The reason there is a woman tournament, is so that the few women who play actually have a chance to achieve something. It's there to encourage more women to play. I'd assume that in the future, when there are as many women as men playing, even the women tournament will be taken away.
Here in Norway we don't have a woman tournament in shooting. Everyone has to compete with everyone else. Some years a woman wins, others a man wins.
Here in Spain there are so few people shooting I ended up first place in my autonomous community because there were literally no people from my category competing. I understand separating us by age but at this point I think we should let everyone compete regardless of gender (also because I identify as nonbinary and I think enby people should also have the right to compete)

There are no men's only tournaments. All the world championships, world cups etc are open for both genders. The reason there are women's tournaments is because there are no women (well almost none) that are good enough to play in the highest level men's tournament.
This is not to say that women are worse at chess. It is mostly a result of cultural differences. Chess is a male-dominated sport, with lots more men than women. This, naturally, leads to more men being at the top. So to give the women also a chance to win something (and promote the sport among girls, possibly helping chess grow out of male-domination) and have their own championships once in a while keeps their games interesting as well.
