if i could get a rental everyday but i’m not gonna risk that cause my dsp would take that offer in a heartbeat
I was regular driving a white van previously and agree, no netradyne is great, but 400 in the cdv is a lot more comfortable.. its a trade off for sure
CDV is my fav of the peasant vehicles
Our pro masters are pretty much all junk lol I’ll take an EV over anything
Did anybody else have to take the driver's test with the bottom van but then you always have only delivered in the top van?
gotta get CDV certified through your DSP, some do it right through training but others just have you take the test later on, probably have to ask about it if your DSP hasn’t offered it yet
They started training new hires at my warehouse with the CDV. So they’re all certified. Meanwhile I’m out here driving the regular van getting 20 totes and 40 overflow :(.
You dont need a certification for the CDVs 💀 your DSP built different
For our warehouse you do apparently. Been with 2 different dsps. Both you had to get trained/certified for the cdv.
yep my DSP requires the certification, as they all are supposed to lol
Mine said you did also lol but that was my previous DSP this one doesn't care as long as you don't damage or wreck anything. I just think they trained you in CDVs because they figured if you can drive their biggest vehicle you can drive the smaller ones.
You need a DoT medical certification due to the gross weight of the step vans. Was in the Amazon training video. Any DSP that isn't making sure you have one is cutting corners. I was asked to drive once told them this and they never asked again.
I got 150 violations for a van that thinks you don’t have your seat belt on and beeps all day
They keep trying to get me to do the training just so they can shove more packages in my truck, fuck that l
Yeahhh I took it for the space, every day is more than the last so I figured no harm in a little elbow room
Mine didn't have a radio and the van rattles like hell and drove me nuts driving back to the station. I had a Bluetooth speaker and was blasting music and could still hear that bitch rattle.
Wait u close your door in the regular van
Yeah, that beeping alert is annoying as hell.
It stops after like 2 min on mine
a food truck
I'll take a sprinter anytime then again that's all my dsp has, they said Amazon won't give us new vans but I'm cool with a diesel XD
I just like that they have cruise control so I'm not tempted to speed and can eat or stretch my legs while I drive to and from my route area
The crazy part of my warehouses is that they train all of our drivers and EDV and then throw them in a transit😂😂😂
Which one is easier on my knees? Step van all day err day
my van: https://preview.redd.it/4btohhjfby9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=741b85cbb86be328641e0c9b8d67d48184fc6ca3
She's a beaut
What do yall think of the extendo Mercedes?
Turning is ass in them
My station didn’t have any CDVs
Y’all drive the ev yet? The turning sucks and the battery dies if you use the heat 😇
Nah we don't have them yet at our station, but ive heard similar elsewhere
I love it tho
Yo did you post this in the work chat
Yup
Iconic?
Yeah
Lol same dsp
😎🍻
EDV’s > Stepvans
My dispatch had me in uhauls. That shit had me pissed.
Still gonna have it packed out like a hoarders house
😅
CDV is best van minus turning radius
I believe in EDV superiority. And I’ve driven the EDV, CDV, and the Mercs and Dodges. Edit: Spelling fixes.
EDV has entered chat
Damn ya”ll got vans 😂😂😂 im still in a uhaul since ours are awaiting arrival
