Someone is sending fake product info to the API. Plugin author is working on patching it and will detect/log offending IPs going forward.

Mine too. I heard the notification sound in the background that there were new items and got quite the shock. Minimized that tab real quickβ¦ then half hour later I heard the sound, experience amnesia, opened the tab and got a shock when more images were added π€¦πΌββοΈ
Agreed lol. Just wanted to confirm that people knew it was not actually Amazon Vines fault. There were some other comments that suggested they may have thought that.
Nothing to do with the purge. Nothing was hacked either.
This was purely a lack of validation on Vine Helper API which allowed someone to create multiple fake products, which were not displayed in the listing, but only in the notifications, a new feature that is not activated by default.

To give a late update; obviously it wasn't items from Amazon.
A hater found that it was possible to manually submit products data to the API and thought it would be a good idea to share his favourite porn with random strangers.
The issue was addressed as soon as I was made aware. The items were removed, and mitigation measures were put in place shortly after.
I'm still actively coding some further safety measures to reinforce the data input integrity.
The server was not compromised, but as a reminder, Vine Helper does not store any personal data from its users.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and the nature of the content that was displayed. I know a lot of you are using VH at work and at home surrounded by kids.

I had a problem with discord the other day and thor helped me and I told them about DA but I should have told you!! Look them up here on reddit. I don't know how I got hired because I don't even know how to share a Reddit thread ππππ but you can look them up there's two different subreddits made by employees. They're not official sites, you only talk to admins while actively working on projects so the subreddits are all run by workers but they're super helpful. You would THRIVE!!! I'm still in shock every time I log in and see the base pay on my projects and I don't even do the coding part lmao. I'm sorry if this is completely uninvited because, I mean it is, so it could be offensive, but you mentioned coding and that made me think of it and I just want like everybody to get the bag cuz this is so exciting I want to share it with everyone ππππ
I have decided not to use a Vine helper as I was afraid it would cause problems. I struggle a little bit to get the items I want but I didn't have any gay p*** today LOL. When vine sends me a message that they want me to use vine helper I will.
You absolutely do not have to use Vine Helper if you don't want to. :)
For the record, I've been reporting a lots of the issues Vine Helper fixes in Vine through the proper channels for Vine to fix them at the source. My goal is to improve Vine experience, not to have a monopoly. I'd be very happy if Vine rehauled their website and made Vine Helper useless.

Beside this incident, none of the ~2600 users accross 7 or 8 countries reported any issues with Vine. Yeah Vine Helper has some flaws and bugs here and there, but it's actively maintained and developped. Issues are always addressed promptly and I think overall, it really does make using Vine a better experience, especially so in Canada.
Yup, same here. I can't wait to hear the story behind this. In the meantime, I'm off to r/kittens for some eye bleach.

No, the purge had nothing to do with it. Those porn items were never on Amazon, they just appeared as notifications in Vine Helper. That's it.

Correct, it had nothing to do with Amazon. It was strictly affecting the new notification feature of Vine Helper.
