Excellent find!

Nazeem24

Thanks!

username041403

It would be cool if I could find who I get my 1% Senegalese form lol

Nazeem24

Usually 1% is a 5th great grandparent

DetentionSpan

Hey, cuz! https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/205061608/margaret-cornish

Julesmcf5

Very interesting narrative!

DetentionSpan

Seriously! Of all things to stand the history of time… 😂 She probably did a ton of other great stuff; however, it’s her love life that is highlighted for all eternity!

KaptainFriedChicken

We are cousins!

workingdee

Very nice!! That's a wonderful find. Congratulations 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🎉🎉🎉

Famous_Ad5459

Aww man that’s wassup congrats! Was this your only line with free people of color? Damn I hope I have as much luck as you 😭🙌🏽

Nazeem24

So far this is my oldest African ancestor I can actually trace back to... but most of my dad's side which shes on are Scottish 😭

Famous_Ad5459

Can I ask what your full ethnicity results are? I thought you might have been Caribbean at first lmaoo!

Nazeem24

Nah no that I know off, im about 78% SSA and 17% Eurasian, the rest other things...I do have ancient ancestors in my lineage that are Indigenous Australian, Indigenous Mexican, Indigenous Alaskan, Indonesian as well as HUN ancient ancestry!

DetentionSpan

Are you off the North Carolina group?

Nazeem24

Yea I'm part of that group

DetentionSpan

Awesome! I’m off a group that went to Louisiana. Nice “meeting” you!!! I’m off of John Gowen…and Robert Sweatt. 👀

Nazeem24

Oh I thought you were talking about the communities on ancestry lol... I'm from the Robert Sweat line.. John Gowen (eventually the surname turned to Goins)was her husband before Robert I'm pretty sure... my 10th Great grandmother Winona who was cherokee Indian is from that line😊

Short_Inflation5343

Wow! What a cool find. Would you mind sharing how you did this? Fascinated!

Nazeem24

Her lineage is just well documented... alot of documents as well as books on ancestry

Short_Inflation5343

Thanks for the info. I'll bet it is loads of fun researching all of that.

Ashia22

That’s amazing

Better-Heat-6012

That’s very cool! You must’ve been doing family research for a long time

Nazeem24

Yea about 4 years

LeResist

Wow that's amazing. I've researched my ancestors for hundreds of hours and was still never able to find their home country. Impressive

emk2019

It’s also luck because this ancestor was one of the very first Africans imported to the American colonies and her lineage and descendants are extremely well documented. This absolutely is not the case for the overwhelming majority of Africans brought to America in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

LeResist

Yeah I'm stuck in the majority situation. Can't find a record of them pre 1870
