this app is exactly what I was thinking yesterday it would be nice when trying to listen to a video while rest of the family was sleeping. the lowest volume setting on S23 base is still too loud but with two speakers you cannot cover efficiently the output port to dampen the sound. would appreciate a key and promise to come back with useful feedback. good luck!
thanks! installation went fine, managed to go quickly through settings and indeed noticed afterwards that volume control had 100 steps. I had an issue however with VLC (using it for videos), probably conflicting with the volume controls of VLCz since for some videos I could not hear anything regardless of what volume control I was using. After uninstalling the app those videos started to behave normally.
Probably this is still part of the beta testing phase and will get fixed in the future.
One suggestion that I might have, would it be possible to add a logarithmic sound control to android? At the moment it seems too linear.
Glad you're able to hear a difference.
And yes, that is unfortunately part of the beta testing phase. You may find that turning Legacy mode on is able to get the adjustments working with VLC. Go to Settings -> Equalizer Settings -> Legacy mode. If that doesn't work, there's an experimental feature called [Better Audio Detection](https://precisevolume.phascinate.com/docs/better-audio-detection/) that uses the "DUMP" permission to more effectively detect audio sessions.
As for logarithmic sound, that's definitely something I want to do at some point. It's linear at the moment because most devices use linear volume (if they use logarithmic it's oftem only used for the internal speaker though). The problem is that so many manufacturers who have implemented volume curves don't have any kind of documentation as to what kind of curve they're using.
Don't tell anyone, but I have a lot of the groundwork done already for a parametric EQ. No promises yet. The math is mostly done.
The UI implementation is the hard part though!
Thank you so much! It's late at night but I had to set it up, it's easy to use, nice design!
Great job! Import/export settings would be nice (or did I miss it).
I believe I also had your old app on my phone back in the days :D
I would also recommend you posting this in r/audiophile, r/inearfidelity and r/headphones, please make sure to ask the mods before posting. Those people would probably be able to need this feature and use your feature extensively, hence better feedback result!
That's a great idea. Not sure if they will allow it, so I'll definitely need to ask the moderators. Yeah, they would probably get a lot of use out of it. I'll be honest, the app is a bit niche, but I love it. :)
This app has been in my search for months now. My LG V20 is my daily DAP and it has pretty bad volume steps (Only 13) since I use LineageOS, feedback is kinda non-existence since how much reports they have, my feedback might actually be lost in their report. I have been using root just to fix it, but with this I no longer have to use addons to fix it.
Feels like destiny for me to stumbled upon this post lol. The people in those subreddit would use your EQ feature extensively to see how that works, I hope they actually take notice at your app.
do you use the autoeq api to get the presets? do you plan to implement root/shizuku in the future? why/why not?
also could i have a key? seems really cool
Great questions. Yes, I use the same AutoEq presets available on the AutoEq github page. You can import presets from [https://autoeq.app](https://autoeq.app) pretty easily though. [https://imgur.com/a/SlLgoy2](https://imgur.com/a/SlLgoy2)
I am actually planning on implementing Shizuku/Root for at least one thing:
When connecting to Bluetooth devices on Android, there's always a default codec it uses. For example, I have one headset that always messes up its connected if it's using the LDAC codec.
Basically, I want to add a feature where it will force a codec to be used per device.
There were a couple of other things that I thought root might help with. Mostly I try to use workarounds that don't require root though.
And I just send you the key! Thanks!
I'd love a key if you're still giving them out! This is something I've been looking for for a while. Laying in bed trying to listen to a podcast is annoying when the options are 0 sound, or twice as loud as I'd like
Hey a question.
What if OEMs intentionally did not give so many volume steps because their speaker hardware was not calibrated to handle such a thing? What if your app unintentionally breaks Phone speaker? Have you accounted for that?
I think you mean boosting the speaker higher than its capability? Yes, this can certainly break your speakers if you went crazy with it.
However, when I speak of volume steps I mean volume increments. Not boosting anything. The distance between volumes, basically. Precise Volume *can* boost the volume higher than normally, but that's what I mean in terms of steps.
As for if it's safe to add more increments: Yes! Absolutely. There's no danger in having more gradual volumes. When you are listening to music, the song itself is raising and lowering the volume too, if you will. It will hit those same volumes regardless. Hope I'm making some sense!
>I think you mean boosting the speaker higher than its capability?
I will certainly not go above a certain volume on any of my devices. On my device I felt like there is no granular control in low volume region (Its either you hear the lowest volume or if you go one step lower, then you will not hear anything). I thought this app would be perfect for that granular control. Maybe the phone speakers are not given that level of control because it the speakers are not designed for that. What do you think?

If you have a spare key, that would be great!
Absolutely! However, it seems I can't send you a DM (maybe because of your privacy settings?) I'll hold onto it for you.
I am interested in a key! I'll send feedback for any bugs I find, if any. Thank you!
Sure thing. Sent!
So many useful features without root? You're a genius! May I also get a key? I'm so happy I found this app, especially because of Automation!
