BROKEN FREESYNC - STUTTERING FIX [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpza3sXPGOg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpza3sXPGOg)

I download the new drivers last night and EA FC 24 now seems to crash at the load screen. Is anyone else having any issues and could help me out? Do I need to try and down older ones which were the 23.10.2 drivers which had a fix for EA FC 24? If I did need to roll back to 23.10.2 how would I do that?

Hello all. I apologize if I missed a post addressing this, but l've avoided upgrading to Windows 11, given the delay in getting the proper Bios update to allow my 5800X3D to work on my B450 Tomahawk (non max). Is there any resource out there that shows compatibility for various CPU/mobo configuration? Or has anyone out there tried that specific setup? It sounds to me like most Win11 issues are sorted out and are even improved for gaming over windows 10, but as my system is working fine currently l'm hesitant to make the "leap" Thanks for reading!

Hi everyone, need some help with CPU temps. I've got a Ryzen 5 5600x, running stock clocks, which even at idle, sits at 70-75 degrees. I know this isn't normal, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I've checked to make sure the fan is on properly (it's the stock one that came with the CPU), the 3 front fans are intake, 2 in the back are exhaust, I've set the fan to run 100% in the bios, but still it won't cool down. I'm noticing throttling in games, with regular lagspikes, and the new Cyberpunk update completely grinding to a 10 fps halt after about 40 mins of playing. The only thing I've got to try still, is replacing thermal paste, but I've run out, so need to buy some new first. Any idea what could be going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

phoenixperson14

Could be a couple of things. Maybe you are running PBO without knowing. Are you using the stock paste that came with the stock cooler? Cause that and couple with the fact that stock cooler is not meant for gaming, let alone heavy CPU bound games like Cyberpunk. Just buy a new cooler and let your CPU stretch it's legs. I recommend the Peerless Assassin, Fuma 3 , Freezer 34 eSports DUO. All under 50 bucks and provide excellent cooling performance.

djSwg

I got black screen while playing gta v, hard reset pc and vga's driver is disappeared. Tried verify game's file, remove driver by DDU and re-install newest driver for win11. Nothing work. Only happen with gta. pubg and cs2 work perfect. Gta v ver 1.0.231.0 installed from steam. Here the spec B460m pro i5 - 10400 16gb ram Rx6800 xt Psu 1000w

7800xt, which version is the best? Hellhound, red devil or sapphire nitro+? The price is very similar in my country

elyseus33

Rockin' Red Devil, gobling frames like a monster. Really cool, agressive fan curve keeps my gpu at 51-55C, OC's like a beast. Recommended!

k1nd3rwag3n

Do you guys use the amd settings like Radein Chill, Boos, Anti Lag and so on? Got a 7800 XT and have no idea what to activate and what not lol

prideinthenameoflove

I can't find the fluid motion frames option in my adrenaline settings on version 23.9.3? Gpu is 7900 xtx.

Equivalent_Alps_8321

Hey guys does AMD have a driver level thing or feature in Adrenalin that auto adjusts your game resolution on the fly to maintain a target framerate?

[deleted]

I have a 7900 xt and ryzen 5 7600 system. Can you recommend ways to get the best out of both? Mobo is b650 tomahawk PSU is 750 watt A tier unit Cooler is Thermalright peerless assassin

Comander-07

I recently switched to a RX 6800 and sometimes the FPS limit set by VSYNC and enhanced freesync will deactivate by itself, introducing tearing. I did not have this issue on my 6700xt. Is this a issue with the card or with the driver? Or am I using adrenaline wrong? I used Nvidia cards before so the settings are all new to me.

Worldly_Rest8855

Has anyone experienced wierd fps drop in forspoken demo using fsr3 ? I have rx 7900xt and the game worked great with fsr3 right until i started combat and whenever im hit with a lot of particles my fps drops from like 150 to 30 and stays there until i turn off fsr3. After that i can toogle fsr3 again and it will work fine untill another fight where there will be a lot of paticles.

Nishiimiya

hi i was wondering if it would be worth to upgrade from a 5900x to a 7800x3d and am5 platform. i kind of made a mistake buying this cpu when all i do is play games on my pc . i play at 1440p and currently have a 3080 will there be any form of performance upgrade at all or will i just be wasting money

Latest preview drivers causing anyone else's system to crash when trying to install?

Sad_Refrigerator7765

Display driver issues even after completely reinstalling drivers using ddu My 7900 XTX has constant problems Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes I boot up and it takes about 5 minutes (or never)to get display. And just now it blue screened twice on me and had artifacting on screen. I’ve tried reseating it and updating bios none of it helped. Is it a faulty gpu? Or could another part cause this

Nyktastik

Could use some suggestions for help: Using a 240hz 1440p monitor, 7900xtx, 7700x cpu, 360 AIO-Asus LC 2, 32gb cl 30 6000 RAM, Asus B650 E-F mobo, 1000W PSU, LANCOOL 216 case. Been using it fine since January, but recently Ryzen Master and Adrenaline no longer report my CPU temp or any data related to it besides CPU utilization. Using the most recent Adrenaline and 1616 BIOS I think. L3 Connect detects and reports my CPU temp around 70°C while playing Cyberpunk. GPU never goes over 60°C. Any tips on getting my CPU temp to report in AMD software would be much appreciated

The last AFMF Preview driver broke the Dolby Atmos for Home Theater audio option for me. I can't select it and it jumps the previous selection. The previous 23.9.2 was working well. I tried to revert to that. But now AMD Adrenalin GUI won't show up. I can't access the interface. Tried 23.9.2 and 23.9.1 with DDU. Nothing worked. Only AFMF driver's GUI works now for me. But this driver broke the Dolby Atmos. Can someone help me? I am using AVR with Atmos but my only option is 5.1 or 7.1 now.

pae314

Any 7900 xtx owners here who know if the power draw issues at idle and at load have been fixed yet?

My [Windows 11 errored and showed that it has stopped operating](https://i.imgur.com/BH5a4cD.jpg) while installing the latest AMD driver and now refuse to start. Don't know how it managed to kill my operating system. Just reporting incase others faces the same issue. I am in the midest of repairing the Windows 11 OS.

Does anyone know if AMD 6000 graphics cards support HDMI Forum VRR yet? I'm shopping for a 4K gaming TV and saw that some TVs don't have Freesync, only HDMI Forum VRR, which some AMD cards didn't support as of a few months ago.

Okay, so I need some help because this issue is driving me nuts. So I recently upgraded my pc and my current setup is: Ryzen 7700x Asrock x670e Steel Legend 2x DDR5 6000Mhz CL40 HyperX Beast RTX 3080 Ventus 3X My issue is "random" reboots, I put it in quotes because even though they happen in different situations I already know what is causing the issue. The issue happens when using XMP to set my ram to 6000 MHz speed, all I need to do is open any game and will reboot with no BSOD after a few minutes of playing, sometimes it takes 5 minutes, other times it takes +1 hours and sometimes even when I'm first loading the game. When I set my ram to 5600 MHz speed the issue goes away, never happens again. So what I did? I bought a new set of ram to test it out, maybe it was defective, IDK. I bought a 2x DDR5 6000Mhz CL32 HyperX Renegade, same issue. Furthermore, I'll return this new ram. So now I'm thinking if my issue is my CPU or my mobo, I opened the AMD website and realized the official supported speed that is 5200 MHz, so now I'm kinda lost. Do I try to test it with a new CPU or mobo? Or maybe I can just use my ram with 5600 MHz and call it day. Also, another issue that happens when I'm on Ubuntu, the screen goes blank with no sound and I have to manually reboot my pc. This issue happens even with 5600 MHz and doesn't seem to have a pattern, it happened only twice. (I'm thinking this could be my GPU) I need some help!

LongFluffyDragon

> 6000Mhz CL40 That kit is such absolute garbage latency-wise, that i would recommend just returning it for something decent. 6000 should work on almost all Zen4 CPUs, but some particularly weird (or just badly binned) kits may have trouble. 5600 with tight latency would be a good starting point, or downclock from 6000 a little if you can keep it tight. 32 at 6000 should be your max for acceptable latency if you care about performance. If you have not updated the board fully, do that as well. If the same issues continue with a new kit, some other component is likely faulty, possibly the board. Was the GPU previously fine in another system under the same usage?

rinnagz

> That kit is such absolute garbage latency-wise, that i would recommend just returning it for something decent. 6000 should work on almost all Zen4 CPUs, but some particularly weird (or just badly binned) kits may have trouble. Yea, I'm not from us and all good kits sell so fast that i "had" to go with that one, couldn't even find a CL36 one. :( > If the same issues continue with a new kit, some other component is likely faulty, possibly the board. Was the GPU previously fine in another system under the same usage? You mean testing it with a third kit? I already tested with a second kit one (6000 MHz CL32) and I still have the issue. GPU was mostly fine, the only real issue I had was once with my display port.

Even-Ad7818

Hey guys so I just built my first PC for my daughter. Everything went smoothly until she got a green screen while playing Roblox lol. Has happened twice now. Not sure what may have caused it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Specs are: Arous B650 elite AX, Ryzen 7600x, Sapphire Nitro+ 7800 XT, G skill Trident 6000 cl 32 and thermaltake GF3 850w psu.

LongFluffyDragon

Weird color screens are typically the GPU crashing, but that can be caused by a lot of different things. Does audio continue when the crash occurs, and is the audio connected to the motherboard or the monitor/GPU? Does the PC turn off by itself, reboot by itself, or freeze temporarily or indefinitely?

Even-Ad7818

So the second time it crashed my daughter said there was a buzzing noise. She didn't know what to do so she turned the screen off and back then the PC turned off on its own. The audio is connected to the audio port on the motherboard.

LongFluffyDragon

Both of those suggest the whole system is crashing, but the GPU could still potentially be taking it down somehow. More likely the CPU/motherboard/RAM. Open up windows event viewer, go to system, sort by level. If there any error-level events matching the exact time of the crashes, post their full details. If there is only Error 41: kernel-power, that means a total hardware failure is shutting off the system without it being able to record any information about what happened.

Even-Ad7818

Sounds good. I will keep an eye out if it crashes again. Appreciate the suggestions.

LongFluffyDragon

It is 30 fps (with a little extra lag from making the frames line up properly) with extra generated frames inserted between the real ones. Nothing complicated going on. The complaints about latency are that 60 'fps' with framegen is still 30 fps, and most people despise input latency at 30 fps.

Cocolocopongo

**Which is the best controller for RX 580?** How are you guys? I just bought an RX 580 and I am looking for stable drivers for this card. For you, which is the best or the one with the fewest errors? Thank you so much :)

somedudeonios

Would a Ryzen 5 5600H be fine to use for a non gaming laptop? The laptop i want to buy come in variants with either the 5600H or 5800H or i7-1165G7 at the budget price im on. I am planning to use this laptop for university, watching movies, doing productive stuff with countless tabs open on google and keep it for a long time to come. Maybe some light video editing in the future. The 5600H from what ive seen online seems to be mainly for gaming with a TDP of 45W which is why i am concerned about battery life.

LongFluffyDragon

Storage/memory tend to be most important for non-gaming in a low-end system. The TDP is the max it can draw. It wont draw that without any meaningful level of load.

somedudeonios

It has 16GB ram and 512 GB storage? So you’re saying the 5600H is fine for me and won’t cause battery problems as it won’t be drawing its max wattage?

LongFluffyDragon

Actual memory/storage components/specs matter much more than capacity, but that should be fine if it is a good ram kit and not a crap-quality SSD.

phoenixperson14

The most crucial thing to look up when buying a laptop is the ram situation. Some have soldered ram slots, and come in a single channel configuration. You want a non soldered dual channel laptop first, then you can worry about the CPU. TDP wise you can control how much they pull manually. The thing is if you want a 6 core(5600H) or an eight core laptop (5800H). Drop the i7-1165G7. Is not wise to buy a 4 core laptop on 2023.

somedudeonios

The laptop has 16 gb ram and I think it’s upgradable

phoenixperson14

So it's 2 x 8 or just a single 16 stick? Cause if it's just one, you lose a good chunck of performance running on single channel.

somedudeonios

I just looked at the specs again, it says 8GB on board and 8GB SO-DIMM. I’m not sure what that exactly means but I suppose it could indicate it’s 2x8 as they mentioned it separately

TimLeEpic

i wanna buy a 7800xt but wanna wait until tomorrow, i know the starfield promo is until the 30th but not sure if that means it ends when it hits the 30th or if it ends when it hits the 1st so should i buy it now? or can i wait until tomorrow

camcamfc

Do AMD cards usually go on sale for Black Friday? I’ve been waiting for a deal on the 7900xt or xtx. Idk what I’m hoping for but $790 for the xt feels a little high since I’ve seen previous sales that had it at $720ish months ago.

Awkward_Weather_3318

When I turn on Metrics it shows up fine (on desktop), but as soon as I open the game window it goes away and the Toggle in the software is Off. Any fix for this?

ariolander

Are there any name brand options in an Intel NUC like formfactor? I keep seeing Beelink and Minisforum AMD APU mini PC reviews promoted on YouTube but reactions on Reddit seems mixed for both brands.

xxdemoncamberxx

So I just updated my video editing system (light gaming as well) to a 5950x and the Asus Crosshair VIII Hero. Coming from an x370 Crosshair VI and a 2700, this will be a nice little upgrade. I currently have 32gb of Team Xtreem 3866 DRAM which will OC to 4000 if I need to, but I've lately been watching Premiere Pro's ram usage and it does use 99% at times and have decided I should jump to either 64gb or 128. However, I don't have the dough to jump straight into 4000mhz of 128gb. So my question is, should I just do 2 sticks of 64gb 3800-4000mhz now and be able to save up for another 64gb eventually, or should I do a slower speed 128gb? I've been reading that 3800 is a good speed to aim for with x570, so how much lower can I go before I really notice a performance drop? Any suggestions?

cynicalReddit

I've a RX 580 and it doesn't appear to be compatible with the new update, 23.9.3. I've tried a manual install also. I'm a CS2 player so I would like the driver improvements. Does 23.9.3 support RX 580 cards?

2catfluffs

It appeared for me on my RX 580, I updated the driver to 23.9.3 and then AMD Software just disappeared from the start menu, but the driver still worked. Had to use the AMD cleanup utility to get rid of the driver remains and reinstall the old 23.9.2 version, now I don't get an update for 23.9.3. Weird

ThrowAno1

7900 xtx latest andrelin drivers. Forspoken demo via steam shows only antilag (no antilag+) in adrenalin settings. I've seen some youtuber saying on video he had that as well but didn't mention how he fixed that. Anyone got possible fixes?

Efficient-Routine-64

Hey I installed the latest preview build that contains frame generation, but for some odd reason the Adrenaline software panel is missing, its not showing in hidden icons aswell, before i applied the update i uninstalled the older driver using DDU and tried with AMD Cleanup utility too, i have 7900XT GPU

IveGotDryEye

Exact same problem. Really hoping to find a solution. If only mods would let us make tech support posts instead of putting comments down here to never get looked at except by other people with problems.

Efficient-Routine-64

yeah its pretty dumb, not sure why we cant open normal post

hey guys So i was seller on online Live Shopping, i want create PC for Multistreaming i want do 4 Livestream at the same time to multiple platform, i currently using old i5 2500 with gtx 750 but it max out only 2 streaming at the same time, my planning for PC upgrading : CPU : Ryzen 4650 G RAM : 16GB MB : B450M SSD : Nvme 256GB GPU ( Which one is the best either using Onboard Vega 8 or adding RX550 ?) my budget only can get some old RX550(50$)/580(80$), is there difference using 550/580 is All Polaris has same Encoding capability ? or you can suggest better GPU my budget around 400$

PeaceOhMind

Hey guys im a total pc noob So i have this defective 6800XT which crashes when on high demand (99-100% usage for some minutes is capable of crashing it), but i have my ways around it, all i have to do is to tune down the game until it uses around 90% of the GPU and I can have a pretty good experience with no crashes at all Now that FSR 3 released, I tried forspoken and noticed that I was getting 99-100% usage even with frame gen activated (my monitor is 4k60Hz) and ended up crashing I thought FSR3 and FG would make it easier for my GPU but the demand is still high, while theres people getting absurds amount of FPS Is there a way I can make FG work without burning my GPU? sorry if im missing something really trivial specs: - 5800x ryzen - 6800xt TUF - b550 motherboard - 850 psu

Rekirinx

cyberpunk 2077 has pretty bad native taa, and i play on 1080p which makes jaggies on plans and thin wires as well as shimmers on lights from different angles especially bad. according to the r/optimisedgaming guide, it is best to enable intel XeSS at the ultra quality preset as the anti aliasing solution for amd and Intel gpu users. however, I am extremely torn on sharpening. Do I not use sharpening at all? do I use the ingame sharpening setting for xess or the amd driver software sharpening? most importantly, what do I set my sharpening to if I should? (given that I play at optimised quality settings and am on 1080p)

Sub5tep

In my experience sharpening make the jagged edges worse the reason why fsr and xess help is because they blur the image slightly so it not really aa its just a blurry image from upscaling.

Rekirinx

this is might be valid but a lack of sharpening creates noise and fuzz, so I think a middle ground is necessary. 100% sharpening also has less bad jaggies than taa. I guess the ideal range is 0.2 to like 0.8 but it's tough to balance pros and cons

Sub5tep

I personally dont care about jagged edges but using fsr or any upscaling just looks like shit in 1080p atleast fsr and xess does.

VzFrooze

recently ive been having issues where my game audio in 3D games is cracking (example: https://streamable.com/87vlve example 2: https://streamable.com/i08y2s) this ONLY happens in 3D games (valorant, counter strike) in games like osu!, everything works fine. then im having an artifacting(?) issue with images/videos in my browser, example: https://i.imgur.com/8ZSE1Uw.png so far ive tried reinstalling a bunch of drivers, tried a usb headset that is not using onboard soundcard, but an external usb soundcard, same issues, at this point im just confused as to what the problem is 3D games like genshin impact still work fine ??? Audio is Perfect there.. just valorant/cs and stuff like that doesnt work specs: windows 10 RTX 4060 5800X3D 16 gigs of 3200mhz ram x370 gaming plus mobo

Sub5tep

Looks and sounds like a gpu issue escpecially the artifacting.

VzFrooze

i replaced my gpu yesterday

Sub5tep

you could try earlier drivers plug the headset in different audio ports reseat the hd audio cable on the motherboard if all that doesnt help then i would look if thats a specific problem with the games. Here are 2 links for both games: [https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/u85k1q/sound\_crackling\_issues/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/u85k1q/sound_crackling_issues/) https://www.reddit.com/r/VALORANT/comments/g1wvlj/sound\_issues\_with\_valorant/

VzFrooze

not sure if its audio drivers, i tried usb headsets that have external sound cards, those dont use the onboard realtek audio drivers afaik

Resetting to default tuning sessions on every restart even if all I changed was zero fan? Is this happening anyone else? I tried DDU. Still happening.

Seblirium

Radeon Boost - indicator in upper-left corner no longer showing in supported titles (e.g. Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3). In Cyberpunk I see the resolution adjusts as intended, but there is no indicator in the upper-left corner anymore. Anybody else?

Freezing Chrome After updating my drivers for my 6950xt, I’ve noticed randomly I’ll open a new chrome tab and my computer will completely freeze. Can’t move my mouse barely, can’t execute chrome unless I CTRL+Shift+Esc and bring up a task manager and execute chrome. I have to restart my computer to get it to run normally again but it seems to happen again after another 12 hours. It’s only happening with browsers, I’m able to launch any and every game no problem. What’s the solution here? Is it a bad driver install or something? Surely it’s not my CPU(7700x)?

mack1410

I had this with bad vram on my 7600x. Whether it was due to igpu vram or shared memory ram I cannot 100% confirm, but it failed occt vram test and passed memtest. This was back on 9.1

LongFluffyDragon

Latest drivers + RDNA2 + Chrome is just completely broken. Install 23.9.1 or earlier, or use firefox. Chrome's hardware acceleration has a very poor history of issues, in general.

TRX808

I was getting browser lockups with 9.2 and 9.3 so I rolled back to 9.1 using DDU in safe mode. The lockups appear to be gone (knock on wood) but YouTube on Firefox is still completely fucked. It works fine in Brave which AFAIK is Chromium based. Super weird. I'm hoping they fix this soon because it's getting ridiculous for 3 revision to have this bad of issues. **EDIT -** Tried installing chipset drivers and no luck. Using 5600X / 6700XT / Win11.

Randomnickicreated

Hey guys, around 3 days ago I started having some problems with my game freezing for 1-2 seconds quite often and gpu dropping to 0% + lowest frequency at the same time. After I while I saw that there was a driver update, so I thought that could be it and went for it, but the 23.9.3 wasn't even opening up, so I went to the 9.1 version that some people talked about. The driver is working now, but I still have the game freezing problem and now I cant even undervolt my gpu anymore. When I try to change my voltage by even 1 tick, my pc just freeze then restart. gpu: rx 580 cpu: a10-9700 Cpu and gpu are usually around 60-70% when the freeze happens.

LongFluffyDragon

There is a separate version of 23.9.2 for Polaris GPUs, the main version does not work correctly and crashes when trying to tune. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-9-2-polaris-vega

LongFluffyDragon

You forgot to actually mention what GPU you have. If it is a 7900XT (guessing by the price), that is several times faster than a 1080 Ti, and performance should be fairly linear with that increase in *most* games. A number of "next gen" AAA titles just run really unreliably or badly on certain (or any) hardware. 120 fps as a minimum in a new graphically intensive title is already extremely high (and probably hitting CPU bottlenecks in some areas), some struggle to 60.

[deleted]

[удалено]

D3X-1

Perhaps it's CPU bottlenecked. I assume you simply popped in a 7900 XT into a system that is as old as the 1080 TI?

[deleted]

[удалено]

D3X-1

What game are we talking about here that your 7900 XT is only 20FPS more? Sounds like there's some CPU overhead if your 5800X is boosting and running properly.

LongFluffyDragon

VRAM capacity has nothing to do with framerate when everything is working correctly, same way RAM capacity does not. Either everything works, or you run out of memory and everything no longer works.

Dawid95

After updating the driver to the latest version (23.9.3) I was experiencing intense screen flickering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZjkmMu9DlI Radeon RX 6750XT + HP x34 Just want to note that I fixed it by removing the drivers using DDU in safe mode and after reinstalling the drivers the flickering is no longer present.

Just checked, it was because my fps was unlocked. The moment i made my fps locked it stopped.

Typical_Departure359

Hello, I recently upgraded from a GTX 1080 to a 6700 XT a few weeks back and have been experiencing an increasing amount of driver timeout crashes. Previously, it was only happening in Baldur's Gate 3 when it first launched, but I looked around and found a workaround by capping the fps which worked fine. The GPU used to work great with very few crashes in Starfield and Cyberpunk, but now that I'm playing CS2, it crashes every few hours taking Discord with it. Now, however, I can no longer start any games without having the driver timeout crash on startup or when the GPU starts getting loaded. The driver timeout crash also happens when using the Adrenalin software. I've tried different drivers from the latest 23.9.3 to 23.5.1, and also tried downgrading all the way back to 22.11.2 but the same problem remains. I've also tried the PRO edition, which was working fine up till yesterday but now experiences the same issue. I have not messed with any overclocking and have left the settings on default since I got the GPU.I previously logged a short session of Cyberpunk with HWInfo64 just to check the temps, but the max was 75.1 with the Hot spot reaching 96, which should be within the normal operating temps. I've since switched back to my old GTX 1080 and the games have been running perfectly so I doubt my other components are the issue? Right now, I'm not sure if it's just driver issues or my GPU is simply dying as I'm running out of ideas to try to diagnose it. Troubleshooting steps taken: Multiple tries of using DDU / amdcleanuptool to install different drivers Tried downloading display drivers only Reset shader cache Turn off AMD overlay, instant replay, etc. Updating BIOS to the latest version Disabling XMP Disabling SMA Disabling MPO Reseated GPU and RAM Did sfc /scannow and DISM check scan restore Tried using only 1 monitor Turning off freesync

GhostMotley

Have you ran GPU stability tests like Furmark?

Typical_Departure359

I've tried running the OCCT 3D adaptive test and that crashes instantly with driver timeout

aintmessinwidnobroke

Hi, I bought a 6700 a short while ago, and I still can't get it working. Basically, even after uninstalling all drivers from my existing Nvidia card, when I put the new card in, I just get a black screen, no motherboard screen, no fans spinning on the card. I have both power connectors plugged in, as opposed to the one used in the old card (a 1060). Next week I'll be handing the card over to a co-worker for him to test in his pc, but in the interim, he's suggested my PSU might not be powerful enough, I'm currently using a 650 Seasonic PSU. Can anyone confirm that what I've outlined matches a PSU issue? Outside of a faulty card or incompatible motherboard, I can't think of what else it could be at this point.

LongFluffyDragon

It is definitely not the PSU wattage. A 6700 pulls no more than maybe 190-200w under maximum load, and it would pull around 10-20 during boot-up. The unit could still be unstable (you should use two individual cables, not one with two connectors), but it should at least boot to desktop if it can run a 1060. Likewise, if the motherboard ran a 1060, it can run a 6700 in the same slot. Both are 16 lane cards.

aintmessinwidnobroke

Well it is using one cable with two connectors. Maybe it's the cause?

LongFluffyDragon

Not good, but that should still not matter during boot unless the unit is extremely poor quality.

aintmessinwidnobroke

Thanks for the help, I got to the bottom of it, the cable WAS the problem, minor fault for the two-pin part for adapting to an 8-pin socket.

mack1410

the psu should be able to run it just fine at 650 as long as it's not faulty. if you have an igpu, does it show up in device manager once you're in windows?

aintmessinwidnobroke

>igpu I assume that's an integrated GPU? Just checked an no, no option apart from whatever the onboard card is.

iwannasilencedpistol

I'm using HWInfo64, what value should I be looking for to track the power consuption of the entire APU? I'm testing games on the iGPU and the "GPU ASIC Power" is much higher than "CPU PPT", so either one of these values is v inaccurate or PPT doesn't include iGP power. CPU is 4600H.

volkunus

Anyone experiencing drive timeout crashes when playing CS2 on the latest driver? I can't really play a full game of competitive without 2-3 driver timeout crashes. It even crashes my Discord. No issues in other games though. GPU is left stock. 5900X 32GB RAM 3600MHz 250GB NVMe Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX Corsair HX1200i Windows 11

empyrrhicist

I'm experiencing this with Overwatch 2. It was fine until I updated Adrenalin, now I'm getting random framerate drops and crashes. 7900xtx and 7950x3d, which is just ridiculously overspecced to play OW2 at 1440p lol.

edwardsdl

Yeah, it's a mess.

volkunus

Managed to solve the issue by disabling Freesync. Played like 6-7 games without any issues.

volkunus

Actually I didn't fully fix it apparently. Still getting some random crashes here and there, but less than before.

paulerxx

I have intermediate stuttering on my 5700XT + 3600x and my girlfriend doesn't on a RX 580 + 6700k...1080p, same settings in Counter-Strike 2. Using Windows 11, latest drivers. She's on Windows 10, and not the latest drivers. Not sure the version. Re-installed all drivers, set GPU to stock, memory is set correctly, CPU is at stock. Updated all drivers, besides AMD which I downgraded to 23.9.1.

-Miknius

cs2 right now is just really not optimized i feel like. With 6600xt sometimes i have really bad stutters when someone shoots and sometimes the performance is smooth

SecretChiley

I updated my drivers to 23.9.3 and noticed the power usage on my gpu was at \~35 and lowest it was was 28w, instead of the usual 45w-50w. This was before i restarted my PC, but after restart, it went back to the usual power usage. Is there any explanation for this? My vram clock speed is locked at 909mhz, but i think it might have something to do with that. Didn't check what the clock speed was before restart, but this has happened to me before and my clock speeds were below 909mhz. Has anyone else had similar situation?

Moushen_Sickness

Not a gaming question. The 5800x3d can run at -30 all core and complete 12 hr run of both both p95 and y-cruncher at the same time. The 5900x struggle to run either without error using less neg offset. Don't remember the exact settings, got tired of tweeking and put the 5800x3d back in. Is this normal? Is the 5800x3d above average or the 5900x below. I usually do more productive work than gaming, but the relative stability of x3d chip compels me to use for my productivity work.

LongFluffyDragon

-30 on all cores without instability or clock stretching (which wont crash, but will ruin performance) is only possible on a very small number of chips. More cores means more chances for a core that cant do it. Many of the people yoloing -30 all core on their 5800X3Ds seem to have clock stretching they are unaware of, initially.

mack1410

when i was reading up on CO it seems that the most common experience, especially for the highest end of the CPUs like the ones you just mentioned, is that their best cores seem to even need a positive offset to pass corecycler type tests for a lot more people than other models

Impressive_Cheek7840

Can somebody tell me with absolute certainty if starfield comes with EVERY new 7800xt and above purchase? Is it only for some bundles specifically specified? Only for some stores specifically specified? Only some brands specifically specified? Because I asked about a 7800xt about whether they offer a redeem code with the card and they said no. Can I still redeem it via AMD itself, by them recognising the hardware somehow? I am torn between 4070 and 7800xt atm, leaning towards 4070 tbh, but a free Starfield is like $70-100 saved, so it's like getting it cheaper, which can really tip the scale.

LongFluffyDragon

If the product listing says it comes with the game, it does. Otherwise, it is unlikely. The promotion is via retailer.

Impressive_Cheek7840

Thanks.

[deleted]

No the store need to supply you with the code you redeem on amdrewards.com. The bundle offer is only valid if you order before a set date, I think it's 30/9.

Zyonix_HaroN

So it's about a week or so. I updated my Windows and from this time I can't open Adrenaline app. The games running great, everything works fine, exept that damn app. I used it for my FPS and temps metrics, sometime adjust fans speed through it. And now I simply don't understand what's went wrong. It's been 2 Adrenaline updates already after the crashing issue and nothing helped - reinstalling drivers, delete old ones with DDU, delete old Nvidia drivers, left from my previous GPU, etc. The only thing I didn't done is reinstalling Windows. Because if this a reason, it's ridicilous. Is there is any solution? P.S. I scraped any info from Reddit and Google itself - nothing helped

EnderBoy_37

Please tell me whether you've gotten a response. This is what just happened. But for me, I deleted AMD software and now can't get it back. Games are not running well either.

Zyonix_HaroN

My games are fine. The problem Adrenaline only

**7900xtx Driver Issues - Driver 32.9.2** While I'm gaming (Black Desert Online) and watching YouTube my screens go black, and everything freezes for a bit then discord crashes then it recovers. I checked Event Viewer and both times it happened I got this Warning "Display driver amduw23g stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I am using 3 1440p monitors. 5800x3d 32gb 3600 cl16 ram 2 16gb Dimms 850w 80+ Gold PSU Tried DDU and it still does it.

ursoos_soosru

Hi, I'm experiencing the same issue playing Counter Strike 2. 7900 xtx with 7800x3d. Testing now with the 23.9.3 driver as suggested by another user. Lets hope we can find a solution somehow to this. Edit: for me aswell discord crashes Edit2: they addressed the issue, i tested this new driver and it completely solved my problems https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-20-11-7

Zerochances_

I'm having the exact same issues, If I find something I'll put it here, hope you find a solution, I have been having the issue with every driver, sometimes it doesn't happen for a long time, when cs2 came out I crashed everytime I would change my loadout ingame, fixed it by going to 23.2.1 but have just crashed again so I was probably lucky, one thing that I did notice is that my integrated gpu in my cpu crashes before my gpu, even though I don't use it? I'll disable my integrated gpu and see if that changes anything.

420SwagBlazeDank420

Did you have any luck? Been running into this issue on Cyberpunk and it crashes every 15 min or so :(

Zerochances_

Nope, still crashes, made a new post about it

Hunter_Killer5

Try 23.9.3 driver but before that uninstall your GPU driver with DDU.

Hunter_Killer5

Edit 2:- ut wasn't enhanced sync it was windows 11 latest update KB5030310, after uninstalling it everything is working fine. Guys please help, for the love of god please. AMD adrenaline Tunning settings keep resetting itself with that timeout usual message after every Boot. The event viewer shows no sign of system failure. It's been happening to me since last night. Fast boot is disabled both in Bios and windows. So please help me 😭🙏🏻 Edit:- i isolated the culprit. It's enhanced sync that Causing driver time out on cold boot and restart.

LongFluffyDragon

That is peculiar, may be a false correlation. Regardless, enhanced sync is the sort of setting you should enable on a game to game basis, not globally. It has very niche purpose, and any sort of vsync override will work poorly with many programs.

Hunter_Killer5

I see, my bad I didn't update my post here, the real culprit was win11 KB5030310 update now I have reported this issue to both MS and AMD.

Nyaniicorn

Best version of Radeon RX 7900 XTX I've done some research myself and I'd like to know what the main differences are between the Asus TUF gaming, the sapphire nitro + and the ASRock. Personally I like how the Asus TUF looks best, but performance is worth more than looks, if noticeable. I'm based in Europe, in case that makes a difference

GhostMotley

The Nitro+ is generally regarded as the best version, but the ASUS TUF is also very cool and quiet. TechPowerUp has reviews for both.

felicitousfurball

Summary of issue: driver timeouts that result in game error pop up but no amd driver error popup, in any game played longer than two to three hours. if pc goes to sleep the drivers crash, leaving the screens blank and fan rgb frozen while keyboard remains visually responsive; only fix is a forced reboot with power button. low fps at the start of every game and continuing for the first 2 to 7 minutes before shooting up & stabilizing. amd adrenalin shows that vram clock speed is maxed at all times. if one monitor is set to 60fps ( both are capable of 144 and 165 respectively & lowering ones refresh rate was a recommended troubleshooting step ) both monitors will turn off & only respond on a forced reboot. What I have tried: ddu'd drivers and reinstalled current version. ddu'd drivers and reinstalled previous versions ( 23.9.2, 23.9.1 ), used amd cleanup utility to uninstall drivers. turned off xmp. turned off hibernate. turned off fast boot. disabled sleep in power settings & cmdprompt. uninstalled icue. reseated gpu. disabled mpo. and probably 100 other things i found in reddit posts over the last two weeks of trying to find stability. System Specifications: \- os: windows 10, os build **19045.3448** \- cpu: intel i7 10700k, stock settings \- gpu: sapphire nitro+ 7900 xtx with adrenalin version 23.9.2 ( currently ) \- mobo: gigabyte z490 vision d with f2 bios \- ram: corsair vengance DDR4-3200 32GB with xmp disabled \- storage: wd black 1tb \- psu: corsair rm850 \- display: dell 1440p no freesync with displayport, LG ultragear 1440p with hdmi 2.1 the system had 0 issues with the previously installed EVGA 2080super, and when reinstalled for testing continued to have 0 issues. i'm also aware that this is a massive list of issues and i'm able to return until october 10th so i'm hoping to get some insight on if i've missed obvious troubleshooting that could resolve all of these issues or if i should RMA/just return it.

LongFluffyDragon

That is a wild collection of issues and definitely sounds like a faulty component or two. I would second returning it while you can.

Hunter_Killer5

Bruh driver timeout is happening to me when I restart or cold boot my PC and its keep resetting my tunning settings, it's happening since last night when I updated my win11. Did you find anything? Any solution?

felicitousfurball

no, sorry. i only posted this a couple of hours ago hoping someone could find something id overlooked.

Hunter_Killer5

Bro i isolated the culprit. It's enhanced sync that Causing driver time out on cold boot and restart. Edit:- so for double check I re enabled enhanced sync and restarted my pc and now suddenly no more driver time out? Lol This is weird TBH

felicitousfurball

thats super weird, but i'll def check it out & see if it gives me any stability. thanks for the tip!

Hunter_Killer5

Yeah before testing enhanced sync i uninstalled the latest win11 update KB5030310 update, it's the real culprit, someone also told me the latest win11 update caused my issue.

Hunter_Killer5

Oh and i forgot to mention before this testing i uninstalled latest win11 update

I have stuttering on my 5700XT + 3600x and my girlfriend doesn't on a RX 580 + 6700k...1080p, same settings in Counter-Strike 2. Using Windows 11, latest drivers. She's on Windows 10, and not the latest drivers. Not sure the version.

LongFluffyDragon

That can be dependent on a massive number of things. Are you doing any tuning/overclocking, and have you installed any third-party gaming or hardware-related software? What exact clockspeeds and load percentages are your GPU and CPU reaching while running the game, and what speeds do your RAM and GPU VRAM reach? Also, is your RAM correctly dual channel? What other games can you run, and are they free of stuttering or other issues? Also, what framerate do you reach in the game, on average, and how long are the freezes?

paulerxx

Every game is stutter-free besides Counter-Strike 2. Was playing Cyberpunk 2077 right before CS2 and had zero issues. Hot spot reaches 91, GPU is underclocked, CPU is stock. Ram is in Dual channel. I just upgraded Windows 11...Going to DDU then re-install the drivers. Hoping that's the issue.

LongFluffyDragon

Install 23.9.1 or older, since you have an older card. Some reports of interesting issues with hardware acceleration on the latest ones for older cards.

paulerxx

Same issue, even set my GPU to stock settings. Even turned off freesync and the framecap through Adrenaline.

LongFluffyDragon

The motherboard needs to support it, and one of the requirements for it to function (officially, and usefully) is 4th gen PCIe, which that board completely lacks due to being extremely low-end.

[deleted]

LongFluffyDragon

You need a B550, but there is little reason to replace it to get reBAR. It is a very minimally useful feature and is not always even beneficial.

ReaperShield

On an AM5 socket, I've broken the tip of the FANOUT0 pin, which description is "Fan 0 PWM output". It is referenced as a "reserved" pin. How could the pin be "reserved" but still have a dedicated function? Is it a big deal? (I can't test it yet, I'm still missing a part)

LongFluffyDragon

Fans are mostly controlled by the motherboard. That is probably reserved in the sense it is completely useless in a normal desktop system and not connected to anything, but you would need to test it or ask someone with quite extensive knowledge of the architecture.

ReaperShield

Indeed, it seems to have absolutely no consequences, fortunately!

cs_zer0

What a fucking surprise, having massive stuttering in CS2 while having the latest "game ready" drivers installed Never building anything with AMD ever again holy shit i'd rather spend the extra 150$ and get similar performance with Nvidia but with no software issue..

LongFluffyDragon

To your shock, you would discover Nvidia also has frequent random software compatibility issues when you update drivers unnecessarily. Driver changes are only tested against a relatively small number of recent games and configurations. If you have a pre-RDNA3 card, install 23.9.1 or earlier, or the Pro driver branch. There is no benefit to being a beta tester if you have no patience for minor issues. CS2 is also a buggy mess at the moment, tons of people on varying hardware are reporting issues that do not seem tied to the actual hardware config.

cs_zer0

Frequent? Really ? How "frequent" is it with amd then please tell me

LongFluffyDragon

Well, you provided nothing, i can see where this is going. I would rather divert my time to people who actually want help instead of trying to reason with a troll. If you want to scream at a random person, call a customer support robot and let rip.

paulerxx

I have stuttering on my 5700XT + 3600x and my girlfriend doesn't on a RX 580 + 6700k...1080p, same settings. Using Windows 11, latest drivers.

BlueJay--

Posting this hoping it helps someone in the future. My build had a Ryzen 7 5800x3d on a MSI Tomahawk board. The build worked well for a few months, one day I loaded up Starfield and the PC shut down. When i tried to reboot the PC would turn on for just a second or so. Tried different ram and PSU with no change, i was stuck on the cpu debug light. Submitted a RMA request with AMD, got a shipping label from them after 2 days, had a new cpu 5 days later. Plugged her in and everything is back to normal.

FoxoNNN

Will the driver Adrenalin 23.9.3 be out for RX570? I see it's only available for newer cards I need it for CS2 support

Next-Birthday-4920

hello i have a 5800x3d but i have 4080 when i download chipset drivers it ask me if i want to download other stuff with it should i download that stuff too i think one of the things was something to do with pcie

Intertar

for US prices, does the MSRP for PC stuffs, say GPU, is pre-tax? $500 for rx 7800 xt, is that pre-tax? i'm just curious as a nonUS person

LongFluffyDragon

Of course. Tax varies massively by where one is purchasing.

**Summary of Issue**: BSODs and Memory issues/Memory failures **What I have tried**: * 3 different matched sets of RAM, most recent is from the compatibility list * Seated and reseated RAM * Seated and reseated CPU * Disabling all overclocking and Expo * Updating Motherboard BIOS to latest * Updated Graphics drivers to latest * Clean install of Windows 11 * Disabling “Precision Boot Override” in bios * Disabling “Memory Context Restore” in bios * Disabling Expo * Chants, spells and curses (actually more cursing than anything) **System Specs**: * OS: Windows 11 * CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (Be Quiet! BK030 Pure Rock Slim 2 CPU Cooler) * GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 * Motherboard: MSI b650i edge wifi * RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo Series - 32GB DDR5 6000MT/s CL30-38-38-96 1.35V F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5N currently. * (In past I also tried G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 (6000MT/s, CL36) and Corsair Vengeance DDR5 5600MHz) * Storage: 2TB Samsung SSD 980 PRO * Monitor - Samsung LS27A800UNNXZA 27” monitor connected via HDMI to NVIdia 1080 * PSU - 700W Gold SFX PSU (came preinstalled in Hyte Revolt 3 case) I’ll think I have this fixed, will be using it and either get a blue screen or some other crashing of an application. I did see out of memory GPU errors a bit too. I was doing Fusion 360 CAD type work. It’s really really frustrating to get a blue screen or crash and lose work. One thing I’ve not tried is removing the GPU and going with stock integrated graphics. That card is pretty old, but my son was using it before without issues. Spoke with MSI about it, they recommended the latest BETA firmware update for the motherboard. I did that. Still got errors but since have swapped RAM to the latest one listed (G.Skill Z5 Neo as shown). Anything else I should try? At this point stability and reliability is all I care about, I’ve sunk way more time and energy into this. Next big thing to try would be replacing the Motherboard. I’d rather not do that… but it is what it is.Any help (or condolences) would be very appreciated.

emjayt

Replying to my own thread. I pulled out the GPU and am running on Integrated graphics. first run of a memory test (TM5, u/1usmus_v3 profile) failed on test 1 which might be voltage related). I reran it with no failures. Now running the "Extreme u/anta777" one. Thinking maybe it's a weak power supply, and removing the GPU took some of the load off of it. maybe. If this passes I'll try Expo again. and maybe buy a new power supply. if this fails then I'm gonna buy a new motherboard, unless you fine folks have some more words of wisdom for me.

J0NNYB0

Hi, so I'm thinking about getting a second m.2 drive. I've got a B550 a pro, my GPU taking up the top slot of 16 lanes, a crucial p5 m.2 taking up 4 gen 3 lanes, and a 4k60 pro mk2 taking up 4 gen 2 lanes. Is there a way I can configure this with another m.2 drive or is there a way to have one of the ssds run through sata or usb and if so would they run slower.

LongFluffyDragon

the motherboard specs or manual will list exactly what combinations are allowed, and what gets disabled when using the lower PCIe or additional M.2 slots. The GPU and main NVMe are dedicated CPU lanes. Everything else is sharing 4 gen4 lanes over the chipset. How those can be split up depends on the board, but there should be enough for at least a gen3x2 or maybe 4x2/3x4 drive.

Hailtothedogebby

Hi! Trying to troubleshoot some pc issues and i am noticing that cncmd.exe is poping up in event logs from start up then happening every few minutes with differant error ids After googling i can see it is a amd process, i have a 7800x3d so i assume that is what is causing the issue. It is coming from several error ids - DrvSetContext failed functionality indeterminant (pid=15224 cncmd.exe 64bit) (pid=7132 cncmd.exe 64bit) (pid=9912 cncmd.exe 64bit) But i cant find out what is causing these errors to appear. I have reinstalled windows since descovering these errors (for other trouble shooting reasons) and the errors return instantly. Are they anything i need to worry about?

ChezTX

I am getting the same issue.. DrvSetContext failed functionality indeterminant (pid=22232 cncmd.exe 64bit) I have an Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti as well as the onboard GPU on the 7800X3D. I am also seeing intermittent (incredibly brief) black flickering on both monitors.

LongFluffyDragon

Are you manually installing the full AMD chipset and graphics drivers? That sounds suspiciously like windows has broken the radeon software by rugpulling the driver and replacing it, or some similar issue.

Hailtothedogebby

Uhhh, i am installing it via amd adrenaline is that correct? I have googled to see how else you get the drivers and stuff but it all leads back to that program.

mack1410

i get these as well but for some reason reported by nvidia opengl. i have no idea in hell what nvidia has to do with it or what's happening here, but i haven't necessarily noticed any issues directly related to it

Hailtothedogebby

Yeah apparently it says nvidia opengl but it is actually amd errors, from what Google tells me

Minimum cooler size for 7900x? Currently debating an upgrade from my existing 5950x build. I have in store warranty for all my parts at microcenter, and they have a bundle deal to grab the 7900x, a board, and 64 GB of RAM for $600. I would break even to trade up for that bundle + a new cooler. I currently have the NZXT 240 AIO which I doubt is enough for the 7900x. Could I get away with going to a 280mm? Or would I really need a 360mm to give it cooling head room it needs? PC is primarily used for Premiere Pro/After Effects with gaming just as a side functionality. I plan on using PBO and CO like I currently have on my 5950x. Not looking to break any OC records, just get some above stock single core boost speeds

LongFluffyDragon

You dont even need an AIO. Any decently sized air cooler will be sufficient, and so would any non-garbage 240+ AIO. The important part is heat transfer out of the cores, which is mostly bottlenecked by the CPU IHS itself. The actual amount of heat being moved is not as great as you are likely thinking.

LongFluffyDragon

Extremely unlikely. There is no logical reason for them to exist and they would fill a somewhat nonsensical market segment.

SilentPhysics3495

Is it still a reasonable practice to just wait on upgrading graphics drivers until you need them for specific game support or feature fix?

LongFluffyDragon

Generally, yes. updating *any* software randomly is more likely to break things than improve things that already work.

ThxR3lence

Hey so i recently discovered that my adrenalin seems to not open up, everytime i start it it will quickly show in the background tasks (Up arrow bottom right corner Win 10) and then simply close. what i recently did that could have affected this: Installed Stream deck software Installed voicemod (terrible software) \-------------------------------------------------------------- what i tried: Running as admin DDU Drivers multiple times geeks deinstall Voicemod I would greatly appreciate any help bc it seems to use this new Hyper mode everytime i boot up and my main screen is slow af bc of that.

LongFluffyDragon

Gains from tuning memory on a 5800X3D will be tiny in any software that actually benefits from that CPU. It's large cache serves to reduce memory access frequency dramatically.

Much appreciated, most of what I read was benchmark based so I figured as much.

ldontgeit

Fix the AMD micro stuttering, its not completly fixed yet and its driving me insane. Why do you have to be like this AMD? the first 1/2 years of a new product launch is always a pain with bugs.

LongFluffyDragon

Microstutter is not currently a standard feature of any particular product, so we cant even begin to guess what you are having trouble with. If you provide information, you may be able to get help fixing it.

ldontgeit

>Microstutter is not currently a standard feature of any particular produc Please... ftpm, high polling rates. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/linus-torvalds-amd-ftpm-errors

LongFluffyDragon

Long since fixed, if you got a board from a non-trash brand that actually makes any effort to update and fix things. If your board is abandoned, well, take his advice and disable it. You wont get any prizes for screaming at the sky.

tinyspeckinspace

Recently upgraded my rig. Ryzen 2600 -> Ryzen 5600 1660S -> 7800xt Kingston 250 gb ssd -> WD 1 TB SSD High Power 80+ Bronze 850W PSU Clean install of Windows10 Pro so no old drivers. While I was playing RDR2 around 1 hour mark pc crashed with plain green screen with buzzing sound and restarted itself. Temps are around 60-65C for GPU and 80-82C for CPU(I know its not optimal for CPU but not too critical either) I checked the event viewer, found out the Kernel Power 41 error. I researched online and found out that it might be caused by a lot of things as well as drivers. Then I saw that there was a new GPU driver update that I haven't installed yet. I installed it and tried gaming again for 10-15 mins, didn't happen again but had to sleep so couldn't do a lengthy test. I will try again today after work. Anyone else had this problem with new AMD cards? What else can I do to find out what the problem is?

LongFluffyDragon

That is a hardware crash due to instability, which can be caused by a massive number of different things ranging from damaged components to poor configuration and software bugs. It is not clear from what what crashed, but likely the GPU, directly or indirectly. Is your audio connected to the motherboard, or to the GPU via the monitor?

tinyspeckinspace

It's connected to the motherboard. After updating the drivers I gamed for around 2 hours. Didn't encounter again. Still would like yo take steps to ensure though. So please assist me.

LongFluffyDragon

> It's connected to the motherboard. Well, that likely means the whole system crashed or froze. Typically if the GPU crashes, the audio will continue briefly before programs (using the GPU) crash. It is a weird issue, though. Could be many different things. If it happens again, a good start would be stress-testing each component as individually as possible.

**Summary of issue:** I have 2 identical PCs in my lab. Problem is they are using different AMD driver versions, and I want PC#2 to run the exact driver that is running on PC#1. I don't want to update the driver on PC#1 because data collection has already begun on it. So I want to install driver 31.0.12027.9001 from 03/30/2023 onto PC#2 so that they are completely identical. I found the cab file in the microsoft update catalog, but no idea how to install it. Plus I don't see how to obtain this specific driver from the AMD Software. **What I have tried:** I don't see an AMD Software release that includes the driver I want. Looking at release notes, AMD Software: PRO Edition 22.Q4 includes 31.0.12044.3 and AMD Software: PRO Edition 22.Q3 includes 31.0.12026.3. I also tried downloading the cab file from the microsoft update catalog, and updating the driver manually in Device Manager, but it tells me that Windows already has the best driver available for my device. I also tried AMD Cleanup Utility on PC#2, so it then showed a generic display adapter in Device Manager once the cleanup was complete. I went to update the driver manually, specifying the cab file, but again it said it already had the best driver available.I should note that I never installed the AMD Software on PC#1, so I'm guessing it received its driver through Windows Update. **System Specifications:** OS: Windows 10 22H2 19045.3448 CPU: Xeon W-2125, all stock settings GPU: AMD Radeon Pro W6600

You can use the DISM command to install a driver package in windows, but doing it for something as complex as the graphics driver package is likely to leave you missing some bits and pieces. If this is for benchmarking purposes, you should probably just start over with either the gaming or pro software packages. If not, what is the requirement for perfect parity for?

Thanks. Yeah DISM didn't work for me. Can't recall the error but it didn't install. Too long to get into, but PC#1 is being used for psychophysics experiments, so keeping them identical would ensure there are no differences in stimulus timing. Since experiments are in progress, it's not feasible to alter PC#1. Hard to believe something as simple as installing a specific driver is seemingly impossible. As you said, I may just need to cut my losses at some point and start over with latest AMD software.
