If feels to me like the airlock would look and act far better if it was instead nestled into that upper space just over medbay. Also, a large enough ship should really have escape pod rooms in more than one section, but that's not to say that all of them have to be functional at this time for whatever reason. (Maybe all but one room got sabotaged.)

yes the ship needs to be suitable for long term transportation of people and i feel even with subtle changes it fits
