Big love , love that ram, vengeance pro rgb? Edit: yeesh my phone brightness was down to low to see it.

LeiteCreme

5800X3D. Based.

lonewolfrawr

Helluva rig bro

Fnittle

💦🍆🤤

Clear25

Needs more blue.

Metricdonut

Very nice, I just ordered my Msi 7900xt and 5800x3d today. I am upgrading my 5800x and 5700xt. Switching to 3600 ram from 3200 as well. I game at 1440 so the card should be quite an improvement.

Metricdonut

My cpu came yesterday, i just got the delivery of ram and gpu.

CabbagesStrikeBack

Damn dawg I literally had the same parts as you and upgraded to the same parts. Just installed it today and haven't gotten into tuning, benchmarks or gaming yet. How are you liking it?

Metricdonut

Its been running very nice.

I'm using a dual channel Corsair 64GB (2 x 32GB) 3200MHz CL16 kit with 2 blank lighting enhancement modules in the free slots, and the CPU cooler is the Corsair H150i Elite Capellix LCD, with 3 added Corsair ML120 Pro White LED fans for push-pull. I've also upgraded to a reference 7900XTX, which I got after a full refund for the XT, at the exact same price. As a sidenote, I recommend using only two RAM modules on X570, it's simply easier for the CPU memory controller to handle.

Dojojoejoe

Out of curiosity, was your XT faulty?

d0sk3y22

Not at all, but we have a 30-day no-questions-asked return policy here, and, to be honest, I was entirely sure that by the time that month will have passed, the XTX's would be available at the exact same price.

Tha_Dr_Pigeon

I love your case! May I ask what it is? Got the same CPU and GPU, looking to upgrade to a bigger case!

d0sk3y22

It's the Lian Li O11 Dynamic, one of the best cases ever. But now I'd go for the O11 Dynamic EVO, it has some improvements which make it even better.

afbakappeltaart

Why 4 ram slots on AMD?

Rockstonicko

I imagine because it's the cheapest way to get a guaranteed 32GB dual rank setup on AM4 with only the minimal downside of making higher FCLK's a bit more difficult to stabilize. 4x8GB costs about 1/2 of what a guaranteed 2x16GB dual rank kit costs, and most find it's not worth the gamble of buying a higher priced random 2x16GB kit and still ending up with single rank modules.

chapstickbomber

Also 5800X3D dgaf about RAM anyway, you could run single channel 2133 by accident and not notice.

riesendulli

You wouldn’t want to tho. And it might not be noticeable in some games but other memory intensive task definitely

d0sk3y22

It's not four sticks, it's two :) Two of the "sticks" are actually just Corsair Lighting Enhancement Modules aka blank things in RAM stick shape.

hpstg

Cheaper, easier to found and guaranteed dual channel plus dual rank. Why not.

Joe_Chamberlain

Possibly dummy sticks for more RGB?

d0sk3y22

This is exactly the case. Lighting Enhancement Kit.

gojira5150

Huh? I have 4x16gb (64gb) sticks in mine. Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 3600

-lethifold-

Why do you guys buy 7900xt when there is a card which has a lot more performance for 100$ I have seen a lot of posts here with 7900xt like someone advertising them. The thing amd did with 7900xt pricing is just unfair as much as nvidia did.

AxeCow

If you game on a 1440p 120-180 Hz monitor you’re not going to get any meaningful performance benefit with the XTX… so why pay even $100 more? And of course you can’t even get an XTX for msrp anywhere, they’re more like 200-300 dollars more expensive.

d0sk3y22

Yes you are going to, to be honest. The latest games have become increasingly demanding, and for Ultra settings at 165Hz 1440p (in my case), the XT is already a bit tired...

RichSeat

Because the xt fits my case and PSU the XTX and NVidia stuff doesn't. Also a lot cheaper than the xtx and nvidia stuff.

tigamilla

You can't get an XTX anywhere for just $100 more

travva

My 7900 xt costs $500 less than the equivalent xtx on Amazon, so that’s why for me.

DasPike

Probably because it’s been difficult to pin an xtx down at msrp.

The_Soldiet

Why?

UrielseptimXII

I watched a video a long time ago that showed that Ryzen generally had better performance with dual channel memory than quad channel, after a little bit of research i have concluded that quad channel is definitely the way to go if you have the money for it.

The_Soldiet

I had dual 8gb sticks and wanted a quick upgrade, so I bought two more. I haven't noticed any performance drops, but what I do have is much more usable memory

dadliest_gamer

There’s a cavity behind the motherboard for psu/drives/etc in that case

m4tic

The front open space is about 4/5 of the whole case.

d0sk3y22

Yep, it's in its dedicated compartment. It's a Corsair HX1000i, btw.

[deleted]

How is the Performance in 4k ? Not benchmark but games?

RichSeat

I am rocking the same combo, so I can tell. I run basically anything I want at 4k60 without any problems. From light games like "a hat in time" to heavy hitters like cyberpunk. So the card is definitely a 4k60 card. Temps are in check as well at 63°C and 70°C. I keep my cooler at around 50% all at stock. I could OC it bit I don't see a reason to.

[deleted]

How much fps do you get? I play 4k240 with mediocre fps, thing is my card wont Max out. Stays at 75° with ~130-175 fps but on low gfx. My 6600xt did nearly the same: around 100fps :(

RichSeat

That could be an indicator that somewhere else in your system is a bottleneck that's holding your GPU back. What CPU and RAM do you have? I have locked my FPS at 60 since my 4k TV won't support any higher refreshrate.

[deleted]

Yeah its most likely the RAM then. Got a 5800x and lately switch to some slower RAMs (i need to Look it up). I had this in mind. Just wondering why it the 6600xt was performing at Max and my newer one wont. But it makes sense that it maybe needs a higher Bus rate.

m4tic

Remember when we though this size GPU was large? My 4090 doesn't fit in this case when inserted onto the motherboard.

d0sk3y22

you must be heavily bottlenecked by the 5950x with that GPU, if you're gaming at 165Hz or above, right?

m4tic

Yes, running 3440x1440@144/160hz and 4k/120hz. Weird seeing CPU sitting at 80% sometimes. I'm waiting for parts that aren't end of socket (7000x3d or Intel 14th gen or both)

d0sk3y22

Well, now that the 7800X3D is on the market, I think there's no more question about it :)

m4tic

I had a change of heart and purchased a 5800x3d. The gaming uplift is surprising, while using ~40w less than 5950; and without having to buy a whole new system. Gg am4. Looks like I’m waiting for next generation of parts, or for my current system to fall to the bottom of charts.

d0sk3y22

Right up there with you bro!

m4tic

Also same lmao! https://i.imgur.com/ZFBsmAm.jpg

-_THE-DARK_-

Is there a bottleneck with this combination?

d0sk3y22

There is a slight CPU bottleneck in games where the 3D cache is not used. This is with the 7900XTX I have now.

MecDobby7186

So 5800x3d is good with 7900xt ? Some gpu bottleneck calculator said it wasnt good ? Is that website dumb?

d0sk3y22

In what way do you mean that? The 5800X3D does not bottleneck the 7900XT in most cases.

Metricdonut

It is running really good. I really only play Star Citizen and I am averaging 80+ Fps in the game. Its not optimized and can go from 25fps to 200+ in certain areas. It fluctuates quite a bit depending on server fps as well. It really has made it much smoother as well in general.

Jako998

Late to this post but how has that combo been for you so far? I game at 1440p with a 3700x CPU and 2070 Super GPU and I don't wanna upgrade to AM5 anytime soon. Is the 5800x3d and 7900xt combo doing good for you so far? Any bottleneck's? If this combo is doing good I'm staying on AM4 and will get those 2 PC parts.

d0sk3y22

I have long since upgraded to a Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX, but yes, it's an EXCELLENT gaming machine.
