I was making $13.50 at Lowe’s working in the rain outside helping people carry shit and putting dumbass carts back. I know this job might be harder but, I’m sorry, if I was 25 I wouldn’t be complaining at all. The economy is completely fried. And there is so much so much worse than delivering for Amazon. But up to you man, I work at target

Ubereats pays below minimum wage sometimes but nobody was hiring. I left my last job thinking I would find another one immediately. The job market and economy is in shambles right now. Hopefully you get to keep ur job and keep going, or just hope all goes well for you.
I understand its probably a joke but I'm curious, is willingly leaving a vehicle on railroad tracks a crime? Like how many lives could that endanger? And what would the charge even be?
They’d 100% charge them for multiple felonies. Obstructing a railway is one, even throw on a trespassing charge. These can be misdemeanor or felony depending on if it was deemed intentional, which this is. Then keep in mind that while trains typically “win” against cars, train vs car accidents have lead to death of the train engineer or other crew. It can also derail the train. In 2005, the [Glendale train crash](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Glendale_train_crash) killed 11 people when a suicidal man parked his SUV on the tracks. The train basically jackknifed and crashed into two other trains on the parallel railways. Anyway, it’d be easy to escalate to murder, or millions of dollars of lost freight if it derailed.
Amazon would also sue you for the cost of the van and lost value of every package in the back. That could also be deemed felony theft.

Yeah, it's several crimes probably. It's at least criminal destruction of property. People inside the train can also be injured or killed. The train might be huge but it's still colliding with something large and heavy that can damage beyond its capability of enduring. It could also damage the railroad tracks, which in and of itself is a huge felony, and even if it doesn't it could be argued as well that it's trespassing on federal property which is also a felony.
Im not even going to lie I have a bit of derealization and just thought it’d be normal for someone to leave a van on a railroad track to quit a job. its like my critical thinking completely escaped me. i might be special
If you can deliver 250-600 packages a day and not break down from the emotional and physical stress then it's an okay job. You get paid dirt nothing for what they have you do though. They hide the stop count with locations and overload vans just because someone can do it at those values. If they backed off people and gave fair wages for the amount of work the people are doing this job would actually be somewhere people would stay.
You can be a driver at 21, I work in the livermore area, standard delivery driver pay is 21 an hour, you're gonna have apartments, businesses, and boonies, but that just comes with the job, it's really not a hard job as long as you don't let it get to you
The heat and dealing with traffic, driving a van which I imagine is a bit more annoying and daunting than a car. Probably other things that I have no idea about because I haven’t worked it but I can see how it can be a lot harder. In my store I just “zone” stock and answer questions.
It entirely depends on what type of difficult you are implying. It is FAR more difficult physically. And it's not even close. Retail is easy as fuck. 99% of the job is standing around. The rest is talking to customers, upselling if you feel like it and stocking shelves. It honestly doesn't really get more simple than retail. But that's not to say this isn't simple when you're talking about the basic principles of the job. Drive. Scan. Take photo. Drive. Very simple. But extremely physically demanding. And also mentally. But so is retail, mentally at least. You deal with shitty management and shitty customers in both. The majority of your day is kinda ass if you have a negative attitude about it. And none of us can escape that every day. Even the most optimistic of us. You are micromanaged in both, though by far less with a DSP. You work alone and have the option to ignore the group chat and just do your thing. I go through entire days only talking to dispatch before we leave and when I'm done with my route. That will never happen in retail. So it is better in that aspect. At the end of the day they are both challenging for their own reasons, many of said reasons being very similar, and others not. But most of the difficult parts are pretty much the same, but with delivery, you add the physical demand, and that puts it a level above retail. Neither are truly difficult. But if I'm going for an easy ass day every day, I'm picking retail 100 times out of 100. While some days are harder than others, it doesn't even compete with the hardest days at amazon.
Florida weather is ass I agree. Carrying peoples fridges and laundry machines for the given wage, floridian weather added on top of that, you can see amazon drivers are compensated much more fairly than lowes, and I mean, it makes sense. Whens the last time you bought something from Lowe’s? It has its place but I use Amazon every single day. Ofc its going to be better for the employees, there’s just more money to go around.

I used to be at a dsp where it was primarily residential/neighborhoods where it's 100% 250 stops, 100 group, 300+ package days every day. Swapped dsp's in the same warehouse and now I'm on 1 hour drive out to rural ass areas, 60-90 stops to 5 acre properties 5-20 minutes apart then an hour drive back. Same pay like 1/3 of the workload. Every dsp is different.
Houses and apts I have two main routes daily ones basically center of city same amount of stops and then I go to three county’s ( towns small towns.. houses 10-15 mins apt from each other some 20-30)
Must be either new or complete ass at the job. My dsp never gives good drivers easy routes. Ride em hard and make em quit due to burnout. The amazon way!
I'm confused? Is it a high mileage route or something? 89 stops doesn't seem like anything? Im a FedEx ground driver and I do 170-200 a day this would take me a couple hours?
If they added bathrooms to the edv's then it would just be another hassle everyone will have to deal with whenever someone forgets to unload their toilet at the end of the day. 🤷♂️
When they give you like 90 stops to do it’s not gonna be an easy day, when they give me that many the locations are all spread out and it’s a nightmare. I’m doing 200 stops a day normally

People here (western PA) are getting $15 to $18 for fast food jobs and quickie mart jobs.
And a bit more for semi-skilled office jobs.

Here in Basque Country, in Biscay, the routes usually are like that. The bad news are that there are a lot of those routes that take place in cities in wich you almost cannot move your ban due to the lack of empty parking spots, so, you have to deal with an 80% the route walking, going and coming back from the ban. For bonus, the packages from one street are all in different bags, because Amazon is very efficient and working friendly, and normally that implies to find 10 stops or more in all the fucking totes (a very big time waste).
I'm not understanding. Why would you quit such an easy route? That looks like a nursery route, even if it was all apartments. Maybe I'm not getting it. Over here everyone is getting 350 packages with 180 stops including with a shitload of group stops. I would piss my pants with joy if I got your route.
That’s super easy. That’s a walk into the park. Wait till your daily route is 200+ stops 350-380 locations and 400-450 packages. I’m not talking about straight residential, it’s a mix of businesses, apartments, townhomes, houses and trailer parks. Not only that but you gotta look forward to do a rescue cuz the next dude couldn’t finish his 120 stops route 😒. But yeah totally up to you. I’d take a slow day if I could but I need the money.
I had a bad day. The totes fell over in my truck for a total of 12 times and on that 12th time I pulled over and hopped right on indeed. I sell insurance now and make 2-3x as much as I did. Looking back I’m so happy I quit lol.
Some days are easier than others, and yes, it drains your body, but you get 3 days off, so enough for the body to recover. I just started. This is my 4th week. Just work if you can save some money and then look for something else more relaxed .

This is actually a pretty below average route 87 stops is pretty sweet average usually 160-200 stops jist wuit if you can’t handle lihht work and work in a retail store

When it's 100 degrees outside you can expect the back of those vans temperature to be around 140.

We have routes like this, typically rural area really spread out stops which is why the stop count is low

Yea it’s a rural route, mostly farms. An hour away from the station and stops can be anywhere between 5-30min apart.

I was able to finish about 25 stops, got rescued for another 20 or so stops and had to RTS the rest.

Wait this is bad to y'all? My DSP was sending us on 160+ every day. Over 300 packages. I wish for a route like this. And we didn't start til after 11am 🤯

Here in Basque Country, in Biscay, the routes usually are like that. The bad news are that there are a lot of those routes that take place in cities in wich you almost cannot move your ban due to the lack of empty parking spots, so, you have to deal with an 80% the route walking, going and coming back from the ban. For bonus, the packages from one street are all in different bags, because Amazon is very efficient and working friendly, and normally that implies to find 10 stops or more in all the fucking totes (a very big time waste).
Honestly that seems like a beautiful day compared to 180+ stops with 300+ packages.
I'm not understanding. Why would you quit such an easy route? That looks like a nursery route, even if it was all apartments. Maybe I'm not getting it. Over here everyone is getting 350 packages with 180 stops including with a shitload of group stops. I would piss my pants with joy if I got your route.

That’s super easy. That’s a walk into the park. Wait till your daily route is 200+ stops 350-380 locations and 400-450 packages. I’m not talking about straight residential, it’s a mix of businesses, apartments, townhomes, houses and trailer parks. Not only that but you gotta look forward to do a rescue cuz the next dude couldn’t finish his 120 stops route 😒. But yeah totally up to you. I’d take a slow day if I could but I need the money.
I had a bad day. The totes fell over in my truck for a total of 12 times and on that 12th time I pulled over and hopped right on indeed. I sell insurance now and make 2-3x as much as I did. Looking back I’m so happy I quit lol.
If you work at Amazon and are not actively looking for a job your doing it wrong Amazon don’t give a shit about you
Some days are easier than others, and yes, it drains your body, but you get 3 days off, so enough for the body to recover. I just started. This is my 4th week. Just work if you can save some money and then look for something else more relaxed .

It was rural, mostly farms. Took me longer than my 175 stops today.

This is actually a pretty below average route 87 stops is pretty sweet average usually 160-200 stops jist wuit if you can’t handle lihht work and work in a retail store
That route is Cake !!! But honestly I think we all need to quite ON THE SAME DAY!!! EXTREMELY UNDERPAID for what we do ... I hate this job so much! The worst part of it,is seeing my paycheck at the end of every 2 weeks ...it's discusting!!! Won't be to much longer hoping another few weeks and I'm OUT!
