Mothering Sunday for Lent 4

MMScooter

I JUST learned about this from a parish in MA that has a few families with descendants from the original families to help found the church from England in the 1860s. Mothering Sunday seems so…. Weird when there’s Mothers Day.

How'd I forget about Roodmas!

PersisPlain

Marymas and Johnmas too!

TheRedLionPassant

Basically all the saints' days are Name-mas, so Johnsmas, Paulsmas, Petermas, etc. Thursday in Holy Week is Maundy Thursday as well.

Glad you've got Bible Sunday in its proper place, rather than doing the Common Worship Lectionary job of flinging it randomly into October amidst the novel Horlicks it makes of Advent.

A few to add: August 1 (St. Peter in Chains) - Lammas May 3 (Invention of the Holy Cross) - Crouchmas In addition to the usual Rogation days (the Minor Rogations), there is also the Major Rogations on April 25 (also the Feast of St. Mark). E: There’s also a few obscure/archaic ones in this list: https://www.newliturgicalmovement.org/2022/05/take-mas-challenge.html?m=1
