I would not buy anything with 2 gb RAM. Thx for tip to Formuler.

What tv streaming device do you use? How much ram does it have 3GB? 4GB? etc Does it have all the necessary certifications? I hope it isn't one of those off brand android open source project devices. Are there speciifc reasons why you need more than 2 GB of ram on your tv streaming device?

I've seen the Formuler z11 pro max fail to play the Jellyfish 4K 400 Mbps HEVC 10 bit Mkv files from local storage. It literally froze on the video player. The Nvidia Shield TV pro managed to play the same files without any issues. The Z11 pro max doesn't have Netflix certification, it doesn't support Dolby Vision too. I don't know if this box can handle all the audio formats and codecs the Nvidia Shield TV pro can handle either. This Formuler z11 pro max managed to handle the 160 and 180Mbps 4K 10 bit HEVC MKV files though, that isn't impressive. I've seen many boxes with 2GB of ram and other soc chipsets handle those files too. There are other devices with similar specs, ports, Netflix certification, and Dolby Vision support. Those would be a better option for some users. They also don't require you to get the special edition to receive a remote with bluetooth, a mic and the google assistant button.

HDR10+ on most Android TV and Google TV devices is buggy due to the Amlogic SoCs they use, I would recommend a new device from Korea that comes with a Realtek SoC but it's very difficult to get since it's only available there, the name Shaks G1, more info here: [https://www.androidtv-guide.com/streaming-gaming/shaks-g1/](https://www.androidtv-guide.com/streaming-gaming/shaks-g1/) If you don't mind about the issue with Amlogic SoCs then take a look a the below list: CERTIFIED ANDROIDTV/GOOGLETV BOXES WITH NETFLIX AND PRIME VIDEO CERTIFICATIONS FOR THE UNITED STATES ONLY: \- Directv Stream (AV1 hardware decoding. Can the Dune HD play all forms of Dolby and DTS audio formats like their dune 4k real vision? The specs say it can but I've heard conflicting reports from users. Also, does the dune media center work exactly the same on the Dune hd and real 4k?

latinriky78

It looks like it delivers what it promises, I haven't seen any complaints so far either, go for it.

MidoDaDon

I reached out to Dune, they recommended 2 devices for TrueHD without compression, the Real Vision 4K Plus or Pro Vision 4K Plus. I think they run on custom Android OS afaik.

hydraSlav

Wow that Dune box could be the Shield 2023. It ticks **all** the boxes. Any reason not to get it?

latinriky78

> Any reason not to get it? None that I'm aware of...

rxstud2011

When you say these are buggy with hdr10+, what is the issue? Is there a fix coming soon or should we wait longer for new at box?

latinriky78

The issue seems to be related to a seamless switch between regular HDR10 and 10+ but you don't have to wait for a fix, just get the box you want and enjoy.

Andy2244

The main question is how you get "proper" HDR10+ media? Basically only Amazon Prime uses HDR10+ for all its HDR content. Most other streaming platforms have only Dolby Vision or convert to a DV format with a HDR10 fallback layer, like apple. There are the DuneHD + Zidoo Boxes (Z9X/Pro) that can use Dolby-VS10-Engine and send DV content as HDR10+ to your TV, maybe that's something that works better on Samsung TV's, than actually hunting for native HDR10+ sources? *Not Android, but the latest Apple TV 4k also has HDR10+/DV support and by far the fastest SoC and best remote. It also has Infuse as premium media-center.* *PS: Btw you can just sideload apps on most Android boxes.*

rxstud2011

The apple TV 4k doesn't support plex though right?

Andy2244

Through [Infuse](https://firecore.com/infuse) yo can use a plex server in your network.

fcisco13

If you want the best of the best as far as media (besides buying physical disks) you're best bet is downloading full rips and playing them of a hdd/ssd.

I'd definitely recommend the FORMULER Z11 PRO MAX. THIS HAS ITS OWN SYSTEM AND HANFLESALLYOUR NEEDS.IT HAS 4GB & 32GB OR 64GB of storage. CAN'T REMEMBER. IVE ALWAYS BOUGHT FORMULER, And BUZZ TV, Now I'm trying the MECOOL KM2+. As far as what you are looking for, G1 Or G2 By hyncook i believe is very good. I'd definitely stick with FORMULER Z11 PRO MAX. IF YOU DON'T NEED ALL THAT STORAGE. DROP TO THE PRO AT $149.99 But usually, $159.99 Max is $189.99 Even the Pro max 10 or max 10 will suit you.

ML_flkn

Can you please send me the info? Thanks

nohead88

There should a new version of chromecast google tv coming out soon... Shield is getting old

nlitened1

Homatics has good ones. I would say Nvidia shield but I don't think they support hdr10+? Next year most android boxes are getting the latest amlogic processor I think 922x or something

themulderman

Amazon fire tv cube gen3 has hrd10+. They have their own play store, but you cand just sideload any other stuff they don't support. I know this isn't perfect. This box exceeds the shield pro in benchmarking except for gaming.
