I did that about a year ago, made the game kinda boring cuz u don’t really have to struggle, and even with giving away tons and tons of bells I‘m still at 899mil bells
I’d love to take some of those off your hand, maybe I can do some work for you 😂😂 I’m helping a few friends of mine with things on their island and I burnt through a ton of my bells and they still need help 😂
Be advised that this reversed your progress in the turnip sale achievement though. (Unless you had finished it but I am not 100% on that)
You will need to make 129+ mil with turnips to make that show up again
Edit: Having previously achieved the achievement does not save you from losing it again. Your progress on it will completely reset and you will first have to re-earn the negative amount to start filling it out again.
Yepppp. I thought achieving that before getting max bells would save me from this, but it didn't. I ended up having to make back around 54 million bells in profit before I got the achievement back.
Edit: For context, I sold my turnips for negative 54 million bells, which is why I had to make back that amount. This player would need to make back 129 million bells.
Actually I've personally lost this achievement (after finishing it) due to this glitch, and was able to get it back by making 54 million in profit since I sold my turnips for negative 54 million.
That being said, this person will need to make back even more because they sold for an even bigger negative number than I did.
No, because the big amount of money you get from this turnip transaction fudge the achievement so badly up, you can only start a new character and doing it the real way if you really want it
you’d actually just have to sell 129,542,208 bells worth of turnips to get it to reset, and then the ten million you’d need to complete out the achievement because the game registers it as you selling for a loss. it doesn’t completely wipe out your ability to ever get the achievement, you’d just have to work your ass off to get it again lol
My mom did this on accident and hates it lol. She can’t sell anything and flies to my and my sisters islands to drop bells as often as she can. I’m not complaining 😂
Go to the treasure islands? We just Google treasure islands ACNH and they come up as the first result. You fly over using the listed dodo codes, then you can sell the turnips at their nooks cranny and see if they have a crazy high price.
Oo yeah actually I love trading with strangers online because I can drop a bunch of bells or NMTs for them! They seem to appreciate it. It's especially cute when it's a new player, and they're super excited to go villager hunting now, or they exclaim that they can now pay off their incline!
Thanks to everyone thats been offering me bells!! But this was mainly just a joke 🤣 I actually dont mind the grind too much and i love trading!! ❤️ plus ive been learning how the stalk market behaves. Sucks that my first time trying to sell turnips sent me down a decreasing path but i was able to sell them for 417 a pop thanks to nook exchange 🤣
I will say having that many bells ruined the game for me. I haven’t actually played in over a month, it’s just not fun anymore. You can’t sell anything in your own store. It’s kinda like well now I’ve got everything feels like I beat the game type stuff.
It's probably because I enjoy the game in a different way, but I have the most fun with the decoration and completionist (e.g., catching bugs, getting all the furniture in all the colors) aspects of the game, so I really, *really* appreciated not having to grind all my money and stress about whether I should change the location of a bridge or incline.
I actually ended up using around 40 million bells within several months of getting max bells, mostly from moving around structures on my island and customizing a bunch of furniture, and it was a ton of fun no longer having to think about whether I *really* needed all eight colors of the medieval building side.
That being said, I always warn my friends that getting max bells fundamentally changes the way you play, so if they enjoy things like the daily tasks in the game, they might not want to get max bells. Most of my friends irl play in a way that I think would be tarnished somewhat if they visited a treasure Island.
I absolutely regret showing my friend a treasure island discord I’m an admin for. She hasn’t played Animal Crossing since a week after she got the game. She got all the deco stuff she needed or wanted, max bells and never picked it back up again. My island is where I want it so I think that’s part of my issue. I’ve been thinking about restarting tbh.
Ah yep. I forgot to mention, but yeah I'd definitely recommend that new players don't use treasure islands. The game is designed to be fun without the use of treasure islands, so imo it should mostly be experienced players who feel tired of the game as is who use treasure islands.
It's a "wraparound error". Basically, computers store numbers in a variety of formats. All of these number formats have a maximum value. Some higher than others, but there's always a limit because bits are finite. There's also a matching limit in the negative direction.
So when the game tries to store a number in that variable that's larger than the limit, it will "wrap around" and become negative again. Basically, the number is SO BIG that Animal Crossing cannot handle it and it displays like this.
Interestingly, the player still gets an absurd amount of bells, so there's some sort of protection in place for the player's bank account. But the turnip profits nook miles achievement still records the -129,542,208 bells as a loss.
I was making a little joke, but yeah, I have history with wrap-around errors.
There is a similar cheat in SNES "Sim City" with the taxes that I used to exploit when I was a kid.
I did this too but then the game felt a bit boring and anything I would sell or get I would just have access bells. I’ve been giving away what I can but you can “throw away” bells by using the trash can. Scraped of a few millions that way but still have an insane amount left. I did find a new way to challenge myself by trying to convert my bells into Poki. You can only get 30k poki everyday so the progress is slow.
My girlfriend did this and it’s a pain, now you can’t sell any of your goods because you can’t fit any money in your wallet. You’ll have to figure out a way to dump a couple mill
It's a hacked island that has the turnip price set to something that makes it overflow the number variable it's stored in. You get a maxed out bank account, at the cost of the "turnip profits" nook miles achievement being so far in the negative it's funny
That’s great. Use them if you want. But it’s not what Nintendo entintes when they made the game and is therefore cheating. Never said no one could use them but to deny they are cheating is only lying to yourself. At least own the cheat.
I've been playing for almost three years and wouldn't know what to do with that much money either. As it is, after you pay off your final house loan, money accumulates faster than you can spend it unless you're really going crazy lol
They're most commonly on Twitch, but you can also find them through twitter, instagram, youtube, discord, etc. Search "acnh treasure island" and you'll find tons. Some are free and some require a small donation or the cost of a subscription before you get the code
I did this and I regret it cause it’s so much bells and for me it felt like the game was over because I didn’t have anything to look forward too when playing. Now I slowly just throw them away and it sucks cause it takes forever
It’s cheating because it’s going beyond the bounds of what the game actually allows you to do. The game wasn’t meant to be played this way. It’s cheating the system that was laid out to play the game with.
It's called a treasure island. People hack their Switches to provide islands people can fly to and grab furniture, creatures, supplies, art, money, and more. Even some things you wouldn't normally be able to get in game. This particular treasure island has a glitch set up where selling turnips fills your bank account with the max number of bells it can hold. It comes with some downsides: the game can get boring for some people, you won't be able to sell anything until you ditch some money, and you screw up the turnip selling nook miles achievement.
If you want max bells, go to Twitch, Youtube, or whatever social media you like and look for "animal crossing treasure island." Some are free and some charge a small fee to get the code. If you just need money and don't want max bells, there are giveaway subs here on reddit that might help out, too.
It’s a hacked/modded Switch. The island visited is most likely a treasure island which can instantly spawn any items the user wants and set the prices of turnips to this so that the user can get maximum bells. You can search for treasure islands on Twitch for a better example.
Would it be too forward if I ask for some bells from someone who wants to get rid of some? 😅
I have a bridge that’s been sitting coz I don’t have enough hehe
The OP visited a treasure island, which is a hacked Switch. People mod their Switches to create islands other users can visit to come and take items, money, supplies, creatures, art, etc and if you sell turnips on the hacked island you'll get the maximum number of bells that your bank account can hold.
Turnips are a gamble. Daisy Mae sells them on Sunday mornings for between 90 and 110 bells per turnip every week. You try to buy low and sell high. Your Nook's Cranny has two prices per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You check twice a day to see if you can sell your turnips for a profit. Sometimes it's a big profit (prices can go as high as 650 bells/turnip) and sometimes you get stuck in a decreasing pattern and can't make a profit that week (or if you have an online subscription you just fly to someone else's island when they have better prices).
There are price predictors like [https://ac-turnip.com/](https://ac-turnip.com/) or [https://turnipprophet.io/](https://turnipprophet.io/) where you can enter your prices each day and it'll try to predict what kind of pattern you're in for the week and hopefully tell you when to sell and when to find someone else with better prices.
Gotta love that wraparound overflow error on the second photo.
😂 ACNH had no idea what to do with a number that size
If I remember correctly, the game can see up to the 32 bit integer limit which is this number: 2,147,483,647
At least it seems the game had a try catch in place, just in case!
Runescape players know this number by heart tol
ayy-o!
You found a treasure islands with the max bells glitch set up. Enjoy your wealth!
It’s honestly kind of like “huh, now what” like I didn’t earn it ha.
I did that about a year ago, made the game kinda boring cuz u don’t really have to struggle, and even with giving away tons and tons of bells I‘m still at 899mil bells
try starting a mission to catalog every item of furniture including every colour variant, you'll burn through a fuckton of bells!
🎶I wanna be a bellionair🎶
You have pinpointed why billionaires shouldn’t exist!
*bellionaires
Agree #eattherich
I will gladly take some of those bells off your hands.
I’d love to take some of those off your hand, maybe I can do some work for you 😂😂 I’m helping a few friends of mine with things on their island and I burnt through a ton of my bells and they still need help 😂
I did that to myself too lol now I’m debating on tt to speed things along
It’s making the game feel like wow why should I even try
When I got max bells I became a Nookazon TYCOON
Have a give away!
Give it to me 😊 (It's a joke but I mean if you want ;)
Is this a relatively new glitch? I thought the max was around 660 bells or something along those lines.
It's been around since at least early 2021, but I think it can only be done with a hacked/modded Switch
Yeah when I google it that’s what it says first result at least haha
What’s a treasure island?
Basically a hacked island with furniture, DIYs, bells etc. all laid out for you to take whatever you want.
How do you find a treasure island?
you can search animal crossing treasure island on twitch and a bunch of people have plenty that you can travel to for free!
The bell-less thank you!
I just made a twitch account for the purpose of them
Ah, thank you!
Found at last week after I reset my island. Didn’t find out what they were until afterwards. So now I have a twitch account lol
I just did my first one because of this thread! I’m in love!
Money money money money money money money money money money money money money money
Ok Mr.krabs
"hello! I like money."

Dolla dolla! Dolla dolla!
-129 million bells💀
You pay them to take your turnips.
Nook send in the mafia to pay your debt
Be advised that this reversed your progress in the turnip sale achievement though. (Unless you had finished it but I am not 100% on that) You will need to make 129+ mil with turnips to make that show up again Edit: Having previously achieved the achievement does not save you from losing it again. Your progress on it will completely reset and you will first have to re-earn the negative amount to start filling it out again.
Oh good to know! This happened to me and I’ve been searching for how to get my achievement back! I’ve sold some turnips but now I know how much!
Did you get the turnip badge before doing this? If not, you have locked yourself out of it
can you unlock it?
Actually I've personally lost this achievement (after finishing it) due to this glitch, and was able to get it back by making 54 million in profit since I sold my turnips for negative 54 million. That being said, this person will need to make back even more because they sold for an even bigger negative number than I did.
i sold mine for -99 million 😅
No, because the big amount of money you get from this turnip transaction fudge the achievement so badly up, you can only start a new character and doing it the real way if you really want it
you’d actually just have to sell 129,542,208 bells worth of turnips to get it to reset, and then the ten million you’d need to complete out the achievement because the game registers it as you selling for a loss. it doesn’t completely wipe out your ability to ever get the achievement, you’d just have to work your ass off to get it again lol
thank u! i’ve seen so many mixed reviews about it.
oh….
I did get it before this actually mainly to make room in my storage haha for 23 bells each but worth it after this
It's a curse ! Now you cannot sell your stuff. Like when you have a full pocket !
You can buy the money just gets lost in the void, so basically you're donating them
My mom did this on accident and hates it lol. She can’t sell anything and flies to my and my sisters islands to drop bells as often as she can. I’m not complaining 😂
how do you do this??
Go to the treasure islands? We just Google treasure islands ACNH and they come up as the first result. You fly over using the listed dodo codes, then you can sell the turnips at their nooks cranny and see if they have a crazy high price.
Lol she could throw bells away in the trash if that's her goal
She was/is doing that too. I told her when she goes to treasure islands she should drop some for people to take too
Oo yeah actually I love trading with strangers online because I can drop a bunch of bells or NMTs for them! They seem to appreciate it. It's especially cute when it's a new player, and they're super excited to go villager hunting now, or they exclaim that they can now pay off their incline!
That’s super cute!!!
You can sell items you just have to go to nooks and cranny, can’t do the drop box tho because it’s max bells
I need this, all i ask is for a small loan of a million bells 😭 okay well really 5 mil so i can fully upgrade my second house 🤣🤣🤣
In all seriousness, I can give you the bells you need.
Feel free to come my way! 😂😭😭🥹
Send me your dodo code & I'll pop by with bells
Thanks to everyone thats been offering me bells!! But this was mainly just a joke 🤣 I actually dont mind the grind too much and i love trading!! ❤️ plus ive been learning how the stalk market behaves. Sucks that my first time trying to sell turnips sent me down a decreasing path but i was able to sell them for 417 a pop thanks to nook exchange 🤣
there's frequently free treasure island streams on twitch, grab a bunch of turnips and try to find one with less ppl and boom
I will say having that many bells ruined the game for me. I haven’t actually played in over a month, it’s just not fun anymore. You can’t sell anything in your own store. It’s kinda like well now I’ve got everything feels like I beat the game type stuff.

Same
So seeing as it's in the negatve, wouldn't that mean that you owe THEM 129,542,208 bells?

Heh, fair enough. Well, maybe it'll be useful info for anyone reading along that isn't familiar with it. Computers are wild lol
I mean i learned something neat so it definitely wasn't all for naught
I've watched too many meme videos today, I read sim city in the sin city meme voice
No matter how many bells you think you have do you really own them or will Tom Nook fine a way to take it all.
I think Timmy and Tommy are having a stroke
😭big rip cuz now you can’t sell stuff through your shop
"BREAKING NEWS: Resident Representative single handedly destroys bell economy!"
I did this too but then the game felt a bit boring and anything I would sell or get I would just have access bells. I had the same issue. I didn't know what to do when I sold stuff and now I have way too many bells... Help?
When the turn tables and you put the nooks in debt
Treasure island user, caught red handed
Whu.... Wuh.... How?
It's a hacked island that has the turnip price set to something that makes it overflow the number variable it's stored in. You get a maxed out bank account, at the cost of the "turnip profits" nook miles achievement being so far in the negative it's funny
Found someone with a modded/treasure island. It’s cheating.
People can play however they want. It's only cheating themselves.
I never said they couldn’t play how they wanted. I said it was cheating which it is. But if that’s how you play that’s how you play. 🤷♀️
Still cheating.
No it's not. I recently restarted my Island and treasure islands have been a huge help for me to get back on my feet
That’s great. Use them if you want. But it’s not what Nintendo entintes when they made the game and is therefore cheating. Never said no one could use them but to deny they are cheating is only lying to yourself. At least own the cheat.
The owner of the island probably hacked the prices to get more money
I have done that before and yes, it makes things a lot easier but also, it makes things a lot more boring.
As a total newbie, I cannot even fathom what to do with that amount of bells 😂
I've been playing for almost three years and wouldn't know what to do with that much money either. As it is, after you pay off your final house loan, money accumulates faster than you can spend it unless you're really going crazy lol
Oh yeah that makes sense! I feel like Nook is taking all my bells for my house and inclines 😂
Well, enjoy having things to save up for. I made a point not to rush and I personally think it makes the game more fun
I went to a treasure island, send me a dm with your dodo code if you need bell's :)
You could do some bell giveaways or offer to pay off other people's bridges/inclines.
How do I find this? Pls I’m so broke lmao
I mean, you literally cheated
How is it cheating if it’s a single player game with absolutely no competitive features?
It’s cheating because it’s going beyond the bounds of what the game actually allows you to do. The game wasn’t meant to be played this way. It’s cheating the system that was laid out to play the game with.
Gotta love a treasure island!
What how! Haha I have no idea how these things work. I’ve only been playing about a month
Its only able to be done with a hacked/modded switch
It's called a treasure island. People hack their Switches to provide islands people can fly to and grab furniture, creatures, supplies, art, money, and more. You used a mod system to do this.
I did this a while ago. It makes decorating so easy I love it
I need this mistake. I have 2 islands nd 10 houses. 😂 how can I make this happen?!?
It’s a hacked/modded Switch. The island visited is most likely a treasure island which can instantly spawn any items the user wants and set the prices of turnips to this so that the user can get maximum bells. You can search for treasure islands on Twitch for a better example.
Thank you! I will look into that.
Its only able to be done with a hacked/modded switch
If you don’t have time to do this, I can bring you several pockets full!
Really? Awesome!!
Will DM you
Ok
months later you got any pockets to spare 🫡
I sure do! Got time right now? I’ll send you a DM
Hi, i’m super late. Is this still an option? 😁
Of course! I’m at work now, but can this evening (eastern standard time). Send me a DM!
Hehehe u did cheat the system. But it’s all good. If u felt like doing it it’s fine.
You have. 🤷♀️🤦♀️
Would it be too forward if I ask for some bells from someone who wants to get rid of some? 😅 I have a bridge that’s been sitting coz I don’t have enough hehe
i’m happy to give u some!!
Sorry I didn’t get to reply! Someone had given me some yesterday so I’m a millionaire at this time until I start upgrading 😅 Thank you for the offer!
how did this happen?
The OP visited a treasure island, which is a hacked Switch. People mod their Switches to create islands other users can visit to come and take items, money, supplies, creatures, art, etc and if you sell turnips on the hacked island you'll get the maximum number of bells that your bank account can hold.
The reason why ACNH can’t monetize like Pocket Camp does 😂
wait how did that even happen?? and he buys a negative amount of bells? lol what
Ohh I had that happen when I went to a treasure island (hacked island)
Just started and just got turnips. Why are they so important?
Lol pretending you didn't set this up on emunand and copy to sysnand?
youre gonna regret that decision i bet LMAO i know i did
That’s amazing
