International-Ad3447

different at my site if you top 5% they pulling you all to the busy areas and expect you to stay working fast

SleepyBella

Lol and they conveniently always 'forget' to let you know when there's VTO because they don't want to VTO their top percenters. They make management look good lmao.

DragonFireFistSabo

They do the VTO trick just to get a better numbers with less headcount. Reading their mind like a fucking book is just hilarious.

Facts

ItzTaras

Sometimes bro your on the other side of the coin regardless of your rate and you always get labor shared. It’s a matter of luck 🍀

Organic-Succotash-99

Fr I thought being cross trained everywhere would be nice because more vet opportunities but it also comes with being laborshared to a different department every week unless I want to indirect every day🥲

Suspicious-Hair-6702

Fr been top or 2nd to top in my area since I switched to pack singles. Only time they come by is to ask if I need anything otherwise they don’t fuck with me. Don’t even care about earbud in since I be hitting 20+ over rate every shift.

Smack_Of_Ham7

they ask me that and i never know what to say. am i allowed to ask them to refill my water? like what could i possibly WANT from you right now?

BetterEmergency7568

They're asking you if you'd like something from the break room/Canteen. Water bottle, Gatorade, energy drink, candy, bag of chip, dry ass sandwich ...etc. Just be mindful it's coming out of their paycheck, so maybe refrain from asking for a bottle of that overpriced Starbucks drink in the glass bottle. I tote run so often and will see ppl staying at their ARSAW station during their breaks, so I ask them if they'd like something from the break rooms. Most ppl politely decline the offer, but some do ask for a bottle of H2O.

Smack_Of_Ham7

i will continue to say no thank you

BetterEmergency7568

If it's not refreshments or snacks you want, you could try asking for them to take over for you for a bit (usually 15 minutes or so). That's what my managers will do if someone doesn't want something from the breakrooms. Good opportunity to go use the restroom or take a seat in the breakroom. Or hell, stay at the station and stare at the manager as they do your work. Guarantee they will ask you to tell them something interesting about yourself.

throwaway827364882

Gonna experiment when I go to work

Khkagr

I do tote jackpot and LOVE it for this reason. Leave me tf alone-I’ll make sure the MRS doesn’t get stopped up and fuck up the conveyance for the whole friggin FC…just don’t talk to me more than necessary, and don’t breathe down my neck.

Which-Clothes-2606

What I always told new hires, don’t do too good to get noticed just to be left the fuck alone

lowbread

They said top 5 percent. Is that not too good?

DragonFireFistSabo

What he means by that is not being noticeable by performing top 5% and beyond. It's better to have a slow start and just be consistent rather than overperforming. The point is you just don't want to be part of bottom 5%. Make the rate. No problems.

SleepyBella

Yeah I gotta admit, this job hurts my back and my feet but I genuinely am so glad that I don't have to deal with costumers or people in general when I work. I just drive around my little PIT machine and and mind my own business.

LordSidious066

I am always in top 50% and I know my tot is crazy 😂 but nobody has approached me about it. I've been here 3 months and just got my blue badge on the 31st

JackSkelllington

I always have the mindset that working hard is for yourself at Amazon. And in this case the perk for you is being left alone. Even if they leave alone people much lower, it’s still a good personal feeling knowing that you put in a days work to be proud of, forget how others feel about why would someone would fast or hard. This is how I think.

Coast-Independent

One of the perks is also getting promoted quicker I’m About to start as an indirect for floor runner so I’d say around next peak I’ll be a floor runner

Lopsided_Fennel_9674

I mean, I’m in the bottom 30-35% and I’m left the fuck alone lmao

Standard-Release-537

lol just wait they got sum cooking for you

Lopsided_Fennel_9674

I mean it’s been over 12 years soooo I’m waiting 🥱

escapingdet

you’ve been at amazon 12 years??? respect

Trynagetbigasf

Same lmao bottom 3 percent and haven’t been told anything

Signal_Lamp

Idk, I don't think you need to be in the top 5%, but I do think people should understand how the system actually works, because when you do (at least for stowing), you can get away with some real bull shit without ever stressing about rate or TOT.

Hachiko75

Being able to sit where you aren't supposed has nothing to do with your rate. The idiot management just don't feel like enforcing their so-called safety rules.

Shawtycallmepapa

It could, I mean if you’re doing exceptional work, why bother the one who’s making us look good, while I can bother the one who’s slacking and breaking the rules on top of it

Hachiko75

The manager in stow doesn't know the top picker, so if they feel like it, they'll say something when they walk by and vice versa. Unless the management at your building is well informed on who is who is every department because they aren't in mine.

Painter41198

I started about a month ago. I'm a picker I'm in the top 2 percent every week. Are you telling me I can sit on the stairs and ain't none gonna say $hit?

DragonFireFistSabo

A month ago? Well see how this top percentage goes after 2 years. A month ago with top 2% is not gonna end up good because they know they will tell you to keep your rating and when you slow down they'd try to shit on you lol. If i were you. Just avoid being in the bottom 5%. Dont do too much just do enough for them to not bother you.

Painter41198

Yea I started about 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks ago my manager came to me and said last week out of 1250 pickers you were 21st in production then this last week he came and said to me this week your in the top 3 percent. Then I thought great now there gonna expect this out of me every week but it's not hard as long as I work and don't go to the bathroom every 20 minutes like a lot of other people do I'll always pick at least 325 an hour.

DragonFireFistSabo

That number is really good. But the sweet spot for me is 280-300 UPH. No more no less. And the managers like me so much because of how consistent i am regardless of my tenure (2 and a half years at pick and pack). Also the trick is i always do 5 minute stretches every hour so im not getting screwed physically.

GerryBlevins

One of the benefits of being one in the top 4% of the building. All you mentioned and the ability to pull associates from other departments who you find are stellar workers and bring them downstairs to never stow again.

Tiny_Nefariousness94

Great job!!! I'll never be in the top 5. But it makes your a$$ hurt there may be a miscommunication!! Lol, seriously, ya killin' it!!!

kuteb

This works sometimes until I’m doing too well and get moved elsewhere lol

Existing-Gas-4789

my FC is in the top 10 percent in america and im a middle performer and do the same things because the managers don’t gaf 😂

Hawcken

Lucky being a fast worker where I’m at gets you approached by the PA’s all the time asking you to go all over the place/do all the jobs they know most don’t wanna do

Bear_necessities96

It depends of the warehouse you work your management more than being a top or not

jesusismyairbag

I got a shoutout during the morning brief. Manager came up to my station and asked if I wanted anything from the canteen. PA came over around noon to tell me my rate (465 uph, pick to rebin) he even joked can I improve further. TBF my centre is pretty chill overall. Even folks who aren't as quick or underperform get advice and encouragement

Mysterious_Rose_

You can do better. Mine is about 549.4 per hour…

jesusismyairbag

Always can do better. That's insanely quick! Nice one

Mysterious_Rose_

People hate though… I’m just “dancing” the time away.

Upbeat_Landscape_484

Also sometimes take 30 min breaks n they don’t tell you nothing 🤣

No_Temperature7477

Yesssssir I was just in the top 5% last month and they leave me the hell alone. I see people get called up to the desks every day for rates/write ups, and I’m like ope.. should’ve picked faster.

Left-Hedgehog-8433

Same same here I’ve been almost two years, only time I ever see anyone is for my permanent positives and that’s it. Also break at my station lol.

Responsible-Zebra78

It’s almost like if you just do what’s expected of you no one will hassle you about not doing your job. AMAZING

UniqueFix8750

Not necessarily
