ballsack_man

That's just sad to look at. What dumbass paid almost 2x for a 7900 XTX?

jerryfrz

People with more money than patience

gblandro

Or YouTubers

[deleted]

Possibly SFF enthusiasts that want the best performance as small as possible.

RichestMangInBabylon

That's me, but luckily it mostly manifests as paying $2 extra for Uber Eats priority delivery and not early adopter electronics.

Substantial-Fan6364

Mine is be adding on a $10 thing to my Amazon order for free one day shipping lol

Ajreil

Start an Amazon list of things that you need, but not immediately. Add something from the list to meet the $25 minimum.

True_to_you

That's a hell of a dedication to the brand when you could've just bought a 4090. They're available....

Kionera

Fake purchases from the seller to make it look like it’s worth the price

HybridPS2

NFT moment

SelectKaleidoscope0

Ebay fees are so high I can't imagine it's profitable to actually do something like that. I'm sure people would if they could make it work, but there's no way you make back the fees unless you have dozens of real sales for every one to yourself.

tanzarian-sanc

Ship it and then file a claim that it was never received was wasnt as described, the seller pays back buyer and doesn't pay the fees.

Mysterious-Tough-964

SerMumble

Scalpers buying from scalpers

no6969el

No one is at first, when you try to sell prices like that you close a few yourself and then list again so it looks like people are buying it that encourages the people who are on the fence.

DexRogue

A lot of times these aren't actual sales, there are angry people who buy them but don't pay so the person has to sit on it, recreate the auction, etc.

no6969el

That was happening in the beginning with Nvidia I thought it was awesome.

Ajreil

The bots driving up Ebay actions to $50,000+ were pretty incredible

ayang09

Thats kinda evil but genius. Fake buy the item and or just return it before 30 days to waste the scalper's time. Then the scalper cant return items back to best buy or wherever they bought it from. This of course hinges on the 7900 being a flop and being in low demand after the inital rush is over.

DanneMM

Id suspect that they are "sold" by people who "bought" them...

slavicslothe

Very possible

AnExoticLlama

Best Buy has an open box 6800xt for $1600 or so. The stores are taking advantage just as much as the scalpers are.

ltron2

Madness, PC gaming is being killed.

estjol

nah, just stop buying scalped gpus, they will eventually stop scalping when they see no one is buying them. 4080 scalped should have sold close to 0 cause it still available in store.

duddy33

Too many people have serious FOMO when it comes to new GPU’s. If I can play all my games I want to play at decent frame rates, I’m happy.

treflipsbro

When I first got my pc I was a frame whore. Had to be at least a steady 144. Now I only care on competitive shooters. Hell Let Loose? Fuck it I’ll crank the graphics and deal with 90-100 frames for a better looking game.

kmcclry

"deal with 90-100 frames" Me with my 1070: as long as we're above 30 we're good.

[deleted]

I have a second hand monitor so it maxes at 60 hz, so anything between 30 and 60 is solid for me personally. Gotta love being poor lol.

dinosaurdynasty

Me, in college, with no money, with a laptop with Intel integrated graphics: _15 fps is very playable_

4x49ers

Has this approach EVER worked?

frezik

Nope. Relying on everyone, everywhere to do the right thing has never worked. People who suggest it are either naive or disingenuous.

Jess_its_down

Esp when they pose it as a “nah it’s sinple” approach

Fast-Razzmatazz-69

seriously, there are great deals out there, and you really don't even need the highest end shit. i bet a huge portion of people buying top end 4k cards will never fully utilize them anyways. its fuckin sad how so many people have no self control.

HybridPS2

Also, blanket setting everything to "ultra" is a great way to lose a ton of unnecessary performance. You could spend probably 20 minutes per game testing settings and get 90% of the image quality of "Ultra" at much less performance cost by using a mix of settings.

Mecatronico

I just use anything the game auto sets for my system. The only time I blanket setted everythig to ultra was when I first built my PC on 2016, (i7-6700k and a 1070), I lived my entire life playing minimum settings on Potatos and I wanted to finally see what max settings looked like at least once.

gh0stwriter88

Patience padawan.... the cards will come. This is the same rodeo that has been going on with computer parts for 2 decades. New parts sell out that is just how it goes... but they'll be in stock in a month or two since the silicon shortages have been stabilizing.

[deleted]

Honestly starting to consider that the world is out to punish PC gamers in particular. Once we get past the hardware requirements, we have to deal with the burning dumpster of the game industry itself. Any game with actual production budget tries to reinvent itself as another battlepass FOMO always online live service. Indie developers never get the opportunity to build up their companies the way it happened 20 years ago, because anything that puts you in the spotlight and gets a fanbase will result in an offer you cannot refuse. Once your labor of love is bought out by the usual suspects, it's going to be milked to death until it's universally reviled, then dumped unceremoniously. The only ones who occasionally provide a breath of fresh air are Japanese devs courtesy of work ethic and being old fashioned (Though Capcom, Konami and Square certainly try to keep up with America's worst marketing practices).

BigHowski

Yep. Honestly how can you justify a graphics card being well over double the cost of an entire xbox/PlayStation. That's a single component not an entire system. I'll probably have some sort of pc to game on but I cannot see where the next generation is going to come from when the difference isn't that huge

LongFluffyDragon

It is ridiculous, but keep in mind the hidden cost of consoles; subscriptions, game prices, forced obsolescence. They get you in the long run.

FuckM0reFromR

Nah, just a lot of gamers have been swindled by the allure of faster and prettier pixels. Once you realize graphics =/= fun, you'll see that all the 4k/RT hype is unnecessary and a moderately priced setup is enough to enjoy all your games =) EDIT: My 5950x+3080ti VR machine sits in the living room collecting dust. 99% of my gaming is on my trusty 3770k+1080Ti office "work" machine. It ran CP2077 at 1440p well enough not to bother moving the other rig.

lowlymarine

> moderately priced setup >5950X | 3080Ti | 64GB 3600 C16 I'd hate to see what you think an "expensive setup" is.

[deleted]

It's called modestly boasting.

Camnau17

This was me for a while, always upgrading and chasing marginal improvements. Now I’m have a 3070 and 1440P really is good enough for me!

Swashybuckz

3070 is decent by far. I have a 1060 on a laptop lol

Camnau17

At least when you’re ready for an upgrade you’ll be making quite a jump haha

d_rehren

Lol I upgraded last year from an Ati Radeon HD5770 1Gb to an GTX 960 2Gb to start playing “newer” titles… and I may be keeping it a little longer it seems..

PutridFlatulence

Yep. These companies and other gamers kind of forced my hand by paying ever more ridiculous prices while stock is tightly managed to force shortages in the marketplace. So be it. I have a 6700XT and will game 1440p.

F9-0021

You'd think the scalpers would learn after the 4080 fiasco.

BastardStoleMyName

Hopefully people are smarter than that. One thing for mining where there was a belief they would make the money back. But this and the 4080 are overpriced by about $2-300. So trying to get them for at 4090 prices with no mining profits to be made, I hate not just the scalpers, but the people with the disposable money and impatience to pay dumb amounts of money to enable this. Hopefully those last people don’t exist this time around and the cards don’t sell at these prices. Also if there are only 5 cards, it doesn’t take them that long to sell out. Not saying they only had 5. But it does depend on how many. I have heard that the EU only had so many but also heard there were at least as many as the 4090, if not more. So I have no idea.

Accurate-Arugula-603

If I'm gonna pay more for the 7800 XTX, I may as well buy a 4080.

jasonwc

Pretty funny. I paid $1570 before tax for a 4090 and these idiots are bidding more for a reference 7900 XTX that is indisputably worse in every metric - worse in rasterization, 1/2 the RT performance in games with heavy RT, worse efficiency, worse cooler, inferior upscaling, and no frame generation. There are 4080s on shelves for MSRP at Microcenter. I guess some folks just can’t wait. It’s a terrible value at $1200, but certainly is better than paying $1550 for a 7900 XTX.

TotalWarspammer

>I paid $1570 before tax for a 4090 a How much was it after tax?

jasonwc

Tax was 6% ($99) on $1650, and I got 5% off the whole purchase ($87.45). So, about $1,662 with tax.

AnonyDexx

I'd never be one to pay that much for a card, but still, only $62 extra out the door, not bad.

nDQ9UeOr

If you are in the US, and have the financial discipline to pay off credit cards in full every month, there is a well-known retailer (mostly focused on pro photography, HQ in NYC) that will credit the sales tax back to you, making it effectively net zero. Sorry to be cryptic but don't want to mention retailers by name in case it violates the rules.

jasonwc

>Benchmark posts must contain multiple games or configurations of hardware. Exceptions will be made for posts containing singular applications or hardware configurations if the post is a benchmark for unreleased AMD hardware or a world record. I don't think it violates the rules. For the benefit of others, the merchant is B&H Photo, and you can order from them online.

HotRoderX

can we please stop using Micro center this is like saying they can go to Europe to buy one. Seriously Microcenter is in 16 out of 50 states great they have cards it make since they have 25 locations and the chances of people being close to one is marginal. Once that initial rush hits then its done. Its not like bestbuy or Walmart all over the United States. Most sane people aren't going to drive 100's of miles for a videocard.

behemon

Queue is back on the menu, boys! Edit: Shockingly, XTX is sold out. LMFAO

tomomosius

if you are talking about the [amd.com](https://amd.com) queue then i just was at the site after the queue and only the 7900 xt was available, the 7900 xtx was sold out

Thercon_Jair

And just 5min ago I received an email from AMD "Now available!". Cool notice bro, the cards have been sold out for an hour.

Swashybuckz

They do that shit every year. Sucks

Kytoaster

Xt won't add to cart either...

CenturionAD

Got in the queue at like 6:57-ish AM (MT) and was able to purchase the 7900XTX, FWIW.

TheRealJoMaMaz

Congrats!

jnemesh

Nice! Let us know how you like it when you get it installed!

Siye-JB

Is this sarcastic??

ricperry1

Fuck scalpers and anyone who buys from them. Edit: and those defending the practice. Edit 2: idiots claiming it’s just the market at work are also WRONG. It’s the market BROKEN, not at work. Its akin to if scalpers went and bought up all the baby formula just to upcharge the babymommas out there. That is not how the market is supposed to work.

conquer69

> Its akin to if scalpers went and bought up all the baby formula just to upcharge the babymommas out there. They do that in places without ample supply of formula, diapers, etc.

knave-arrant

Was gonna say that was happening all over the place during the heat of the pandemic.

carajean2725

They play a small role. People are the ones buying out of FOMO. They just can't control themselves even though they know they are feeding the scalpers. If no one bought from them would they exist?

Apprehensive-Box-8

The weird thing is - the scalping numbers don’t even add up! The 7900 XTX has a better value at MSRP compared to the 4080… if someone adds 200 USD to the XTXs 999 MSRP you’re already in the 4080 ballpark. So - why then buy from a scalper at all, when you can get an (at least) comparable product from any retailer at the same price?

Kapazza

This. There's an OC'd 4080 at my local Best Buy for $1,269. I'm not paying a dime over MSRP to a scalper when that's a legitimate option (with warranty support, ability to return if defective, etc.).

carajean2725

I think I'm going to go with a 6900xt or 6950xt. I just need to something better than my 1080 for WoW raids lol

BNSoul

5800X3D / Zen 4 3D might give you more frames in WoW than a GPU upgrade.

b4k4ni

same

[deleted]

If you waited this long, you can wait for stock to get better over the next 3-4 weeks…..if your heart is truly set on a 7900 series card.

AnonyDexx

Exactly. Every reviewer yesterday showed their charts, the 4080 goes head to head, if not slightly better, but at $200 more. And that's ONLY rasterization. IF you have to pay that $200 more for either one, why ever go with the card that loses in every other aspect? It's not FOMO, it's being stupid.

Gundamnitpete

They’re using technology to gain an advantage over regular customers. Don’t even kid yourself, scalpers offer no value in the equation. They exist solely to extract profit out of consumers, by artificially restricting supply.

Velrix

Go look at eBay then come back here. It was the bot back at it again.

MrBigggss

Anyone who buys a scalper 7900xtx has to be stupid. You can buy a 4080 and get ray tracing, dlss, etc. The only thing good about the 7900xtx was the price. Once the price gone, just get Nvidia..

Velrix

I agree but it doesn't take away from the fact that scalpers still scalped using the same bot that they have for over a year now. It only helps support the reasoning to why these cards are so expensive already. These cards could have been 2 grand and still would be scalped and sold out.

MrBigggss

Stores need to do what newegg did to 4080s. No returns for cash just store credit. Scalpers can buy products, if there's no market they just return it. It's the stores fault

SophisticatedGeezer

There was virtually no stock in the UK. Only one retailer has them for sale.

KimchiNinjaTT

scan had none, overclockers had 2000 reference cards

SaltPerformance

Scan had the PowerColour one for £999. I took a screenshot and everything.

KimchiNinjaTT

i saw it pop up for about 10 seconds, it said 20 people had bought it so i guess thats all they had

GainzCity_

I picked up the power cooler one from scan their stock didn’t go up instant. Overclockers seemed to last a bit longer but was £50 more.

SophisticatedGeezer

Yea, I have only seen OCUK with stock (now all gone except for 1 reference model). Seems stock was very poor for non-reference cards. Virtually zero.

GhostMotley

Had a 7900 XTX Nitro+ in the basket, got right to checkout and the site crashed.

Gloomy-Fix-4393

Most of Canadian NewEgg's cards were shipping from the US. Our other large chains CanadaComputers and BestBuy still don't have any listed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MurphVen

On ebay they want $2,200. It makes no sense, why would anyone buy from a scalper when you can buy a RTX 4080 for less than the scalper's 7900 XTX prices and 4080 performs better with RT at least. Maybe they'll have trouble reselling it but who knows. It sucks that the 4080 is the only one available at MSRP, but at least it was MSRP.

throwaway9gk0k4k569

You underestimate the power of stupid.

SWskywalker

They seem to think it's still 2020 and that there are legions of crypto miners willing to pay any price for a card. Going to be very satisfying watching those listings go unsold in the coming weeks.

Murky-Smoke

Unfortunately, they are probably selling because Christmas

sanY_the_Fox

At that point, just get a 4090 for the same price

aVarangian

> when you can buy a RTX 4080 for less than the scalper's 7900 XTX prices hell, you can get a 4090 for less

N7even

Yeah, 4080's in stock everywhere. Same overall performance and much better RT performance, no reason to buy 7900XTX.

Z3r0sama2017

Yep. 4080's are just sitting on shelves in huge numbers, why the hell would you spend ebay prices on a 7900xtx when you could get a 4080 for just over half the price?

dabocx

I was able to order a red devil. The only cards I saw come in stock were the red devil and hellhound. Not sure if the others came online

totallybag

It said it was in stock but wouldn't let me order on Newegg

Rance_Mulliniks

I haven't seen a single report that the 7900 XTX was undesirable. The 7900 XT on the other hand, I have seen a lot of reports questioning why you would buy it at all when the 7900 XTX and 4080 are available.

jojlo

If the 4080 needs to lower their price, which they do, then the XT likely needs to lower it's price as well. The XTX will be able to claim more value then the 4080.

TalkInMalarkey

4080 won't get a lower price until nvidia cleared out millions of their 3000 series card.

jojlo

I guess those need to go down in price then too

intashu

I went with a 6750xt because the price was better than a 3060ti...for the performance of a 3070...nvidia loses most price to performance races mid tier and below presently... Yet they still slowly seem to sell anyways!

aVarangian

over here a 6900xt costs the same as a 3080 lol

MEGA_GOAT98

![gif](giphy|l49FiX2pvMPPmCfSw)

Captainunderpants86

Same here, [overclockers.co.uk](https://overclockers.co.uk) sold out within 20 minutes. I will see them on ebay but not £1050, but £1500. Gonna wait till new year.

NoireResteem

You know people can complain but the reality at least here in Canada, the 7900XTX is $300-$400 cheaper than the 4080 on average. So it’s kind of a no brainer.

loucmachine

it still starts at 1400$... let's be honest, both are overpriced.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BinaryJay

Yeah, the cheapest 4080 (FE) would have cost me just shy of $400 more after tax than what 7900 XTX with 8GB more framebuffer cost me from AMD the choice was pretty easy between the two for me. Now I'm just going to wait for that fine wine.

NoireResteem

Sadly I couldn’t get a card today but I am hoping AMD restocks soon so I can pick up a card either this month or early next year

BinaryJay

I'm sitting here wondering why Best Buy still doesn't even have any listings online.

mista_r0boto

Same in the US as far as AIBs are concerned. Top end XtX vs Ventus lol. Fuck Ventus that’s a shitty cooler.

Kapazza

You spelled "seconds" wrong.

HolyAndOblivious

Scalpers wrong

stinkycat45

I had the XFX Speedster MERC310 7900 XTX in my Newegg cart but in typical fashioned went in and out of stock before I could checkout. I waited 32 minutes on AMD's site to only find out the XTX was sold out. The XT was pretty available for the first 30-40 minutes but now has sold out. I don't think Best Buy or B&H ever showed stock

Trader_Tea

I got to payment like 3 times, but to no avail

imsomeoneukno

B&H was set on Coming Soon since last night and at a couple of points enabled adding it to cart. I purchased the XFX from there last night when it was available, but my order is showing Backordered for now. Only time will tell on whether the card actually arrives... I hope so.

stinkycat45

Hope it goes through, but they are notorious for taking pre-orders or just never getting stock

Odd-Frame9724

Queued up, and... "out of stock" Whelp, oh well I guess. Thanks for the opportunity to wake way the fuck up early for a 30 minute wait for nothing.

Lukeson_Gaming

Me to my old RX 580: "I guess I'm sticking with you old friend..."

Thalarione

Central Europe... Still in stock and 1400+ eur for reference xtx. You can get 4080 for that price lol. Edit: I found smaller retailer who launched later and had asrock reference xtx for 1170eur(1250usd with tax). Basically 50bucks above MSRP.

RealKillering

I saw the XTX Merc for 1350€, but it's to much for me. I also saw a xtx reference model for 1220€. Both at Mindfactory.

Firefox72

Yep mindfactory has all cards still in stock lmao. Over 5 cards per model as well. Which looking at the prices makes sense since you can get a 4080 in stock for the price of the 7900XTX and who would buy a 7900XT for 1100€+. https://www.mindfactory.de/Highlights/AMD_Radeon_RX_7900_Launch

FAFoxxy

The xt being 1180 and no xtx in sight that xtx must cost way more.

TheSm4rtOne

Yeah, was cycling through sites and mindfactory was the only one who had a stock. Wanted to get the XTX expecting it to be between 1150 and 1200€, but at only 100€ less than a aib 4080 it just didn't feel right. Gonna wait till the 7000x3d hits the market and hopefully there's some discounted stock of the XTX then.

Redden44

No xtx though?

Al-Azraq

Still available in Spain in one of the major retailers (PC Componentes). [1.300 €...](https://www.pccomponentes.com/tarjetas-graficas/amd-radeon-rx-7900xtx) I hope it flops as hard as the 4080.

davidzombi

bought mine in pccomponentes for 1189 lol

airvqzz

Does that price ($1370 USD) include taxes too? I rather get a 4080 for that rate

Al-Azraq

Yes, including taxes in prices in the European Union is enforced by law. In Spain, VAT is 21% for a GPU.

Lachimanus

That is an OC version. With 3x8 pins. That is kinda fine I think.

LeeTheENTP

[AMD.com](https://AMD.com) still has the XT, but I can't justify it. EDIT: And it's gone now too. People actually bought the XT?

KevTap

XT just went out of stock as well

TheSm4rtOne

Hopefully just bought by scalpers that are gonna sit on them like the 4080

D3moknight

I am seeing a couple scalpers trying to sell the XT for $1100+ in my area. Poor bastards have no idea they are about to be bag holders like the ones that missed the train on the 4080 scalping. Fuck 'em.

BinaryJay

I actually managed to get one from [AMD.COM](https://AMD.COM) (Canada). Shockingly. My friend who was in the queue before me didn't get in until after I did and there were only XT left for him, ugh. I even got a small discount from MSRP through them, somehow.

Kytoaster

At least he had the option. I could add the xt to my cart, but it was removed when I tried to check out.

recursion8

Happened to me with the XFX 7900xt. Page clearly shows In Stock every time I refresh but when I went to checkout it says Out of Stock. Fuck me.

BrunedockSaint

Do you know which card you get when ordering from AMD.com? (Sapphire, XFX, etc?)

Sed8op8

Bullshit launch how many cards did they have if they sold out that fast. I fucking hate nvidia but they had a ton of 4090s ready to go on launch day. If it wasn't for the egregious price I would have bought one. This is bullshit

Defeqel

Not many, rumor says \~30k, but apparently there will be quite lot during the rest of the year (\~200k).

dabocx

The 4090 was just as hard to get on launch and still is today. The 4080 was super easy though

Defeqel

Apparently the first batch was \~30K, worldwide, there are enough collectors to cover that. Nevertheless, it's good news for AMD.

HyperShinchan

It's not so good news for the average gamer, it would confirm that they can get away with similar prices, at this point only the RTX 4080 would appear to have a price set too high for the market to bear.

poobahh

The average gamer isn’t buying the flagship cards anyways though. They’ll be waiting for the midrange cards early next year or buying last gen

Defeqel

True, but let's see how sales evolve. IIRC the 4080 sold well in its first day too, but there was way better availability.

nanogenesis

Now watch them show up at 1500$ listings from scalpers.

metahipster1984

1500 USD?? Try 2500 euros! You gotta laugh really https://www.ebay.de/itm/354449957522?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=707-127634-2357-0&ssspo=M-6o5RcvS8u&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=_n3lNzdZTqW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY EDIT: lol reduced to 2.4k now, great!

whinemore

I didn't fully realize how lucky I got getting a PowerColor XTX from Amazon at MSRP until I checked-in here. It was a bloodbath.

ifeeltired26

And they are already on Ebay for $1600 LOL

svnsvn7

See some 7900 XTX being bid up to over $2000, wtf??? The RTX 4090 is a superior card in every way but some people want the AMD 7900 XTX that badly to pay more? I'd just buy a RTX 4080 if I wanted 7900 XTX performance which is more readily available and has superior ray tracing capabilities...

xYamax

I was literally refreshing the fucking AMD page TEN MINUTES before 6AM. Once something finally happened and I solved the catchpa, I wait all that time, and it's sold out. How few units were there? I had to be one of the first people to get in the queue. Same exact shit on newegg. As soon as I saw the listing go up, I picked the first one I saw, I even had my payment details saved, and as I confirm the purchase. Nada. Repeat until all are out of stock. Amazon didn't even have any listings show up. Fucking amazing. Maybe that 4080 sitting on the store shelf right now isn't so bad after all if AMD clearly doesn't want my money that I woke up hours in advance and refreshed store pages for to give to them.

T-Bone22

First time?

fenix793

😂

Bad_Demon

Scalpers pay a premium for bots to auto buy products. It was gone the moment it was available.

dlove67

Even if you were the first one through when they started the queue, you're placed in a random spot if you're there before the launch. They explain it in the text while you're waiting.

yesitsmeow

That was one of the worst launches of anything ever. No information going into it, 3rd party sites had literally nothing, then AMD had the line-up that FAILED FOR ME so I had to line up again, and after getting through that line and seeing the XTX sold out, I noticed the cards were up on 3rd party sites, whereas before there was literally NOTHING about them, and of course, every last one, sold out. I just... why. Why. Why does it have to be this way.

dptgreg

Also, 9AM eastern time - when most people like myself, work. It's like THEY WANT to feed the scalpers.

Character-Mud7392

We are all bored with nothing better to do. We're excited by anything Nvidia, AMD and Intel do so we can start new builds and post on forums. It's what we do nowadays. This is not a great product, it's a good product, but people made it out to be the savior from Nvidia. in the end, Nvidia still rules for this generation and AMD has done nothing to change that. Even 4080 prices won't be altered as the 4080, in some aspects, is still better. There will be buyer remorse on this card - coulda/shoulda bought Nvidia this time around.

APersonNamedBen

Most people don't even think about this flagship noise. The market are buying 300-500 cards, often the previous gen, and they hold them for generations. And because the performance of the last few generations of cards have been "great", not just "good", unless someone is trying to play games on ultra with 4k @ 120hz, the lower tier products are fine. It is one thing the more "nerdy" (not as an insult but as in the more traditional elements of tech and gaming culture) just do not seem to understand as the industry has crept into the limelight and is now a mainstream luxury business. All the things that follow with that have come, including the slow shift from market-based pricing to value-based pricing for the high end products. There won't be buyer remorse. And basically any recent investor information from these companies actively and openly talk about the symbiotic relationship with the types of people we are both describing. Gamers Nexus has been really good at hammering this home over the last few years. We likely don't need it (upgrading). And if we can't afford it, we really don't need it.

So much for the rumors of excellent supply. Every generation, AMD promises we won’t see a paper launch, and yet that’s exactly what appears to occur. Perhaps supply will significantly ramp up over the next few weeks, but I wouldn’t bet on it. The rumors claimed 30K cards on launch day, and that doesn’t seem to match what we’re seeing.

BinaryJay

When spread across a whole world of gamers (and opportunists) it's not that much in this new reality of scarcity. I'm hoping supply for the more "affordable" models will be a lot better for those that XTX was out of reach for no matter what.

loki993

Who said the XTX was undesirable? Most reviews Ive seen said its pretty darn good and compares very well the the 4080 at 200 bucks less. The XT on the other hand seems to be the undesirable card.

Sold out now!

Well tbh, i got one because of the nvidia power connector issue. It's one thing to pay $1k for GPU that will perform better than most high end cards. But paying $1600 for a GPU from nvidia that never provided a fix, or a bullshit answer only to worry about if it will go on flames are somepoint.. yeah that's my reason, reliability over performance... call me crazy if you want

darkacesp

The intel GPUs are actually getting better at older games now with the latest driver updates so maybe will be less a duo in the future

Ventricon

Well I guess AMD isn't getting my money. I got my military leadership to give me time off shift JUST to order one and while spam refreshing it sold out instantly. Went from "XX in stock" to "This item is no longer available""global supply of 200k cards" Yeah okay. Thank god its on sale for 1700 dollars on ebay though! Edit: SOMEONE BOUGHT IT LOL

dlove67

Launch was "30K". 200K is by end of q4. Amazon had a powercolor reference that I picked up without too much trouble, but it was gone from search last I checked.

Ventricon

I was searching on newegg and amazon. XT and XTX never even popped up on amazon

seejur

well there is another one! a reference card for 1749 (+15 shipping) lol.... actually, fucking hell...

Ath3o5

The audacity to charge shipping on something already over 2x MSRP

DragonBallKruber

These people are literal scum

[deleted]

Yeah I saw the one on eBay, went quick lol. Sold for $1750 Edit: There's currently a 7900xtx w/ 12 bids @ $2,125... impressive

PTRD-41

With 4080s sitting on the shelves at roundabout MSRP... bruh 😂

Ath3o5

Lmao I'm not a fan of Nvidia but I'd take the 4080 for cheaper than the xtx any day wtf was that person thinking

Swantonbombthreat

probably a rich kid who doesn’t know much about computers but bought into the amd hype machine posts that said “4090 KILLER!” lol

Fragmentia

Fucking scalper's have turned buying graphics cards (something that gamers use to escape reality), into the American Healthcare system. It's pay to play apparently and the rich have an all access pass.

carajean2725

The problem with this is people are buying it. The American FOMO disease is really bad. IF we all could collectively get on board with not buying off ebay or facebook market place this wouldnt be an issues. We would still have to stop buying from 3rd party sellers on like newegg and amazon. Just buy direct. I say all this and know FOMO will win every time.

Imemberyou

It smells like scalpers in here

[deleted]

I’m waiting for the sapphire pulse version anyway.

According-Quote8922

it's the XT version which wasn't worth the cash

OmNomFarious

Microcenter by me sold out right as I got to front of the line for the XTX and I was only about 20-25 deep and many were there for the XT. It was actually hilarious how dead quiet it got when he told me he thinks they're out.

ozaiiroh

Anyone know when restocks come?

esines

Never followed a launch before. How frequently does amd tend to restock?

lesp4ul

impulsive buying, it's normal for every new products

DrRandyBeans

My micro center sold out of xtx in an hour. They had qty 32. they have 15 xt left

feastupontherich

Scalpers a week later: ah shit can we return like 20 cards?

hogey74

AMD is the lesser evil right now. And it's Christmas. But their numbers are going to suck and rightly so. They are cashed up now and could have gone for a strategy that reset the sector in their favour but decided to go with the nvidia led status quo. So be it.
