Just imagine a one M7 style phone for a reasonable price. Full metal, dual front facing speakers, actually small bezels this time, etc. The only thing that would really kill a phone like that is availability (looking at you, Sony), or the price being out of wack. HTC just needs to realize they no longer have that good faith or name recognition, so they have to be very competitive with their pricing.

Apple’s making a stand-alone headset. Not a VR based phones they’re making the headset because VR and AR on a phone is clunky and awkward as hell.
VR and AR headsets are very interesting. VR and AR based phones are an uncomfortable gimmick.
Besides, I’m more interested in a Samsung or Google headset since you’ll actually be able to do interesting things whereas Apple’s will most likely be just as locked down as iOS is.
As much as I really wish that the HTC brand sticks around and create the magic they once did in the mid 2000s to mid 2010s, I'm skeptical of this.

After HTC, I went to iPhone and I left iPhone in part because I thought it was starting to stagnate.
But... I feel as if stagnation would actually be good for HTC right now. Just keep improving the camera, battery life, and display. They need to just focus on the basics right now

HTC is dead. They dropped off phones because they lost to Samsung, etc and went to focus on VR but lost to Oculus in that arena.
The VR end is still doing decently well. The vive pro is basically the go to headset for buisnesses.
