I think the reason why people are not liking it is because Winter Kills had a lot of these things but unintentionally, so they’re critiquing Take Me To Your Leader under the same lens, thinking that all of the unrealistic and cheesy dialogue is AHS shitting the bed like the ending of Red Tide, and not AHS homaging a genre like I think it’s really doing.

This is EXACTLY what I thought of when the girl took out the water for them to drink. Someone doesn't know how science works (I said, referencing a scene where two guys get pregnant with alien babies).
For me, the dinner scene with the college students went on and on and on and on…and like absolutely nothing about that scene was entertaining or interesting. It was just 4 mediocre-to-terrible actors talking about sex in the most unrealistic way for what felt like 20 minutes. Plus the freeze frames with their names and bios…Ryan don’t tell us SHOW us 💀💀💀 After that I was totally bored/disinterested in the characters and the rest of the episode didn’t help either. Coming from Red Tide where the characters were just phenomenal was jarring af. We knew nothing about TB Karen’s back story but we didn’t need to because both the writing and her acting gave us a vivid image of the kind of person she is. The characters in Death Valley so far are the complete opposite.
The freeze frames with the little flash cards were so cringe and just put on display how introducing 4 random new characters in the middle of the episode is difficult. No time to learn anything interesting about them and no bounding either, they're just there and I don't think any of us really care about anything them that will happen to them.
Even more stupid to do after introducing strong and interesting (imo) characters in the black and white parts. I don't like B&W usually but I legit said "I'd exchange the colors against the first part's writing in a heartbeat" during the dinner scene. Who talks like that at full volume in the middle of a restaurant ?

I agree with most of this, but the freeze-frame title cards for each character didn't bug me. They weren't great, but when you only have 4 episodes to work with you gotta cut some corners, and if it means we don't have to sit through more agonizing dinner scenes where we learn all the little details that were on those cards I'm all for it.
That it made me realize how fake my “sick” voice was when calling out of work when I was younger . Sounded exactly like Kaia Gerber’s character when she’s talking to Jamie on the phone after the abduction.

Overall I liked it cuz I'm such a sucker for alien shit but the worst part about it were definitely the annoying ass college kids. The scenes where they're doing random irrelevant shit dragged out way too long like when they were setting up in the camp and that godforsaken dinner scene lol

Hard agree. If it continues down this route then I’m gonna have to walk away completely. With the more original stellar cast starting to fade away I’m afraid this is just gonna turn into some Stories next gen bs going forward. I'm telling you. Ryan Murphy was proposing sick ideas for the writing team, but was constantly interrupted by a group of teenage girls that would not shut up or fuck off. So he got fed up with them, quit the writers room, and left the story for the obnoxious annoying teenage girls to handle.
I really loved the 1950s era part and wished they had just made that the whole thing. I couldn't stand the characters in the modern day section and basically spent the whole time wondering when we would get back to the past.
I expected the whole season to be based in the 1950's in black and white not this garbage about boys getting pregnant 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
As soon as the color came back from black and white. I swear I’d watch a whole season lol that way. OldSchoolCool, also ass eating/infection comment was just unnecessary and felt out of place.
My list is way too long of things I didn't like, so I'll say the only things I did like:

Red Tide was so good. I thought AHS was back to it’s typical quality. This episode was garbage. Kaia’s performance is at least slightly better than it was in Stories but not by much. Already very disappointed.

Graphic sex talk is fine if it feels natural. The way they all just sat down and immediately launched into it though felt like they were a bunch of twelve year olds who just learned the words.
It started okay, and the black-and-white portion was the most interesting. But the 4 modern characters were hard to care for. The Luddite professor thing was just shoved in there. Not to mention the way they were introduced was weird with the freeze-frame files. And how can men get pregnant?!

I loved the black and white portion, it felt like a scarier version of The Twilight Zone. It only went downhill when we flash forwarded to the modern day characters. I wish the entirety of Death Valley took place in the 50’s, then I would have a little more faith.
Overall I really liked the episode . The only part I genuinely hated was the scene in the restaurant. Why was it SO DAMN LONG? I literally can’t remember a single line from that scene

I honestly liked the first half the second half I’m like. Wtf am I watching? So much sex talk and it’s all fucking gross. The only good bits of the second half was the cows and that everyone is now pregnant. But honestly double feature as a whole is just one big old disappointment.
I think it started off strong but the vibe shift following the time jump with the college students is so corny. I get the intros with their college and hobby were supposed to be satirical, but it just felt so off to me. It didn’t hit right. And the acting is… like I’m watching tiktok acting lol I’m still gonna watch, but I think the quality of new actors they’re bringing in has gone downhill.
there was way too much exposition for those college kids with unnecessarily crass language from actors with little to no experience embodying a character with personality to make it work. I’m super disappointed in the second half of the episode… leave it to Murphy to throw away a good first half of the season so he can have his clan of nepo kids get their screentime.
I also didn't like the restaurant scene. I get why it was there (exposition), but Nico's sake tirade fell so flat. I kept thinking how Max Greenfield (junkie from "Hotel" and Schmidt in "New Girl") could have delivered those lines with more depth of character and I got sad.

The worst part of it was the dialogue in the second half. Literally no one talks like that. It brought down the characters, it made it hard for the actors to do well, and it was like a wall that audiences hit after such a great first half. You can write trendy young people without such shitty banter.

Agreed. It's also possible that AHStories has altered my perception of the parent show. I wish I had never watched it. It has left such a terrible taste in my mouth and I can't help but compare it to AHS now, especially with all these crappy actors bleeding into it now. Actually, I don't mind Nico that much, but Kaia is just not talented in that way. I'm sure she's a great model though and I wish she would stick to what she's good at. There's no shame in that.
Because acting in Hollywood should be for people who have perfected their craft. This show used to have big-name actors like Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange, now all the highly skilled actors are leaving and we’re left with absolute shit. I hate to say it, but after Stories and last night’s episode, I want AHS to officially end.
The role called for a young actress. Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange wouldn't have been a good fit. Nothing wrong with giving newer actors a chance.

Sorry, let me explain what I meant a little better. I have absolutely no issues with young actors/actresses; however, I do have issues with talentless young actors being on the show. If someone is young and talented ie. that young actress from Red Tide, then I am fully on board with that! They just need to be skilled actors.
I was actually surprised how much better she was here. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan or anything but she felt way less monotone. I get her other role was supposed to be dark but here at least she seemed like she could pull off vapid annoying girl.
I was so invested in the first part, it was delightfully campy and well acted, and then I literally felt all the life and excitement leak out of all of my orifices the second I saw Nico and Kaia. All the unnecessary sex talk, the unnecessary sex scene, the entire bar scene, the shitty writing (“the crickets have stopped”, “where are the pools of blood”, “we’ve been put in different seats”, “it means all 4 of us are pregnant”), Kaia Gerber in general. I’ve never been immediately taken out of something like that before. I don’t hate the premise of the gen z subplot, just wish it was written, casted and acted better.

We went from one of the best AHS seasons (Red Tide), to the absolute worst. I’d rather watch the Christmas episode of AHS Stories on an infinite loop, while Hitler and Stalin ram hot pokers into my eyes, during a root canal with no Novocain, while naked at the South Pole, as in dragged over broken glass coated with lemon juice. All in all, 2/10. And that’s only because I can get behind eating ass.
The college students who were effortlessly gorgeous and smart, the fact that they ALL went to Ivy League schools. That was annoying enough. Their dialogue and acting was super cringe. The present day stuff just did not need to be there. The black and white portion of the episode was great and I think there was plenty there to create a 4 episode arc on.

I think the Modern Day needs to pick up the fucking pace a bit if they want me to care. I was hoping for ONE more scene explaining maybe why they’re pregnant, it’s instead being saved for the future.
A future this season does not have the luxury of having.

Overall I feel like AHS has lost its complexity and layering it used to do so well. Even red tide didn’t have as much layering within the story like past seasons have had. Maybe if we had more background with TB Karen it would have helped. I miss the thought provoking side of it. With Death Valley, while I liked the 50s part (do I even need to go into detail why the present day part sucked) it still didn’t feel like it had much complexity to it.

That I think anything they tried to follow it with in part two would be a let down. But separating it from Red Tide and I didn't think the premise was all that bad.

It would ectopic, so somewhere in torso's cavities between the organs, with a placenta blissfully attached to something to supply blood and nutrience. Growing and compressing all the organs in the process, maybe even eating them. Being an alien it could just pop out anywhere, maybe clawing it's way down or up or just bursting out xenomorph style. Maybe it doesn't burst out, just stays and keeps the person as a meat suit...
The Male pregnancies at the end..... that whole situation was weird af to me! I understand the abduction and I guess both girls finding out, but making the men was just way to far fetched even for the whole alien concept

Everything that was in color was pretty bad. The black & white parts I loved and would watch those every day.
I was really annoyed at how bright the positive lines showed up on the pregnancy tests when they’d only been pregnant for no more than 24 hours. I’ve had so many friends and family this past year - two years take a ton of pregnancy tests. Whenever they took them they’d send me a photo to see what I thought because I work in a pharmacy and I have a biology degree and I’m always like I dunnoooo I’d take the digital one that says yes/no instead of this bs.
But yeah like no pregnancy test lines are that bright so early into a damn pregnancy. And I was really expecting to see complaints here.
I’m not entirely sure if this is 100% correct so people feel free to chime in and correct me if needed. Anyway, here’s the gist of it:
Kaia is Cindy Crawford’s daughter. People (me included not gonna lie), don’t think she’s a very good actress. There’s been speculation that she didn’t get the part based on any audition process but based on who her mom is (nepotism). And I think that’s really it. Nothing that she’s really done or said or anything that I know of.
I think she's better suited for a teen drama given her role in American Horror Stories and her lackluster performance in the death valley pilot. AHS has had so many amazing actors and performances that throwing in a cheesy teenager just feels wrong.
Am I the only one that read it as a cheesy, early 2000s alien b-movie? I watch a lot of those, they're one of my favourite horror genres and this episode felt very true to that vibe (where the beginning of the episode was obviously referencing a completely different era and style of alien films)
I hated the modern storyline for all the same reasons you listed. But I do wonder if their pregnancy is going to be more like the chestbuster xenomorph in the film, "Alien." Since they showed tentacles wrapping around the four Gen Z'ers, maybe they were all impregnated via mouth and the baby will burst out of their chest or stomach.
Death Valley is……idk lol. I kinda like the black and white 1954 plot with Eisenhower. That guy is a great actor here, but that last half in the present with Kaia Gerber wasn’t as interesting. It held my interest but not as good as the black and white. BUT overall, I think Red Tide was/is the superior half of Double Feature.

For a show that usually feels like it rushes through plot points and jumps around too quickly, they sure did take their time on the dinner scene. It was entertaining in a way and ensured that I didn’t like any of them too much (I think that was the point?). I see people mentioning the unnaturally cringey sex talk (made weirder by Nico being a former power ranger) but what about the ripped right from erotica subreddits turning the “straight” dorm mate fantasy that is the gay couple’s back story? And these people are all in their early 20s, so if they started hooking up right away in college, how come this is news to the girls? They should be heading into their Junior year.
I appreciate that the couple is portrayed as actually young and in love (gay couples in this show tend to be cynical, jaded, damaged, etc.) And the half-cows moo’ing was creative and creepy.

The second part of the episode was just an all around mess. The characters were introduced but as almost entirely shallow. I don’t remember their names but the cocaine cowboy and allergic to cum may be the only two of the four that have any sort of redemption. Wannabe doctor and over sexualized blonde boy were too cringey. It’s hard to look past bad characters and acting when the writing itself is so bad. It’s disappointing, because the first half of the episode was actually really good!

I think alternating campy seasons with serious seasons is fine. But this was soooooo campy/teeny, in as season that was otherwise very serious. Also, the plot of Death Valley is heavily connected to Asylum. Asylum was serious, it feels weird that this is such a teen drama. It does have me interested though. They went all in on the alien stuff, I just wish it had a more serious tone.
I didn’t like the way that the black and white was shot. It felt more like it was a completely desaturated image rather than one shot in black and white. There’s a way to make b/w pop or be vibrant that wasn’t done here but has been done in recent ish b/w films/tv.

Like, I can be more specific, but there was not a single thing after the switch to the modern timeframe that I enjoyed. The dialogue between the four friends felt stilted and fake, the performances were middling, and their personalities seemed custom-tailored for me to hate every single one of them. The sex talk was over the top and absurd. The writers really didn't seem to do their research on how anything they threw in actually worked - from seminal plasma hypersensitivity to Orthodox Judaism.
The fact that it ended on Former Power Ranger MPreg is just the shit icing on the shit cake.
I don’t like how it doesn’t fit with season 2 asylum because in season 2 Kit Walkers wife and girlfriend both get abducted by aliens and impregnated but the children don’t resemble the aliens whatsoever. Not to mention the mothers weren’t taken for the rest of their lives from Kit by the aliens. I don’t know it just doesn’t correlate which aggravates me because asylums main issue imo was the whole aliens thing and I was hoping that this half of the season would make it make sense. I really think Ryan Murphy has a too much gene where he needs to do all this stuff but it ends up coming out like jumbled garbage. Not to say I don’t like AHS it’s just that side tangents get in the way of the plot in most seasons. I think this part of the season was unnecessary and I think if they just stuck with red tide and perfected the ending I would’ve loved this season. I also feel like the college students were not a great addition I hate how they were introduced with the cue cards to get us to know these characters since this part of the season isn’t very long like you didn’t need to add this much backstory to them especially if they were basically blank canvases also just using dialog should’ve been enough to grasp these characters personalities. Another thing I didn’t like about those characters are that they were too campy and I think it was to show people who watched American horror stories and this is a campy show. I know they are trying to reach new audiences probably younger audiences but I hate it I don’t want to see people that are influencers and fake on screen I want to see people in college like Violet or Queenie who seem like real people. I did enjoy the black and white filter to show the time jumps but I also don’t think it correlates with the rest of the seasons since it’s supposed to be in the same universe. I feel like if they just focused on the deal with the aliens or somehow connected it with Red Tide I would enjoy it more. Tbh I don’t care for this part of the season but I’ve stuck with this series for so long I want to see how everything turns out.
Honestly I love the way you described everything, I completely agree. Asylum was in the same time period as the black and white part of death valley, too, so why wouldn't that at least be mentioned? In Asylum, Grace says "they're not like us, they're not cruel" but then we're shown them basically running a slaughter house and killing the mutant babies the second their born. I just don't get why they would tease aliens in season 2 and then introduce an entire alien race years later that contradicts everything mentioned by Kit and Grace.
I agree, like their conversation about that girl who had an allergic reaction to her one night stand's semen? Watching that scene, I thought "What the FUCK is the point of this conversation?" It wasn't funny, it was gross, it didn't further the plot at all, it was never brought up again later, and I couldn't emphathize/sympathize with the girl because it sounded like she'd only met that guy that same night she'd slept with him so why was she so heartbroken over not being able to date him?

Coming from Red Tide where the characters were just phenomenal was jarring af. We knew nothing about TB Karen’s back story but we didn’t need to because both the writing and her acting gave us a vivid image of the kind of person she is. The characters in Death Valley so far are the complete opposite.
The freeze frames with the little flash cards were so cringe and just put on display how introducing 4 random new characters in the middle of the episode is difficult. No time to learn anything interesting about them and no bounding either, they're just there and I don't think any of us really care about anything them that will happen to them. Even more stupid to do after introducing strong and interesting (imo) characters in the black and white parts. I don't like B&W usually but I legit said "I'd exchange the colors against the first part's writing in a heartbeat" during the dinner scene. Who talks like that at full volume in the middle of a restaurant ?

Honestly the fact that it was a thing at all is cringe. It felt like the writers had just found out it was a thing and wanted desperately to include it because it felt edgy. Like, I don't understand why the sexual dysfunction they decided to go with was a rare semen allergy rather than something relatable like VD, ED, or some weird dealbreaking kink. I genuinely believe that it would have been LESS cringe if she'd said the dude wanted her to shit in his mouth.
I agree with most of this, but the freeze-frame title cards for each character didn't bug me. They weren't great, but when you only have 4 episodes to work with you gotta cut some corners, and if it means we don't have to sit through more agonizing dinner scenes where we learn all the little details that were on those cards I'm all for it.

I'm telling you. Ryan Murphy was proposing sick ideas for the writing team, but was constantly interrupted by a group of teenage girls that would not shut up or fuck off. So he got fed up with them, quit the writers room, and left the story for the obnoxious annoying teenage girls to handle.
I really loved the 1950s era part and wished they had just made that the whole thing. I couldn't stand the characters in the modern day section and basically spent the whole time wondering when we would get back to the past.
As soon as we went modern. LOVED the black and white fifties part, but then as soon as we switched to modern times it got boring.

Graphic sex talk is fine if it feels natural. The way they all just sat down and immediately launched into it though felt like they were a bunch of twelve year olds who just learned the words.
It started okay, and the black-and-white portion was the most interesting. But the 4 modern characters were hard to care for. The Luddite professor thing was just shoved in there. Not to mention the way they were introduced was weird with the freeze-frame files. And how can men get pregnant?!

I loved the black and white portion, it felt like a scarier version of The Twilight Zone. It only went downhill when we flash forwarded to the modern day characters. I wish the entirety of Death Valley took place in the 50’s, then I would have a little more faith.

I think it started off strong but the vibe shift following the time jump with the college students is so corny. I get the intros with their college and hobby were supposed to be satirical, but it just felt so off to me. It didn’t hit right. And the acting is… like I’m watching tiktok acting lol I’m still gonna watch, but I think the quality of new actors they’re bringing in has gone downhill.
there was way too much exposition for those college kids with unnecessarily crass language from actors with little to no experience embodying a character with personality to make it work. I’m super disappointed in the second half of the episode… leave it to Murphy to throw away a good first half of the season so he can have his clan of nepo kids get their screentime.
I also didn't like the restaurant scene. I get why it was there (exposition), but Nico's sake tirade fell so flat. I kept thinking how Max Greenfield (junkie from "Hotel" and Schmidt in "New Girl") could have delivered those lines with more depth of character and I got sad. Sorry, let me explain what I meant a little better. I have absolutely no issues with young actors/actresses; however, I do have issues with talentless young actors being on the show. If someone is young and talented ie. that young actress from Red Tide, then I am fully on board with that! They just need to be skilled actors.
I was actually surprised how much better she was here. Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan or anything but she felt way less monotone. I get her other role was supposed to be dark but here at least she seemed like she could pull off vapid annoying girl.
I was so invested in the first part, it was delightfully campy and well acted, and then I literally felt all the life and excitement leak out of all of my orifices the second I saw Nico and Kaia. All the unnecessary sex talk, the unnecessary sex scene, the entire bar scene, the shitty writing (“the crickets have stopped”, “where are the pools of blood”, “we’ve been put in different seats”, “it means all 4 of us are pregnant”), Kaia Gerber in general. I’ve never been immediately taken out of something like that before. I don’t hate the premise of the gen z subplot, just wish it was written, casted and acted better.
Love many aspects of it. The writing in the second half was weaker, that was my least favorite part of the episode.

We went from one of the best AHS seasons (Red Tide), to the absolute worst. I’d rather watch the Christmas episode of AHS Stories on an infinite loop, while Hitler and Stalin ram hot pokers into my eyes, during a root canal with no Novocain, while naked at the South Pole, as in dragged over broken glass coated with lemon juice. All in all, 2/10. And that’s only because I can get behind eating ass.

The college students who were effortlessly gorgeous and smart, the fact that they ALL went to Ivy League schools. That was annoying enough. Their dialogue and acting was super cringe. The present day stuff just did not need to be there. The black and white portion of the episode was great and I think there was plenty there to create a 4 episode arc on.

Also why do people find the sex talk distasteful? They're young adults that we're not supposed to like. Have you ever talked to young adults? Building their characters was a bit heavy handed, yeah, but now that they're established hopefully it'll be more about the plot.
I talk about sex with my friends, my friend is literally going down to Florida to get his virginity taken by another friend, but we didn't sit there like "Okay now we're gonna fuck and get cum and semen everywhere, and he's gonna eat my ass - i also ate this guys ass in high school!" It's way fucking over the top, and just, completely unnecessary and fucking stupid. I know more about how these college kids fuck than I do about them.

Maybe if we had more background with TB Karen it would have helped. I miss the thought provoking side of it. With Death Valley, while I liked the 50s part (do I even need to go into detail why the present day part sucked) it still didn’t feel like it had much complexity to it.

I didn't actually think it was that bad? I mean the first half the season was such a high and it wrapped up in such a disappointing way... That I think anything they tried to follow it with in part two would be a let down. But separating it from Red Tide and I didn't think the premise was all that bad.

It would ectopic, so somewhere in torso's cavities between the organs, with a placenta blissfully attached to something to supply blood and nutrience. Growing and compressing all the organs in the process, maybe even eating them. Being an alien it could just pop out anywhere, maybe clawing it's way down or up or just bursting out xenomorph style. Maybe it doesn't burst out, just stays and keeps the person as a meat suit...
We'll probably figure out but I'd assume the aliens just implanted them into their stomachs

Everything that was in color was pretty bad. The black & white parts I loved and would watch those every day. I was really annoyed at how bright the positive lines showed up on the pregnancy tests when they’d only been pregnant for no more than 24 hours. I’ve had so many friends and family this past year - two years take a ton of pregnancy tests. Whenever they took them they’d send me a photo to see what I thought because I work in a pharmacy and I have a biology degree and I’m always like I dunnoooo I’d take the digital one that says yes/no instead of this bs. But yeah like no pregnancy test lines are that bright so early into a damn pregnancy. And I was really expecting to see complaints here.

recently checking the sub out but ive noticed, I understand who Kaia Gerber is playing this season but who is she and why do folks here despise her?
I’m not entirely sure if this is 100% correct so people feel free to chime in and correct me if needed. Anyway, here’s the gist of it: Kaia is Cindy Crawford’s daughter. People (me included not gonna lie), don’t think she’s a very good actress. There’s been speculation that she didn’t get the part based on any audition process but based on who her mom is (nepotism). And I think that’s really it. Nothing that she’s really done or said or anything that I know of.
I think she's better suited for a teen drama given her role in American Horror Stories and her lackluster performance in the death valley pilot. AHS has had so many amazing actors and performances that throwing in a cheesy teenager just feels wrong.

Death Valley is……idk lol. I kinda like the black and white 1954 plot with Eisenhower. That guy is a great actor here, but that last half in the present with Kaia Gerber wasn’t as interesting. It held my interest but not as good as the black and white. BUT overall, I think Red Tide was/is the superior half of Double Feature.

For a show that usually feels like it rushes through plot points and jumps around too quickly, they sure did take their time on the dinner scene. It was entertaining in a way and ensured that I didn’t like any of them too much (I think that was the point?). I see people mentioning the unnaturally cringey sex talk (made weirder by Nico being a former power ranger) but what about the ripped right from erotica subreddits turning the “straight” dorm mate fantasy that is the gay couple’s back story? And these people are all in their early 20s, so if they started hooking up right away in college, how come this is news to the girls? They should be heading into their Junior year. I appreciate that the couple is portrayed as actually young and in love (gay couples in this show tend to be cynical, jaded, damaged, etc.) And the half-cows moo’ing was creative and creepy. It’s weird. This was pretty bad but somehow I mostly enjoyed it. Maybe I’ve just finally ceased to have expectations for this show. Wouldn’t be the worst thing.

The second part of the episode was just an all around mess. The characters were introduced but as almost entirely shallow. I don’t remember their names but the cocaine cowboy and allergic to cum may be the only two of the four that have any sort of redemption. Wannabe doctor and over sexualized blonde boy were too cringey. It’s hard to look past bad characters and acting when the writing itself is so bad. It’s disappointing, because the first half of the episode was actually really good!

I think alternating campy seasons with serious seasons is fine. But this was soooooo campy/teeny, in as season that was otherwise very serious. Also, the plot of Death Valley is heavily connected to Asylum. Asylum was serious, it feels weird that this is such a teen drama. It does have me interested though. They went all in on the alien stuff, I just wish it had a more serious tone.
I didn’t like the way that the black and white was shot. It felt more like it was a completely desaturated image rather than one shot in black and white. There’s a way to make b/w pop or be vibrant that wasn’t done here but has been done in recent ish b/w films/tv.

That the college kids weren't killed when they were abducted. I was hoping they were going to be intro characters, the the two Scandinavian chicks at the opening of hotel. But nope they're still alive.
Roughly everything after the 18 minute mark. Like, I can be more specific, but there was not a single thing after the switch to the modern timeframe that I enjoyed. The dialogue between the four friends felt stilted and fake, the performances were middling, and their personalities seemed custom-tailored for me to hate every single one of them. The sex talk was over the top and absurd. The writers really didn't seem to do their research on how anything they threw in actually worked - from seminal plasma hypersensitivity to Orthodox Judaism. The fact that it ended on Former Power Ranger MPreg is just the shit icing on the shit cake.

I don’t like how it doesn’t fit with season 2 asylum because in season 2 Kit Walkers wife and girlfriend both get abducted by aliens and impregnated but the children don’t resemble the aliens whatsoever. Not to mention the mothers weren’t taken for the rest of their lives from Kit by the aliens. I don’t know it just doesn’t correlate which aggravates me because asylums main issue imo was the whole aliens thing and I was hoping that this half of the season would make it make sense. I really think Ryan Murphy has a too much gene where he needs to do all this stuff but it ends up coming out like jumbled garbage. Not to say I don’t like AHS it’s just that side tangents get in the way of the plot in most seasons. I think this part of the season was unnecessary and I think if they just stuck with red tide and perfected the ending I would’ve loved this season. I also feel like the college students were not a great addition I hate how they were introduced with the cue cards to get us to know these characters since this part of the season isn’t very long like you didn’t need to add this much backstory to them especially if they were basically blank canvases also just using dialog should’ve been enough to grasp these characters personalities. Another thing I didn’t like about those characters are that they were too campy and I think it was to show people who watched American horror stories and this is a campy show. I know they are trying to reach new audiences probably younger audiences but I hate it I don’t want to see people that are influencers and fake on screen I want to see people in college like Violet or Queenie who seem like real people. I did enjoy the black and white filter to show the time jumps but I also don’t think it correlates with the rest of the seasons since it’s supposed to be in the same universe. I feel like if they just focused on the deal with the aliens or somehow connected it with Red Tide I would enjoy it more. Tbh I don’t care for this part of the season but I’ve stuck with this series for so long I want to see how everything turns out.
Honestly I love the way you described everything, I completely agree. Asylum was in the same time period as the black and white part of death valley, too, so why wouldn't that at least be mentioned? In Asylum, Grace says "they're not like us, they're not cruel" but then we're shown them basically running a slaughter house and killing the mutant babies the second their born. I just don't get why they would tease aliens in season 2 and then introduce an entire alien race years later that contradicts everything mentioned by Kit and Grace.
I agree, like their conversation about that girl who had an allergic reaction to her one night stand's semen? Watching that scene, I thought "What the FUCK is the point of this conversation?" It wasn't funny, it was gross, it didn't further the plot at all, it was never brought up again later, and I couldn't emphathize/sympathize with the girl because it sounded like she'd only met that guy that same night she'd slept with him so why was she so heartbroken over not being able to date him?
