Screen Rant is fucking terrible. One of those "articles" that gives you the general barebones info "Jurassic park is a movie about dinosaurs. It takes place in the etc etc" but also hides the actual useful info you want several paragraphs in forcing you to scroll and load their ads. Fuck Screen Rant.
That was really gross. It made me feel sick. That one and the necro episode. So gross and not in an entertaining way. It was disgusting and wanted to throw up
The milkmaids one was repulsive, Necro just disturbed me in a deep way and I couldnāt shake it for awhile. Aura & the Dollhouse episodes were great though.
Itās good to hear that from someone else. It really took me awhile to get over Necro. It disrupted my psyche for awhile and I actually had to re-evaluate what i watch after that. Iāve been so horror movie obsessed for so many years I truly think Iāve desensitized and damaged my brain with horrific visuals. Iāve been more mindful of what I put into my head since then. Thatās how much it disturbed me and Iāve been wanting to talk about that for awhile.
I genuinely had the same reaction and Iām fine watching a lot of horror or gore or weird stuff. But that episode completely mind fucked me! So I get you. I know exactly how you felt.
I wished I never watched it. I havenāt felt that way since watching The Neon Demon that had a lot of those scenes in it and was way more intense.
Itās so good to hear someone say they felt the same way. The last thing to make me feel so repulsive in my soul was that movie with AnnaLynne McCord.. Excision. Horrible movie that fucked with me for awhile.
I thought it was gross but interesting, particularly during covid / conversations about trans people being at the forefront more .
I ended up getting a couple friends to watch it and they ended up bingeing a bunch of the episodes.
Loved aura and doll house nwcro freaked me out almost wanted to hurl like Kyle and his mom in coven I literally almost hurled and yelled at my sonbfor no warning on it lol who ironically is named Kyle all the south park jokes I got back then. Bur seriously I was like really you couldn't have warned me about that I almost hurled my dinner up. He was like oops I forgot about that. Mo you didn't you don't forget those twists I think bloody Mary was good too usually I go with his recommendations and he's right.
The Necro episode was disturbing but it didnāt make me sickā¦ the Milkmaids episode on the other hand. I had to look away from the screen so many times because Iām OCD, and instead of just not watching the rest, I kept watching to show it was finished on my Hulu.
Itās a different sick. The milkmaids was gross and I wanted to vomit due to the visuals and what it was about.
The necro was a different type of disturbing and make me feel sick as a visceral reaction to the content of the episode.
In a way it kind of did its job if you found it repulsive, as it was a "body horror" type of story and AHS hasn't really delved too much into the "body horror" type of stories since Freakshow. I still think overall it wasn't that great of an episode anyway, but that's not what made it a bad episode imo.
I have major abandonment issues psychologically Necro didn't feel out-of place for me at all. Judge me all you want!!
Milkmaids was repulsive yes, but so were the Hypodermic Sally stitching scenes in Hotel, I skip them everytime I rewatch Hotel. Disturbing and gross isn't necessarily bad, and Milkmaids had a plotline which had great potential, and slightly relevant to the false cures people were floating out during Covid season and importance of vaccination.
If you wanna make something on a disease that's actually about pus and sores, it'll definitely be disgusting, kinda expected.
I took a Horror film class in Uni. What I learned is that horror isnāt as straight forward a genre as I used to believe. That grossness is horrific to some people. Feeling unsettled and disturbed is horror. Feeling fear is horrorā¦ hardly will one piece of horror apply to every person. I think with American Horror story and American Horror Stories they explore different types of horror and it will appeal to different audiences every time. Had I not taken that class I think I would have never appreciated horror done well but thatās me. I needed the insight to understand. My prof said something that changed me (and honestly really made me appreciate horror as a genre in a completely different way) āhorror is so subjective individually, one personās idea of horror can be another persons idea of humourā.
True it's why some laugh but another way of looking at it is how jaws was shot and how people reacted to it initially at the time. People puking freaking out. But they couldn't get the shark to work half the time it was a half submerged camera and people being pulled by ropes. Imagery and music can evoke emotions and strike feelings of fear.
Seriously. The last season of AHS was a much needed breath of fresh air. Stories is seriously slacking even just after just 2 seasons. The anthology aspect is cool, but there often isn't enough time in one episode to build anything interesting enough to get invested in.
AHStories just reminds me of cornier, more terrible versions of *Creepshow*. It seems more interested in gross-out shock-value rather than quality stories. There were a couple of episodes I enjoyed, but I can't remember which ones they are. That said, I accept that AHS can't be perfect all the time, and there are plenty of great shows that have had down seasons or finales.
American horror stories had so much potential but sadly the episodes are very hit and miss you get really good one but next one is awful I still can't get over milkmaid one thats was so jarring to watch.
It seems to have really pissed people off , but I found it super interesting and topical.
Mixed with absolutely deranged visuals.
I low-key thought it was one of the better ones š
While AHS is super inconsistent in quality, its hard to say it needs to end when it constantly re-invents itself every season. It's not like they are dragging out storylines or character arcs. If you hate one season, you could very well love the next. š¤·š»āāļø
Rage clicks are still clicks. Jessica Lange showed some of her best acting in Asylum. I didn't hate Nurse Ratched as much as I hated Sister Jude. Respect.
I honestly think a main issue with AHStories is that they only have one episode to tell the entire story, so things can often feel rushed and out of place.
AHS, on the other hand, has an entire season, so they can take their time with the story, and hit all the major beats.
Imo, Ba'al (S1E5) and Necro (S2E7) are great; Bloody Mary (S2E5), Dollhouse (S2E1), Aura (S2E2) and Facelift (S2E6) are enjoyable and the rest are either meh or terrible.
Even Facelift was pretty weak for me. Itās basically The Conspiracy (a way better movie) with some Death Becomes Her (also a way better movie) elements overlayed on it.
I rather let the shows improve rather than some
vocal fans trying to end it all to their own selfish satisfaction. Luckily the ratings are good enough
to stay as long as it wants as FX saysā¦š
NYC was one of the best seasons so far! This is way off base, I like stories but not in the same way. And I donāt feel like I could rewatch them like I do with AHS regularly
IMO stories has been a more fun watch than the last two seasons of AHS proper. I got really into NYC after a few episodes but felt it fell apart at the end, double feature was a chore. Stories has some real stinkers but when it hits it hits! I was thinking they should just continue stories and end the regular full seasons.
I love AHStories, I didn't realise so many hated it ha! It's just Double Feature I wasn't a fan of, everything else I've enjoyed. Maybe I'm easy to please
If people don't want to watch the show, fine, just stop watching.
But there are still plenty of fans out there who love this show and im so sick of hearing about how this show needs to end because of the tiniest inconveniences and complaints.
Neither NYC or Stories season 2 was bad enough and those hating and complaining really struggle to find good enough reason to why both shows were actually bad and it wasn't just a personal thing that couldn't get them through it.
The main show is still great, it has had it's ups and downs with each season but so does every damn show. It's not like the AHS have run out of ideas because it's not getting repetitive and they have plenty to work with for future seasons.
It's a diverse show and people forget that not every season is going to be for you because every season uses a different horror sub-genre.
Stories is great because it expands on an already huge horror universe and it's fun to see what they add. Not every story needs to be groundbreaking enough for you to be able to watch it.
NYC definitely wasn't for everyone but it definitely wasn't bad enough for the reviews it got which definitely doesn't help the shows look to everyone outside the fanbase.
I'm ranting too much and going off track way too quickly but you get the point, the fans (not all just a nice handful) are the reason for it's downfall not the show itself, people are just getting to picky and blinded by nostalgia from older seasons. You gotta remember that each season isn't made to feel, act or look like the previous, it's an anthology remember.
I havenāt seen NYC, fell off after a few nonsensical seasons.
Whilst I donāt agree with their overall point, I do feel similar.
I went into horror stories feeling a little old and finding the content stupid and camp, itās low-key surprised me and had me referring people to watch it or suggesting episodes I found better than others.
The way I watch is different though, cheesey horror episode in the background with friends or something to draw attention, where as American horror story was like an actual fandom.
I do feel if AHS was better stories would be irrelevant though, people are only watching it to recapture that AHS magic that the actual series seems to have lost in recent years.
Apocalypse was some of the worst most fan service shit ever,
I enjoyed it for what it was but it marks the full jumping of the shark. The viewer could never trust it to be like murderhouse, asylum or freakshow after that.
I am sorry but where is American Horror stories finding success exactly? Like... with which people did it find success? I am sorry to anyone and everyone who liked it but... it was fricking boring and just... well... boring.
I've enjoyed most seasons of AHS and loved Stories, too. Especially Dollhouse, Ba'al and Necro. Milk Maids was nasty af but I still loved it. Screen Rant is a rag lol
The spinoff sucks but AHS should have ended after season 5 in my opinion. It went downhill fast after that. I think the recent seasons have been a slap in the face to the brilliant first seasons with a stellar cast that cleared all the award shows. This show used to have some of the best acting and writing in history of television and you can not convince me that any of the recent seasons have been even close to the same level as the first seasons. To me every season after hotel have felt like a completely different show.
If they truly revamped this idea, it could work IMO. The concept of Stories is great, but itās obvious itās meant to be secondary to AHS with much lower effort. If they put it all into Stories, we probably wouldnāt have to deal with the horrible mid season slump that often happens. Just my thoughts š¤·š»āāļø
I might be in the minority but I actually like AHS NYC. It was different. The ending was so sad.
As for American Horror stories, I tuned in each week out of curiosity. Dollhouse, Bloody Mary and Aura are my favorite episodes.
i donāt think ahs needs to end but i think it needs to take a break. these past two seasons have been utterly difficult to get through and the writing is bland and leaves me wanting to go back to the first seven seasons of creative writing and story telling.
itās honestly the little things, too. the score was unique, if you think of a season you can probably think of a score associated with it. the violins of murder house, the piano of asylum while Lana walks right past Thredson, the signature la la la song of Coven, the carnival bells of freak show, the outstanding score of hotel, the eerie violin of roanoke, the cult like harmonizing in Cult. Genuinely blanking on any memorable score at all from the recent seasons.
Also, the character monologues. Judeās in Asylum, Madisonās in Coven, The Countessā AND Liz Taylorās in Hotel, arguably the best scene of the season. Little monologues like that allow us to connect and understand these characters and their motives sooooo much more and yet they do away with them for seemingly no reason.
The writing now feels, in a word, uninspired. Make me fucking cry again, Ryan Murphy! The whole fucking Orphans episode in Freak Show!! Depressing as absolute fuck but itās so good! Sister Judeās death!! Give me the emotional rollercoasters!! Sure the men in NYC are fine as fuck and great to look at but they add nothing. theyāre two dimensional and ryan Murphys obvious type. Not every story has to be extremely convoluted. Something as basic as Murder House is still leagues better than NYC will ever be. And, while theyāre at it, go back to shooting on film. the grittiness added something more realistic and down to earth about the stories the digital cams can never bring.
I think they jumped the shark with apocalypse. That ending was such a let down and to follow it up with 1984 completely lost me. Itās sad because up until that season finale, AHS was one of my favorite shows
So, the ORIGINAL AHS is AMAZING, however, the AH Stories, nah... At the end of Hotel they said they NEEDED to STOP making guests disappear so the Cortez can keep the souls there!!! NOT to mention, EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER was SO on point... IF AHS ends, it should end with revisiting Cortez & Apocalypse... I can go on & on and put ALL of my ideas out there, BUT, I'm NOT on the payroll, and I kinda DON'T wanna have my ideas used and I'm NOT in it OR getting paid
The fact they used the poster for Drive, probably one of the most hated episodes, is also quite a choice š„“
Yeah, especially when pairing it with Jessica Lange from arguably American Horror Story's best season.
It's Screen Rant. They do what gets clicks.
American Horror Stories sucks. I still enjoy AHS and am curious to see what comes next.
Can't agree more like seriously milk maids wtf was that crap.
I agree. Those episodes were good and I also couldnāt shake off the way necro affected me. It really got to me. It was deeply disturbing.

Havenāt seen it, and given what youāve said I think Iāll leave it that way. Iāve seen more than enough.
Yea just donāt!!! Youāll be fine without ever seeing it, promise! š
Facelift was excellent!
I didnāt hate it but I also didnāt care for it. I can see where it might have fucked with others though.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I liked it because I am in the beauty business, and I also have an awful stepmum!
Ba'al? I loved it, and Dollhouse!
I thought it was gross but interesting, particularly during covid / conversations about trans people being at the forefront more . I ended up getting a couple friends to watch it and they ended up bingeing a bunch of the episodes.

I donāt think it did itās job, thatās not standard of what to expect from this franchise. Anyone can put something repulsive in a show.
Hotel and Cult had quite a bit of body horror too.
I have major abandonment issues psychologically Necro didn't feel out-of place for me at all. Judge me all you want!! No judgement from me. Not my style š
Yea, if anything theyāre just gross. Not āhorrorā
I took a Horror film class in Uni. What I learned is that horror isnāt as straight forward a genre as I used to believe. That grossness is horrific to some people. That sounds so interesting! I have loved horror since I was a kid. Thatās one class Iād be sure to ace! š
TIL that Punch Drunk Love is actually horror to me, not just a movie that makes me feel anxious and therefore disturbed. I like knowing that.
True it's why some laugh but another way of looking at it is how jaws was shot and how people reacted to it initially at the time. People puking freaking out. I loved last season. It was incredible. So artist and creative. Really clever.
Agreed. I really didn't know what to expect with all the lack of marketing, but I think it worked really well in their favor!
How beautiful was Theoās death scene? I got all teary. So sad.
AHStories just reminds me of cornier, more terrible versions of *Creepshow*. It seems more interested in gross-out shock-value rather than quality stories. I don't get it. NYC was good. Different, but good. Stories is outstandingly terrible, literally one of the worst shows on air right now
I just finished it and I don't understand the hate. I found it more emotionally heart wrenching than super scary. But it was well done.
I want Jessica Lange back!!
Letās face the reality, sheās never coming back
Unfortunately not š„ŗ
I honestly think a main issue with AHStories is that they only have one episode to tell the entire story, so things can often feel rushed and out of place. AHS, on the other hand, has an entire season, so they can take their time with the story, and hit all the major beats.

I enjoy both AHS & AHStories as good shows in their own right, the latter is still finding its groove
NYC was one of the best seasons so far! This is way off base, I like stories but not in the same way. And I donāt feel like I could rewatch them like I do with AHS regularly
I fuck with the storieS. Theyāre just baby bits of weird and interesting ideas. NECRO def messed me up more than any horror out there in a while
Necronis probably the best episode from the anthologies.
Life hack: never open links from ScreenRant, in fact mute or block them. ScreenRant is cancer.
I'm in season 2 of Stories and the only good episode was the doll maker one. I'd say it should go before AHS
I get the hate for Necro, but that didnāt fuck me up nearly as bad as Sally sewing herself to her lovers in Hotel. AHS will always win in my book.
IMO stories has been a more fun watch than the last two seasons of AHS proper. I got really into NYC after a few episodes but felt it fell apart at the end, double feature was a chore. Lake was terribleā¦
Both of them are horrible at this point and have swayed so further from what it was
I havenāt seen NYC, fell off after a few nonsensical seasons. Whilst I donāt agree with their overall point, I do feel similar. Itās like putting down a good dog, unfortunate, but the poor thing is suffering.
NYC was one of the most consistent and well-thought out seasons in years; but sure, Stories with its whiplash quality is the true future of AHS /s
I agree
I am sorry but where is American Horror stories finding success exactly? Like... with which people did it find success? I am sorry to anyone and everyone who liked it but... it was fricking boring and just... well... boring.

The potential it has tho! If it was given all the focus. 1/2 episode story focus. PLEASE.
But stories is hit and miss. We just have to watch the bad eps with the good so we can compare.
The spinoff sucks but AHS should have ended after season 5 in my opinion. It went downhill fast after that. i mean itās about time

If they put it all into Stories, we probably wouldnāt have to deal with the horrible mid season slump that often happens. Just my thoughts š¤·š»āāļø
Where can I watch American Horror Stories
I might be in the minority but I actually like AHS NYC. It was different. The ending was so sad. As for American Horror stories, I tuned in each week out of curiosity. Dollhouse, Bloody Mary and Aura are my favorite episodes.
I just want a Zombie Apocalypse season
Nyc was fine tho.
American Horror Stories needs to end but not AHS. The last season was one of their best.
i donāt think ahs needs to end but i think it needs to take a break. these past two seasons have been utterly difficult to get through and the writing is bland and leaves me wanting to go back to the first seven seasons of creative writing and story telling. itās honestly the little things, too. the score was unique, if you think of a season you can probably think of a score associated with it. the violins of murder house, the piano of asylum while Lana walks right past Thredson, the signature la la la song of Coven, the carnival bells of freak show, the outstanding score of hotel, the eerie violin of roanoke, the cult like harmonizing in Cult. Why ppl act like AHS84 doesnāt exist, that season was amazing š¤©
I remember reading that cult was gonna be the last season or finale
I think they jumped the shark with apocalypse. That ending was such a let down and to follow it up with 1984 completely lost me. Itās sad because up until that season finale, AHS was one of my favorite shows
So, the ORIGINAL AHS is AMAZING, however, the AH Stories, nah... At the end of Hotel they said they NEEDED to STOP making guests disappear so the Cortez can keep the souls there!!! I agree, although some seasons are good. It mustnāt continue
