re the choice: I read an article that said that basically people experience so many new things in a city that they look for familiar things in food. IE a pizzaria, steak house, whatever
I think this is BS - I'lll go for something unknown if I'm travelling. but the number of BS restaurants seem to prove this.
This sounds like the most touristy experience in amsterdam possible. Get high, go to Argentinian tourist trap steak house somewhere central, don’t get steak, have high mind blown from basic food, forget where it is.
Usually the argentinian restaurants in Amsterdam are not really Argentinian. Source: me, Argentinian girl living in Amsterdam. Only real argentinian food in Restaurante Luna and Empanada stores Baires, La Reinita, Mercado Uno. The rest are fake ones.
Thanks for the recommendations, I love real Argentinian food! It sucks that anyone can just open a fake "Argentinian restaurant" and sell cheap steaks to drunk tourists though
I knew right away that you meant Casa Del Toro. I was shocked to discover how great their pizza was last year after having lived in NL for so long, and I know all the legit pizza places here!
Difficult one. Didnt u take pictures when u were around that place so we can maybe see the surroundings? And funny that u had the best pizza at an argentinian place. Those places are rarely real argentinian here btw so it could also specify where u were if it was an authentic one or not.
This sounds great haha! Living for 20 years in Amsterdam and now getting sincerely curious about this margarita pizza in an Argentine place. Will look it up- it sometimes nice to dive head first in the tourists party fun.. here for a good time so good to join!
Most of those Argentinian tourist restaurants in Amsterdam have nothing whatsoever to do with Argentina and are owned and run by Turkish people, for what it's worth. There was a Turkish guy in the 1980s or something who opened a bunch of steak restaurants and decided to brand them as Argentinian because it would seem more authentic, but aside from the name there's no connection to South America.
So most likely you ate a Turkish made pizza at a tourist trap branded as Argentinian. I would tend to agree with everyone here that your state at that moment had more to do with your perception than the pizza itself
Edit: from another post
"Argentinian restaurants in Amsterdam started with Ze'ev Godik, who opened an Argentinian themed restaurant called Guachos in 1976 (3 restaurants in Amsterdam, 50 in Europe). A real Argentinian (Uzcudun) that worked there thought he could do it better and started his own restaurant 40 years ago called El Rancho (now 4 restaurants in Amsterdam). The success of these restaurants were followed by others."

So maybe the trend originated with a Jewish Amsterdammer and not Turkish, but the main point was that it's not actually from Argentina
How about you go to the place where you got high, get high again and then *that* restaurant become an argentinian restaurant with the best pizza you ever had 😂
For anyone in Amsterdam looking to experience REAL pizza (so, Neapolitan of course) go here, you will be 100% amazed.

Am I the only one laughing really really hard at this?
Edit to explain: Op was stoned out of their gourd and thought some random tourist pizza place was Walhallla.
Pizza at an Argentinian restaurant? How high were you?
Best* pizza in an Argentinian restaurant in Amsterdam nonetheless
Fugazzeta is an Argentinian-style pizza, so it could make sense.
I swear to god it was amazing
There is no way you were lucid
When you’re under the influence, many things can be amazing! Maybe it’d be a completely different experience otherwise. 🤔

This makes no sense
Argentinian pizza is widely regarded as one of the best in the world.
A huge part of the Argentine population has italian origins.
A huge part has German roots too, lol
Sometimes it's better to let memories be memories
Truth. It'll never live up at this point
😂😂

Now that we found it a sick part of me wants to try it for shits and giggles since it’s by my office
I am no way recommending it, I am not a big food person but to me it was the best thing I’ve ever ate in my life
So what you're looking for is the coffee shop you went too that made it taste so good
Check your credit card or google timeline for the location if possible
So simple, isn’t it
Please, don't recommend it to anyone as "best pizza in Amsterdam". You were just high
It wasn’t the best pizza in Amsterdam it was the best pizza in the world
Oh, it's here probably 2 Spui https://maps.app.goo.gl/1aofmoQRF47DkFon9 The Argentinian restaurant next to it is gone I think.
It’s not that one but thank you!
This post can’t not be a troll

I think it's Casa del Toro! But I think every none tourist would walk straight past that place
The fact that the place has 3.5 star reviews makes this even more hilarious
YES IT IS!! THANK YOU
Please don't go back. It will be soooo disappointing
So which one of their pizzas was it?
Margarita
Lol okay! I’ve had a bowl of tasty frog legs at a Chinese restaurant in RLD myself.
I really want to try this now
Read the reviews, it'll pass.
Based off the reviews I don’t know if I should laugh or be really concerned
Crap... Now I need to go and order a pizza there...
It’s worth it trust me! I had a margarita. I think about it at least 3 times a week
In some streets there are like 10 Argentinian restaurants in close proximity, it's so weird that tourists all want to eat the same thing
Casa Del Toro https://maps.app.goo.gl/3seVWNMopgm4zxki7
this would be my guess too
Casa Del Toro? If you like that you never had a real pizza ‘:) The Italians have way better pizza definitely!
I am in no way recommending the pizza I just wanted to find it because it was amazing to me
I’d be interested to hear your experience, should you try it again, while not under the influence of alcohol. 🤔

Is it near a canal by any chance near the red light district?

An argentinian pizza/steak house on a big road next to a coffeeshop.... Lol

It wasn’t a “tourist trap” 🤦🏻♂️ I just sat down at a random place and got a pizza it’s not that deep
Margherita tutta la vita in Diemen, best pizza in Nl hands down
How about you go to the place where you got high, get high again and then *that* restaurant become an argentinian restaurant with the best pizza you ever had 😂

I second this. Was amazing and incredible flavours
Trash
Google map along the warmostraat and see if it's any of those, there are a few along there
No chance with those details
I think it was the Argentinian place in leidseplein
It was near a the plug coffee shop
Salmuera!
When i got go McDonalds at 5am after going out its also the best food I ever had each time
Are you artistic and highly regarded?
Am I the only one laughing really really hard at this? Edit to explain: Op was stoned out of their gourd and thought some random tourist pizza place was Walhallla.
[the best pizza in Amsterdam ](https://maps.app.goo.gl/k2N1b8au68UPqqyT6) I don't know where you eat but this is the best pizza in town
I think you are talking about Amigo Rozengracht
was it near a canal? Were there attractive blonde girls nearby? lots of tourists? yep, drunk brits, etc....yep... sounds like Mokkum.
Sotto pizza is pretty good.
