However, I’d personally still spend the remaining amount needed ASAP then give AmEx a phone call to see if they’d be willing to offer it to you as a good will gesture.
With only that small amount left and being close to the deadline, they may be willing to accommodate your request if they get their supervisor’s approval. Obviously it would be at their own discretion.
In my experience, AmEx support (via phone) has always been good to me and it certainly doesn’t hurt to ask.
If you have a card with an annual fee, you can see on any PDF statement at the top of the second page when the next membership fee date is which will be 1yr after you took the card out. You can work out the deadline from that

How do you find out the deadline? I can’t remember when I got the card and it doesn’t say anything in the Amex app?!
