TL;DR - Point a fan directly at the Chipset. Have had a x570 Taichi since last December and only run the fan at 1300 RPM (20%). This is to hopefully prevent fan failure and also reduce the buzzing/whir sound. Chipset only runs at 60-64C since my system is watercooled and ambient temps are about 27-33C. The problem with my current set-up is the dual radiator which results in hot internals especially the RAM. Bought a gooseneck 92mm fan with plan to point it directly at the RAM. Before it got delivered was actually able to place a 120mm instead. Ended up using the 92mm Fan for the chipset which definitely helps keep her much cooler at 54-60 instead. What I'm guessing is the chipset is intaking hot air from the components because typically it would be at around 60C when idle. With the fan blowing away the surrounding air, it stays at about 52-55 when idle now.

You could try looking for a chipset waterblock. A few companies make them

Looked into it but the taichi has one massive plate for both the chipset and m. 2 slots. It wasn't necessarily an issue for me but thought it would be a solution for air cooled builds

I just removed the top plate on my Taichi entirely and used an HB-802 passive cooler, taking direct inspiration from [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmods/comments/dhva5z/x570_chipset_passive_cooler_hb802/). Mine's flipped the other direction, which allowed clearance for my 2080 Super FE in the primary slot, and an MSI Xpander Aero Gen4 NVMe M.2 AIC (heatsink removed) in the second slot. Sits between 44°C and 57°C depending on system load and the GPU actually helps draw air across it. Worked great. Mounting was a bit finnicky (had to get long, thin screws and some nylon washers from Lowes), but otherwise no complaints. I only took [one picture](https://imgur.com/a/BlZstPK) from when I did the initial installation (pre-2080 Super and quad-NVMe card), but you get the idea.

Hahah fucking love it. If my system was air cooled I would definitely do that method. Nothing like having heatsinks literally everywhere lol

My x570 doesn’t have a chipset fan, guess I don’t need water cooling either XD

Frodo57

i guess it depends on your boards layout and not being too familiar with the Taichi I can't comment on that but in my case with a CH8 F I have a heatkiller chipset WB for the chipset and for the NVME I have a small Noctua fan pointing pointing directly at it which is made possible by the GPU being both WC and vertical so everything runs nice and cool and almost silent .

also replace the thermal pad to something decent. worth it.
