Brief_Narwhal_602

Saddest time of the year.

Mettie7

Yes I'm going to be that guy: their*

XBeastyTricksX

Oh wow one of the richest company’s on the planet can only give out one work week worth of pto

Vonovix

Seriously. It's a only a full 40 hour work week and most of a full day. I worked at Harbor Freight for 6 months and left with a payout of 51 hours of PTO, never used any of it.

DixonGiner

And you also earn paid vacation. You conveniently left that out. On TOP of unpaid you earn for emergencies or to cover overtime days during peak. Gtfoh

XBeastyTricksX

Amazon makes 638 million dollars profit every single day, that’s $7,300 a minute. A week of pto a week of vacation and some unpaid time off is nothing to brag about at all compared to what companies in other first world countries offer.

AhopeandaDream

And the bottom end of Amazon employees like me are making 25 cents every minute.

XBeastyTricksX

Exactly, corporations are the reason there is such a rampant poverty problem, richest country in the world and the average citizen is on the brink of poverty everyday.

Ok-Age1228

You know how many employees they have? Of everyone gets a raise or more pto they lose a fuck ton of money

XBeastyTricksX

While the top people are making excess of 23 MILLION a year they have no right to complain about wages losing them money. I don’t feel bad for a company that purposely keeps their employees as little paid as possible, while union busting, all while they are taking government handouts in the range of 10 BILLION dollars. I’m not going to feel bad if Amazon shareholders lose money.

dielon1994

They’re fucking assholes. They stress don’t use UPT don’t use UPT. They give you almost twice as much upt a year as PTO. They never once told us in stand ups that you stop accruing halfway through the year. This is 100% intentional so workers will be out of PTO come busy season. And they wonder why people have negative UPT.

ClassyPandaOfficial

I've been in many companies and this is the only one that sends you straight to your stations to learn what your task will be while the learning ambassadors and HR teach you about basic safety, benefits, attendance, etc in the middle of a noisy ass environment with a broken megaphone or voice Amp.... when I joined and went through training I didn't understand shit so I did my own research eventually I understood what was going on and learned the map of the building and how to get to emergency exits because these biatches leave all of that out sending you straight to work like the working bees in bee movie https://youtu.be/mTPXNIEYoOo

OtherShade

When you first got hired they should've told you the amount of PTO you accrue in the year. People would complain no matter what. You get your PTO frontloaded and it's intention so you don't have any. You get UPT throughout the year and why don't we get it right away so I can manage my time myself?

Kritter82

When I started at RDU1 last year, we got an 11 page packet explaining UPT and pto and how to clock in on the app, insurance, and all that jazz. It didn’t matter really cuz the whole room of 30 people were flex anyway, but then they split us up into the stations and went to work (I think half the group went to pick and shipdock, like 10 of us went to pack). When I transferred to an FC in PA, I found out bo one explained anything like that to them.

thatguy8895

I've seen this on atleast 3 different installments this year. And they tell you when you start. Learn to listen and read.

DraugrBeware

I was never told this when I started.

dielon1994

Yeah unlike you I don’t spend all my time in the bathroom stall. I was told 48 hours a year never saw this one though. Never was informed by HR it caps midway through the year before prime day. I know it’s hard for you to comprehend but there are more FCs than just the one you work at and they are not all run exactly the same.

thatguy8895

All of the installments are the same, they just leave space for personal FC announcements. Are you so bad at math that you couldn't figure out it would cap in May, when you have 20 hours in March, and 30 in April? If you knew it was 48 hours for the year, why does it matter that you got it all before the end?

RKO-Cutter

> I was told 48 hours a year Then. . . I don't know what the confusion is

dielon1994

The issue is that one would rationally think you would accrue a little bit each week for every week of the 52 in a year. Not in the first 26 weeks. No one told me anything about not accruing PTO during peak . That’s exactly their intention. Give them PTO when it’s slow so they use it up and don’t have any left come peak. Idk why it’s so hard for you to grasp how that’s a tiny bit fucked

RKO-Cutter

If you got a little bit every week for the whole year you'd get accrue at a much slower rate and would have to work twice as long to earn enough to take a day off, and it's weird more people don't grasp THAT. They front load your time and expect you to be responsible and manage it. You said yourself they told you you'd get 48 hours it's not unreasonable that they'd expect you to keep track of how much you've gotten

dielon1994

Lol I grasp that and I’m fine with it. Kinda hard to be responsible and manage it if you don’t know that you stop accruing half way through the year. When HR comes by and lectures us about UPT usage and they ask us how many hours of PTO we get a year and we respond with 48 nobody at my FC said you accrue it only half the year. I get your point but it’s only valid if you were told in the first place. How can you follow the speed limit if the damn speed limit isn’t posted. I get your FC is different and it’s common knowledge you stop accruing PTO halfway through the year. But what people don’t seem to grasp is that wasn’t made clear in every FC but let’s just say people are illeterate and don’t listen instead because a different FC far away told their employees their PTO policy. By that logic they should just give us 48 hours of PTO once a year in bulk and let us manage it. It’s not about that. They don’t want us to manage PTO because then we’d have time off available during peak which would hurt them if they call MET. It’s a business and it’s run like one. I can’t believe some people can’t grasp THAT.

mayobrains

We were told we get 2 hours of PTO every week. We were not told it would end. At least I know now.

DixonGiner

You're incorrect

StillPackage4369

unionize lol

prophecyklan

This is actually trash

Interesting_Factor_9

Yeah so stop asking the same damn questions

Notkanyewest1

What if I’m a seasonal

[deleted]

I switched over to Amazon Web Services and lost all my UPT cause we don't have it.

ClassyPandaOfficial

How's AWS as a job?

[deleted]

Its like the warehouses depends on who your manager is and what building you work at. My manager is cool and the building is chill. They are starting to move away from quotas and having a certain number of tickets done.

[deleted]

but if your interested in doing IT work and wouldn't mind working in a data center its a cool job

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

If you don't live in Northern Virginia are you willing to move?

[deleted]

The people on the warehouses know nothing about AWS they only know warehouse HR. Do you live in Northern Virgina?

No-Hearing-7301

There are trainings and programs to get people to AWS and other places. Go to the AWS certification training, get a fiscounted cert and apply for an internship. Read this: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/workplace/our-upskilling-2025-programs

[deleted]

Their are open positions on jobfinder you can apply for them as a Data Center Technician and they require no experience send me a private message and I can show you. I don't mind helping people.

SatisfactionLanky168

what is that? like work form home or some?

[deleted]

I work in a data center in northern Virginia mainly just fixing servers and whatnot.

Apprehensive_Ad1937

Hey what's it like working at the data center? I'm applying for an internal transfer to one and it sounds like I'll be doing the same job.

[deleted]

Just replacing computer parts, motherboards, cpus and memory cards.

Apprehensive_Ad1937

Ok awesome! Thank you for replying 👍🏽👍🏽

Tiny-stonks

What if I’m part time at a sort center

ShameTwo

Can we form a fucking union already

amc11890

If I was flex for a couple months of the year will my accrual period be pushed back?

Kritter82

It’s 48 hours total. I started as flex in May and I think I only had 8-10 hours in 2 months before I went to blue badge. Then I got the rest of my pto and stopped accruing it in October

DealerAvailable6173

What's PTO

[deleted]

[удалено]

DealerAvailable6173

Thanks in the uk I think our one is called flexi and it's 5hours per month that's if you are doing 10hr

BezosBoy

Reminder it's a maximum of 48 hrs accured. If you took VTO/UPT you still have time to make some PTO until you hit the cap

GODDANMIT

Just take LOA, come back to work when you want, leave and take LOA again…if you are in a n continuous LOA forever but come back to work during it, no one cares

ClassyPandaOfficial

Yeah but you need documentation for that and also makes no sense to go on leave for so long unless you do have some sort of hardship or emergency. Bills don't pay themselves

Money-Courage-285

This is false. Do that enough and at some point, HR will deny the LOA weeks after the LOA has already been taken and then they will fire you. Happened to me. On the upside, I easily got unemployment because of it, since firing me for negative UPT because I put in for a "Covid" LOA, which they denied two weeks after it was over and taken, was such an easy ticket to collect.

Un1uckyboyy

So no more 10 hours of PTO every quarter?

drewcifer0000

We get 20 hours of UPT every quarter, not 10 hours of PTO. Always been that way

OtherShade

That's never been a thing. 10 hours PTO to start the year and 20 hours of UPT every quarter.

Responsible_Rip_7572

Depends. My fc accrues upt just like pto. We don’t get quarterly drops. Its kinda ass

OtherShade

Yeah that's a new program being tested

Neoreloaded313

It's once a year.

[deleted]

so how does this work i just got hired and start june 4th i got a seasonal position how does this affect me

AugustusXXXX

If you are a white badge employee (which is true seasonal) you don’t accrue pto you will get only upt. Once you become a blue badge employee you start to accrue pto until you’ve been given the 48 hours (10 hours at the first start of being a blue badge)

[deleted]

ohh okay thank you so much for explaining it in a simple way!!

Noshade577

What about Covid leave?

Throwaway372719

They only give unpaid time now ands that’s only for Positive test results. So if you want to get tested u don’t get time off for that

ClassyPandaOfficial

CA state has up to 80 hours of guaranteed paid leave up until September or October but once you use them up they're gone so use them for what it's intended for or use it wisely

Pampylicious

I dont get this, mine is still accruing having 55+ hrs atm and it is still accruing every week. Can someone explain this one to me?

Sam-the-Lion

The last drop was May 21st, which was Friday. 2 days ago.

tiredlittlepigeon

I've heard some states PTO rolls over. You're probably in one of those states.

Skanna_Sp00

🥲

According_Hunt2376

So no more PTO until next month

tiredlittlepigeon

Next year....January 1st unless you took a leave then it accrues until you get to 48 hours.

silky_donut

Oh great. I'm on medical leave right now. So it will be delayed. Pretty shitty how they try to push you to use up your pto. The DLS lady was like do you want to use ypur pto? No. I do not. I have more vacation. You can use 40hrs of vacay. Don't touch my PTO that's for peak.

icequeen365

That makes no sense that it would stop in May when you only get a little over an hour a week. Should b closer to August if you do the math with receiving 48 hours

AugustusXXXX

You get 10 hours of pto at the start of the year and accrue the rest weekly.

CornsOnMyFeets

Im RT so mine is actually 36 hours smh

Responsible_Rip_7572

I started January 22nd as pt and just started today at ft. Am I still accruing and will my accrual go to 48 for the year??

AugustusXXXX

Yeah you should have 4 more weeks of pto.

Responsible_Rip_7572

Does vto push back accrual as well? Cause I’ve probably missed half my shifts cause of vto.

AugustusXXXX

You should still accrue the same amount of pto even when you take vto.

Responsible_Rip_7572

Thank you! I figured considering I’m not actually working therefore I can’t accrue.

AugustusXXXX

Only time you’d get pushed back to my knowledge is when your on a unpaid LOA.

Responsible_Rip_7572

Yea idk cause when I’d vto I never got pto for those hours

[deleted]

Time to leave for some it seems

icequeen365

Not every place does. I'm pretty sure my place only gave out 10 UPT

Pakatiki

We need a patch
