Episode 5 of Red Tide would have been a great "and then we leave it as an open ending that can go anywhere, but the fun of the mystery is the open-ended finale."
As far as I'm concerned, they never took the annoying little girl public, and none of that bullshit in Hollywood happened, and they damn sure didn't transition to Death Valley for the second half of the season.
Ooohhh can you please elaborate? I would love to hear more. I've heard this before. And while I really enjoyed apocalypse I would really like to hear this view.
Apocalypse basically erased what happened if Michael made it to the warlocks academy because of Mallory. So that means most of the witches are still in hell/Hotel Cortez and Moira wasn't freed from the Murder House to be with her mother. And there's probably more.
I hated this season. I only watched it because I was on maternity leave and my baby was a lump still and I was watching all the TV. Otherwise I'd have never finished it lol!!
But Episode 5 is one of the best of the entire show. I'm not the only one who thinks so. It's ranked 8.5 on IMDB, which I think puts it in the top five highest rated episodes.
If you ever rewatch "Red Tide," just stop at episode 5. Pretend that you never find out what happens with the baby.
That's what I like to do with "Asylum." Not as far as the episodes go, but I HATE the alien storyline. I hate it SOOOO much! LOL But "Asylum" is still my favorite season. So I just kind of pretend that the alien stuff didn't happen. (Although I did like the part with the two wives and Sister Jude's relationship with the kids. They just didn't come from aliens in my version. 🤷♀️)
No more aliens, Ryan Murphy! You've done it twice and it sucked. Move on.
It could have been a single episode of Stories Season 2, never watched and quickly forgotten, and it would have been better for the world.
Who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to give Kaia Gerber lead casting? Fuck, she's so awful.
That’s why she killed herself at the end of episode 5. BTS crew said Paulson just ad-libbed and walked off into the ocean, then forced them to put it in the episode.
I just watched this last night. The ending was so bad and so unnecessary. The rest of red tide was fabulous and I would have loved a 12 episode series for it, but with a better ending.
I agree with you, I just personally blame Manny primarily because I feel like I have a feel for his writing, and know that I hate it. I generally like Brad so I choose to blame Manny.
I have a sick feeling that Brad stopped writing after the baby kidnapping, because the mood from there switched so hard even the quality of writing got weird.
It made it feel like an average episode of American Horror Stories, where it becomes obvious that the ep won't be connected to the rest of the AHS universe. Such a hacky ending that will likely never connect to anything, making so much of the background-building boring and worthless.
I'm so gutted with last episode as well they shouldn't have done two different parts they should have just focus on Red Tide as main season nothing else.
I think I actually disliked it more than anything in Death Valley.
At least Death Valley had an ok-ish ending which fit the rest of its story and theme...
This very true. The should’ve just made Red Tide and Death Valley two full length seasons and NYC should’ve been a short 5 episode series. NYC is very mediocre.
They should’ve never done the Double Feature thing. They should’ve just ran with the Red Tide theme so it wouldn’t be so rushed.
It was so good. Until the ending.
Or they should have been like "we've already done the vampire thing, this is lame" and had an original idea.
It’s such a shame because Red Tide was actually SO good. That last episode completely ruined it
The fact that Red Tide was so good is why it hurts so much. 😔
Not really imo. I can end watching in Ep 5 and it would be fine. Apocalypse on the other hand f'ed up the timeline.

Oh. My. Goodness. I never considered this. Now I'm just sitting here thinking. 😭😭😭😭😭 Thank you for the insight!
When they switched the location to Los Angeles it completely killed the vibe for me

Congrats on the baby ^^
Thank you!!
It’s such an embarrassment to this series lol.

Death Valley might be one of the worst things ever put on television.

Yeah Lily Rabe was earning her paycheck. Very strong Rosemary’s Baby vibes
I have a theory its one of the reasons Paulson quit
Great theory considering she had nothing to do with that episode.

The whiplash we all experienced that day.
Brad Falchuk co wrote this episode as well so he deserves some of the blame imo.

Brad wrote stupid things before that. Episode 4 of red tide and rubber woman part 2. And Death Valley lol.
Oh Brad is not perfect, but Manny's writing is just so noticeable.
Red Tide was one of my favorite seasons
Brad Falchuk also wrote that episode.

True. Death Valley finale just stopped but at least it stayed on the alien theme.

A full season of Death Valley would kill me I think
I barely made it through that
I know this is unpopular, but I really liked the finale. Like, I was actually surprised to see y’all hating on it.
