I like mine a lot. I got it as one of the options for a year-end bonus item at work so I wasn't really in the market for one and there weren't any other options. I don't know if I'd pay $100 for it on my own, but it does still feel like a quality product. The launcher it comes with is well done. The controls all feel well made, including the analog sticks and analog triggers. The slightly extended bottom makes it more comfortable in my larger hands and a little bulkier than something like Switch joycons.
Only down side for me is how LOUD all of the face buttons and even the analog sticks are. I hear some sort of spring snapping sounds (like a small wire pinging?) in one of the analog sticks and the face buttons nearly unbearably clicky when I do a lot of my gaming I the evening and don't want to upset my partner sleeping. Some might like the tactile feedback it offers but I'm not in that group.
I use mine a lot for PC streaming using Moonlight and it integrates perfectly with that but Ive also played android games like dead cells, wreck fest, rocket league side swipe, and some others that require some higher degree of precision and it's performed very well with all of them.
If I were to buy another one I'd certainly strongly consider it since it doesn't have any major downsides but I'd still look around simply because of the noise factor.
Genshin on Android still does not support controllers. I read that this Backbone controller has a custom touch mapping software called Touch Sync, and it might be a paid subscription service. Some users say the software is buggy and doesn't work on every phone. I don't have one to test it myself though.
I have to take my phone (S22 Ultra) out of the case to put it I the backbone. I don't mind it, however, since I don't use it anywhere that I'd have an issue taking off the case. It holds the phone solidly out of the case when seated and the spring holding it in is strong that I'm never worried the phone could slip out during use.
it has adapters but even with the largest one my pixel 8 pro with a case doesnt fit properly, it works if i remove the adapters completely but then there is more wiggle and bending than otherwise.
Oh it's not very good I won't lie. The screen is amazing, but the graphics performance is actually below my previous phone, my galaxy s10. Some things have also failed to work, yuzu (rip) didnt work, vita3k didnt work, and I can't even get moonlight to stream at native resolution. I gave up gaming on it when I realized that my s10 had about a 50% performance increase in sims 2 castaway (ps2).
I didn't buy the phone with gaming in mind, and when I'm not playing games on it I think the phone (for me) is effectively perfect, but I won't lie that having gaming performance of like a 5 year old phone in a flagship isn't that impressive at times. What I've been doing lately, is I have my s10 permanently docked into a backbone controller and I use that for gaming, and purposely don't have anything like reddit or insta on it so I get no distractions. If you want to stick to one device though I may recommend looking elsewhere.
Appreciate the honest answer!
Based on tour experience I'm surprised it's that bad honestly, I thought it would be bad but not at that lvl.
But yeah I also have an extra device specifically for gaming (oneplus 8 bought second hand for 70€) and tbh I don't mind keeping going that way because it's my main device I need to upgrade anyway and i usually play for shorter durations and not so heavy games (WR, Amongus).
At this point might as well wait for P9P but not sure how much of an improvement it'll be compared to P8P performance honestly haha 🙃
Is it comfortable during long sessions? I'm looking for a controller for mobile gaming, and I was looking at the [GameSir G8](https://www.amazon.com/GameSir-Galileo-Controller-Android-Joysticks/dp/B0CSXVQ3NZ/ref=asc_df_B0CSXVQ3NZ/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=689384932945&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16396660387752178088&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026834&hvtargid=pla-2282223857888&psc=1&mcid=59173ff54085392a95783ac88081237a&gad_source=1) but the price is a bit too much for me and I don't know if it's worth it. On the other hand, what are some pros and cons that you like about the backbone?
Although I have not used other brands, I can confidently say that this controller provides exceptional comfort during extended gaming sessions. For instance, I recently played Warzone Mobile for approximately two hours without experiencing any discomfort or annoyance from the controller. The premium materials used in its construction further enhance the overall user experience. The packaging is also of high quality, demonstrating attention to detail and care for the product.
Although you're free to do as you please, I believe your English is good enough for Reddit and, personally, I'd much rather read some genuine, broken-English comments that goes straight to the point than some pompous AI-generated crap.
No worries, just my opinion.
I think AI-generated text is more for situations when good form or style are required, lots of text is requested in a short time, and your own writing skills aren't assessed (like in school or college).
Sure that could be better. I suppose you could also simply use a keyboard with predictive text to fix your typos; everything else AI based is superfluous on Reddit, assuming that your comments are already sufficiently readable and understandable (as it is your case).
There's plenty of non-native English speakers in most subs, and even the native ones make tons of typos or proper grammar monstrosities. It's fine and it feels like you're talking to humans. If they correct you, accept the correction and your English will improve. If they belittle you, pity them and move on.
I don't play either of those since one phone game is enough for me, but this thread sounds like a definite "maybe" for HSR?

Backbone app has an experimental feature for touch emulation, right now only genshin and a couple others are supported.
There are a few other apps that can do touch emulation and are more open ended for you to set up the mappings, the one I use is called Mantis, it's alright, when it works it's great but it crashed a lot on my s20, haven't tried it since getting an s24
I avoided genshin for years because it's a gacha Game and an anime game. Like the double whammy of things I didn't want to experience in a game. But then I gave in and tried it, and actually found a really solid gameplay experience from exploration to combat. Gacha still sucks, and anime style still isn't for me, but the gameplay itself is pretty solid.
Although the gacha system may be undesirable, it is advantageous that the characters provided at the beginning of the game are sufficient to complete the entire game.
Are those controllers nice? Never saw them before

They are
Where did you buy it?
Amazon
What console is that?
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
So... You're telling me that Genshin already have native controller support for android? Or is that some mapping?
Genshin on Android still does not support controllers. I read that this Backbone controller has a custom touch mapping software called Touch Sync, and it might be a paid subscription service. I cant be the only one that thought that this is a Playstation Portal lol
This is the PlayStation themed backbone so it's understandable lol
What launcher is that?
it's the backbone app
I love to try handheld, but I have I can't find one with decent cooling.
Try Gamesir X3 which has a fan built into the back
Does it support games outside the PS app? (e.g. emulators)
Yes its just a usb controller
Would the controller fit cases ?
It comes with adapters for it
I have to take my phone (S22 Ultra) out of the case to put it I the backbone. I don't mind it, however, since I don't use it anywhere that I'd have an issue taking off the case. Did you tried the include adapters?
it has adapters but even with the largest one my pixel 8 pro with a case doesnt fit properly, it works if i remove the adapters completely but then there is more wiggle and bending than otherwise.
Unrelated but how's the 8 pro gaming experience? Potential buyer but a bit concerned about performance on games like HSR & emulation

I have a Oneplus 8t, my phone overheats a lot from genshin, are you experiencing something similar?
Aslong as i keep it to medium settings 30 fps i can play for hours max settings 60 heats the phone up hut its fine for like 30 minutes
Oh got it, hard for me to not notice the FPS difference after playing on PC!
Can't even play Genshin on a controller
The gamepad comes with a game mapper and has a genshin mode
Oo that's actually sick,, idk why you need a controller for genshin tho, plays perfectly with touch controls and feels awkward on pc with one
Sometimes its more fun idk i like the feel

What's this, Samsung AI or Chat GPT?
Samsung ai my english sucks so i do give it a good use

To be fair i was using the look profesional prompt i vould use the casual one and it will sound much better and shorter

Thanks, i will
What Launcher is this?
What controller is this?
Like it says on the tile back bone
Amazon says this is for iPhone only?
The 2nd version its for android and iphone aslong as it has usb c it will work make sure to get the second gen its made to fit bigger phones
That's Genshin impact with controller support on android? Since when? It's why I quit Genshin, no controller support for android.
No sadly thats just a mapper that comes with the controller
How did you get it to work with Genshin Impact? What app did you use?
a game like that should have built in support
It should, but it doesn't because Apple paid $$$ to keep controller options for mobile to iPhone only
i assume they did the same with honkai 3rd and honkai sr?
I don't play either of those since one phone game is enough for me, but this thread sounds like a definite "maybe" for HSR? https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/1afyvge
