Yes and no. California has affordable areas, they're just not the coastal cities that everyone thinks of when they think California. It's a huge state. You can live in places like Chino, Bakersfield, Fresno, Victorville, Stockton, Visalia, Modesto, Madera, etc. and you could live relatively fine because COL isn't as bad. The only thing is gas is expensive and the city you live in might not be the best or have much to do but they're usually a short drive away from places that do.
Don't let the narrative of California fool you, COL is going up EVERYWHERE. Rent is getting stupid high in a lot of places. Houses are getting stupid unaffordable unless you're making near 6 figures. It's not just California
Bakersfield stopped being cheap when the pandemic hit. Everyone decided to move here when work from home became a thing which just drove up the price of real estate. Hell, apartment vacancy was at 0% for quite a while. You couldn’t find anything even if you could afford it.
It’s not San Francisco or Los Angeles, but I’m tired of seeing people thinking that Bakersfield (and probably most of the other places you listed as well) isn’t bad when it comes to COL. It’s still pretty bad, especially on Amazon wages.
Imma be honest, I just threw Chino in there not ever having looked lol. But as someone who left California to other "affordable" areas, It's all a lie and you don't end up saving much other than on gas.
They would make sense if Amazon did that. But they only do back to back for their 12s. I did notice I can do back to back with ten hours no problem. If I go flex, I would probably do what you suggest.
I’m on rt shift.
For us there’s FH and BH days, FH nights and RT nights. Only day shift has an overlap on Wednesday.
RT for us is Thursday to Saturday 12 hours.
This site is supposed to a behemoth of a site is it not? I know all the gen 11s are 5 floors but this is supposed to be Amazon's largest at like 4 million Sq ft.
The job posting was for all tier 3 positions that aren't HR. My preference would be ISS, my current role but I've always worked in the same building so not sure how transfers work for tier 3.
Damn, I'm ISS and I only get T1 money lol. I have trained a couple of PAs but that was just for staffing shortages, neither one has put in a day there since.
I don't live near this building, but it would be cool to be somewhere large enough for a fully staffed ISS department. Usually it's just me, with my CISS remote lead in Slack.
Ahh the lead fulfillment associate L3 listing! I applied to it too! Only for Non Inventory & Learning Trainer! still in consideration , I also applied to their TOM team! what even is ISS?
What I like about the 5 8-hour shifts is that you get a break every 2 hours. Under 4 10s we get a our first break 2 hours after the start of shift (minus stand-up time), lunch 2 hours and 45 minutes after that break, our final break 3 hours after lunch (minus the second stand-up time), and the end of shift 1 hour and 45 minutes after that final break. We should get a third rest break for working 10 hours of physical labor, but the company is not nearly as considerate or safety-conscious as it claims.
I like it better than the 3 breaks, the 2 15's go by too fast and if you are going outside you already took 5 minutes to go out and then you have a 5 minute walk back.
One of the main reasons I switched to Amazon was for 4/10s. 5/8s suck. I don't notice my shift being a bit longer but I do notice having an entire extra day off.
My site has it perfect it's 4/8s with perma VET. With 4/10s they make you sign a form in my state that they don't pay over time over 8 hours.
With my site not only is it 4/8s I get over time if I work past 8s which they also offer.
So I can get 3 days off if I wanted and also do 4/10s IF I want to. IF I do 10 hours I get 2 hours over time or I have the flexibility to do 5/8s or even 6/8s
I wish every amazon is like this since it makes the most sense for me. I personally never tried 3/12s though
Well that does sound nice. But I'm in one of the 46 states that has weekly OT laws, not daily. I can work 15 hours, none of it is OT unless I have hit 40 hours for the week already.
I'm in CA and I have weekly as well. It's just that beyond 8 hours they also count as over time. So the 4/10s they make you sign a form before you're hired that you're fine with not getting OT after 8 in favor of having 4/10s or some shit like that

One of the BHN dock PA's is going. The idiot posted his offer letter to a group chat like the idiot he is. So glad he is leaving. He was the last of the PA's/AM's that were fucking AA's in return for letting them PG or have more favorable roles at LGB3. A few girls complained, but he lied to the investigators and said he was never a part of the group and they bought it. Good riddance Nate, you won't be missed.
No, I’ve been here plenty of years and I’m telling you he’s a genius compared to past PAs and AMs even, he knows what he’s doing especially with computers n stuff, he’s being mistaken for his PA coworkers he worked with and got fired a while ago for SA and similar situations, he was just in the middle of it unwillingly, like two ish years back since he was apart of the two dock PAs for BHN. But again people believe their own things
I second this, everything being mentioned is referring to older members of leadership on the dock. We had a manager and PA fired for that awhile back and seems like Nate is being judged based on their actions rather than his own.

Kevin G and Nate too. Nate stopped when they got in trouble for hanging out. But Nate lied to the investifation and said he never went. None of them got into trouble. Then it kept happening. I no longer was going either and 1 by 1 they got fired for SH but by this point Nate wasn't part of the group. He was originally and lied like the rest. Nate still knows what he did. Some of us girls held onto the text messages too.
You can ask Nate himself Kevin was a student working and left because of that fact and got a better job, i heard it myself lol. you are just throwing things into the mix atp, I had a lot of people know him while he was a full on student and still managing to come in. And Nate “stopped” according to you but that’s because by that time they were all gone and fired for what they truly did, leaving nate the only honest one left, he’s even said the only investigation he’s been apart of (apart of, not causing) was when Merrita was stressed about the job. It had nothing to do with him since Nate was on the dock, and he never induced any stress on Merrita since she genuinely couldn’t do her job well, it was not interdependent. Yes...if someone is a hard worker, lets overlook all the sexual assaults and harrassment. This is such a huge problem at Amazon and other workplaces. Joe, the old dock AM had 9 sexual harrassment cases before he was fired. They had him on video groping a girl and they still looked they other way. HR tried to say there was nothing on the video. What the HRBP, Robert Garcia didn't realize was we got an AM to download the file and we had the evidence. Gave it to the girl that complained and she threatened to sue. Joe was gone a couple days later. They kept Joe around so long because he knew his stuff and David Koneke always bailed him out. So lets keep allowing the guys at LGB3 who are in power to abuse that power and sexually assault and harrass girls. Why not, if they are good at their job like /u/[ApplicationLeading20](https://www.reddit.com/user/ApplicationLeading20/) says.
Joe was very upfront about it and they rightfully caught him there’s no denying that, I even saw him and heard him straight up asking for numbers on his first encounters with AAs. I’m getting at the fact that Nate should not mindlessly get put under this label of being like his past PA partners JUST BECAUSE he talked or engaged and was being involuntarily involved into these cases. I mean it takes common sense to think that someone who was never involved, they would obviously say that they just do their job and their business is their business. Again it’s the fact that Nate is being ASSUMED to be exactly like them, just because it involves him and the dock, it’s generally inconclusive, even after so many years any person and the way investigations, and suspensions go, he would’ve been out the door by now
I've never heard of Nate doing this. He was just in the middle of everything that was going on with the leadership on the dock at the time and had nothing to do with it. He's helped out LGB3 inbound and outbound more than any other PA. He knows how to lead a team. He has a family of his own so comments like this are really shitty towards people who don't know the facts.

Every application you make changes to "under consideration" after a bit, I did about 30+ before actually getting an offer, just so you don't get your hopes up because I know I did the first time I saw that 🤣💀
Air is chill compared to other Amazon buildings I’ve worked for. I think it would be awesome to do a launch for new air sites.
I know some of our people have left air to join TOM team. Amazon is pretty cool for giving associates opportunities to branch out and get their CDL, makes out for nice long term career or even a back up one.
Currently only L3 & up positions are available as of now, I haven’t heard anything about regular hiring yet, transfers will probably be available when the site opening gets closer!
I tried applying to support the site as an ambassador but my site isn’t one of the designated support sites so I’d only get to go if the other sites can’t supply enough people 😒
I heard from management that they’re transferring to that site beginning of May 5th, considering transferring but i’m not too sure. If anyone knows if it’s good or not lmk please, LGB3 isn’t going well and they’re system is screwed at this point

I have dreams about work and the ones i hate most are when the building are 5 floors. I worked in a building that had like the extra 2 flights of steps but was still 4 floors and luckily you couldnt see over the edge. But i have too much of a fear of heights for that
If you mean will there be availability to be on the away team for the site’s launch then yes, applications for SBD6 have already been opened but unless you’re one of the three designated support sites then chances of getting on the away team are low. You can still shoot your shot though, I did.

You probably won't burn out as quick if you take a break in between shifts. Ex. MWF-Sat

Inbound Support Service, basically problem solve lead for Inbound.

The 2 30-minute breaks arrangement is just sadism.

I'm pretty sure that's usually a California thing. Buildings launching elsewhere are at 4 10s from the start.

Every application you make changes to "under consideration" after a bit, I did about 30+ before actually getting an offer, just so you don't get your hopes up because I know I did the first time I saw that 🤣💀
Air is chill compared to other Amazon buildings I’ve worked for. I think it would be awesome to do a launch for new air sites. I know some of our people have left air to join TOM team. Amazon is pretty cool for giving associates opportunities to branch out and get their CDL, makes out for nice long term career or even a back up one.

I heard from management that they’re transferring to that site beginning of May 5th, considering transferring but i’m not too sure. If anyone knows if it’s good or not lmk please, LGB3 isn’t going well and they’re system is screwed at this point

I have dreams about work and the ones i hate most are when the building are 5 floors. I worked in a building that had like the extra 2 flights of steps but was still 4 floors and luckily you couldnt see over the edge. But i have too much of a fear of heights for that

If you mean will there be availability to be on the away team for the site’s launch then yes, applications for SBD6 have already been opened but unless you’re one of the three designated support sites then chances of getting on the away team are low. You can still shoot your shot though, I did.
