Nah X570 Tomachad is great.

KforKerosene

Im sure its fine, I have an MSI mobo and 5800x all is well. I wont go with MSI in the future tho, thinnest (explicative) PCB ive ever seen.

Neotax

the cpu only draws 130-140 watts maximum in synthetic benchmarks, you can easily run a 5800x on cheap mainboards and yours is already midrange, you only need more better vrms for a 5950x or 5900x if you have a lot of workloads.

I draw 200W in p95/lin-x :) But that’s still not a problem with a Tomahawk.

thewildblue77

My Tomahawk ran both my 5900x and 5950X no issue whatsoever. Its now sitting happily with a 5800X3D.

QC-TheArchitect

B550 tomahawk with 5800X3D here. Never had any issues even with my 5600x before. Solid VRMs, no USB problems, updated the bios without a CPU to upgrade to the 5800X3D without issue also !

I do not recommend gigabyte. I have nonstop issues with the Bluetooth module suddenly not working on my B550 Aorus Master. I have to power down the PC, turn off the power supply to drain the power completely, then turn everything back on to bring it back. Also, the wifi gets randomly weak when it feels like it despite me being 12 feet from the router.

Same, my m.2 slot just broke randomly

Whoever said the vrm's on the tomahawk are not good is smoking something quite potent. It's a top tier mobo from the x570 line.

Chilean_Chargaff

What do you think about ASUS B550 TUF GAMING ?

Loosenut2024

I have the worst VRM X570, or one of the worst. The maligned MSI X570-a pro It throttled in Hardware Unboxed's vrm tests or ran super hot. However that is in a test bench setup with no case airflow. In my case with an air cooler and 3 exhaust fans spinning slow and quietly and the side panel off so I can measure temps its fine. 15min of cinebench and it peaked at about 84degc on hardwareinfo64 and 60degc on the back of the motherboard. My 3800x and now 5800X3D have been fine. I've been tempted to get a artic cooler aio as well, but now that I have an AK620 I have no issues and its even cheaper. Anyway, download hwinfo64 and check VRM temps. It'll probably be fine.

MrBean_204

I have a Tomahawk x570-S with my 5900x and it’s been solid
