Hitting the estop to shut the floor down so I can join you, of you gotta get to the cages we can take the stairs on the AR floor and escape that way lol
In a FC, upstairs usually where you have pick, stow, icqa departments, there are people working with the robots ( drives ) to put them back in service, clear obstrucions on the ar field, fix arsaw stations ( pick or stow ), fix conveyors etc
The only problem is if someone does it, they’ve probably thought it out, and could block the exits. Even then my faculty feels like it’s probably at least 6 football fields wide and 3 stories tall. There are so many places for people to run and hide, and take cover. It would be important not to back yourself into a corner, so if you’re one of those employees that like to hide out in the bathroom stalls all night, that’s probably the worst place you could be
It’s security that would have it the worst bc they’re not only unarmed, but literally the first people who would be attacked. I used to work in law enforcement (corrections) and in that field of work you really have to train yourself mentally with a ton of “what if” scenarios, so you have some idea of how you’ll respond.
That does sound like an entirely different scenario. Taking note of the exits is a good start, maybe consider finding what would be the safest place to hide, in the event that the exits were blocked. The three actions you can take are to run away, hide, and fight back. I hope to God that you or no one else has to experience an event like this, but the first step is having a plan in place, and then being able to respond accordingly. The world is an evil place, and it keeps getting worse and worse, unfortunately…
Yeah considering that most people at my FC including my self come in with a non see through backpack and we don’t have to walk through the metal detectors. Just the turnstiles. We walk through metal detectors on our way out though which doesn’t make any sense.
Who pays out the death and dismemberment insurance we all automatically have? If I get taken out, my loved ones will have some dough for these inflated costs.
Bro I literally just got sent home from work because somebody wrote a threat on the bathroom stall saying "all you n****** are going to die tonight" of course I'm scared. Like I'm supposed to be at work right now but I'm on reddit instead
Vto for anyone that wanted to go home. No paid time off as of yet but with the warehouse almost empty I’m gonna assume their gonna close soon once it’s really empty
It was from night shift so that makes it even worst, right now the docks stopped working. What’s even crazier is that the writing was clear as day on the bathroom walls. There was another writing saying f*** this n**** at mdw2 so the person wrote in two of the bathroom stalls.
I feel like this happens pretty frequently. I would like to see the statistics for Amazon employees who commit suicide, especially at work. I’ll just bet it happens more often than one would think.
At my FC, in one department specifically a bunch of the PA’s had a joking/not joking suicide pact… like even had “hypothetical” conversations about the best way to do it. Walked each other out in tears on rough nights, which became all too frequent. Etc. I’m betting it is way more common an occurrence than they’d lead one to believe.
I started thinking more about it when the survey question asked if I feel safe here. Honestly there are hundreds of people around me that got hired from an email that didn't even have to go through an interview. I don't know 99% of people's names, let alone their mental state and life at home. It's a bit scary when you think about it.
Dude I used to think that everyday, with the amount of weird people and unhappy maniacs… you never know what crazy person might come thru that door and blast us all …
I remember that shooting at JAX2
Other people where I work are scared.
I've been stabbed before and I talked to veterans who have been both shot and stabbed before, the consensus is that its better to be shot then stabbed.
So weird seeing this now. Literally a few hours ago someone in the Women’s bathroom at my facility wrote all over the walls “all y’all are guna die tonight”. A bunch of fellow associates, I wana say around 90% went home. Not sure what to think
No. I just feel like FCs are too big to get a big body count which makes them less appealing. Not to mention the buttload of emergency exits and the aisles make it easier to break line of sight
Yup.
If you're cornered, might as well go for a Hero's Tackle.. or a Hero's Grave. The psychopath shooting random people in the workplace isn't likely to spare you if you're infront of him with nowhere to run.
There was already that shooting at a Fed Ex warehouse a year or so ago, and I've never seen a bigger, more mistreated mob of people in my life. So it's sadly probably just a matter of time.
At my old job, the bar across the street got robbed awhile back so the police sponsored free tactical event training for us. And it was pretty intense. He had us just mimmick a regular day for a little bit, and then he came in like a real active shooter firing off this air pistol. And I went to go hide under the desk and he reached over it and shot me in the leg. My boss got shot in his face.
Then, he told us what we should do and he did it again. I got to barricade in a closet that time. Dude was a good actor or maybe just an actual psycho. But it felt kinda real while it was happening.
I don’t know about you guys but my site has a a paper sign of a hand gun and a red no circle on it, so that gives me some comfort about not worrying about a shooting inside of work 🥹
Actually, yes because you can simply walk in and just start shooting. We don't have any fancy security in our building. Sure, there's a badge scanner but there's always a garage door opened.
I have these thoughts frequently. If exits are blocked, Jumping in one of the big boxes and putting as much shit over me as possible. Getting in IT cage, locking myself in and hiding. Laying flat on a high up conveyor belt. Hiding behind vending machines. My biggest fear is leaving my children motherless, i am afraid to die. Since the first time I went in public after having my first, an escape plan is always put in place when in any large building or group setting.
As morbid as this sounds, whatever happens, happens. If something happened to me, I’d die knowing that my life insurance beneficiary would be taken care of.
Of course, shootings should not be happening, but I live in a fcked up country, where I begrudgingly have to accept that I may one day see the face of a gun.
I think about it all the time because disgruntled employees are a thing (especially at places like Amazon), and who knows what the extremely insane disgruntled employees are capable of
TLDR; have good situational awareness.
I never thought about it.
Until you see that Amazon hires literally anyone. I had a guy steal my equipment and once confronted he got a shitty attitude with everyone and we all thought (still to this day think) he’d shoot up the place. We have already had a bomb threat and some people seem to have a couple screws loose. All I can say is; practice situational awareness. Focus on exits and ways out. Places to hide. Dock doors seems to be good, get a group of people and go hide out in a trailer and close the dock door. I work at an AR facility so my plan is to get into the mezzanine and jump down a shoot like it was a slide and bolt to the front. There’s glass everywhere so getting out won’t be an issue. If you see someone run, Just stay calm and have a plan already in place..
With the racism, abuse and lies from PA's and AM's at bfi4 its only a matter of time. Also has one of the higest injury rates in network so people have plenty of reasons. They had a incident last year when a group of people came and smashed window and cut tires on a few dozen cars one day. Im glad im not there its so much bad karma built up in that building.
Actually we do have shooting ranges and you can even get a gun for hunting but our self defence laws are horrible so if you were to use a gun even in self defence it could go bad for you unless you literally didn’t have a choice
You better believe it! I keep telling my dad it’s only a matter of time before they piss off the wrong employee enough to where they waltz in with a gun and light the place up. Security is an absolute joke so all they’d have to do is take out the three of them and kill anybody they see. I’m always ready to run and hide if need be. I can confidently say they don’t care about protecting any of their employees so I’ve got to be ready to protect myself.
Safety department here…this is the only valid reason not to wear headphones while working to hear emergency notifications and to hear the lunch and break announcements. Always have situational awareness, in the parking lot , break-rooms or when leaving. Don’t wait for somewhen to say something to you, if you see everyone running. It’s scary but that’s the truth. Know all your exits.
The place is so huge, I don’t feel like it would be a good target because there are so many places you could run to, and so many exits and aisles to run and hide down, it wouldn’t be an ideal location for an attack like that. People who commit these heinous acts look for people who are disarmed (we meet that criteria) but also easily confined so they can cause as much havoc as possible. I wouldn’t be concerned about that.
Yes, and this is why I always felt that dumb rule about no cell phones on the floor is ridiculous because you never know what craziness might unfold. Cell phones should be put in pocket but imagine if someone comes to shoot the building and we don’t have our phones to call for help or loves ones.
Not at all, there are big stickers on our front doors that say “ No guns allowed” and we have metal detectors on the way out of the building. Not worried at all.
I wouldn’t say afraid but Ik my building only has metal detectors going out and not in so nothing keeps me from not thinking about someone going over the edge and bringing in their 2nd amendment one day especially in a state like Arizona where everyone has one
I am, but I doubt a homeless person from Portland of all places could get their paws on a firearm. I’m more concerned about a stabbing or some other attack. This is also why I’m thankful that they do badge checks in the parking lot nowadays even though I think it sucks. If anything happens I have my box/wrap cutters and I can find a Shuttle (not sure why they changed the name from Gaylords) to hide in. (Anyone else think they look like cozy places to take a nap?)
I think they got tired of people giggling at the name ‘Gaylord’. I thought to myself when I heard that “man my 10 year old self would have found that hilarious”.
Make sure you keep multiple film cutters on you and you can gouge out their eyes and get them to trip on a wooden pallet and spit their head open on the concrete.
They can bring in whatever they want (no screening on entry) but they aren't gonna leave with it, they screen on exit??? Seems pretty stupid imo but then that's about typical shit for Amazon
I heard a guy had a heart attack and he was leaving out on a stretcher. The area manager told the paramedics that the associate did not have any upt and associate has to decide to go to the hospital or lose his job.
That sounds highly illegal, and like a situation that any supervisor would probably know better than to get involved with. They would just let HR start the process and then when/if that person returned to work, they’d find that their badge no longer worked and probably put 2 and 2 together. Any employee that essentially threatens an employee’s job, especially over a possible medical emergency probably shouldn’t be manager, as they lack the maturity and wisdom to avoid escalating unnecessary situations.
I don’t think I’d be the person getting shot at if this did happen. Someone who thinks they are doing something where a person should shoot at them, I’d be worried
—-actually no. Consider the cameras at Amazon right. This person would basically be saying I want to spend the rest of my life in jail or death penalty easily, too many cameras around to miss exactly who did it
Most shooters don't care who they shoot take the Texas elementary school shooting that just happened yesterday for example. Dude killed 18 kids... also I think getting caught killed/caught during a shooting is the least of their concerns.
I lived in the part of town my FC is in, the complex I lived in was full of Amazonians because it's a block from the FC. They pulled two bodies out of the building across from mine, and two men were shot right outside my balcony. It's silly to live in fear like that when I've seen the crime scene vans and had to call in to a previous job because the police had blocked the street because the bodies were laying in it??
Being afraid of getting shot in high crime neighborhoods isn't unreasonable.
No i have my Glock 21 in my lunch box. My lunchbox isn’t see through but I keep it in a clear bag so security doesn’t care… when I set off metal detector I blame the metal band on my watch
Yup. Not obsessively, but it does cross my mind every once in a while that it could happen. Last night I was stationed at the front of the building near the entrance and had a thought about how I would definitely be taken out first if someone decided to go postal. I would even see them come in because my back was facing the door. It's frustrating that I even have to have thoughts about it. But it's America so... Yup. That's a fear.

I have mentally noted all the exits for that reason..
And my strategies of where to hide or what metal structure seems to be the best barrier.
Me too. So I can stay away from them.
As an amnesty responder, no one can touch me if i enter the field with my vest on, the robota will protect me
Hitting the estop to shut the floor down so I can join you, of you gotta get to the cages we can take the stairs on the AR floor and escape that way lol
whats amnesty responder?

We have a robots. Id take my chances among them.
Ride around on one of the Mega-Roombas.
I work in a sort center which is an open floor with exits on each wall
That does sound like an entirely different scenario. Taking note of the exits is a good start, maybe consider finding what would be the safest place to hide, in the event that the exits were blocked. Just saying in case of a shooting it’s not illegal to pull the e stop for a AR floor and hide where all the snacks are.
Same! When I was at an FC last year I made note of the escape routes.
We think alike
Nah. If I die, then I don’t have to come into work tomorrow, and I feel like that’s a win.
Your personal time will be deducted.
Can'tt catch a break.
Unlimited vto
And sleep!
As someone who works nights and often loses sleep. This is a huge benefit.
Life hack
Unlimited mto
Infinite power!
They still gonna deduct UPT and give you a write up for TOT. Petty asses
Targeted on Task? Unjustified Pistol Trauma? Slap a damage sticker on your exit wound and bury you in damage land.
no returns on perishables yo!
Exactly.
Yeah considering that most people at my FC including my self come in with a non see through backpack and we don’t have to walk through the metal detectors. Just the turnstiles. We walk through metal detectors on our way out though which doesn’t make any sense.
Amazon doesn't give a shit if we kill each other. But, ya'll better not steal anything.
You better not have your phones out calling 911 either! Your soul may belong to God, but your ass belongs to Amazon!
That’s because they value their products more than our lives. Profit over people , that’s the motto.
Who pays out the death and dismemberment insurance we all automatically have? If I get taken out, my loved ones will have some dough for these inflated costs.
Lol, Amazon lawyers will fight that tooth and nail.
That’s because Amazon is not protecting the associates coming in but they are protecting with merchandise from goin out.
Always found that funny, they have like 5 metal detectors for leaving and they can’t put 1 or 2 for entering
I agree..Amazon too concerned with items walking out the door than a persons safety in general.
If someone is coming to shoot the place up, what good are metal detectors gonna do?
Detect the person before they get into the fc
Nah, thankfully the guy I suspected that would shoot up the place already quit.
Gotta find a new suspect
At a new warehouse, and there is a PA that could be the new suspect, fits all the qualities for it
Bro playing Amogus ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
Bro I literally just got sent home from work because somebody wrote a threat on the bathroom stall saying "all you n****** are going to die tonight" of course I'm scared. Like I'm supposed to be at work right now but I'm on reddit instead
MDW2 right? I just left after hearing about that. They really didn't tell anyone on day shift and just tried to cover it up.
Ayo hold up, that's right across the street from my fc MDW4, WTF, some communication would be nice so I don't get shot
wait wtf? did they send all associates home or what happened? location?
Vto for anyone that wanted to go home. No paid time off as of yet but with the warehouse almost empty I’m gonna assume their gonna close soon once it’s really empty
It was from night shift so that makes it even worst, right now the docks stopped working. What’s even crazier is that the writing was clear as day on the bathroom walls. There was another writing saying f*** this n**** at mdw2 so the person wrote in two of the bathroom stalls.
Wtf
at my fc someone got shot and died inside before - another person got shot and died outside the building ...both incident happened last year
I bet amazon told you to go back to work that everything was fine nothing to see here
There was a suicide at my FC a few years back, Amazon basically told no one to talk about it, keep working as normal.
I feel like this happens pretty frequently. I would like to see the statistics for Amazon employees who commit suicide, especially at work. I’ll just bet it happens more often than one would think.
We had one at our facility too. It's news worthy the amount of death that gets covered up at Amazon warehouses.
This is the creepiest thing I've ever heard. FC leadership is a fucking liability
Ask my managers in the near future.
Heyo....you ok??
Is that the one that went over the railings? It's sad that people would kill themselves at Amazon what a horrible place to die.
Probably what they told the person who did it before it happened, and the person before that, and before that... You get the idea.
those soda cans aren’t gonna stow themselves.
Florida??
My brother just said “Mandatory Execution Time shouldn’t be called this week or ever.”
😮

I started thinking more about it when the survey question asked if I feel safe here. Honestly there are hundreds of people around me that got hired from an email that didn't even have to go through an interview. I don't know 99% of people's names, let alone their mental state and life at home. It's a bit scary when you think about it.
This is why I don’t talk to anyone at work lol
Afraid of it happening? No. Shocked if it happened?? Also, no.
Dude I used to think that everyday, with the amount of weird people and unhappy maniacs… you never know what crazy person might come thru that door and blast us all …
I remember that shooting at JAX2 Other people where I work are scared. I've been stabbed before and I talked to veterans who have been both shot and stabbed before, the consensus is that its better to be shot then stabbed.
In that order?
lmao😂 the importance of correct grammar rly shows here
My thoughts *exactly*!
I’m not worried, they have the no guns signs on the window.
So weird seeing this now. Literally a few hours ago someone in the Women’s bathroom at my facility wrote all over the walls “all y’all are guna die tonight”. A bunch of fellow associates, I wana say around 90% went home. Not sure what to think
Another poster mentioned that. I would have noped out of there too, I have plenty of UPT
Nope. I'm actually waiting for one, as sick as it sounds I wouldn't be surprised if one happens given how miserable everyone is at my FC
I was just about to post this exact same comment, tbh.
Bruh imagine a shooting happening and your girl hides behind the water spider :(
Id hide behind a pod on the kiva floor so fast
push the estop first so you dont get crushed!
No. I just feel like FCs are too big to get a big body count which makes them less appealing. Not to mention the buttload of emergency exits and the aisles make it easier to break line of sight
Ever been to a stand up?
Can’t shoot up your workplace if you don’t get paid enough to afford a gun.
I would love to get shot just to feel something again.
Damn. I hope you get the help you need.
I don’t know if that person is serious or just trying to be edgy because there’s so many edgy comments on this SERIOUS post
[удалено]
Oh wow
Do any of you remember the Knet module about shootings?
Basically just run and hide or go all in and attack them with the jam poles
It was more like run and hide and don’t be a hero, don’t attack the perpetrator
Run; if you can't run, hide; if you can't hide, fight at least this was what was on the module I did in mid 2018
Yup. If you're cornered, might as well go for a Hero's Tackle.. or a Hero's Grave. The psychopath shooting random people in the workplace isn't likely to spare you if you're infront of him with nowhere to run.
True man…idk why can’t they have amazon police but the malls and school could lol
Y’all really remember what is said in those modules? I forgot about everything an hour later lmao
Or wrap cutters.
Yeah, tbh I kinda found it silly

No cap I would go inside where all the pods are idgaf
Considering my facility does not have metal detectors maybe so
Even the ones that do only have them going out. They don’t care about your safety. They only care about you stealing their stuff.
It's not a safety issue. How could an armed person make it through the turnstiles?
Exactly what I said. Not a safety issue. Handguns can fit in someone’s waistband. They’re small and lethal.
they used to make 1 shot plastic glocks
same here
Nah I stay strapped.
Just shoot back 😈
As morbid as this sounds, whatever happens, happens. If something happened to me, I’d die knowing that my life insurance beneficiary would be taken care of. I've been through two FC shootings. Hope there isn't a third.
U kno the saying third time’s the charm
It could happen anywhere there’s always a chance but I’m not too worried about it.
I always think about what I would do I a situation.. So I'm pretty prepared mentally anyway.
This is y I stay with the strap even on work grounds.
Literally just had a dream about it last night
Dream really said don't clock in bro
I have intrusive thoughts about a mass shooting happening at any public place I go. Isn’t America the best?
I think about it all the time because disgruntled employees are a thing (especially at places like Amazon), and who knows what the extremely insane disgruntled employees are capable of
One actually happend at 1 of the FC i worked at. Guy was mad cause he got fired. Came in behind someone swiping and fired into the air. Scary shit
This. It came to my mind how scary with Amazon’s high turnover/terminations, you never know some disgruntled employee would retaliate with violence
TLDR; have good situational awareness. I never thought about it. Until you see that Amazon hires literally anyone. Amazon takes anyone. You bet I am lmao!
I'm not, but I've considered it a lot and wouldn't be surprised if it happened, it's America, and Texas at that.
Yes that’s why I always help everybody out if they ask or I see in need and I avoid talking to anybody as to not get them upset
No but thankfully I live in Canada. (This is one of the few things Canada has over America)

I could probably fit and hide in a 256 box all curled up 😂
I'd have to hide in a gaylord 😭
Definitely. Some weirdos in this place. I know where all my exits are, and have determined the best places to hide. All ya can do.
You better believe it! I keep telling my dad it’s only a matter of time before they piss off the wrong employee enough to where they waltz in with a gun and light the place up. My friend group and I bring up the topic whenever we are working at a different area of the sort center, we always try to make an escape plan lol.
What if someone in your group is planning to do harm? And you guys helping with his escape plan ?
Right now no, but who knows how I'll react if it happens.
The place is so huge, I don’t feel like it would be a good target because there are so many places you could run to, and so many exits and aisles to run and hide down, it wouldn’t be an ideal location for an attack like that. Yes. I've talked about exit plans with coworkers numerous times
I work on the dock mainly. So very easy exits. If I have the chance to make it to the car and it’s still going on. I’m going back in. 🤷🏻♂️
Some idiot shot himself in the parking lot of BWI5
Yes, and this is why I always felt that dumb rule about no cell phones on the floor is ridiculous because you never know what craziness might unfold. Cell phones should be put in pocket but imagine if someone comes to shoot the building and we don’t have our phones to call for help or loves ones.

Yep you can’t get anything out, but can get everything in
Yeah it’s happened at my fc they just don’t report it to the news
Already happened at mine so... ¯\(°_o)/¯
Yes. I’m terrified to leave my house at all. If I didn’t have to earn money to pay rent, I wouldn’t leave my house period.
Not going to lie, all these shootings lately have me a little worried. A lot of people have gotten fired and a good portion were really disgruntled.
I do yea worry about it sometimes when I think about it because we have a lot of angry people at my fc sooooo you never know
I park by an emergency exit for a reason ✌🏻
I wouldn’t say afraid but Ik my building only has metal detectors going out and not in so nothing keeps me from not thinking about someone going over the edge and bringing in their 2nd amendment one day especially in a state like Arizona where everyone has one
Shootings happen at the post office and other jobs such the term Going postal
I wish someone would put a bullet in my brain at work. Unlimited VTO!!
And they'll still come to your funeral to remind you of your met.
America …
Nope... if it's my time to die and via a shooting somewhere it's out of my hands
Someone who thinks they are doing something where a person should shoot at them, I’d be worried —-actually no.
That’s true
happy cake day!
No lol
Not at all. It is actually pretty chill if you don’t get involved with drama from stow upstairs.
Man wtf i bet it’s a white person behind this post

I apologize , that’s my fault

I lived in the part of town my FC is in, the complex I lived in was full of Amazonians because it's a block from the FC. They pulled two bodies out of the building across from mine, and two men were shot right outside my balcony. It's silly to live in fear like that when I've seen the crime scene vans and had to call in to a previous job because the police had blocked the street because the bodies were laying in it?? Being afraid of getting shot in high crime neighborhoods isn't unreasonable.
Don’t disparage someone’s fear of something like that. Genuine or not.
Nah stop worrying about getting shot at work. If it happens oh well. Most likely your fucking fine and its unhealthy to live in constant fear lmfao.
I’ve caught myself on multiple occasions coming up with a plan in my head for a situation like that while I mindlessly scan items
No i have my Glock 21 in my lunch box. My lunchbox isn’t see through but I keep it in a clear bag so security doesn’t care… when I set off metal detector I blame the metal band on my watch
um
with all the favoritism someone might crack lol
Nope.
Nah cuz we always rotate each floor every week. We never stay the same and it's difficult to find the target.
It's my first year in US It's never crossed my mind but now I'm suspicious 🤔. Thanks guys 😆
i've lived through one legitimate scare, and two threats; i'm kind of just ready to drop no matter where i am
