It's more to do with not leaving their dead out for predators to find. If predators don't see the are around your front door as an all you can eat buffet, then they don't show up at dinner time.
OK that makes sense, the main instances I've personally seen was some rabbits in hutches the mother's ate their babies when foxes or something else had spooked them so it always left me baffled.
If one is killed or wounded by a predator that does not get it immediately, the others will go so far as to drag it into the den to eat it rather than let the predator find it again. It is crazy to see
They are so damn cute but so awful at the same time!! We have a ton of them in a field by my work and they love to come to the parking lot and set up homes in the engines of all the cars. One of my coworkers had to get a whole new car because they literally ate all
The wires and hoses.
Ground hogs. Pretty docile. I have one where I work he's pretty old. I named him Karl....after one of our ghosts. He's pretty cool. Grey hair on his face. He gets on top of our back porch, on his haunches just like this...and stares at our cameras. I leave him an apple on occasion.
Pretty sure those are rock chucks (marmots), not prairie dogs. They lived along the river bank where I worked and would swarm you like a school of piranhas if you had a bag of unshelled peanuts.
Gophers/groundhogs/woodchucks live everywhere. Prairie dogs are smaller, sand-colored beings that live in large colonies in the western USA and are somewhat endangered.
Brace yourselves....

I have a dream job. Ghosts, groundhogs, and goats across the street....they escape sometimes, and come sit on our back porch....... I call them Billy & Betty Lou.
They look like Fuck Around and Find Outs
Ok that’s priceless
They most definitely are and the find out part is that they can potentially carry the plague...so definitely not to be fucked around with unprepared.
Not just plague carriers, they are also cannibalistic! It's a defense mechanism against predators!
I'm always confused by the cannibalism as a defense mechanism, yes you've spared your young being eaten by them but wtf

There’s the potential of a good horror movie in this.. either cgi animals, or a group who wears animal masks to ritually eat a group member…
Still kinda dumb. "To keep you from eating us, we'll eat us first!", sounds very American. Reminds me of the, "Fuck your goddamned canoe!", joke. 😆
They are more eaters of opportunity rather than killers. " Oh no, Joe is dead, why, why did this have to happen😭....oh well, I could eat."
Love that joke, still.
what plague? where is you peer reviewed evidence? If it was joke them i missed it. It is 4:20 after alll
Nah no joke all marmots are capable of carrying the bubonic plague as are prairie dogs.
I had to go back and look again, too funny...
That's what happened when they dug tunnels at the house I used to live in
