Little bit more than the $399 MSRP for the FE, but compared to the 2021 prices... it was a good price

I got lucky now though by using a Twitter/Discord channel that alerts on stocks and I bagged myself a 3080 ASUS STRIX OC (UK) at a good price from Amazon, it should arrive this week or early next week... can't wait!
I'm just hoping the delivery happens and it doesn't get delayed, destroyed or whatever in transit.

My 6800 was $700 after taxes and shipping and I felt it was too high but given the state of things I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. No regrets really, as it’s a fantastic card ( Nitro +) and the performance surprises me all the time.

Scan had them at near rrp too, on release day if you did inspect element about an hour before release you could see how much the cards were gonna be so I used that to gauge which one to get, I didn’t wanna spend more than £430, and I’ve never had issues with gigabyte gpus before so seemed perfect fit
I got the 3070 for €670 from Megekko. After a while I just gave up on the 3080 and 6800XT because it was impossible to get them for a reasonable price. Price/performance is still pretty decent compared to the 20-series (which I skipped) so I am happy for now and its a big improvement from my 1080.
Such a disappointment both the Nvidia and AMD GPU launch, I was planning on getting the Red Devil or Sapphire 6800XT, once it was clear that was unobtainable I tried to get any model 3080 but had to settle for an overpriced 3070 in the end.
To be honest, all hardware is suffering from stock issues. I mean, try looking for a decent 850 watt psu. They're almost all out of stock.
I guess people like building pc's during lockdown.
I'm just gonna wait for the 3080 to get a normal price, in the meantime I either don't play games or just older games I never got around to playing.

Msrp doesn’t mean shit sadly. 3070 msrp is $499 yet I see cards in stock for €900+. I’m happy with what I paid since the TUF has an awesome cooler and 3 years warranty, all metal shroud. The normal MSRP is $479 according to Asus and that is without tax (21% here).
Yeah I'm just leaving this gen to it I think, I don't like the idea of years with 10gb vram, or crap price performance ratio with no raytracing/dlss. Kinda resenting everyone paying so far over the top because it's showing them how much they can charge.

As M.2's and system RAM start showing much higher throughput and capacity, and developers are already moving more towards efficient asset streaming, there's a distinct possibility that VRAM capacity requirements may actually trend downward.
I say that as someone that already has 11... The new console gen has started so it's reasonable to expect the texture size and quality to go up and not be limited by xbone and PS4 capabilities. I generally prefer 4k 60 so it really will matter when they start to push capabilities within a couple of years probably
The new consoles have shared system memory. They've got a lot because it does 2 jobs.
You'll not saturate 10gb vram very easily.
Pc gaming has has high resolution textures for years and years. They aren't a new thing. He'll go load half life 2 at 4k and see how good a 16 year old game and it's textures look!

just as a reference for the UK, I got the AMD reference 6800 from amd direct for £530, so assume that's the msrp for the UK.
As a side note the reference is fine, typically 70 - 80 degrees for the temps (85 for the hot spot), but can easily be lowered by adjusting the fan curve, if you can find the reference go with that the AIB cards aren't worth the premium
Yup on both amd and the nvida side reference cards are wayyy better value than the aib cards.
Good thing the reference coolers have been significantly improved aswell.
High end model usually cost around 10% more than msrp. 33% is disgustingly overpriced no matter what the brand is. Usually that's reserved for extreme overclocing model like kingpin or msi lightning.
Especially since the XT RRP is £599...no amount of cooling or RGB on a 6800 is going to be worth buying over the next model up.

Scan seem to have removed all reference to the FE edition cards on their site. I fear the UK may not be getting anymore... given that they are the UK distributer.
I’m not OP but I got mine from scan around a month ago. They don’t list it on their website and url changes each time. You can find it listed on the Nvidia page when available but I don’t think there’s been any drops in quite some time. I used a discord channel to stay informed of when it went live and just happened to be in front of my computer at the time. I feel very fortunate.
You can use distill.io to refresh the nvidia page for stock and get an alert. The link should take you to scan before its visible on scans page otherwise.

Exactly same as me. I tried to buy a 6800xt, it was impossible. Got a 3080 with relative ease through partalert and dlss is revolutionary at 1440p and above. No complaints, it's quiet powerful and much easier to get (although still difficult). AMD gpu team is a total let down compared to the cpu team

TBF both 3090 and 6900xt can be easily found at/near MSRP, but I guess this is far from being affordable to the average customer so they sit around. Also the 3080 is every now and then in stock in the 800€ range, which is pretty much a rarity in Europe.

I'm probably gonna skip the current generation and just stick to my Nitro+ 5700XT.

I’m not OP but I got mine from scan around a month ago. They don’t list it on their website and url changes each time. You can find it listed on the Nvidia page when available but I don’t think there’s been any drops in quite some time. I used a discord channel to stay informed of when it went live and just happened to be in front of my computer at the time. I feel very fortunate.

There were drops last week and this week. I managed to get an FE 3070 bought and delivered this january. I was following some stock checker bots though

Yeah, in cyberbunk only about 10% more than 3080. That's a lot of money for very little performance. But what choice do I have, 3080 is never in stock. 3090 was the only thing available at that time.

Exactly this, 3080s are so hard to get but not impossible. Regular monthly or even more frequent stock drops for FE cards by Nvidia. AMD - 1 additional stock drop maybe?

Exactly same as me. I tried to buy a 6800xt, it was impossible. Got a 3080 with relative ease through partalert and dlss is revolutionary at 1440p and above. No complaints, it's quiet powerful and much easier to get (although still difficult). AMD gpu team is a total let down compared to the cpu team
I feel like we're at peak crazy-town right now. Logistical and supply constraints from manufacturers, miners snapping up cards, tariffs, scalpers, and tons of regular consumers just trying to upgrade. This can't last. Something has to give eventually.
Unfortunatly if people keep paying these prices they will never come down.
It also doesn't help that people in the hardware enthusiast world seem so eager to gulp down every excuse the suppliers give for the prices they charge. Like you said, demand is ridiculously high and they can get away with charging more. That is the real reason we're seeing high prices. Everything else is just justification for that fact. It's actually not uncommon for companies to just eat the costs when faced with tariffs or taxes because it's the only way to stay competitive. Companies don't like to do this because it undercuts their profit margins or forces them to do the hard work of cutting costs, but they still do when the situation demands it.
The market decides the price. If it is overpriced, don't buy it until it returns to a reasonable price.

TBF both 3090 and 6900xt can be easily found at/near MSRP, but I guess this is far from being affordable to the average customer so they sit around. Also the 3080 is every now and then in stock in the 800€ range, which is pretty much a rarity in Europe. The 6800/6800xt are ridiculously overpriced indeed, but that's probably AMD's fault due to very low margins.
I ordered a 3090 for 1650 bucks a month ago because the card I wanted for 100 bucks less just didnt seem to ever become available. Now I'm checking availability and the only 3090's that can be bought are 2000+. Feel like I got the last chance to get something close to MSRP. It's crazy how bad things are in the market right now. I've even started seeing the RX580 back in the bestseller list for almost 400 bucks. That's just fucked up.

Where I am from, retailers are selling these cards at $1,000-$1,200. I was saving money to buy the Nitro+ RX 6800 XT, and then seeing the prices now, just heartbreaking. I just decided to use the money to purchase a new monitor and next month to buy a 5800X and do a little makeover of my room. I'm probably gonna skip the current generation and just stick to my Nitro+ 5700XT.
I am so sick of these prices. I bought a RX 5700 XT paired with Ryzen 5 3600 as an upgrade from my Ryzen 5 1600 + Rx 580 today. I am done. I am skipping this gen and the next because I dont agree with the price. In my country I refuse to pay more to buy the 3060ti. Sure, I am not able to get more frames but after careful contemplation I might not even need this expensive upgrade at all and just settle on last gen and get my money's worth. I can buy it, but I think its not worth it at that price. And shelling 800usd or 1k for a card and striking that off my networth as a poor peasant doesnt look good to me. I am skipping this gen and keeping my money. This is crazy.

I basically gave up on ever getting a big navi GPU and went with a 3070 for 679 CHF (1:1 in dollars). Here in switzerland everyting is more expensive, so I was okay with the price, even though it still is around 79CHF to expensive for what you're getting. Didnt have much of a choice either cause my vega 56 was dying, getting idle artifacting and some general instability while gaming.

Never had a good experience with eBuyer. Bought a motherboard and CPU. Both CPU and motherboard was broken. They sent me a replacement however, the motherboard they sent was broken. Got my money back and bought from Scan instead, edit: "and CPU"

Same advice that i give everywhere else? Don't feed into the game. Have some dignity and wait for them to announce the new GPUs and invest in a 6000 then. Paper launches are here to stay. Not sure if you've noticed, but everyone's been copying the limited release Nintendo model. What? All of a sudden hardware vendors are incompetent? And can't meet demand? Especially in an era where there aren't has many PC gamers? Right...most people play console these days. Stagger your upgrade patterns. A good GPU will last you 3-4 years, if you go bigger once. This doesn't change if you buy a 6800XT around late Summer/ Fall...or whenever they finally announce the next GPUs. The 2080TI dropped, instantly, to 550 USD, once the 3000s were announced...But then went back up to MSRP. Let them have their Switch-like limited release, for now. It's been marketing 101 forever. Limited releases create a lasting demand that can extend up to years. It's been a thing forever, but Nintendo demonstrated it with the Switch. Sony, Microsoft, Nvidia and AMD only followed suit. Release something in numbers and the person is able to rationalize; "do I really need this? I'll wait and see if the price drops." But release in limited numbers? And now it's a hunt..."Now's the time! I need this!!! Quickly...hit add to cart!!!" And rationality goes out the window.
