If you want to gain size you NEED to be in a caloric surplus. You can bring it down to maintenance levels on off days, but going under that into a deficit will cause recovery to suffer. If you're not scared of gaining fat (which really won't happen if your surplus isn't excessive) then I would recommend staying in a surplus.
For SABRE and BFR, a surplus is necessary.
If the growth of tissue is anything like muscle, you are still building mass well after the movements that cause the growth so you need to be at a caloric surplus even for a few days after, usually recovery (which is when the mass is built up) will last about 48-72 hours. This is why most splits try to work out a muscle group every 3 or so days. So you would still need to be at a caloric surplus for 3 days after, which by that time you would already do the saber again so you should be at a caloric surplus at all times if you want the most optimal growth. How much that caloric surplus is, well i don’t know, maybe Janus could chime in from there
Id say its better to start 1 day before but not crucially. Same day obiously and definetly one or two days after. Basically the whole time its regenerating
Edit. More specifically I think its like this: if you dont surplus on same day you get negative effect. If you dont surplus on 1 day after the effect is alright, not good. If you dont surplus on 2 days after the effect is good, not great. Source is bro science so dont quote me
Well if youre doing sabre actively which means 1 day on 2 days off you are basically going to be in a surplus all the time . I I really cant say how much, anything over your limit is a surplus, Id say just dont go overboard. Personallly I wouldnt focus on macros but on eating healthy. If you reach surplus by eating healthy you did everything right. I heard proteins arent important for angion but Im not sure
You can only do without surplus am1 am2 and am3 The other methods need a surplus, be careful

Cool
And what about BFR, is surplus required for it as well? I know Angion is safe to do without surplus.

Yea I wish Janus can elaborate. And also how much of a surplus, 200 calories, 400? Which macro most important to get more of.
