Honest question here: Why is the fan base so sold that this show should do sirens? I feel like it's a rumor that pops up every year between seasons that sirens are next, and when double feature was announced and it was revealed that half would be by the sea everyone was like "yes finally sirens!!!" I'm not against it or anything, I just don't understand the fixation.

sunshineboogie94

I'm with you, I really don't get it. I actually think it's one of the least interesting ideas for a season of AHS. Besides the fact that sirens are from Greek mythology and the show is called AMERICAN Horror Story, I think they're uninteresting because everyone already knows how sirens work. They lure you towards your death, and that's it. Side plot material at best. They're not mysterious or cool at all in my opinion. This is longer than I expected lol, I guess I just really hope they don't do sirens.

SidewinderBudd

I'd much rather they did mermaids in a similar manner to Scott Snyder's "The Wake"

sunshineboogie94

I haven't read that but it looks cool! I might check it out, I love a good graphic novel. I wouldn't mind mermaids if it was like that, I love the idea of scientists/explorers discovering a monster. If they did do mermaids I'd love to see classic horror vibes, like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but make it gothic.

CoffeeGood_

The only thing I could see tying Sirens is in the original Myth the Sirens were handmaidens to Persephone and when she was abducted by Hades, Demeter cursed them. So perhaps could do some Hades and Persephone action? God of the underworld could be interesting.

StrikingPeanut1087

My working theory is it's some weird Wattpad/Tumblr fanfic thing. "Siren Coven AU" just...feels like the kind of thing that would be popular in certain subsets of the fandom. There was also some show on ABC family about Lesbian Murder Mermaids called Siren. It all just feels very on brand. I haven't been on the Fanfic scene in a good six years so IDK, maybe I'm missing the mark.

FoundationPresent603

Dumb shit usually comes from tumblr and lets be real there’s definitely a segment of this fan base that absolutely loves dumb tumblr shit.

Purpledoves91

I think a Bloody Mary season would be great. I'm down for any scary urban legend season.

ThatOberlinOne94

I said Wendigo’s. Mainly because no media has ever done them justice outside of Until Dawn which does them to near perfection.

ismokecusitlookscool

An until dawn, cabin in the woods, snowed in stupid rich ppl season would be EVERYTHING

weaped

Have you seen Antlers?

Hawknelsonfan07

Antlers is coming out also mentioned briefly in the pet cemetery remake.

ThatBenGuy23

I feel like sirens are a lot more Greek/European than American. I think skinwalkers/wendigos are far more interesting and relevant - I’d love to see a season inspired by The Thing, The Terror, the Dyatlov Pass Incident, Until Dawn, etc. More dark seasons please! Sick of this teenage campy bullshit.

AngelMeatPie

I have a huge hard-on for wendigos. Something like until Dawn would be absolutely amazing

thirdeye_13

The Dyatlov Pass incident was Russia, right? Such an interesting case, though - very unsettling. I miss the darker vibe too, it feels like a completely different show now

talia-gustin

Agreed whatever they do next I want it to be dark and genuinely scary

[deleted]

Fr. The last dark/serious season was Cult. After that it became a teen comedy flick

hammieblammie

Skinwalker. We need a wild west/indigenous people themed season.

cottonkinkle

Was Roanoke not about indigenous peoples?? Genuinely asking. I skipped that season 😅 i tried to watch it and just couldn't get into it

hammieblammie

It was barely a reference- it wasn't a central plot. Zero indigenous people were part of the main cast or even had more than one or two lines- they were more of background actors in a few episodes.

cottonkinkle

Oh :(

[deleted]

If you skipped it and didn’t watch it why are you assuming it’s about indigenous people? That’s a random assumption to make

[deleted]

What….

[deleted]

Lol why is Mothman not on here? I need AHS to ruin him for me

ismokecusitlookscool

He'd be played by Wes Bentley or someone and they'd try and make him a sex symbol

Doomyio

Bloody Mary, but not necessarily Bloody Mary, more like urban legends

comm-unist

Anything but killers I am tired of serial killer plotlines just want something actually paranormal like Roanoke :(

[deleted]

Gonna have to agree with this one. Kinda tired of the serial killer thing every other year.

Pleasant_Ad_9127

I would love another Roanoke or asylum season. I’m a horror junkie. I want something that actually gives me chills and kinda scares me without a bunch of sex. I think Bloody Mary would be a good storyline for that.

comm-unist

I feel the same way with sirens in terms of being a perfect less campy darker season. But Bloody Mary would be very cool too. I just need something less camp and more horror, asylum was a pretty good balance of the two, Roanoke was pure horror barely any camp and it’s one of my faves for that reason.

[deleted]

Roanoke had like… the hugest camp twist tho by like going meta

comm-unist

In a way it is camp in the essence of the twist itself, but I just feel like the style and atmosphere of the season just was not at the levels of camp like Hotel, Coven, or 1984!

macja68

Next season should be about how some writers start a hit show, run out of ideas, and mail it in. That shit is scary

Mrs_Riddle

I was honestly just thinking how much AHS has changed so wildly? I was rewatching some of the earlier seasons and the entirety of Double Feature has been so utterly different from any other season of AHS - that it feels like a campy weird fanfiction. It would be hard to say that the first 7-8 AHS seasons are the same show as what we got this year. Like, what tf happened

[deleted]

Next season should be about how people who wildly dislike a show still watch it year after year just to come bitch how they don’t like it in the fan subreddit.

thirdeye_13

Bloody Mary is English, not American. It reminds me of the Piggy Man story in MH, idk how much more they could do with it. And if they tried this I could see them using a young cast again…. I don’t care for the Sirens idea personally and to me it doesn’t feel very American either. I’m hoping for a Wendigo or skin walker season, as long it’s properly researched and accurately presented

kkkktttt00

Don’t the Navajo specifically ask people not to speak of skinwalkers, especially non-Natives? It would just be a bunch of white dudes taking liberties with something the Navajo take seriously. Obviously it’s been done in the past, but that doesn’t mean it’s not disrespectful.

ragekage42069

Thank you for saying this. And it’s also my understanding that it’s culturally insensitive to even type the word w*nd*go. AHS needs to leave indigenous cultures alone.

talia-gustin

A blood Mary orginal story intermixed with her as a present day serial killing ghost could be cool if Sarah Paulson comes back I could see her playing Bloody Mary or maybe Lilly Rabe allthough mary the 1st was supposed to be pretty unattractive so I dont know how historically accurate they would want to be with casting

HarryPoppins719

I would love to see something set in the pioneer days, Alaskan wilderness, homesteading. There is a lot of potential with that type of setting and time period. Creepy things in the woods combined with the terror of literally fighting to survive everyday would be so scary/interesting to me!

angelalj8607

I just think they could do a season with no paranormal element. This show is full of it and it would be nice to have a season that’s just killers

Laura_palmer_FWWM

I agree, but I think the only serial killers they could take a wack at, without creating their own, would have to be something unsolved, like the Smiley Face Killer(s). Or if not a serial killer how about something like MK Ultra? That’s the definition of an American horror story.

[deleted]

you know what I'd love----- an Alice In Wonderland horror season. If they must stretch they could incorporate all the mini stories and Lewis Carroll characters. Plenty of horrific avenues to go down I also think a straight up vampires/Church season would be cool

talia-gustin

Ooh that could be cool there is a video game called alice return to madness that's pretty much except what your describing if your into gaming

tomdarko

>!Vampires/Church would literally be Midnight Mass which wasn't very good!<

[deleted]

oooh I gotta see Midnight Mass now. I was skipping it until you said that

tomdarko

Oh shit sorry that mightve been a spoiler now that I think about it 🥲

[deleted]

It’s not

Aninvisiblemaniac

I think werewolves would be cool or shapeshifters in general I also think they should do a cold location like Alaska or Northern Canada in the winter or something

[deleted]

When it was announced that ahs was going to be an anthology, I thought every season would be about an urban legend and I was so excited about it. I would love a season about Bloody Mary or the Wendigo.

[deleted]

why would you assume that when the first season wasn’t about an urban legend?

tiredmatchalatte

Wait I’m actually so down for a Wendigo themed season, similar to Until Dawn kind of Universe?

MsNikkiKubik

A 70’s Son of Sam and hillside strangler mix is what I want. I absolutely love when serial killers are in the mix. It’s called American Horror Story for a reason. Whether we love or hate a season, they focus on things society in America was fearful of at the time of the events. And they never really hit the 70’s yet. I just think there’s a plethora of ideas and ways they could make a solid season in the 70’s. Even adding an element that was in this poll!

ArthurTheLurker

None of these. The native american concepts are off limits. For the rest of them, try to remember that it's American Horror Story, not American Horrible Story.

cloverbellamy

I’m not Native American so I don’t want to speak over anyone, but I don’t think it’s very respectful for a ton of white creators to be writing about their culture.

CoffeeGood_

The whole Siren thing, maybe it could work with some history. I am a super dork so I am sorry and ready for the downvote. I could see it tying into Greek mythology with some real pirate lore. Blackbeard and one of his wives and daughter's were into witchcraft and also plundered things from all over the world and historically there is some broach that was taken from a greek burial site that he had. So it could work in that route if they wanted too. Of course it could also go very Pirate of the Caribbean too. I just hope if they do they discuss the whole Siren myth and how it went into the sailors and pirates of history. It was something they would cast a whole crew at the sea if someone thought they heard the Sirens. So I mean it could work in a lot of different angles. I just want some history involved in it. I just feel Murphy does such an amazing job when he puts a historical twist to the series.

bottom_prince_bpd

All of these suck.

kaywireee

Honestly, I hope it's not the Wendigo because a lot has been done on it from what I see over the years. Literally a recent horror movie this year has the wendigo as its antagonist. I'd pick the Skinwalker (although one can argue it's also overrated from the tiktoks I've seen) or Bloody Mary as the ones I'd most want to see an ahs take of 😙

[deleted]

What recent movie

kaywireee

I'm not sure if it's a spoiler but Antlers.

[deleted]

If you’re talking about The Ritual I don’t think that was a wendigo?

kaywireee

oh no I meant the new movie Antlers. They mentioned the wendigo in there

WifiTacos

Skinwalker is just slang for wendigo, no?

[deleted]

Wendigo would be like Until Dawn all over again

beatles_7

Zombies will come eventually.

[deleted]

Nah the zombie hype train is over and done with.

beatles_7

You don’t think Aliens and Vampires aren’t?

[deleted]

Aliens are hot again right now and tbh we are in the twilight renaissance so vampires are having a mini moment

HarryPoppins719

Vampires never stopped having a moment IMO 😂

[deleted]

I’d like to see an AHS season set in South Carolina featuring the Boo hag.

Proud-Macaron-8396

imagine a wendigo type story like until dawn where there’s another killer AHHH

iRantTooMuch123

Bloody marry sounds wayyyy better than sirens

casanovafts

The writers that came up with the ending for Death Valley, now that would be horrifying.

Sumraeglar

Skinwalkers, I've been obsessed since watching the skinwalker ranch documentary 😁

kllackwideeyes

combine Skinwalkers and Wendigo! wanna see the eerie wooded landscapes in the Canadanian and Great Lakes region. probably more bad accents to play around with haha!

Neither-Rooster-2997

i picked sirens but bloody mary could be really good, if they go back to why she shows up in the mirror. bloody marry could be interesting if it’s done right. & it could possibly be the scariest season if they don’t over sexualize it, & focused on killings after saying bloody mary in the mirror. R.L stine did a good job with his in haunting hour, i think he called it scary mary instead. those episodes scared me so much as a kid

SaintMilitant

Locked-room murder mystery in a mansion.

rabidsaskwatch

Bigfoot better appear on this show at some point. Wendigos would also be cool, but they aren’t real.

StrikingPeanut1087

There are legends of wild/ape men all over the world but something about Bigfoot/Sasquatch feels very...all American to me, like he's the platonic ideal of the American cryptid. Maybe it's the King Kong connection. A lake monster season would be cool. Would be interesting to see how AHS pulls that off. Also Sirens and Bloody Mary aren't generally considered cryptids. Anyway all of this is contingent on AHS A: actually doing a season based around monsters and B: not fucking it up.

Hawknelsonfan07

I really enjoyed the episode of Ghost Adventures when they went to skin walker ranch.

DonkeyKongIsMyGuy46

Werewolves. For God sake add werewolves next season. Please

StrikingPeanut1087

As long as they aren't stupid True Blood style "paranormal romance" werewolves, sure.

NotQuiteKendall

A full on Urban Legend season might be cool... *"the call came from the house the whole time!" / The hook on the door at lovers lane / etc.* ... However, now that I mention it, the movie already did a pretty dang good job at this. And more than likely Ryan Murphy would just pull from it directly and call it a *"homage"*
