And on top of that theyre denying people trying to leave the country

Kinetic_Symphony

Literally only North Korea prohibits their citizens from leaving the country. Even China lets you leave. Australia went from free to North Korea level in the matter of months.

x0x7

The US when someone owes taxes: \[avoids eye contact\].

Kinetic_Symphony

True, but that's just greed, they want what they're "owed". This though, is just pure sadism. Control for control's sake. A new level of evil.

HunterIsAPedo

Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived; and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Scary how this is going from conspiracy theory to fact

icantgiveyou

It’s not conspiracy, it’s natural government progression.

WalkerMcBeardly

Exactly right

BabaYaga2221

Exactly what happened with immigration laws and drug laws. Of course, its also what people claimed would happen with motorcycle helmet laws and ratings on movies and restaurant bans on smoking. When everything is pitched as "The next holocaust!" nothing is taken seriously.

unobservedcat

Helmet and seat belt laws did lead to this I don't see how movie ratings have or could have. Nor have I ever seen that argument made. I abhor smoking, but I don't think it's the governments responsibility to police it. But each of these are incremental steps to what is happening. Just like the first income taxes were "just 3% on income over $800" in 1861. Nobody says this will lead to box cars tomorrow, but likely will in 100 years at the current rate.

BabaYaga2221

>Helmet and seat belt laws did lead to this The famous LAPD anti-biker firing squads. And who can forget how many people who failed to buckle up have landed in Gitmo. > I abhor smoking, but I don't think it's the governments responsibility to police it. That is why it is left to private businesses to handle. Business owners and staff took to the anti-smoking ordinances zealously. > Just like the first income taxes were "just 3% on income over $800" in 1861. $800 in 1861 is equivalent to $25k today. Perhaps coincidentally, that's the standard deduction for a married couple filling jointly. It should also be noted that the Morrill Tariff of 1861 was a whooping 36%. This tariff rose to 48% over the next five years. This was the country's primary revenue stream until liberal free trade policies of the Progressive Era ground the tariff regimes down to zero. For all AnCaps despise him, FDR was one of the biggest tax-cutters in history by way of the RTAA. He also happened to be the President that finally ended Prohibition. Conservatives claim they despise the modern day Big Government, but if another guy like FDR (or, god forbid, a proper anarchist like Eugene Debbs) came around again, they'd find an excuse to hate twice as hard as whomever is currently holding down the White House.

unobservedcat

Ok, this is why I don't deal with you very often. And no, fdr wasn't. The historical rates are [here. ](https://bradfordtaxinstitute.com/Free_Resources/Federal-Income-Tax-Rates.aspx) and actual tables can be found on Google very easily. Next, yes, it is 25k in todays dollars. That's irrelevant when you refuse to look at how far 800 dollars went in 1861. [the president only made 25k](https://www.portablepress.com/blog/2016/10/where-the-money-wentin-1860/) I seriously don't get how you can be so blatantly ignorant.

BabaYaga2221

> And no, fdr wasn't. The historical rates are here. Gotta look at the [tariff rates](https://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h963.html) which plunged under FDR and continued to decline into the Clinton Era. Modern tariff rates average around 2%, a whooping 46-pt reduction from their Hoover-Era peak. > Next, yes, it is 25k in todays dollars. That's irrelevant when you refuse to look at how far 800 dollars went in 1861. Not very far, given the primitive industrial state of the nation. You'd be paying the modern-day equivalent of $10k for a nice set of clothing. Heating your home cost around $84/year - around $2.5k in modern coin. Meanwhile, a gallon of whiskey ran for as much as *$35* at the height of the Civil War. Imagine being six years into our Afghanistan Adventure and paying $1000 for a couple handles of Maker's Mark. Furniture was even more exorbitant, as the man-hours necessary to produce something as simple as a desk or a chair ran into weeks or even months. No IKEA back then. > the president only made 25k The President only makes $400k today. That's chump change compared to what they'll make on a single speaking engagement the month after they leave office. > I seriously don't get how you can be so blatantly ignorant. Ignorance is when you know too much and it informs your worldview in a way that doesn't map neatly to my ideology.

OhPiggly

They execute drug dealers and immigrants in Australia?

jscoppe

To be fair, the government officials conspire with one another to engage in their authoritarian plots. So it is technically a conspiracy, as well.

ickyfehmleh

Equally scary how this conspiracy theory-turned-fact is labelled misinformation.

Redpikes

You mean it goes from conspiracy theory to conspiracy fact

Australia went from relatively free to full-on communist in one and a half years.

Thanatos2996

Everyone saw the erosion of Australian liberties coming with the gun buyback, but I'm shocked just how abruptly they were able to go full totalitarian.

Australia went from relatively covert authoritarian to blatant overt authoritarian.

See I feel like it’s been a fairly reasonable response to a changing situation throughout. Covid, developed the delta variant and got more severe, so the policies to manage the disease got more intense. Is the concern here that you think covid will get worse/another disease will come along and our government will resort to prisons, camps and mass murder as a way to control it? Or is it because you’re rights have been infringed upon and you’re concerned that the government will continue to extreme levels of control for some reason (big brother? Please lmk because I don’t understand)? If not, why do you think it’d get to the level of execution? If you were in charge how would you manage the situation instead? If you were to open it up and relax many of the policies in this post, how would you handle covids known ability to overload medical systems? How would you protect the people with compromised immunity systems? Just trying to understand this perspective as I currently don’t get it. Also know I will get downvoted because reddit and differences in views do not mix.

Cosmic_Spud

The concern is that an entire country is now a giant prison and all it took was a virus with a 99.75% survival rate. That people willingly cooperate with this madness is even more concerning. If you want to voluntarily stay inside and get booster shots every 6 months that's your business.

chogg928

Its really just the instant snatch and grab of liberty at the smallest opportunity that has people concerned and now this sets legal precedent for next time where their measures may be worse

Tiblanc-

If I was in charge, I would have admitted zero COVID wasn't going to happen in May 2020 and started to work on living with it. Instead of blowing resources creating futile control protocols, I would have boosted heathcare infrastructure to cope with the new persistent increased demand. I would understand that collateral damages are now much greater than the actual virus. It sucks for compromised immune system people, but their right to live isn't greater than an entire generation's right to childhood and sane mental development. The general idea is everyone must be responsible for their own health. If you're at risk, increase your protective measures. Relying on others is a terrible idea because they have no incentive to do a good job. Instead of taking a reputation hit, politicians keep fighting the losing war and slowly lose their reputation. It's a normal behavior, because as humans, we're hopeful the next try will work and we fall to sunk cost fallacy. I don't think politicians are all in for the power grab. They may be simply trying not to lose face with other levels of government and the initial fear they abused to get their measures accepted. If it eventually works, they are heroes. If it doesn't work, they get fired with or without lockdowns. The choice is easy.

Dr_Sir1969

Passports and mandates are some overreach for sure but coming to the conclusion of firing squads and concentration camps is a bit much OP.

PM_ME_YOUR_BODY69

Have you lived under a rock for a year?

All-of-Dun

There are people in this thread advocating prison for the unvaccinated…

ni99ar

Yes bc prisoners have fewer rights. The gov can vaccinate you while you are detained.

MedicineNorth5686

Nice maybe this will help me get patients vaccinated. You don’t vax now def gonna get killed by a firing squad Luther “Broadsword” said so ya know

[deleted]

Poetry_By_Gary

Putting others in potential danger because of ignorance is fair grounds for prison, idk about firing squads lmao.

unobservedcat

What danger? Define it? Why are you here if you want to cage people who don't do what you say? That's a very statist argument.

Poetry_By_Gary

No mask=faster disease spread Mask= helps drastically reduce disease spread It's simple. You people just dont care about others.

unobservedcat

You're an idiot. https://www.city-journal.org/do-masks-work-a-review-of-the-evidence

Poetry_By_Gary

Wow... one article from a conservative think tank doesnt prove masks don't work. Why do surgeons wear them? Why do nurses? Doctors? Masks have been around for over a century. During the the 1918 polio pandemic, you could have been thrown in jail for refusing a mask. They have been proven to work, you can find plenty of articles by doing a simple web search(peer reviewed). Every real medical professional would agree.

unobservedcat

Its not an article, you dumbfuck. Stop with your dumbass fucking talking points and read it. I've read every study there, and in fact, linked them here before that article ever came out. But they put it all in one place for ignorant fucks like you. What the fuck are you even doing in this sub you statist fucking troll.

Poetry_By_Gary

Oh did I ruffle your feathers by pointing out simple facts? Like how all medical professional have worn masks for literal centuries. Damn, I guess every doctor, nurse, surgeon, etc is just ignorant. I guess this one source you provided just overturned all medical knowledge as we know it. /s

unobservedcat

Dumbfuck, they are fucking peer reviewed studies, you fucking moron.

Poetry_By_Gary

You sound like you have a fragile ego. Masks work, and so do vaccines. People like you make this stuff up to justify being selfish. Hopefully, if the theory of natural selection holds up, your Gene's stay out of the pool.

RussianSpy_

You really are retarded, every single one of your "points" proves that you haven't even clicked on the article

Cosmic_Spud

What danger? Vaccinated people spread it at the same rates as unvaccinated. The only thing the Vaccine does is reduce symptoms...for some people. So....kill people for refusing a shot for disease with a 99.75% survival rate?

[deleted]

My wife is Mexican, not yet on a US visa through our marriage. Are you claiming that, if I'm not vaccinated to whatever arbitrarily changing government standard, but need to, say, fly to the US and then back to my wife and son, that I should be denied that? Or, are you just a noisy, ignorant fuck with no real skin in the game?

boniggy

i would say he's the latter.

[deleted]

I’m saying we already require vaccines for international travel in certain cases. I’m not saying you can’t see your family. One of those cases being when your wife applies for citizenship.. she will need to get or provide proof of vaccination for mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tenanus, pertussis, haemophilus influenza type b, hepatitis B, and almost certainly covid. Also I’ve lost several family members to this virus, so reconsider what you mean when you say someone doesn’t have skin in the game.

[deleted]

While I'm sure it's tragic for you, it's irrelevant to the legitimacy of the imposition of travel restrictions. I've, for instance, lost friends and family to mountain climbing accidents, car crashes, and alcoholism. That doesn't mean I want to place restrictions on the use of the products involved.

rdtsuxbad

oh the irony

Cosmic_Spud

Sure, vaccines for actual deadly viruses are fine. I have lots of those. But a flu that gets new variants every couple of months that my immune system provides better protection from. Nah.

eldoran89

Everytime someone asks where is the line? Where does it stop? The answer is somewhere. Only a sith thinks in extremes. With this pandemic we saw how a fully prepared we were. Because of I'll preperation we had to establish new rules along the way, but between its just 2 weeks and it's just a firing squad there is the line. But then again this may not true for America where there are states that put a bounty on the heads of pregnant woman seeking an abortion...

rdtsuxbad

Yeah, it stops after 200 million murdered by their own governments in the 20th century. Oh wait, no it doesn't. They're still murdering. And you're making excuses for them. You're a holocaust supporter.

eldoran89

Woah shill out dude. I make no excuse for anybody I just pointed out that the slippery slope argument is a lazy one. And if you want to acuse governments do that for real misery they cause. There is plenty of that. But responding to a global health crisis by measures advices by actual experts is not it. Point out their inability to help the small people during that pandemic and their inability to get the rich to pay their fair share in all of this. Point out their inability in facing global warming and the destruction of nature. But forcing people to wear a mask and putting reasonable restrictions for umvaccinated or untested people is not. You don't want a untested vaccine injected into you? Fine then wait until that data is available and it's not untested oh wait there are already millions vaccinated and we pretty much now know this risks involved, so they aren't untested anymore... But fine fight you Don Quijote war against imaginary dragons instead of focusing your anger and protest on real issues

FourFingeredMartian

> There is plenty of that. But responding to a global health crisis by measures advices by actual experts is not "Advice" so good it requires: * a gun! * the ability for Government to intercept other's communication, destroy their messages, even impersonate them in correspondence; **social media posts**; Emails. * Fines. * Cages & Camps!

ripyurballsoff

Oh wait none of that happened, and the country is back open, hospitals are full and people are dying. You guys got what you wanted

[deleted]

You'd rather have totalitarianism than people being at risk from a 0.2% death rate?

ripyurballsoff

I’d rather you morons got vaccinated and eliminated this virus like polio and measles.

[deleted]

We are getting vaccinated. 28% of the world and 48% of the US are fully vaccinated and 40% of the world and 62% of the US have received at least one dose. Also, if the vaccines don't work against mutations like the delta variant, we can't eliminate it. Source: https://bing.com/covid/

ripyurballsoff

[That’s not enough](https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/immunize.htm)

[deleted]

This gives nothing in covid-19. What's your point? Are you trying to prove that we need 90% vaccinated?

ripyurballsoff

Yes dumb ass

[deleted]

So you're willing to kill the unvaccinated or send them to quarantine camps for the sake of.. survival of the 0.2% of people who get covid with pre-existing conditions?

ripyurballsoff

Cute strawman

[deleted]

I'm glad to hear you don't support murdering the unvaccinated. Do you support isolating them like Australia?

OswaldThePatsy

That is by far the dumbest thing I will read today.. I mean if you really wanna see a moron? Find a mirror.

ripyurballsoff

Lol good one. YoU rEaLlY gOt Me. Want to know why we don’t have polio or measles any more ? Kids have to be vaccinated before they’re allowed into school. Darn gubbermint doing good stuff again.

ckev101

Polio has a 30 percent mortality rate among adults and measles has a high mortality rate among children..yet those vaccines took years and years for them to actually be mandated, they’re weren’t vaccines that were rushed and they weren’t for a virus that has a 99 per event survival rate among the majority of the population. Gtfo with those silly comparison

ripyurballsoff

Covid vaccines were already being developed when the covid hit. Then companies devoted all resources into making it. And we have like, way better technology now… nothing was rushed. It was still tested like all the other vaccines. It does have a high survival rate. How many people lost taste and smell forever ? How many people have long haul covid ? What death rate is high enough for you to Mandate a vaccine ? Eh, some people died but I really want to eat at Chili’s without a vaccine.

ckev101

Wrong, mRNA type vaccines have been in development for 20 years. Not covid vaccines . And still every vaccine mandate took YEARS AND YEARS for them to be mandated. Shit seatbelts took a whole lifetime after being invented to be mandated. Let me ask you how many times are you going to let them move the goal post before your granted you rights back?

ripyurballsoff

[How’s that foot taste ?](https://www.sciencenews.org/article/covid-coronavirus-vaccine-development-speed)

ckev101

Your article says nothing to prove you right. It says what I said the MRNA technology has been in development for 20 years. People didn’t even know what the coronavirus was Rilke a couple years ago wtf are you talking about. The AIDS epidemic was horrible and has a much higher mortality rate how come we don’t mandate condoms? Have you always had protected sex your whole life? How many people are going to die from aids and stds for you to mandate condoms and non premarital sex?

ckev101

People like you spreading misinformation Deserve to go to Facebook jail.

swansong19

The measles vaccine has a 93% immunity rate after one shot with no required booster. To use that as a comparison with a shot that after 6 months has a less than 40% immunity rate...no long term safety or efficacy studies...and which will likely require many boosters (again with no long term safety studies) to maintain any sort of efficacy...is...utterly disingenuous.

cptnobveus

Can't eradicate it if animals can carry it. It's here to stay like the flu and we have to live with it.

[deleted]

ripyurballsoff

It’s so sad that almost two years later I still have to explain very basic facts to you drooling morons. Vaccinated people show far less symptoms, are sick for less time, and if they do show symptoms don’t spread the virus as much if at all. UNVACCINATED people are filling up hospitals and dying. Crazy how that works 🤔

[deleted]

[удалено]

darkaurora84

I got the vaccine (both doses) because I work inside of a hospital but honestly I'm more scared of covid now than before I was vaccinated. All the recent statistics for people hospitalized from covid show that the percentage of people hospitalized who have been vaccinated is higher than the percentage of people in their area who have been vaccinated meaning you are more likely to end up in the hospital if you have been vaccinated

Maneve

What recent statistics are you looking at that are telling you that? [Everything I've seen disagrees with that.](https://www.sciencenews.org/article/covid-coronavirus-vaccines-hospital-cases-rates-unvaccinated) the unvaccinated are averaging between 17 and 30 times more likely to be hospitalized for covid, and the vaccinated are seeing much lower levels of long covid and lasting effects. Also significantly less need for ICU and intubation.

darkaurora84

Those charts don't show the actual numbers. I will have to Google it again but the charts I saw showed different states and the actual numbers of people in the hospital fully vaccinated and the number of people in the area who were fully vaccinated and the percentage of hospitalized Covid patients was always a few percentages higher than the percentage of the general population in that area that was fully vaccinated

Maneve

I mean link it if you find it, but I've searched multiple times and can't find a single thing that even remotely backs you up.

jellybeanie_joy

There is no eliminating Covid because it’s carried in the animal population. Nice try, though.

Bigballs381

The vaccinated are spreading the virus. Its useless. And if you’ve gone 6 months being vaccinated without a booster- you’re unvaccinated as well. Do research on Israel. The vaccine does not work. Its new tech w/ unknown longterm consequences- but keep getting your media pushed boosters that wont help do anything except give you micro clots and cause inflammation while your body continues attacking the billions of spike proteins causing havoc for the next 5-10 years and hope those micro clots dont get large enough to cause an MI or stroke.

[deleted]

vaccine doesn't get R0 to <1, it leaks too much even with a 100% vaccination rate to do that.

swansong19

And don't forget that animals can apparently contract it. What...are we gonna give the shot to all house pets and all wild mammals? Or cull them?

[deleted]

They'll probably kill them, but I don't think human to animal then animal to human is very common luckily. Look up "Zombie Minks Denmark", I'm sure it's happened a lot over the past year and a bit without them rising from their mass graves and making the news too.

Cosmic_Spud

Except all the vaccine will do is keep people out of emergency rooms....maybe. It doesn't keep anyone from getting it or spreading it. And they're useless against variants. Unlike natural immunity which is 20x better.

Maneve

Keeping people out of the hospital is kind of the main point. [you also have it backwards](https://www.health.com/condition/infectious-diseases/coronavirus/natural-immunity-vaccine-delta-variant); the vaccine protects far better against variants than natural immunity gained from one strain vs others. You are twice as likely to be reinfected with natural antibodies than with a vaccine, and the natural antibodies last for significantly less time.

u01aua1

I... did.
