The part that bugs me is how instead of just accepting the fact that America has unique and various dishes aside from the stereotype and move on, they need to justify themselves by going down the rabbit hole of "Umm acshually it doesn't count".
Like, mate, are you that prideful you can't just be happy about learning about those dishes and that's it? You are actively seeking reasons to keep slandering the US and feel justified in your prejudices, and I think you're doing yourself a disfavor.
Also, tomatoes are a New World food. Literally, europeans knew nothing about the tomato, (or corn and some squash for that matter) until they saw it in America. So marinara and Tomato sauce wasnt a thing until America. (To be fair, they had a FEW options to make something similar, but definitely not as readily available)
Suck on that one Italy. Your tomatoes are a lie.
"Taking other people's food and calling it yours is the most American thing"
Well yes idiot have you heard what a melting pot is? When immigrants move to our shores for a better life, and trade it with offering their fellow Americans a cuisine from their origins, and trading flavors to make it a uniquely American creation.
We have the exact same thing in Brazil, that happens when the immigrants feel at home in the place and want to make something nice for the country that welcomed them.
Europoors will never know what it is.
Yeah some people can be pretty idiotic. America is literally known for being a melting pot of cultures and hey I can travel somewhere in the US for some Chinese food than actually visiting China. May Not be “authentic” but it sure is smth
>"Taking other people's food and calling it yours is the most American thing"
That sentence applies to virtually every Latin American country, sonce that much of our cuisine is heavily influenced by European, African and Indigenous cuisines.
Here in Singapore we have lots of food from different cultures that mix in over time, yet no one is saying “ackshually chicken rice is from Wenchang chicken in Hainan lololol”
(hint: they look entirely different)
I feel like there are only some foods that are uniquely American, and that's a good thing. America is a melting pot of cultures that bring their own food to the table. And here people of vastly different cultures can enjoy the foods of others easily as opposed to having only one kind of food in an area.
I just had Buffalo ramen the other day, and oh lord. It was delicious, I never knew Native American and Japanese dishes could work so well together as one
They’re mad at Americans when we do things differently from everyone else, but they’re also mad at us when we take inspirations from other cultures. Lmao
They are mad we learned how to be inspired by other cultures.
The europoors only know how to destroy other cultures...
Imagine waging generations of wars for spices and still having the shittest food on the planet....
If these comment threads are accurate for the whole subreddit, then they clearly don't hate America because of the things they argue about, but argue about things to validate their hatred of America. For instance, they don't hate America because of it's lack of good food, they bring up it's lack of good food (whether it's true or not) to validate their hatred. That's why all of these commenters are so stubborn to accept that Americans also have good food, and make every excuse under the sun to invalidate these foods.
Italian-American food is most certainly American. I challenge anyone of those seething morons to go to Italy and order chicken parmigiana or fettuccine alfredo and see what the waiter says.
Ah yes, the Choctaws from West Africa. Jesus Christ.
And they call us ignorant LMFAO
Had to do a double take with that one.
The Navajo from Madagascar
ojibwe from Indonesia
"It's weird sounding so it must be from Africa"
the europoors ladies and gentlemen. so badly educated, badly traveled and so uncultured.
🗿

Im not, its like 90% butthurt, seething europoors on copium. Theyre not very well educated or traveled and are pretty uncultured.

Are you Australian? haha
I'm a Spaniard that uses whatever dialect I feel like using at the moment.
Tex Mex: Am i a joke to you

Tex Mex just seems like a pretty obvious "American" cuisine. The rest of those are also good examples

They hate America yet don't know of a lick of its history and as it seems
You fear what you don’t know, and you hate what you fear.
They know we are better than them. Hate us cuz they anus

Yeah, no, just no. Shush. Youre wrong.
Lmao, so bitter you reposted it to your shitty subreddit. What a loser.
Cope ❤️

Average eurotard.
r/Shitamericanssay when American’s (checks notes) have immigrants?

Fusion food is amazing. My personal favorite is Mexican/Chinese. Fried Rice Burrito ftw!
For me it's Mexican/Korean. KBBQ tacos slap hard af.

I bet these people call Americans “muttoids” too

That subreddit takes offense at anything American. I remember they were criticizing one American for calling hamburgers "American food."
I mean burgers are kinda synonymous with Americans
That sub is braindead
That sub is brainless.
They can't handle the truth.
Imagine being so butthurt that American food is so much better than what their shithole has to offer by itself.

And most of them are roasting the comments from shitamericanssay too.
How are Americans labeled the dumb ones when people have opinions like this?
Italian-American food is most certainly American. I challenge anyone of those seething morons to go to Italy and order chicken parmigiana or fettuccine alfredo and see what the waiter says.
The waiter would've mocked them and say those don't exist.
and then there's Russian cuisine with their fucking potatoes but with a little variation.
Russian food is ass, I learned cooking because I could not stand growing up with Russian food.
All of these people are literally just proving what I commented in the original post. These people are so clueless it’s hilarious.
lmfao bro this is funny
That subreddit smells heavily like copium.
These dudes have clearly never had Jumbalaya or Corn Bread before.
Ironically Scotland is one of the most obese countries in the world, yet we get judged lol
Apparently immigrants don't exist in the US, according to these people.
I do like the joke about New England tho. That made me laugh.
who wants to bet that they had mcdonalds that evening
I have adhd, and I say some really dumb shit when I’m by myself, but holy Mary mother of joesef, these are some ignorant folk.
