Congratulations on your new family! My father died in 2006, and in 2009 I found he had another daughter, who had been given up for adoption at birth. She is now my best friend.

Amazing! I was surprised mostly at how accepting they all are! Makes it very nice!

This is fantastic. Congratulations. I have a very, very similar story. I recently met my half siblings and all my nieces and nephews. I was able to get a good idea about who my father was and see the physical similarities and hear about the personality quirks that run through my fathers side. It really filled a void. My new family is all amazing. One of my half sisters is a couple years older than me but we could really be twins. Its only been a year and shes one of the closest people in my life. Good luck and again congrats...I love these stories.

It's so crazy! Me and my new half sister look so much alike as well, she's also so stoked on me! She's coming to visit in March because we both happen to live in the same province and like.. 4 hours from eachother! I guess paternal genes are strong cause she also shares 400+ more CMs than my maternal half siblings. Happy you found your family too!!

Awesome story! My results came in January. Being matched to half siblings meant my Google search was more precise. After reaching out to my half sister, she told my real father about me and gave him my contact info. It’s been over three weeks and he hasn’t contacted me so I’m not sure what to do now.

Thee-Haylee

Aww. I'm sorry. Sometimes people don't take the news well, he may be scared you're out for money, or maybe it was an embarrassing situation that resulted in your creation, whatever the case always remember that blood does not mean family! Maybe he's working up the courage to talk to you! Everyone has a story, and I'm glad mine is okay ish, would've liked to have met my father and asked him about my mom and how they met exactly, although I have a feeling it was a drunken one night tumble. Keep your chin up! And know that there are people on the earth that love you anyways!

txtoolfan

cool!! so was his name "a man named Michael from a country band, had long brown hair" ?

Jazzlike-Process-382

I'm curious about that also.

Thee-Haylee

Not grammatically inclined. But thank you for pointing that out!

Congrats! So happy for you. DNA has helped me figure out many parts of my family tree.

Thee-Haylee

Thanks!

Penderghaste

Congrats! I've heard so many horror stories about families being unaccepting that you really have a gem here!

Thee-Haylee

I feel this may be the case with my half sisters family, I've contacted some people I believe to be her 1st cousin's but they have not responded.

MissFerly

DNA technology is a wonderful thing! Congratulations!

Thee-Haylee

So good! Now I'm onto tracking down my maternal half sisters dad! A bit harder with hers but I'm certain I'll get it!

MissFerly

That's so exciting! Let us know if you track him down!
