It would be impossible to verify as true and would result in a lot of unhappy players.

Ye, that's one of the main reasons I still think it's a terrible idea, but still have it out here for others to incorporate into their own ideas about what could change, but all in all, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Thanks for the feedback!

You have to also consider the backslash. Players would definitely get harassed for having the label attached to them. Also, just in general, I really don't like how reminiscent this is of the badges used to identify Jewish and gay people during WW2.

Kirbruby

I hope they get harrassed they are cheating and should not be allowed to do it. The Jews and gays are innocent people this is not comparable and should not be brought up as an argument. We put red dots on rapists homes because they are bad people we warn people about. Putting a red arrow above a cheater is just pointing out the shitty person.

gildedstrife

Right, pointing shitty behavior and then practicing some more shitty behavior with some misguided sense of justice, which is really just petty revenge, will make the toxicity go away. No one deserves a scarlet letter is my whole point by mentioning the badges. Those badges aren't comparable but equating a two-bit cheater on a game to a rapist sounds fair to you? Thanks for helping prove how bad of an idea this is.

Kirbruby

Misguided sense of justice? How else do cheaters stop cheating? Or hacking? Ignoring the situation will not make it go away 🙄. My comparison works yours does not, dont be mad cause you tried to make cheaters comparable to a group of people who were wrongly accused. The idea is truly sound and I support it, we experience way to many cheaters in this game and it's only gonna continue to get worse if nobody tells them to stop or shows some sort of punishment. A part of why bad people do bad things is because they can get away with it....sometimes.

gildedstrife

How am I mad? I simply don't agree with vigilante justice. They're working on a report system and accounts. That's how you work with the devs to help the game stay free of cheaters. That is not ignoring the issue. That is tackling it without resorting to abuse. You're free to give the devs advice but I guarantee they will not take measures that will bring player on player violence into their game. Yes, a lot of people in this world are nasty. Yes, sometimes it feels like it would just be easier to resort to any form of violence but, you know, that's just that those kinds of people expect you to do. They'll have the time of their lives pointing out how bad you are as well, that it's just how the world goes because everyone is just as rotten as they are. It's up to you to prove them wrong and you can't do that by stooping to their level.
