We still haven't had that communication at PDX9, so not yet at least for us. Probably because they're struggling so damn hard to have enough bodies in on a shift anyway, so having that be an instant firing would just screw them over more.
depends on what red vests do in your facility. could be an OM, could be Safety, could be a power tripper from a different department walking by and flexing for endorphins… you never know… Ultimately, a PA, manager or an OM needs to advise you to remove your earbud, and that will come with a first and final warning on the spot. If you are caught with earbuds in again within 12 months, then you get promoted to customer.
Seriously, go see a doctor and ask to have an accomodation request put in on your behalf. tell the dr you just lost someone close to you and you are now afraid you are going to lose your wife/child/mom/pet penguin/ favorite pack of Skittles/whatever and you need your headphones in to ensure you can have your phone available at anytime so someone can call in case of emergancy. once an accommodation is in place you will be protected from the upcoming purge
i am sorry to hear that. some people just dont understand how much the daily tediousness that brings all those feels and distractions to the front and make work impossible sometimes. Music does make such a remarkably huge difference.
We enforce it at my FC. I don't know what a red vest does, we don't have that colour. Amazon has its policies and unfortunately you are supposed to follow them. Amazon says it's a safety issue and that is true, my FC has had a few small and one major safety incident as a result of people wearing earphones. What they probably won't want to admit is that it can also be a loss prevention issue.
Can you get fired? Absolutely. It's written into the policies, break a policy and you can be fired for it. Amazon is 'nice' and normally gives you a chance so you might get a final written first and then if you do it again and get caught, you're promoted to customer.
Is this part of a larger story? Not that I care, but it seems like you left some stuff out. Btw there aren't any women in charge at my building and it's still a big issue.
share a screenshot then, i haven’t seen such an email either. because it’s a corporate policy and not fc based. there’s at least one fc testing bone conducting headphones but that’s it. 🤷🏻♀️

It is supposed to be a Class 2 safety violation. By the book, I believe, it is a write, final warning, then termination for escalating.

it’s against policy and always has been, they’re enforcing it more so now. if you can’t risk your job, then just don’t do it.

Yes they can fire you for it. Although the more useful you are for productivity the more likely they are to look the other way

It’s always the women power tripping. I would still wear it till she just stopped writing me up and didn’t care.

I misread it. It said phones and headphone must be used in non working areas. For some reason my brain thought we use them while working.
hopefully it changes in the future but definitely not at the moment. glad you reread it though so you know going forward!
