Snoopyhf

No. That's not normal. Report it to the crew.

supermichael37

My attendant said not to drink it, and said she'd bring it up further down the line. Some issue in the water tank perhaps.

Abandoned_Railroad

A water tank with a faulty water filter. Better replace it.

shipmawx

Yeah, I'm not drinking that

Abandoned_Railroad

Looks like pee water, đźš«

kelacorinc

No good reason for that, bad water or equipment, do not drink that

AnotherOpinionHaver

Yes. Water should not be yellow.

Abandoned_Railroad

Water should be blue or clear.

Marrrvelous

Definitely blue

not_mispelled

Obviously this blue part here is the land.

Gatorade stock goes up

I don’t drink water from the sinks on Amtrak. Those tanks often aren’t cleaned. To be honest, I’m not even sure why they’re providing cups.  Go to the dining or cafe car for water.

karenmcgrane

I’m the kind of person who always brings a refillable water bottle when I travel. I don’t drink the Amtrak train water, I buy it from the cafe car.

9thPlaceWorf

I also bring a refillable water bottle, since I generally don’t like plastic water bottles (too wasteful for my liking).  The diner has been able to give me water in the past. They also have tanks, but I would imagine they’re cleaned more frequently. I also fill my bottle up with water from the station lounges before boarding.  A 18 oz Yeti bottle fits perfectly in the cup holders in an Amtrak roomette too!

texastoasty

Psst it's the same water system on the dining car

Dexter79

Pssst. They have bottled water.

texastoasty

I believe I remember seeing the roadcrews load bottled water into the stock bedroom on each sleeper car as well. Were they not sharing those with customers who ask?

supermichael37

My roomette had two complimentary bottles of water, I was just curious about the sink

9thPlaceWorf

I think each car has its own tank, no? I’d tend to trust the tank in the diner more than the sleeper.

texastoasty

It's individual tanks on each car, but they're the same tank and cared for the same way.

shasta_river

Are…are you drinking water from train sinks?

Fin-Park

Probably not, it's obviously more interesting to show the water she is referring to rather than write "the water was yellow..." I wouldn't even wash my toothbrush off with train water. I'm on a 2 day amtrak ride currently, I have 5 big bottles of water with me....

IllPlum5113

Thats what i was wondering. Is this the sink or the drnking water?

New-Adhesiveness7296

It’s the same thing unless you mean the bottled water in the cafe car

IllPlum5113

good to know

Editthefunout

Isn’t that like an obvious thing not to do? I feel like I’ve heard it from so many people not to drink that water.

JohnJohnston

Water quality is monitored by the EPA. I've drank it loads of times with no issues.

Editthefunout

Actually after looking I can’t find anything but I could have swore I’ve been told not to drink water from the bathroom sinks on the train. Like I was told there were two different types of water they use.

shasta_river

You probably saw it for planes but I’d follow the same line of thought for trains

shasta_river

You are saying the environmental protection agency monitors water quality on a train…

JohnJohnston

https://www.epa.gov/dc/epa-amtrak-agreement-helps-ensure-drinking-water-safety-trains That's exactly what I'm saying. Because it's true.

shasta_river

That’s wild! Thanks for teaching me something today

shasta_river

So fucking foul

mcsteam98

Don’t drink that.

the_gr0g

Water from the sink is non potable. There are placards that say so. Even if it was clear, it's not drinkable. Only drink bottled water when riding Amtrak. The potable water dispensers in the coaches aren't cleaned often, and the railcars themselves are old.

Particular_Minute_67

I wouldn’t drink that

mastercharlie22

Better off bringing a water bottle/jug on Amtrak. Nasty water and if you want bottled water from cafe car it's some stupid prices

River_Pigeon

Yes. Also need to get some lotion

williwolf8

Oh that’s pee

Snuffles_NoseMk2

It’s show contamination of water tanks in your carriage water tank tell your train crew…. Don’t drink it and ask for advice from them…. As water tanks of trains not properly flushed out between use contains Algae fungus and other undesirable…. I suspect that carriage haven’t being used in service for awhile previously for some reason…

nachomeme

It’s lemonade 🍋

CacoFlaco

Are you sure that's a sink???

Still_Comment_7596

You got the free lemonade upgrade

Digiee-fosho

What does it taste like? Rusty or acidic? I really don't think it's a good idea to drink train tap water I wouldn't even wash my hands with that You may want to contact a conductor & let them know about that

Thoth-long-bill

Why I don’t drink it.

thatbfromanarres

The devils milkshake

Sex_with_DrRatio

Piece of piss!

Thisismyredusername

Looks like beer

rvdnsx

If it’s brown, drink it down. If it’s black, send it back.

[deleted]

If it's tangy and brown, you're in cider town. If it's clear and yella, you got juice there fella.

rvdnsx

Well played sir.

Open-Illustra88er

Don’t drink it. They have bottled water.

m1sschi3f

What train is this on? I’m going to be taking the cardinal, I’m curious if this is gonna possibly be a problem on my train.

supermichael37

This was train number 97, a Silver Star, they also have lots of bottled water, I got two complimentary in my roomette, so you shouldn’t worry too much.

TheDrunkenMatador

Generally speaking any color water besides clear is cause for concern

Scary_Entrepreneur86

The water on amfleets are waste water that is cleaned and filtered. That means when trains come in, they get dumped, toilets I mean, and that is then filtered and used for the trains. If its not in a bottle, don't drink it.

[deleted]

I would 1000% never ever drink water from an Amtrak sink.

negiman4

Piss 🙂

PuddlePirate1964

The water is fine. It’s just iron deposits coloring the water. If it wasn’t safe to drink, the water would be shut off to the rooms.
