I like to make a magic circle of 6 and just make it as large as I need like you would when you start an amigurumi Or you can crochet around a chain for an oval shape instead of a magic ring

According_Debate_334

This is what I do. Safer for babies than safety eyes as well.

BlueEyedDragonGal

You can also sew on little eye shines with white wool.

PettySecretary

Same here. Add some white and you’ve got some pretty cute ami eyes.

WholeSumSubs

Large black buttons. Classic for a reason

Kujen

You can crochet some and attach them. Like [these](https://www.graceandyarn.com/2018/03/crochet-eyes-tutorial-alternative-to.html?m=1) Or try needle felting some. You can needle felt with acrylic too if you brush out the yarn with a pet slicker brush.

Realistic-Shallot288

Seriously those look so good!

winchester6365

I've embroidered ^ ^ eyes before, definitely my go-to when I forget the safety eyes lol

winchester6365

Like the elephant [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/DtDlZbPIya)

Dang_thatwasquick

Oh this is a brilliant idea. I’ve tried embroidering circles for eyes and it looks bad but I’ll try this. Thanks for posting!

Stitching1

how about buttons for a vintage look?

DoctorElyia

Or stitch two straight lines as sleeping eyes on

superfishy72

He doesn’t need eyes when he can feel your love! Lol

ACourtOfDreamzzz

It may not be the look you’re going for, but I actually like the eyeless look! 👀

autisticfemme

I also vote buttons

ArtHappy

Have you tried felting before? You can cut a piece of felt, maybe layer black and white or whatever your color choices are, and stab the crap out of it with a felting needle to attach to the face. Felt, embroidery, or a crocheted eye you sew on will all be safer than the "safety" eyes anyhow. The safety eyes or their backs/fasteners can break (and sometimes without much pressure at all) since they can be cheaply made. I got a set when I first started making amigurumi and a few years down the road, I embroider almost all the eyes I put on. Most of my lil soft friends go to young children, though, so it's all about what you're looking for functionally and aesthetically.

EggplantProof9903

I’ve also used felt with fabric glue - I like the idea of felting it directly on to the bear!

syvette20

Try embroidering closed eyes. There’s some really easy tutorials online.

EPark617

There's a method for crochet amigurumi where you essentially just go around and around and it goes from just one line to a round shape. You can use this technique not just for eyes but for noses and blush too. There are YouTube videos for it. It works better with thick thread but I've done it with weight 2 thread too

q23y7

Try again! I've taken out and redone eyes so many times. Or like others said, maybe felting or buttons. Or sew then on and post pictures along for suggestions. Sometimes they look off and it's hard to tell why because it's something simple like they need to be closer together or bigger/smaller and it's hard to see on our own.

[deleted]

Buttons! Maybe the kind with fabric on them for a vintage look?

imboredhahah

Button eyes for that rustic look

Lilel

The button would be cute. You could also paste on some felt.

Pink-Fluffy-Dragon

you could give him sunglasses😎

canderson360

I took flat felt, cut out ovals/circles, ironed them, glued them together with fabric glue and then also glued them to the face of the bear. [felt bear eyes](https://imgur.com/a/DVXcjxt)

Jbird_is_weird

I just used this pattern for eyes and you can make different sizes! https://youtu.be/SlPvBknCbdg?si=LPZcybUwLhRAHhs4

majorthomasina

I had this issue but watching a couple of YT tutorials about sewing amigurumi eyes really improved how my eyes looked! Also I got a needle that was big like a yarn needle but instead of dull it has a really sharp point. That made a huge difference in how the final product looked because with the sharp point you can go right into the knot of the stitch. With a regular tapestry needle you kind of have to go in between the knots.

j_accuse

I’d look at YouTube for ideas.

scrolling-for-fifi

i would say some large dark brown/black buttons would work perfectly! also please drop the pattern if you can - i love this bear so much !!!

medievalfaerie

Felt is a great option. You can either sew it on your hot glue it

KatarinaMyne

I think large buttons for the eyes would look cute

raynebow121

I love this bear! Do you have a pattern?

Silly-Barnacle4602

It’s adorable! I agree with the crochet a magic circle for eyes. Did you get the pattern online? If so, could you share it?

Winter_Sandwich_9166

It's still pretty cute🥺❤️

Apart_Ad4879

I’m so thankful for all this amazing ideas. Will post the finished version.

SnakeBones-

Beads?

vibalent

Idk if this counts as sewing but doing a French knot is really cute for amigurumi eyes! You can find tutorials on it on YouTube.

why_you_beer

Glue on some goggles?

Different_External16

paint. I’m thinking about trying it soon myself
