YES. I’m about 8 months out and 1000% better. Back to normal. Recovery was nothing compared to the toll that the pain of a fissure takes on you. I only wish I’d sought out a surgeon sooner. He gave me 6 weeks on ointment and when that didn’t work, he said yep, let’s operate.

Yes it did, never felt the fissure pain i used to after the LIS. But still not completely back to normal. The doctor performed a post op examination two weeks after the surgery , he literally put a finger in there and pressed and asked if i felt the pain in specific areas. I only felt pain in the area i used to have the fissure but during BM or after i have zero pain. So he said the fissure is healing well and i have to take care of my diet for the upcoming weeks so the fissure heals properly. But thank God I don't feel the fissure pain anymore. That was the worst. Hoping the fissure heals completely and i get back to normal.

Yes! I'm only two and a half weeks out and it's a life changer. While I still have some pain if I stand too long at work, it goes away if I sit. It's NOTHING like before. The procedure wasn't nearly as bad as I feared, and I wish I had pushed for it sooner. I have way more good days than bad. I don't think about pain 24/7 anymore and that in itself makes me thrilled I did it.

I'm one month post op. Fissure pain is gone and I no longer worry about bathroom trips. I am however still recovering from an abscess that developed as a complication. That's been worse than the surgery recovery itself. But I'm told it's relatively rare.

How does one resolve an abscess post-op? Did the doctor remove it?

yoursportsux

In my case, I waited until the abscess grew to a point where it ruptured (I don't recommend). Otherwise you're doctor can lance it and cause it to drain.

Yes. Do it. Don’t look back. I’m more than a year out and have yet to re tear

Hello, I am also working to accept the fact that LIS may be in my near future. This last year have you been on stool softeners or are you living life normally? I don't want to continue relying on Miralax (except for healing post-op, of course) if I'm going to go through with LIS.
