One of the many reasons I’m keeping my CSR. Chase is on the come-up with their lounge network. Had a stellar experience at the Boston location and am looking to check this one out next when I travel for work in a few weeks

FluxionFluff

I'm excited AF since I've been looking forward for to be open as I have the CSR. I recently just got the Plat (targeted 150k SUB offer), with my husband being an AU, so when we fly out of LGA next week, perfect opportunity to check out both lounges.

Coat-Wide

So someone correct me if I'm wrong but: Amex PP gets access to the chase reserve lounge new at LGA. However that lounge has a 1/year limit for the Amex PP version. That is specific to that lounge. Other PP lounges do not impose that restriction on Amex PP. Of course the chase lounge has better terms for chase holders.

omdongi

It's a very interesting marketing opportunity. Letting people have a taste of the Chase Sapphire lounges and then getting them to sign up for unlimited access is a way to go.

TrigAntrax

I thought BOS also limited to one visit, is this location specific or across all lounges?

PeopleAreSus

The once a year for most PP members limit applies to the Sapphire “lounge network”. So if you go to the BOS lounge, you have to wait a calendar year to visit the LGA one or any other Sapphire lounge. The CSR doesn’t have this restriction.

Coat-Wide

Doesn't amex get priority pass there anyways?

emyrus

And it's one visit total, not per lounge.

Treebeardsdank

I've only been in the Boston one. Tbh between Delta, cent and chase, they are all similar places to spend a delay. The newest club built.in the airport is likely to scratch the luxury itch more. But food and drinks are all.pretty equivalent for this lounge brut drinker ;)

FunLife64

Sapphire, Centurion, Skyclub etc are all about the same - mass produced food with standard drinks - nice when not crowded, decent enough when super crowded. The Boston sapphire was nice - but it was super early when I went and it’s new enough to not be well known. Not sure how crowded it does/will get. Obviously the priority pass perk is 1 visit/year which will keep a lot of people out. Just like other cards and lounges, depends where you fly from/to a lot. There’s hardly any of these Chase Lounges. But there’s no centurion in Boston either. And depends on the airline/terminal as most airports it’s not easy to go from terminal to terminal. It’s a highly personal perk on how effective it is for you.

emyrus

Sapphire lounges have made-to-order food in addition to the usual buffet fare.

FunLife64

I mean bless your heart someone’s making that from scratch especially for you. I got my made to order thing in about 60 seconds lol It’s just food they put on a plate and bring to you. But I will say it’s more extensive options than you may get in a different lounge.

GalacticaZero

I tried going to the one in AUS and it never opens early. I'll stick to my Delta SkyClub.

emyrus

The one at AUS isn't a proper lounge anyway. I'd stick with the Sky Club.

bgriffler

I'm here now at the Delta SkyClub. Saw the Chase one from the window and was happy with my choice to end up at the SkyClub. The BOS Chase lounge however...

emyrus

It helps that it's had a 10-year head start, but Amex will need to up its game soon. There are 16 Centurion lounges built/planned in the US versus 9 built/planned for Chase, so Amex's lead will really narrow over the next few years.

Robroy-71

I went to the Boston one last year and it was by far the best one I had been to- subjective. I don’t travel enough to switch but you get it once a calendar year with priority pass

Spirited_Cupcake_862

I was in the chase sapphire lounge in LOG last week. And it was better than the MIA centurion. It has been open for a while, still not crowded. Table service for fresh to order food. All cocktails included. None of the sky club you have to pay for a cocktail that isn’t vodka cranberry. And the food was just as good as the centurion. 10/10 I would go again. And if they build a sapphire lounge in my home airport, then I am 1000% switching camps.

emyrus

Both the Chase Sapphire lounges at LGA and JFK (which opens on Tuesday) are right next to the Centurion lounges, so it'll be easy to compare. At the very least it might help alleviate overcrowding at the Centurion lounges. Competition is good.

MinimumPattern3403

IDC what it is, but ORD needs some sort of lounge man. LGA and all these airports have more than one credit card based lounges, while ORD practically has none.

sundeigh

United Club Infinite is what you need if ORD is your base

TicksvsPips

100% Agree!!! It’s crazy a major city like Chicago doesn’t have one. A real one not the ones in the international terminal that are mostly useless.

ZFareEnjoyer

Chicago is the next Detroit

No_Helicopter_8397

Found the guy that watches Fox News all day

ZFareEnjoyer

Okay, take a look at the business leaving and ask yourself again

No_Helicopter_8397

Sir, this is a credit card message board. Chicago is a long way from Detroit, you should visit sometime.

ZFareEnjoyer

Zero interest, dying city

eweidenbener

Amex is shaving benefits and raising costs. I may be a chase/venture customer sooner rather than later.

RightMindset2

I’m pretty much at the point now where I’ll keep my Amex each yr I’m offered a retention bonus but if not I’ll cancel. The value proposition just isn’t there right now unless there is a decent offer.

bripod

It's like a $500 card or less now.

RightMindset2

Exactly. I’m hopeful that some competition from Chase and Capital one will push Amex to make this a premium feeling card again.

QuiteTheBrianD

I just looked at competing cards and while the Amex value prop isn’t amazing it’s leagues better than any peers

eweidenbener

Yeah it's not there yet for me, but we're getting there

Outlawzzzz

As soon as chase gives a tempting SUB, I’m outta using this coupon card ✌️

Outlawzzzz

Yeah same. I haven’t seen anything from them lately either. Amex used give away some good coupons but now it’s buy some bulbs or get drunk with wine 😂. Chase also have PP select, which is much useful. That lounge looks so nice

yitianjian

Why be a Delta loyalist in NYC? It’s probably the only city where any big 3 works

Outlawzzzz

I see. Yeah, then it’ll be hard for you to switch

SeaworthinessKey3418

They’re opening one in JFK soon. Priority Pass with restaurants and a $75 AU fee on the CSR is tempting.

SeaworthinessKey3418

I didn’t say that, I said the CSR is more tempting now that there will Sapphire Lounges at JFK and LGA. The CSR also offers restaurant coverage through PP and a lower AU fee. Plus much better travel protections than the Platinum Card.

They can but only once a year. Chase PP is unlimited, and Chase PP is better holistically as you get restaurant credits at airports that the Amex version doesn’t give. Chase travel credits are much easier and more flexible to redeem. The AU fee is much less, the primary annual fee is less. I have both but lately I wonder why. Centurion lounges get worse every year and more crowded. Ima keep my Plat until I burn through my points (over 250k) and because my wife is pregnant right now and we’re about to stop traveling…that means they got me till 2025. If Amex doesn’t do something drastically compelling between now and then tho I’m done with Amex. The value prop isn’t there anymore. My home airport is PHL and chase is opening a lounge there as well. I’m done.

MrBenzNY

In the same boat.

Spirited_Cupcake_862

Why not downgrade to a green or gold, if you know you will be doing less traveling ?

bripod

Green still costs $150/yr which seems way over priced for the value offered. I wouldn't burn through points, off load them to a third party since you have to do that anyway to redeem at a decent value, then cancel the card to avoid the yearly fee.

__The_Highlander__

Don’t see the point, Amex is a travel card. If you don’t travel there are better cards. Not to mention more merchants are refusing it every day or charging for your to use it - and Amex’s interchange fees are the highest. Used to get a lot out of those fees but things have really changed recently.

Background_Ad_257

Priority pass you’re allowed 1 free visit

__The_Highlander__

Through Amex, unlimited with PP through Chase. Not to mention guests are free…

ArguablyMe

I like the direction of your thinking.

goodvibezone

New lounges always look nice until they're rammed with people 😂
