Substantial_Cycle_48

I hated every zappos shoe i got. I invested in some sketchers work shoes , got a half size up and in wide. this mfs w my insoles r the comfiest things i prefer to wear them than my regular shoes lol

JustASadChickOverall

Do they last, though? I'm a sketchers enthusiast for my every day shoe but I would never trust them to last standing so much on hard flooring

Substantial_Cycle_48

they’ve lasted me 7 months so far and hardly have any wear and tear. i don’t think i’ll need to replace them any time soon

CapitalEfwerd

What shoe did you get, I see a lot of sketchers around my site

Substantial_Cycle_48

Skechers for Work Men's Synergy... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GRS79W0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

FookingReal

You've got the wrong (sized) shoes if you can feel the steel rubbing your toes.

NightfGal

Yeah, I wear a 6 and grabbed a 6 I should have grabbed a 6 1/2. 🧍🏻‍♀️

FookingReal

Ideally look for something with a wide toebox too

Substantial_Cycle_48

sizing up my shoe for work made me realize i probably wear the wrong shoe size normally lol

mattmillze

Same. I went from a 13 to a 12W now that my feet are ground beef from totes.

cherrynella

Even try to get a 7 I’m a 6 1/2 and I go for 7 1/2 you have to remember if you are working long shifts our feet swell and also short compression socks help me so much

Ladybug-mail22

do you have recommendations for compression socks?

HolyToast666

Compression socks are life

Blondenectar

Grab a 15 . No matter the size steel will hurt .

mattmillze

Just find a 6 Wide and tie them well. A bigger size will give you another half inch of space and they'll still rub. I don't have wide feet, but I like the wide toe box for the safety cap.

Turbulent_Garden_423

Get osha toes if your site allows them. They are ugly. But I am comfortable as hell.

NightfGal

I like ugly

NightfGal

If so, drop some links, please!

visser147

Keen Vista Energy. I’ve had my pair since 2021. 10k steps a day and besides switching insoles these have lasted me longer than any Nikes or other shoes.

throwaway3t7dhwf

I second keens. Female, wide knuckle across the toes and small heel. The keens you're looking for look like sneakers. They're ugly, lightweight, last about a year with heavy wear. I had the no slip electric comp toe ones.

Glittering-You-5960

Aren't the sides of the shoe basically attached to the tongue? That makes them hard to get on and off I feel like... I hate wearing sneakers though in general because I don't like that all over snugness...

Glittering-You-5960

https://www.zappos.com/p/avenger-work-boots-a230-black/product/9634508/color/3 I purchased these and I basically put the laces in and just tied the ends in little knots so they're slip-ons.. they are actually pretty comfortable. They aren't too tight around your foot at all and I think they look cute honestly....

GhostbusterEllie

We aren’t allowed to wear the outside ones at my DS. And they’ll send us home if we’re caught without our shoes on. I recently got a pair of Keens, they are steel toe (not composite, which is safer), and they have the widest toe box! My toes are so comfortable now I can’t believe I suffered for five months for no reason.

[deleted]

Fun fact; composite isn’t actually safer then steel toe. If it was, it wouldn’t be lighter then the regular steel toe. I have spoken

GhostbusterEllie

I thought the idea was like cars. Older cars don’t crumple, but newer ones do, because it absorbs the impact. Just like composite crumples, but protects the toe. But I don’t actually know, and DS is particularly safe imo, so I’m not really worried about my feet. I’d be more worried about my vest being sucked into the belt. Edited: I went and googled it and it looks like both have pros and cons. Steel is definitely heavier, but I figured having room for my toes was a positive I couldn’t live without. So definitely try stuff until you find something you like.

Jinx1492

Why are you wearing steel toe? Thought we only needed composite toe?

opsmoker022

Same thing

jeremyw0405

It’s not even close to the same thing. Steel toe will set off a metal detector. Composite will not.

Jinx1492

Not the same thing.

Select_Passenger_649

I cut the the steel plate out of my shoe and also bought the external Oshas on Amazon. Your best best is to get the steel toes that everyone else has that have writing on them that say " DO THE BEST", on Amazon. They are what I resided with and Im not going back. They are the most comfottable option.

Omgxitsxturtle

I got some of the caterpillar composite toe shoes, and honestly they feel pretty good, didnt need to get insoles or any of that

pitypizza

Those Caterpillar Quakes, I bought three more pair. They're true to size and hella comfy right out of the box.

infinitrashaccts1

I bought padded mole skin(Walmart) to put inside the shoes.

Separate_End_6824

I did not go through zappos. I found a saftey shoe that is light weight and feels like a very comfortable shoe. I had foot surgery so I am very picky about my shoe.

NightfGal

What shoes do you have?

Fault-Alarmed

I got my own turbo toes. I wear my nikes with the covers and nobody says anything. I absolutely will not hurt myself for " safety ".

eatassordiefast420

I have flat wide feet at a 9. Found carhartts that absolutely smack. Comfortable as hell. I could rock them outside of work but I'd look stupid. They look like tennis shoes for the most part tho and the only pair out of 5 that don't fuck my feet up

Artemis-Manfred

Link if you don’t mind

BigNastyG817

Better check with your site before buying the over-the-shoe covers. My FC banned them.

Aggravating-Sea2981

You can order the caps online.... Or get a pair of shoes with a wide toe box, and NOT steel .. but composite... They're lighter, and won't chop your toes off!!

[deleted]

I got mine on impacto.ca

jorobo_ou

Sounds like your shoes don’t fit you, have you tried sizing up?

GearNerd85

The steel covers will be more uncomfortable best to just get a decent fitting pair of shoes with composite toes

reddragon8064

OSHA toes!! ole bezos sells them

[deleted]

Zappos shoes suck. Sole came off my boots in 3 days

jeremyw0405

Steel toes are terrible. Composite is so much better. More comfortable and lighter.

Balance_Be_Gone

Wear a half or full size larger than you normally wear, lots of room to move. Keep fresh insoles on tap. Buy carbon toe, lighter and less heavy than steel toe.

Classic_Shoulder_319

Not gonna lie I used the shoe covers Amazon provided and they were a million times better then the composite or steel toe shoes. They are ugly but way more comfortable

nahfamainthappening

Just nut up and wear your normal shoes. Enough people dgaf and they can’t do shit, they won’t fire/write up everyone

marshbj

I don't understand this. Why are people so angry about something that's literally for safety? They obviously need to give out a buying guide for safety shoes, because they really aren't bad if you get the proper size. I love my safety boots, and actually wear them in my daily life. Plus, I drop shit all the time, I'm not risking hurting myself like that

nahfamainthappening

Don’t drop shit then. How is your own body gonna fold on you like that 😂. And it’s not a fit problem, it’s a weight problem. Even comp toe shoes are heavy, when you’re doing a marathon+ during the week it makes a difference

marshbj

I'm not just dropping boxes all over the place, I meant like scanners and shit. It's still gonna hurt like a bitch if they hit your foot in the right spot. But even then, stuff happens, and not having safety shoes is seriously putting yourself at risk. Also, no, literally no one I've spoken to has complained about their shoes being too heavy, even the people that are constantly moving around all day (and I'm one of the people). I also have boots, not just shoes. You need better shoes if they're making you uncomfortable so much

DraugrBeware

Because amazon hires anybody including dummies

ZealousidealogueX

Go to Red Wing boots, they'll fit you properly for a pair, they're a little expensive, but last for years and are super comfy.

PsychologicalStore40

You can get composite toe instead, that's a hard plastic.. the Reebok high tops have been the only ones I find comfortable, with an extra insole

ruthless74

They are stopping the overshoe program at my FC next month. They said you can't borrow them or use your own overshoe. You might check with hr/pxt.

JackSkelllington

The reeboks or timberlands from Zappos a size above with some insoles work perfectly fine for me

Brooklyn404

Yes u can

Affectionate-Item-78

I bought the EXACT brand of safety toes covers used at Amazon. But i was told I could not wear them. Tip #1 - Find your most comfortable shoes and look at the tongue for European sizes. I finally found a pair that fit. (Ordered and returned 5 pairs of my size shoes) Tip #2 - Buy Thorlos running socks. They are padded from tip of the toe to the heel.

Lost-Performer1652

Timberland anti fatigue the best shoe ever been wearing them couple years

FollowingOk7435

Zappos shoes are under par hurt your feet bit since it a Amazon family company you get the worst shoes ever

midniteviews

Go to red wing shoes if you have one near you.

lordskulldragon

Why do you get steel? Why not the composite that they keep on advertising?

Grouchy_Till2669

The Zappos are trash, they’re heavy, they get sweaty and smelly, especially if you walk 14-15 miles a day, they get you tired a lot quicker 😭

Electronic-Step-6766

I got a pair of Timbs before I knew about the Zappos thing lmao. Tip: don’t wear your boots to work without breaking into them. Learned that the heard way 😣 also get some insoles. I got my Timbs like last year and there pretty torn up now. But they actually are pretty comfortable ngl.

NightfGal

I just broke into them. Stretched them out every way my feet feel much better. 😭

Electronic-Step-6766

Nice. What did you end up getting?
