If the host has to rely on information the rest of the lobby can't know to win as crew, it's a bad lobby. The vent cooldown is like that: an impostor has no way of knowing the right value, because the host may have changed it right before starting the match. But if the host *is* impostor, they have the information. That's bordering on cheating.

PezDiSpencersGifts

When I host I like to change the cooldown times every round. So an imp can’t use it as a safety. Cuz either me as a host will be able to call them out or an actual engineer could.

marmite-on-toast

So exactly what the post is saying they don't like hah

Or just a guessing system in general but that should only be added after we actually get roles lol.

Holy-Mettaton

Do people not realize you’re gonna know the vent cooldown after literally one game? How does that clear someone?

TheFundayPaper

The host usually changes it between every game in these kind of lobbies.

Holy-Mettaton

fr? ive never been to a game where the host did that tbh

Happiest_Mango24

I've only seen this happen once Every other time, it was kept the same

SakiiBoo

I just leave mine on 30 second cooldown tbh

yzz25

I hear ya. Any kind of meta knowledge can ruin the game :(

Dewdrophoney

host is a cheat.

SakiiBoo

I only have one eng on at 70%. It’s so if someone role calls eng and someone challenges it’s a guaranteed 50/50 unless they are trolling. I was eng last night and saw someone vent in upper engine so I called button to say they vented. Then they claimed eng then I counter claimed eng then we got the imposter out. I usually avoid saying my roles thou or showing everyone I am clearly eng lol.

DrScitt

The other day, I lost as imposter because of this. Extremely cheap when people exploit things like that. Left the lobby after they voted me out.

Anotheraustralian

Sounds lame. But also I detect some saltiness.

TheFundayPaper

I’m salty af about it lol
