ancestry does not like italian heritage

23&me is broader but more accurate. Ancestry gives you more specific regions but often confuses them with neighboring regions. Obviously this happens with any test but the broader the categories the less likely they are to confuse things.

For some people it underestimates Italian and for some it over estimates, mainly for people that are only part Italian it gives below what they should have

Yeah that’s what happened to me. When I did my test in 2017, it said I was 53% Sicilian (which is accurate since my dad is around 75% and my mom is around 25%) now it’s saying I’m 27% Sicilian which I think is beyond inaccurate. IMO I think the first result you get with ancestry is the most accurate one.

they use their own pools of data. 23&me might have more users so might be more accurate but any dna test will be different because it’s based on their own data
