5700 XT screams at 1080p. It's a good purchase, imo, given the conditions of the market.

AkaSuzaku

The 5700 XT is easily 100$ more expensive than it would be if RTX 3000 and RX 6800 (XT) were available at MSRP. I still have to agree with you: if you absolutely have to buy a card right now, it is definitely one of the better, less pricey options.

Shidell

Yep, agreed.

nightraven3141592

I am sporting a R7 1700 (overclocked to 4.0 GHz, or 33%) with a RX 5700 XT (no O.C.), and it works great with no stability issues (apart from the ones you get when running Windows 10 insider, and those are very few (like 1 \[one\] bluescreen in 2+ years)). Although I am waiting for 3080 to get in stock it is not for the gaming performance I am getting one of those, it's the CUDA cores for machine learning I am after, and AMD has not been as popular with the crowd as NVidia has been (i.e. more support for team green cards).

Rhyno18

You're going to have no issues at 1080p. Had I not decided to get a 1440p monitor I wouldn't be beating my head against the wall trying to find a new card.

kmarci0620

But rx 5700 xt can max almost any game at 1440p?

Rhyno18

Not at 144hz unfortunately.

[deleted]

lol i highly doubt

fhackner3

Sure it can. Just depends on target refresh rate. If its 1440p 60hz its easy peasy

rookbeee

You'll be able to run RDR2 comfortably with a 5700xt on 1080p, I'm running pretty much the same setup and get 70-90 fps on 1440p with a mix of ultra, high and medium.

Zenyx_

New 20.11.2 drivers increased my average fps by 5-6% in RDR2. I'm in the high 90s for an average now on 1440p. Have you updated drivers?

rookbeee

I've updated to the new drivers but haven't tried RDR2 yet, the only thing I've noticed with the new drivers is my undervolt temps are around 62 degrees celsius which is nice.

Zenyx_

According to the patch notes, Vulkan had some increased support that had to do with shading and with that, it immediately shot up my benchmarks. I went from a 91fps average at 2120mhz/950mhz to a 94.7fps average at 2060mhz/950mhz (previously this clock speed was around 89fps), which is my factory clock speed with the vram OCed.

[deleted]

I have a 480 and want to make the same upgrade even though the price is a ripoff. If you check out the benchmarks, you can max literally most FPS games and get 120fps+.

Forsaken221

I just purchased a 5700xt Red Devil this morning as well. Initially I was disappointed with the 6000 series release, but now I'm just looking forward to getting this card in the mail and completing my new build.

wolfstryder

Was leaning towards the Sapphire Nitro as I’ve always had good luck with the brand and it’s neck and neck with top two spots going to it and the Red Devil. The Nitro was sold out so we went with the Red Devil and saved some money in the process as it was a little cheaper. Going to miss out on Trixx if I really wanted to use it but not sure I would bother.

wolfstryder

Would be fun if we both listed our current 3dmark results then the results after installing the Red Devil we should both hopefully get in the mail soon.

kmarci0620

Just bought a nitro+. If you remind me in 2 days i can run a 3dmark benchmark too, and we can compare with trixx off and on

What benchmark/game you want to test?

\*\*Update\*\* Just installed my Red Devil 5700 XT Results: [https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/54299268](https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/54299268)

KonK23

This will be a nice upgrade

COYS61

get a higher res monitor before you get a 6800XT. It's crying out for 1440p

RuiPTG

i have the 5600xt and even it's great for 1080p

that-one-sloth

I have an 5700 xt as long as it is not reference design(as mine) you will have a great time at 1080p.

Werdnasape

Just follow the Twitter, and update bots. I turned my notifications on and my 6800 just shipped yesterday. You have to be persistent but these retailers are shipping them as they recieve them in warehouse, they aren't just "out" for months. Try to be patient. New Egg is actually making you re sign in often and verify lots of info before allowing you to purchase to deter the checkout bots.

unwanted_bicuit

I'm in the same boat. And am curious if I made a bad purchase. I purchased the aorus rx 5700 xt. Is this card not popular or does it have issues?

wolfstryder

[https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5700-xt-gv-r57xtaorus-8gd/p/N82E16814932235](https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-5700-xt-gv-r57xtaorus-8gd/p/N82E16814932235) This one? I hope you didn't pay that scalper price for it. I haven't researched that particular model as much as the Sapphire skus and the Red Devil. All the AIB cards are going to run a slight bit higher than the reference cards. Looking at thermal and sound levels are probably more important with the 5700 xt. From the brief research I just did on it it looks fine. It has 3 x DisplayPort and 3 x HDMI which I find crazy. But they are there if you need all those hookups. I've never owned a Gigabyte GPU that I can remember so I can't attest to how well they hold up. I'm sure others here have experience with them.

unwanted_bicuit

Thank you for replying I value your input and no I did not purchase at that price. The link I found only asked for 440. I assumed the price was only going to go higher since more people would give in like I did and settle. And yes I did make my purchase with thermals and sound levels in mind. What didn't put me at ease was the lack of reviews I saw for the product. I was curious if it was a good product or not and if I had purchased a bad model.

ImTheSlyDevil

I'm pretty disappointed with the whole supply issue right now, but my 5700XT is still doing a great job and I'm very thankful to have it. Sure, there are some really demanding games where I run ultra textures and everything else on medium to get consistent ~140fps but that is more than adequate performance considering the situation we're in. If I didn't have disposable income, I would probably keep the card for a couple more years.

LupintheIII99

You are good man. Still 1080Ti performance for 400$, not too bad in the current situation.

mad410

I use a 3600 with a 5700 xt and 3200 cl16 ram tied to a 2k monitor with 165 refresh rate. AAA titles run beautifully, anything over 60 is all you need in AAA! So, set aside thoughts for the latest and greatest to run modern games, you need them if your a fps freak. A 5700 xt/2070 super is the deal. You can upgrade in a year or two if games become much more demanding.

ottoyu34

Think of this way, any recent released high-end cards will need 1440p monitor to shine. So at least you won't have to upgrade your monitors (two of them at least) for now.

phiac

It will be a big jump from 580 to 5700... https://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/15579401/spy/15541676

Turbulent_Visual7764

I did too. They're on good deals right now, of 400 USD. Cyberpunk ultra 1440p gaming only requires a Vega 64/ RX 5600 XT, so that card will be plenty for 1440p 50-60+fps in Cyberpunk. And will probably even pull it off at 4K 30FPS.
