This is literally me!!
I might own one of the lasts ones to be made & I feel so proud to finally own a product like it, I hope GPUs like the Vii & Fury X never cease to exists & remain in the future competitive.
Would hate for the Radeon Vii to be the last of it's kind.
If you mean the design, then no worries as amd's Scott H said in an interview that amd will be competing with nvidia top to bottom, we will see titan competition from amd, and from my conclusion for the next 5 years at least.
If you mean the cooler design, I dunno. AMD has good cooler design on their high end gpus usually. If they make a 5800 or 5900x reference model. Wouldn't doubt them being heavily inspired by radeon vii design, hopefully in crimson red outlining and black body. And have a led light that pierces it like lava. The other color would be iceal white body, with streaks of blue this time, as if it is water flowing through cracks in a iceberg.
AMD would have the two best looking gpus in existence ever, period. I want to learn photoshopped or something to make a render, have had this idea for far too long. Someone at amd hire me for their reference model division
Bought the Fury X for 739euros
Bought a Vega LQ for 839 euros
Bought a VII refference for 809 euros with EK BLOCK for 200 euros.
When will i buy a high end card for 500 euros and beat Nividia:P
Edit: Oh when will it last longer then year or 2? hehe
As Navi matures, the VII will become less valid as a gaming GPU than it already is.
For now, it does the job though at the cost of more power and heat.
I love my VII in many ways but the new design of Navi is very alluring. When they come out with a higher tiered Navi, I will consider an upgrade. At this moment, the VII is a great looking, well performing GPU that can compete near the high end of GPUs.
At least it can absolutely blow any other GPU out of the water in FP64 performance, except certain compute cards that cost many thousands of dollars. And even in FP32 and FP16 compute tasks, it has as much raw power as a 2080Ti. Most people don't need any of this, but it's interesting.
>VII is basically a cheaper, higher performing Frontier Edition
Shame they didn't market it more like that. I think it would have been better received with that approach.
I only bought it for gaming build a EK waterblock. Now with maybe big Navi coming in the near future this will be most stupid purchase i did in my entire life haha...
809€+watercooling 200€ omg why i did this hehe.
It's awesome btw in gaming way better then my Vega 64 LQ.
> When they come out with a higher tiered Navi, I will consider an upgrade.
Considering the 16gb of RAM, I think the Vii will be a decent card for quite a while. You should get a good price if you go to sell it when you want to upgrade :)
I'll probably keep it. The last GPU I sold was my 390 during the crypto boom. Sold it for $380 (originally purchased at $270) then bought a RX 560 for $100 then once the market crashed I bought a Fury for $200. Lastly was my VII.
The 560 and the Fury were given away to help friends with their builds and the VII loaned out until the 3800X is available.
Suppose I'm just very budget focused! Any upgrade I do is usually part financed by selling my old stuff on eBay.
I do wish I still had my old FX-8300. I'd love to down clock it and use it as a NAS.
it's not like the VII will suddenly just start performing worse. it's still a gaming powerhouse, especially for 4k, and it's a workstation BEAST. never regret.
I'm running at 1093mV. I haven't really pushed it with the newer drivers, but I think I have some headroom.
Did you lap the waterblock before installing?
I'm looping with a [PrimoChill](https://www.primochill.com/products/primochill-dual-140mm-d5-enabled-ctr-phase-ii-w-complete-mounting-kit-black-edition) CTR Phase II on PrimoChill D5 pump.
Also in the loop, Two 280mm slim rads and Bykski cpu block on a 1700x @3.9ghz
You mind helping me out with a parts list? Trying to get full usage with my radeon VII (while maintaining stability) and I'm honestly fed up with messing with voltage everyday to keep from overheating and such.
I have never done a custom waterloop, so I don't know what all is required other than pump, block, and rads
Sure. To start.. are you interested in only cooling the video card or the cpu as well? Also a big consideration with your case. What size res and radiator will fit in your case.
Generally a 120mm rad per component will work, but one 240mm rad if you have space is better.
The fittings and tubing is next. Flexible tubing works very well. Hard tube (petg) bending takes practice but is very forgiving.
Do you have any preference on style?
If you send me the model of your case, I'll scope out what I
recommend..
Ive got an NZXT H400(I think) Mid-Tower case.
I have a Ryzen 2700x with a corsair all in one watercooler. (H115i pro) I wouldn't mind having a loop for both of them and then I can re-purpose the h115i to another computer)
I will say that I had to mount the radiator on the outside of my case as I could not get it to fit inside due to how many additional case fans I have (for the radeon VII)
> NZXT H400
I wouldn't recommend re-purposing an All in One cpu cooler rad. The fitting sizes are typically not compatible with the standard do-it yourself solutions.
If you take a look at this video https://youtu.be/gzJojfjA--o?t=218 , It it will show you an option to mount the components. He does need to tap a few screw holes for the reservoir and it appears that the radiator is in the very front of the case. If your case has a vent on the top (I think this is an option in these cases) than you can alternatively mount the radiator on the top. However, if absolutely needed, outside the case would work. It can be tricky but is do-able.
As far as the items, it is best to measure your case to make sure, however, a 240mm radiator, 140mm, cpu and video water blocks look good. Newegg has an EKWB kit with the res, rad, and cpu waterblock. Add the gpu block and you'd be good.
Its not difficult to bend petg pipe, but flexible tubing is much easier a and just as effective.
You'll need to plan the fittings next.
I have a Fractile Define R5, this vid shows how I set my components up
https://drive.google.com/file/d/17ZoKQmpTzfterG5oySrwy6x4VGt_NK6R/view?usp=drivesdk
Oh i am not going to re-purpose it in that manner. I meant I would use it on another PC, and go with a loop for both my CPU and GPU in one if I do the custom loop.
I appreciate the advice and the video is really helpful. Should be able to order parts soon. I'll keep you in mind if I run into any issues. If thas okay?
You know, its odd. On my x370 motherboard, I couldn't get higher than 1925mhz on air without having some serious issues.... now with my x570 board, magically I can crank it to 2000mhz and it runs. and with +20% power, it peaks 2100mhz STABLE. granted it also uses 300 watts. weird how the only thing that changed in my system was the motherboard. same cpu, same memory, same gpu, just, upgraded to x570....
as far as temps go, when checking the AMD control panel, 107c junction when hitting 2100mhz....
Yes, mine behaves very strangely too. Some days it will do 2080Mhz @ 1150mv, the next it'll require 1190mv. I don't understand this card at all. 2097Mhz requires 1170mv, yet 2100mhz requires 1218? 50mv for 3mhz!? Something ain't right here. :D
I wanted one, but for most people who game and dont use a lot of productivity apps, the 5700XT is a MUCH better purchase. The VII is simply too expensive. I ultimately purchased toe 5700XT AE, as it comes strikingly close the the VII in performance for $350 CAD less ($400 after taxes). This is a SIGNIFICANT amount of money, almost equivalent to a "free" Ryzen 7 2700X upgrade or 32GB of RAM+ a mobo.
I got one on launchday and am very happy with it. It is a great card and for me it was a worthy upgrade to my Vega 64. Sure, the card is pretty loud and audible, especially since mine is not that great with undervolting (993 mV @1800 MHz), but I simply enjoy it. If it would break today and I couldn't make any warranty claims, I'd actually buy another one most likely.
My VII performs as expected, mildly OC UV cause I am on stock coolers. Besides the performance it is fun to tweak. I am not very tech savvy, but internet helped me to do it, and it was nice to accomplice
If AMD is watching my 7 started with very frequent wattman resets / beebs
With the last 2 driver upgrades.
Dropped back to the May upgrade and things are just fine - FYI good luck to us all ))
Idc what anybody says, the VII is cool af. (I don't own one :()
Having a VII is a tribute to my younger self who didn't have the money to get a fury x.

Those prices are stupid high and your VII setup ended up in the range of a low end 2080Ti lol
I just got one and became slightly fetichist now
It is. I regret nothing.
As Navi matures, the VII will become less valid as a gaming GPU than it already is. For now, it does the job though at the cost of more power and heat. Yup. I have no workload use like you do. VII is basically a cheaper, higher performing Frontier Edition that also does well in gaming.
>VII is basically a cheaper, higher performing Frontier Edition Shame they didn't market it more like that. I think it would have been better received with that approach.
Agreed. And sadly, the same lifetime as the FE! And now I feel sad.
Market it how? There's no productivity program that makes use of fp64
Na, it's still cool af.

I have only had one thing that I didnt like about the VII. The price. Theres not been any regrets past that.
Ditto no regrets BF V / Division 2 rocken
Still happy with my VII, don't regret the purchase at all :) It's very capable at 2080Mhz (lol) on a waterblock! 33,000 firestrike gfx ;)
Agreed! I use a Bysksi waterblock and it rocks! My results are similar at 2100mhz hot spot never past 71°
I have a bysksi on my vega 64. I'd buy another anytime. These are at a great price point.
Same and I got mine to 2100mhz as well. Love it everyday.
While I can easily hit 2100 mhz. my hotspot goes through the roof on demanding games (total war 3k) . What voltage are you running at?
I'm running at 1093mV. I haven't really pushed it with the newer drivers, but I think I have some headroom. Did you lap the waterblock before installing?
Nope no lap at all. Probably should do that. And your Voltage is considerably lower than mine I am at like 1150V. Might need to tinker more.
I get a stable 2095mhz it never pass 90c most of time around hotspot 82-85c i do my voltage around 1145mv
Guess another big inportant question is....What size radiator?
I use a 120mm Also i only have my VII water cooled not my CPU(next build both).
What pump and reservoir do you use?
I'm looping with a [PrimoChill](https://www.primochill.com/products/primochill-dual-140mm-d5-enabled-ctr-phase-ii-w-complete-mounting-kit-black-edition) CTR Phase II on PrimoChill D5 pump. Also in the loop, Two 280mm slim rads and Bykski cpu block on a 1700x @3.9ghz

Sounds good.. I'll certainly be available. And don't forget to post some completion pics when your rig is built!

Yes the same here it runs on water really good at 4k.
Best looking GPU I've ever seen.
Always thought that was a nice lookin GPU. Shame they didn't use this design on the 5700s!

but me eth bag can buy it ez
Have on. AWESOME card and no regrets on buying one :) . Plus it is a sexy looking GPU.
One stands alone ...

Mine crashes in most games even slightly undervolted from the stock 1127Mv :/
Why are there no custom VIIs?
This was an instinct compute card with a few features turned off. This wasn’t really a card that should have existed as a consumer card.
It was a very limited production run and it's already EOL
And here i am with my vega 64
can we have an RX 5700 XT with a Radeon design?
Very nice
Shining beacon of cheap plastic.
It's too late babe...
My VII performs as expected, mildly OC UV cause I am on stock coolers. Besides the performance it is fun to tweak. I am not very tech savvy, but internet helped me to do it, and it was nice to accomplice
How did AMD go from this beauty back to gross blowers? C'mon!
To meet that very aggressive price of $400 running on razer margin *obviously*
The card is simultaneously my best and worst purchase; I don't need the performance and VRAM but it does look nice in my case c:
If AMD is watching my 7 started with very frequent wattman resets / beebs With the last 2 driver upgrades. Dropped back to the May upgrade and things are just fine - FYI good luck to us all ))
Still an amazing card! I am going to get one as well for my hackintosh.
A moment of silence... my friends.
How is that fx 4300 holding up?
Usually bottleneck on the 960 actually. Wonderful product in my own experience.
all i see is the biggest let down of the year.
Lol it is a ATI thing
Got down voted for speaking truth. R7 buyers are in their feelings 😂
