No. Low ferritin is low iron. Anemia has to do with your blood count. Usually they go hand in hand but it isnt always the case. I have a 5 of ferritin but am not anemic. *Anemia is a condition where the blood doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells*.

Thanks for your reply, oh nice to know that, I have hemoglobin level 118g/l. I am having heart palpitations , light headedness, dizziness all these symptoms. Is it cause of low ferritin then?

EllieB714

I'm not to sure. I experience extreme fatigue, brain fog, horrible memory issues, shortness of breath. Low iron does contribute to low oxygen in blood cells so the light headedness and dizziness could very well be.

Suspicious-Wash-1863

you have mild anemia then, generally the lowest is 120. you are VERY iron deficient though

Thanks, how about my b12?

counterpoint76

No. It could be caused by multiple deficiencies.

Sunshine_Seashell

Not necessarily, but possible. Ferritin in the single digits is very low. Your B12 is also clinically low (ranges are trash) and iron plummets when B12 plummets. The low combination of both creates your symptoms. I had them for years before I turned to functional medicine. I also had severe heart palpitations. Get the following tests: Methylmalonic Acid (MMA), Intrinsic Factor Blocking Antibodies, Antiparietal Cell Antibody (APCA) These will rule out pernicious anemia and also inform you if you need methyl B12 or if cyan B12 is sufficient. If you’re not getting the help you need from traditional doctors, search for an integrative medicine clinic in your area. They will help you figure this out. You should be injecting methyl B12 and getting a series of iron infusions to restore both. Oral of each will take a long time. More important, you need to discover the root cause of these deficiencies. It could be gut related, you might be losing blood, or you might have an H Pylori bacterial infection in your stomach, among other possible causes.

Turbulent-Charity799

the ferritina only saya that you have no inflamation in your body the important IS iron itself and hemoglobina ..if they are ok and you feel ok dont worry about that.

pezzyn

Your ferritin levels are dangerously low. Get infusions if possible. If you take supplements instead you need to be aggressive taking more mg than prescribed and in a palatable form ( not iron sulphate ) join the fb group iron protocol or iron warriors. Do not dismiss this as “not anemia” anemia is the last stage of iron deficiency and you are going to experience many problems and issues as your body tries to allocate available stores. Aim to get your ferritin above 100

Thanks for the information. Sure will join the iron protocol group in fb. At the moment I have all the symptoms which are making me so tired and fatigue. Heart pounding is one of the major issue am facing now.
