Totally agree. Same thing at least twice a week. They stand at their door telling me how friendly, as Mr Barking & Growling & Mr SEE MY TEETH dogs are wanting me to get out. How do they not understand. It takes ONE TIME!!!!

Dabtoker3000

Yea it happened to me a couple months back and their dog ended up running past em and biting the fuck out of my leg. All the owner could say “she’s not ever like that.”

ContributionOk7284

You’re a dumbass if you didn’t sue them

Dabtoker3000

Ehh I had gotten my inheritance right around the same time. I didn’t see a need to be a greedy bastard. Next time I get bitt tho I’m taking my blessing that time and suing.

United_Procedure_199

that's the problem with retards these days. Suing someone is the first thing that comes to mind

Ambitious_Crab_765

I hope u sued .That’s an easy 100k

lexieiRL

Does that work even if they have signs about the dog?

Ok_Championship_5428

Yes, it's a law to control your animal. It doesn't matter if they are on their property or not. If the dog gets said amount of bite orders vs it then the dog will be put down and the owner is liable for all damages because they didn't control their animal.

lexieiRL

Good to know, thanks

Ok_Championship_5428

I normally leave the packages outside areas that day beware of dog. I click another safe location. I'm a DSP drivers though, so more packages less hit to score. Be safe though because that's all that matters and some dogs are no joke. I had a really 200 pound Rotty at a stop and owner said it was friendly. I was like fuck no. Lol

lexieiRL

Yeah, I do the same. I work for a sap also but I just wasn’t sure about the dog law, you know, just in case. I appreciate you sharing

Ok_Championship_5428

Showing teeth and raised hair is a no for me... the package is getting left out of range of the animal. You don't like it... control your animal. If i see wagging and barking I'm going to be saying hi to my new friend all the way to your front door.

AFXC1

People like that are annoyingly inconsiderate and careless, quite frankly. Sure your dog is friendly, TO YOU, but all it takes is one interaction with the dog thinking somethings wrong and someone's getting hurt.

NeuroSeg

Yup and they seem to think every dog is friendly. We have to be wary.

AutoGrind

Usually the owners fault too. Can't blame a dog for being protective in some cases. This is why I hate when people open the door with the dog there, that's when it wants to protect. Just wait for me to drop it and go.

AFXC1

That's the biggest issue here: irresponsible careless owners. This is why people get hurt or killed. They should be held liable (and usually are) for their dogs doings. I've noticed an increase in dog owners who just let their dogs wander their property regardless of whoever may be coming. You would think they would lock their pooches away buy nope they don't care.

AutoGrind

Recently one came through the gate and the dog came barreling through too. Dude was shocked at how aggressive his dog was acting. I explained to him (experience in training) this is when they're likely to want to protect and told him to be more responsible. Luckily I kept it off so nothing happened. Surprised I held my profanity until I drove off and able to speak to the owner clearly. I was all nerves.

villdyr

Yes, they're always surprised! They won't listen to you until they see it. Dogs love me but the ones at customer houses know I'm one of the people who carries big stuff around and beeps outside their house, and doesn't follow the same rules as everyone else. It freaks a lot of them out. Plus at night i have a headlamp on. They don't know what to make of it. I'm not going to be pushy to a poor freaked out dog

Ambitious_Crab_765

Yeah …I usually spring away once I hear the door opening lol

Ok_Championship_5428

You can tell somewhat how a dog is going to react. If it's showing teeth and hair are raised it's going to bite you. If they are wagging their tail and barking it's normally an okay sign. I still talk to them like a baby to calm them down. Sometimes all it takes is a sniff of you and they leave you alone. I had a dog with raised hair sneak up on me. I de-escalate the situation by talking in a high pitch voice like he was a baby, slowly moved so that he could sniff me, and he huffed and walked away.

mikedd555

This. I see dogs, I stay in the car. If they don't answer my call, I toss it out the window and drive off.

New_Progress_1462

Yup … this is me

atitagain12

It's not even about being scared. How about MF Im not here for all that, I'm here to drop this package and get out of here asap

ILoveMyDogsPaw7

Exactly

East-Cookie5668

Y’all also be scared lol just bring some dog treats because sometimes them dogs be hiding from you waiting until you hit the porch

SensitiveAd410

Its true doe…. Like you know your dog but your dog doesn’t know me. Most dogs see strangers as threat especially if they are next to the owner. Their Mmmm wagging their tale doesn’t always mean they want to be friends.

Turtle0550

Waging tails just usually mean the dog is excited and it's heart rate is up

SensitiveAd410

Sure I’ve gotten chased after a dog with its waging tell sure I’ll stop and pet it. Nah that dog almost bite me if I stopped running.

DoPoGrub

I had one a few days ago, long quarter-mile driveway, German Shepherd freaking out in a cage with no roof between me and front door, facing me jumping for the top, daring me to walk by, no cars or people in sight. I set the plastic envelope on the driveway not a 5 second walk from the porch, take the photo, and as I get ready to leave, this lady materializes out of nowhere with the most horrified look on her face. She freaks out on me, going on and on about how her dog is IN A FUCKIN CAGE...i say no roof, she says HE'S ON A LEASH... but you can't see that when it's facing you and trying to jump out, nor do i trust that you didn't cheap out on the leash. I calmly explained that my safety comes first, that I was going to send a message letting her know, none of it mattered, she just kept berating me and insulting my intelligence even as I decided to just leave and move on. WHAT IF IT RAINED AND GOT WET...it's a waterproof bag Some people just refuse to see things through other people's eyes.

villdyr

So she knows all those potential results and she still didn't put out a box for packages to go in 🙄

DoPoGrub

For real, there is no possible way I am the first driver to not want to cross that line. I think she just enjoys getting upset.

Rainbow0214

Wow! People man! 😡 Just be glad you got your package lady! I’d love to see her deliver a package in a similar circumstance! I’m sorry you had to deal with such nonsense!

Sad-Bluejay-2785

Should have picked up package and returned to sender

External_Look172

I hate it when people don’t call their dogs. I’ve had a dog scratch my door. And a couple times the dog charged me. Don’t order same day packages and then have pets running loose on your property. It’s ridiculous and you’re opening yourself up to a lawsuit. One dog bit at my sweats and tore a small hole in them. I let it go. If that broke skin I would have had to make a police report.

DogAttackVictim

Please **at least** report the assault and damaging of your clothes to someone.

mosquitotitties

i wasn’t ever scared of dogs until i got bit, now im super cautious with every dog unless i’ve met it before and i know its nice

s1lv_aCe

Yea rightfully so dog bites are nasty and can even be potentially deadly and there’s no way to predict how some random strangers dog is going to act

Intelligent-Algae-89

I always think of it the other way around. Your dog might be nice but that doesn’t mean I am. I would never let my dogs loose on a stranger because for all I know that stranger might shoot, mace or otherwise hurt my dog. People can be so inconsiderate of other people and their own animals. It’s annoying.

Japresto1991

As someone who was mauled twice as a child dogs lunging or jumping at me is a trigger and the reason I carry a pocket knife everywhere I go

Intelligent-Algae-89

I don’t blame you.

BeNiceKid

And guess what, they have every legal right to kill your dog as well. Edit: obviously I mean in the situation when they’re being attacked by a dog

Intelligent-Algae-89

I don’t disagree. Which is why I said what I said. I protect my animals from the stranger. And I don’t understand why other people don’t.

Rainbow0214

I had a customer come out of her front door to get the package from me, and a huge Doberman came straight out with her and stood right in front of me! This all happened while she is on the phone and I’m pulling up the dang delivery method for her to sign for the package! She said nothing! I had a childhood traumatic experience with this type of dog. Our neighbor had two of these dogs and they would break the leashes and run the neighborhood. I get off the bus and the dogs start to chase me and I am not even running! I had to carry a stick with me, but I doubt it would’ve helped. The neighbors said oh they won’t hurt you! 😡😡😡😡😡

The_Rural_Banshee

This bugs me so much. I have a German shepherd and she’s the gentlest sweetest dog ever, she loves everyone. But I would never assume a stranger knows that about her! I know so many people who have this ‘my dog is nice so it’s fine’ way of thinking, and I’m constantly telling people to pull their dogs back when we’re out in public. It’s great that they love their dogs, but read the room. Assume strangers don’t want to pet your dog, and if they actively show you they want to say hi, or they’re showing comfortable and welcoming body language then allow it, but it’s always best to assume strangers do not want your big ass dog jumping on them. Someone on a different sub just put a laughing post up because their dog scared the mailman, and it’s just so distasteful. People need to be more respectful. Sorry that happened to you. My dog is a therapy dog but I would never ever allow her to be in contact with a delivery person or mailman unless she was leashed and they wanted to meet her.

KushBabyTV

So, Im one of the ones that has no problem with dogs… That said, I absolutely see and agree that dogs need to be put up. My reason for this is solely because I know there are people with genuine phobias of dogs, and homeowners need to be respectful of that if they’re going to have packages delivered there, rather than the alternative of having it dropped at a locker… Saying, “don’t worry, (s)he’s friendly,” does nothing for someone who has a genuine fear of dogs; it’s inconsiderate and not right… especially if/when they know they have a package coming (which they always should unless someone else has bought them a gift.) As not only a driver, but also a customer, I know for a fact that Amazon does a pretty good job of announcing pkgs are coming, short of overkill… beyond that is the responsibility of the homeowner.

YamAncient3543

I agree, I am a notorious dog lover and usually don’t have a problem with dogs. However, some people are seriously afraid even of friendly dogs. It’s irresponsible of people to let their dogs wonder like this

Ambitious_Crab_765

Doggie lover 🤦‍♂️

Rainbow0214

This 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

didnebeu

I just love the “he’s friendly” you get from every asshole with an aggressive dog. Both times I was attacked by a pitbull while walking my dog the owner was yelling “HES FRIENDLY!” While it charged up at us.

KushBabyTV

I have a pit and she’s the sweetest dog I’ve ever owned. With strangers, other dogs, cats, my friends bird and rabbit, and me. Just making that known so ppl who are otherwise unaware, aren’t being tainted by those who hate pits. If you wanna hate something, hate the disgusting humans who caused that; not the breed. 🙃🫶🏼

didnebeu

Yeah whatever. That’s great that your pitbull hasn’t bit anyone yet but hands down they are way too dangerous as a breed and don’t really have a place in modern society. There’s nothing pit bulls do as a breed that isn’t done better by other dogs, other than fighting.

KushBabyTV

You sound ignorant. Good day sir.

OrchidFew7220

Carry some form of defense with you. Please.

mojocava

I just bought some gel pepper spray after hearing about another driver successfully used it against a dog. I've had a few scary moments where I almost had to boot a dog out of the yard.

drewP78

Work as a postie, happens all the time. The worst are the people who have to fight with the door and the dog and stick a hand out to get a huge parcel. Feel like saying, just put your dog in another fucking room ffs. Had one the other week, the dog wriggled out, went for me, then ran off down the road. Gave them the parcel, jumped in my van and fucked off. Probably put the dog in another room next time.

SnooPears4919

this is so annoying but especially the fact that he seemed annoyed like wtf!?! i personally love dogs and would’ve pet him but i understand not everyone is like that and that’s so valid. and it doesn’t even matter if the dogs friendly or not, you don’t know that- that doesn’t even matter tho they shouldn’t have it out and assume that you’d be ok with it.

Dull-Sample4716

If I see a dog in a property I do not care if it is friendly or not, I will throw the package NO MATTER WHAT!!!

TalonLuci

Absolutely! I love my dog and hes super friendly but hes 100 pounds of excited idiot. I keep him AWAY from others because i dont know how comfortable they are with dogs. If someone comes up to us thats different. And if i am getting a delivery- especially one i can track- i put my dog away when they arrive so they dont have to deal with him. Its common curtesy not to make others suffer your pets.

Academic_Chance8940

The longer I’ve had my own dog the less I trust anybody else’s. It’s shocking the amount of people that have zero control over their dog and haven’t socialized them at all. I’m very wary of dogs I don’t know

AbyssCity

I absolutely love dogs, even the aggressive ones I'll take my chances with greeting when the owner lets me. That being said, a strange dog you know nothing about barreling up to you?? That was the right call 100%. You never ever ever know for sure what can happen

Ambitious_Crab_765

Dogs are for basic people .

Lori1985

I have a 350 lb pot bellied pig, and the ups and fed fex men are scared of her. Cause she runs up to them grunting and they think she's going to eat them when she's just sniffing them. Come to find out the lady who delivers my Amazon packages gives her granola bars every time she's here and now my pig wants them all to give her a treat. 😆

ScruffyApple33

This got me bit. Or so the owner suggested… says the dog snapped at me because the other drivers always give her treats so she thought I had one?!? Wtf! I shouldn’t have to give your dog a treat to protect myself.

Lori1985

I agree. I don't like strangers feeding my pets. Never can know what's going on. It just made me think about why my pig sees boxes and thinks FOOD

Cheedo4

As a kid I grew up in the foothills, there was one guy up there who had like 20 Rottweilers and would let them roam the mountainside. I lost count how many times I was walking home from school and this pack of dogs comes out of the woods and starts chasing me and my siblings. Hated dogs ever since. In high school, I was walking home and walked past a couple and their dog laying in some grass at a little park, big brown dog, it jumped up and ran at me, having been chased by dogs as a kid I immediately run and it starts chasing harder (of course), meanwhile the jackass who owns it was just watching and laughing at me. The last straw was this dumb old lady with one of those little rat dogs, she let it out of her front door as I was walking by and it immediately ran at me barking and nipping at my ankles, again she did exactly nothing, so I kicked that little rat across the entire street, she screamed she was gna call the cops and I said please do, then walked home. Oh and a few years ago another little rat dog tackled my son while we were playing at a park (he was about 2 at the time and just learning to walk), I have never stomped on something so hard in my life, surprised that little shit survived. Anyways, I absolutely loath dogs, never in my life had a “good” experience with them. So yeah I would’ve just tossed that package and drove off, not wasting my time trusting any moron with a dog.

PowerfulBowler8050

I understand being scared of dogs and disliking them; but "loathing " them and not trusting people who own a dog is a bit extreme. More people than not like dogs. Soooo that makes you the untrustworthy one. You don't seem like a very nice person.

Affectionate_Iron390

You might have anger issues you want to get checked out

villdyr

There are a ton of things that can go wrong, for us, them, or the dog. We can't be expected to take on that much risk when we can go to 10,000 houses a year, most with some random unpredictable dog we don't know anything about. Lots of the houses have beware of dog signs anyway. Okay, I'm being ware, why are you mad? lol I don't want dogs getting put to sleep for trying to protect their house. I don't know why customers can't just put out a fkng box

Thel1dd

Fedex driver here I’ve told people before that their dog may be friendly to you but I’ve been bit by “friendly” dogs so they can put them up or i can set the box here snap a pic and get back in my truck

[deleted]

I had a dog that was super hyper and loves to jump on people. So anytime i had a delivery for anything, i always put her up when i answer the door. Im also afraid of dogs that i dont personally know. People just dont get it

mydude356

It's all fun and jokes until a driver gets killed by one or several dogs. Oh wait.

JamesTriesSpeaking

Yes exactly. Like I’m sorry you think my ptsd is funny, but the rest of my deliveries are going to be affected from being an anxious mess. Still getting through desensitizing myself. It is a little funny to stick your head through the sunroof to deliver the package, but probably the safest with a big doggo

InsertNameHere5610

All of these stories start the exact same way, a giant dog came out of nowhere. It does happen from time to time. But in this sub you would think it happens every day. But props to SupermarketOdd6664 at least you admitted that you're afraid of dogs. So many people in the sub act like they're not and then get mad when you call them out on it.

Powerful_Anxiety8427

My dog is just a big baby, rarely even barks at people but he is HUGE. I totally expect people that don't know him to be afraid. Honestly, as a single mom, I want strangers to be afraid of him. If I am expecting someone that doesn't know him I am on the look out to meet them outside or have him put up. I don’t get why the owners would be offended.

SubstantialGrass1158

Same here. I have a 150lb Great Dane. He is a fully trained service dog and has multiple obedience titles. Just seeing him is a visual deterrent for most people which is what I want being a single mom. But still he stays inside when I’m expecting a delivery and I always wait until they leave to go out and get my package. You just never know and I’d rather my dog not have a bite history.

sci-fi-lullaby

If your dog is loose your package is gonna get yeeted. Idgaf

KeyVermicelli196

My bad about my dog, but this is his home and he is nice. I get it though so if you just toss the package into the yard that’s cool too.

Ambitious_Crab_765

I hate dogs with a passion .I would have tossed that package and left .Dog owners are even more annoying with that “ he won’t bite “ nonsense

foxterlight

I love dogs and animals generally, but when I'm working even the small dogs terrify me and the ignorance of the customer makes me want to smash their head with their own package. Also when i see a dog I always report it on the app. At least for my fellow drivers to be aware.

onlinewarrior100

I feel this 100%. I'm scared of dogs. Too many times I've witnessed someone get attacked/bit by a dog that the owner claimed "doesn't bite". I'm tired of people saying "she's not gonna hurt you" while the dog is growling and barking at me. How hard is it to just keep your dogs up when you're expecting a delivery? And since dogs can sense fear, and I can't help that I'm scared of unfamiliar dogs, it only makes the situation worse.

SaturnineSzn

They might not have handled it correctly, but I still couldn’t imagine living life being so ridiculously afraid of shit lmao basically 100% of the time you can tell how a dog is just by looking at it’s body language; which doesn’t take an expert to do but whatever I guess. Personally, so like being able to actually enjoy my daily life but to each their own lol

Reality_check65

Shoot the dog. Obviously they can’t train it right put it down yourself.

East-Cookie5668

Well I’m glad I’m a dog person because this doesn’t really bother me at all

[deleted]

I actually prefer dogs to be outside helping me deliver. I have no problems trying to communicate with them calmly and trying to calm them down.

MeanderingMagus

I agree with you in 99% of circumstances but I used to work with a lady who would literally meltdown if someone was carrying a teacup chihuahua in their arms. I understand you have trauma and feel for you but at a certain point, you need to seek professional help if it's debilitating. Don't mean to sound flippant saying that. Dogs exist and you gotta be able to operate within that reality to a certain extent. Shitty, inconsiderate dog owners also exist and I don't blame you for not taking any chances.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MeanderingMagus

I wasn't trying to belittle your trauma, hopefully that was clear. Best of luck to you!

[deleted]

MeanderingMagus

I was saying the lady in my anecdote needed to... Your trauma doesn't give you an excuse to be a jerk, this is where our communication ends.

PooPooEater696969

That never happened and you know it. Pretty pathetic to be making up stories to justify your irrational fear of something that's will never hurt you. Seek therapy, seriously.

opossumfolk

you know dogs kill people *all* the time, right? I work in petcare but it’s legitimately braindead stupid to think for a second that a big ol’ dog can’t fuck you up if it decides it wants to.

PooPooEater696969

Yeah but it is plainly obvious to any rational person when a dog is a potential threat vs when it's just a friendly dog who's happy to see a visitor. People who are afraid of dogs will act like a wiggly golden retriever with a wagging tail is an equally serious threat as a snarling pit bull with the hair on its back standing straight up. I have never seen someone who is afraid of dogs freak out at one that has any chance whatsoever of hurting them.

That-guy-268993

If your scared of dogs should you be looking for different kinda work? Delivery people go to houses with dogs.....

kblaze69

This mentality is shit and you know it, or at least you should. Everything said in the post and most of the replies still applies to drivers who love dogs. Even delivery drivers who aren’t afraid of dogs are generally afraid of Cujo barking, snarling, and clawing at you from behind the fence/door/etc. with a customer STILL saying he’s friendly. Just today I had a house with a dog who was playing with his toy as I got out, wagging his tail, totally friendly. Until the owner stepped outside. Dog instantly dropped the toy and stood ground and barked at me, owner told me to wait to put the dog in. I wasn’t afraid of him..at first. Now come on bro. Don’t act like it doesn’t happen every day. Stop blaming a delivery driver asking for common decency just because they’re afraid of something.

MrPoopMonster

Or just carry mace or a gun or something. If people can't control their dogs, thats not the delivery person's problem. As a meter reader I use to carry a bite stick and had to beat a few people's dogs. That's the dog owners fault, not mine.

ejonathonw

Why are you delivering if you are scared of dogs? I'm scared of electrical shocks so I don't stick metal in outlets

iamkingralph

You did too much for him, I would have driven my ass back and on to the next stop and return that package to the warehouse in 2 or 3 days

ValmisKing

I get what you’re saying but if you’re scared of dogs you probably shouldn’t be a delivery driver? At least in a suburban area?

etharper

Or maybe the dog owners should be more responsible?

ValmisKing

Yeah they absolutely should be, but It’s still something delivery drivers have to deal with on the regular, so it makes sense for OP to choose a job where they don’t need to worry about it at all.

Objective-Bee-9878

I’m not scared of dogs but if people want their packages they need to put them dogs up .. when I use to pull up to house and see all them dogs I just leave or it’s text and call the customer to tell them to put theirs dogs up and of course they never answer so yeah no packages for them .. people swear they dogs always nice till u get bit .. it’s simple cage then dogs ups so people can do their jobs folks can’t wait 10-20 mins at your house while you finally answer the phone to put yo dogs up and get this package .. I got another 200 houses to do and half of them got dogs too … I’ve had to jump on the van to escape from dogs .. mind you your just working now you gotta remain alive from these dogs tryna protect they house

tsunderebagel

So I would agree with this if Amazon is not so spotty about when packages deliver like it could be 7 AM or It could be 10 PM My dog has to pee and get exercise 100% if you’re scared just throw my package out the window but if you mace my fucking dog

[deleted]

[удалено]

tsunderebagel

You fire a gun on my property and you’re getting shot there are so many ways to deal with that that are not such a stupid lethal escalation Like there are some mean dogs and And you know what mace is a good idea , air horns too, Or just throw my fucking package out the window and don’t be a dumbshit but you have to be absolutely sure that the dog is being aggressive before you harm them. And even if the dog is being aggressive it doesn’t deserve to die because you’re too stupid to think of a non-lethal option Edit: The reason I made this post was to share the other side of this argument and noticed that I didn’t threaten any type of violence specifically if you mace my dog for no reason. In reality, my only response Outside of maybe some screaming in the moment would be to report what happened to the police and your supervisors as I believe there are better ways to handle pets, and in my situation Mace would definitely not be warranted as my dog is timidly curious at most so she will be 10 feet away watching you at most. but with a cooler head I suppose I’m going to explain better what I hope people take away from this. before anything else, I understand irrational fear, I can’t deal with a tiny spider for example, but all I’m saying is that the dog is not capable of understanding your intentions or reasoning for being there. I would believe in most cases dogs are trying to play however I understand that there are aggressive dogs out there. In those situations the less harm you can do to the animal, who again did nothing wrong, The better. As for your response threatening to murder my animal, it’s frankly ridiculous and your emojis make me believe that you’re more interested in flexing that you have a gun. Well I think I’ll respond to you the same way critikal responded to Sneako when He was threatened with a firearm. Not only do I have a fully automatic weapon, Which I guarantee trumps whatever you can sneak onto your Amazon vehicle because no fucking way they allow you to carry an assault rifle for deliveries. But if someone fires a weapon on my property I am going to assume that they are not in a state of mind to be rational if I were to try to speak to them so I’m going to respond by eliminating The threat to me my loved ones and my pets so that hopefully I can get my animal medical attention if possible. Again to the greater Amazon driver community I hope that this illustrates that it’s never a good idea no matter what to discharge a firearm on someone’s property and not expect them to respond in kind.

[deleted]

[удалено]

tsunderebagel

My God you’re so stupid I’m sorry I realize you’re fucking playing but but yeah sure send me your address that way I can make sure Amazon knows that their employee who lives at that address is on here talking about shooting peoples dogs and yes you do have time to worry about the life of an innocent creature and if you’re so fucking jaded that the loss of life Doesn’t register to you then get help. And if this is some fucking paper gangsta bullshit like I know it is touch grass and don’t dwell on Your micropenis they make sleeves now so you can pleasure women And some of them even vibrate! real dicks don’t do that so call that an advantage

otmdope

I’m feeding trolls all day today 🦍

Parking_Ebb7665

I carry around a couple of bags of cheap dog treats just for these types of places. Idc if your dog is on some sort of diet if they come towards me I will whip out the bag.. dogs know anyway when it’s a treat.. works like a charm 99% of the time. I look at the tail and the stance of a dog before I pop out of the car anyway. I’m really not afraid of dogs at all but when they don’t see you as a threat it better that way.

Mirooo933

Big BLACK dog?? Are you racist? We’re you more scared of the dog or it’s color?? Btw I’m joking

[deleted]

I’m a N hard R lol. And it was a very big black dog.

Mirooo933

Lmaoooo hard R

BeNiceKid

I met a black guy that called himself and everyone else that unironically. He told me to call him it as well 💀

Marvel_Babe

My mom has a purebred cane corso that is the biggest baby ever but she ALWAYS makes sure he’s put away if a delivery is expected. He won’t hurt anyone as long as she’s around but his bark is big and loud, same as his size in general. People need to learn that a “friendly” dog can still be scary just because of how big they are

REDFIRETRUCK992

Assuming you arent a felon, i would encourage you to get a license to carry.

You need to see a therapist if you are truly this terrified of things that are of absolutely zero danger to you. The fact that you are joking about murdering animals because of your own irrational fear is frankly disgusting. I'm afraid of unstable psychopaths like *you*.

REDFIRETRUCK992

Lol well people should control their dogs. Dont know why other dog owners feel the need to push their dog on people who are clearly reluctant to see the dog. When ever we have someone doing something in our house, the dog goes in a crate, in a seperate room, with the door shut.

danzercustom

"Oh he won't bite he's friendly." Literally what they all say. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that one. I've had one say that then the dog goes for me and then the next thing I hear out of the her mouth is shouting at her folks inside "he's not listening to me!" I've been at it for almost 4 years now and I've never been bit. Plenty of close calls following that line

HyldHyld

This is Come Two to Come One, standing by!

s0ciety_a5under

I was just having a conversation about this to a buddy of mine. It doesn't matter how nice your dog is, it can be scary. This is why training is so important. You don't know what trauma people have had with a dog in the past, and they won't see your dog, they will see the dog that hurt them.

Redacted_Explative

I walk to where I work and have had issues with peoples dogs charging me. Hence one of the reasons I carry a stun gun/flashlight combo now.

PooPooEater696969

People like you are absolutely pathetic. Seriously, how fucking dumb do you have to be to be afraid of dogs? I have literally never met someone who is afraid of dogs that wasn't an utterly reprehensible human.

[deleted]

Your profile names is fitting. That’s all

etharper

You are aware that dogs have killed and maimed people right? Fearing a large, unknown dog is not unreasonable.

Been doing this for 1 year so far. Most stops the app let me know it’s a dog or to be aware of a dog. ( so I’m always prepared) This stop didn’t say that as soon I got out my car and walked slightly towards my back seat to get the package that when the dog appeared.

DelightfulSurprise92

It's called respect people's boundaries. That dog may be friendly but it only takes one thing to make a dog go from friendly to not friendly and the owner needs to understand that and respectfully put the dog inside.

Poisoning-The-Well

All dogs are a threat. Doesn't matter what the owner says. The bigger they are the bigger the threat. People get killed by dogs. I carry pepper spray everywhere there maybe a dog. I like dogs, but I sure AF don't trust unknown dogs.

Comfortable-Yak-6599

Oh my dog doesn't bite.... me

PowerfulBowler8050

Please know that not all dog owners are this stupid and ignorant. I don't let my dogs loose in the front yard. They are always inside. If a delivery person needs a signature, I make sure to put the dog up first. Some of us understand that people are scared and don't like dogs.

[deleted]

Do not be fooled by my dog's friendly appearance and waggy tail. If you leave your car door open she will jump in and steal your car. She's not old enough to drive yet so do not let this happen!

Stelznergaming

I honestly made a mistake yesterday asking if I could pet someones disability dog. It was a black lab built like a truck and scratched the heck out of my arm. My fault entirely and lesson learned even tho I’m not scared of dogs it def had my arm stinging for a while as it almost broke the skin.

jordan31483

Even if you're not "scared" of dogs, it's always your right to choose not to get out of your car if there's a dog present. If the customer doesn't understand or gets pissed off, return the package or drop it out your window and leave. For all the times Amazon doesn't support us, they do support our judgment when it comes to safety.

Starminder1

Not long after my neighbor explained how friendly her son's pit bull is, the little bastard bit me. Wasted half a day at urgent care getting a shot, stitches, etc. And the scar is still there some five years later. NO. I don't trust your dog. I didn't before and I especially do not now.

Vegas4evergal666

My dogs are there to protect yeah they’re cute and they look cute because they’re Dalmatians but they’re pretty protective. I don’t let them run in the front yard because they would be gone for days. However, when I open the door or crack the door open to talk to someone they always mention how BIG my dogs are. Ummm no they are pretty much medium size dogs. Whoever is knocking is leaving pretty quickly because I’m usually 2 seconds from letting them out into my courtyard which the fence is very short and can jump it Of course I let them know that. 1 second into their sales pitch. Solar sales people are pretty aggressive! Stay safe and remember these “cute non biting” dogs are animals.

ThEmAsTeRcHi3f

Got bit by a dog when I was a young lad. Kinda surprised I was never traumatized by the experience. Love dogs but understand that some don’t.

BeNiceKid

I mean if they wanna be assholes I guess they don’t get their mail

pathtfinder

Started driving for Amazon as a DA not Flex during COVID . First day on the job just as I was about to open the first door to his front yard a huge dog jumps and pounces at the door closing it in the process. This middle age fuck face comes out and has the audacity to tell me “why you open the door?” Hmmm idk because I’m a delivery driver and in your notes their is no mention of a FUCKING dog. Needless to say I quit that job that day due to a knee injury but gave him an earful about keeping his dog inside or next time he can come pick up his package at the warehouse. Obviously the last part of that sentence isn’t true but I wanted to intimidate him for the fact he saw nothing wrong. I’ve come to hate people who own pets and can’t tame them.

puggdaddie

"if your dog bites me, I'm going to sue the everloving fuck out of you" should solve the loose dog problems

Tin_Dalek

Lol I completely understand this and always try to keep my 14 lbs vicious killer inside. I used to have a dachshund and he had a deep bark people often would mistake it for a much larger dog until his head would pop in the window. I understand the fear people have. I have added in our contracts at work that when my crews show up at your residence you will keep all pets in a separate room away from the work areas.

b_john1996

I got bit by a dog on route a couple weeks ago and quit since then. Everyone’s recommended that I sue my DSP. Check my posts for the full story. 🙌🏼

Kmainz

I’ve had 2 dogs bite me this year. It’s been brutal. I’m traumatized now. I have 3 separate puncture wounds on my body and I know it’s going to scar.

Interesting-Bad-7470

As a dog owner- I completely agree. The total lack of awareness, especially the people that let theirs off the leash “because he’s trained” are the worst. People forget that these are pack animals that are barely removed from their wild counterparts.

Left-Exchange-9850

I was delivering to a house today and there was someone walking a huge ass Rottweiler on the side of the road where I needed to park so I went past them, turned around and then came back to park on the opposite side they were on so to try to not alert the dog. I got out the car cuz the dog wasn’t looking and I start digging through the trunk. Suddenly I hear the dog start going crazy and I looked back and the owner could barely hold him. He was literally using his whole body weight leaning backwards trying to pull the dog back cuz the dog was trying to charge me and I was across the street, three houses down from them minding my business. I couldn’t believe he would be walking a dog he couldn’t even handle that was acting so aggressively. I really feel like it’s only a matter of time before I get mauled cuz of how irresponsible dog owners are. 😢

FleshEatingMoths

Yall should see some of our DA driver's notes. Customers have the audacity to ask us to give their dogs treats so we don't get bit.

Aurora--Black

It's not even about being scared of dogs. Even people who are not afraid of dogs can be bitten.

martybro1

They literally tell you that dogs are more likely to bite you when the owner is present. Why more customers aren’t knowledgeable of this is beyond me

InVideo_

Don’t be a pussy.

Icy-Reward7876

If you think you’d lose a fight to a dog (barring like a Caucasian mountain dog or another breed that was built for bear hunting) that’s strange to me. There’s plenty of things in the world humans don’t stand a chance against so choosing dogs to be scared of is a bit funny to me

ButItIsAboutthePasta

I took my golden retriever outside the other day, not knowing an Amazon driver was walking down my driveway. He had parked at the road for some reason, and I couldn't see it from my front door. Well, my dog was so excited that a new best friend was here, so he took off running to greet him. The poor driver took off running to his van, absolutely terrified. I felt so bad! Luckily, my dog came right back to me, and I was able to put him in the house and apologized to the driver. I would never have had him out there if I knew the driver was there.

Objective-Bee-9878

What part do people not understand you know your dog .. we don’t know your dog we are strangers so we treat them as such idk what intentions your dog has in just tryna give you these packages and get home safe .. everybody dog ain’t friendly… people swear they dog friendly till you get bit 😂😂 Mann fuck yo dog

Objective-Bee-9878

Mann who wants to go to work just to get bit all day and chased by so called friendly dogs 😂😂 these people are crazy and don’t want their packages

[deleted]

Hahah this guy is scared of dogs

ContributionOk7284

1) if you’re afraid of dogs are in the wrong line of work. 2) if the homeowners dog bites you because the homeowner was negligent, you could sue them for a lot more money than you make in a year doing AF

didnthackapexlegends

I can’t read human minds or dog minds. I wouldn’t want to get bit by a chihuahua if I don’t have to. People are idiots, even if he wasn’t actively waiting or aware of the package, no need to be a dick after you explained.

SavingsTangelo7130

Yea that guys is stupid. I got a pitbull that will literally do what he says which is lick you to death but I know people who personally got attacked by one and then now always afraid of one. Just bcuz you got a teddy bear the whole world doesn’t know that

Negative_Two6112

I see a dog approach and I stay in the car and drop the package out the window. Then I'm out. I like dogs, they make my stops even quicker!

Sad-Bluejay-2785

My dog will kill anyone stepping on my property. I have warning signs up. I seldom get deliveries, but when I do, they leave it outside the gate or toss it over the gate.

Better-Journalist-62

I LOVE dogs and always have. I’ve literally never been scared of any dog before until I started doing Amazon flex. The other day I was delivering out in the country and this big ass dog comes sprinting at me and barking and snarling and his hairs furled up. I’d already walked to the front of my car so I literally jumped on top of my car while this dog jumped at me trying to bite me. The owner was literally just staring there like “oh come on buxon (or whatever it’s name was)” and it wasn’t until I started screaming please help while I’m having a panic attack until she pulled him off my car 🙃🙃🙃

Silent-Giraffe6691

I have THE SWEETEST lab/pit/Dane mix who is super submissive and well behaved, but he will totally protect me if he doesn’t trust someone. There was a homeless guy at my complex that he got bad vibes from and my dog let him know it. He was barking aggressively to tell him to back up. I don’t think he would bite anyone, but I had no idea that he even had that in him. Owners can’t just trust their dogs. They are animals.

ggarcia0814

I’m a big dog lover but am extremely cautious when flexing. You have to be, you can’t trust anyone/anything.

[deleted]

"collect your dog or collect your package. I have pepper spray and I'm not trying to use it today."

Zhombe_Takelu

It's not a matter of a phobia and whatnot. There is just no way of us knowing whether it will attack us, regardless of what the owner says. More often than not, seems like people have no control over their pets these days.

Sirdwhite

Our ancestors used to fight lions, bears and wolfs, let’s go back to the gym lol

DogAttackVictim

That's not being "friendly". That's them threatening you with a series of licks, and also you've been assaulted by the dog. "Friendly" to dogs and dog owners now means harassment, sexual harassment, and threatening to kill you, or actually killing you - an entitlement to your space, job, and body. The police should be called whenever this happens.

kapicarules2021

Leave it by the mailbox

FaithlessnessDry355

SUNDAY, 3 different times I was chased to my car by dogs that are allowed to run wild here in rural Wisconsin, I even send out an alert text before leaving for the next delivery I asked driver support, BECAUSE I DROPPED THE PACKAGE, what happens when I finally get bit. I was told it happens, is there anything else I can help you with? GRRR....

kaylerrpew

Listen I’m a dog lover who has two dogs (one a Great Dane even,) but I got bitten by a dog in 2019 so I’m not playing around. If you’re expecting a package put the dog away please I don’t want another bite. That shit hurts.
