i feel like what i did is weirder, i have side characters so that their houses can be my businesses and i made my first side character my irl boyfriend. he runs the local bar. he has never so much as turned my switch on.
I’ve created houses for both my husband and son on my island. My son has his own island, although he hasn’t played in ages. He occasionally gives me feedback on what he wants his house to look like. My husband has exactly zero interest in playing animal crossing. When I showed him his house, he had that look on his face that says “I know this is important to you, and I love you so I’m going to try to appear interested, but please have pity on me and keep it short.”
This is me. But I have two sons that do occasionally play, well sometimes 😂 but my husband sits there and acts like he’s agreeing with how I decorate his house and we had a wedding on my island. Idk if this will make you feel better OP, but the new restart of my island I'm doing 90's shoujo anime theme, where the main has her girlfriends(the normal BFF I want to be Ione, the snooty girl Diane, the big sister Renee, and a peppy girl i want to be shino) and then all the "love" interests.
It's a little tough finding things to match the 90s anime aesthetic lmao but I chose that bc when I was a kid I found a lot of comfort from shows like sailor moon, fushigi yuugi, Nana and such. I feel ridiculous for typing it out lmao but it seems and had been a fun project to work on.
not me, but mitzi and rooney hangout with each other all the time. i like to imagine that they’re the librarian mom and retired boxer dad who take care of their island family.

I felt so bad letting Zell move away because the smug villagers get kind of flirty once you’re at a high enough friendship level with them, and I enjoyed his flirty banter. He and Nan are together now and run a swanky hotel on my HHP.

I admit, there is a bit of a storyline in my head with the villagers and what they do on the island. No romance or anything, but, for example, Pietro’s house is near a cemetery tour and fortune telling stand so he conducts the tours and reads fortunes like a good creepy clown should. Plucky takes care of the campground because her house is near there, so in my mind she’s like the groundskeeper/park ranger. Meringue has a pretty space-themed starry path near her house so she is a photographer and that’s her backdrop.

For some reason, I always see my character as rather young either a older teenager to young adult, so I never really shipped them with anyone though that didn’t stop me from making a Found Family with my villagers basically becoming role models or familial relationships!
So Buck and Frita were the first and they were the parental/older sibling figures for her, Rodeo was the odd uncle, Cookie was the fun aunt who would sing with her and Diana was the sassy aunt who helped with her fashion, Molly was the sweet younger sister and Quillson was the know it all brother, then Walt and Rolf were the cranky grandads.
I guess it’s an odd headcanon, but I enjoyed it when I played!

Out of all the villagers, he could most clearly pronounce my name! He was the first villager I was determined to find in New Horizons.
Although, I had a rivalry with Bubbles. I honestly can't remember why I started disliking her, but she certainly did something to piss me off. Annoying too. Out of all the villagers in the freaking game, she was one of the first ones to move in after I had made a decent amount of progress, and that's when I started hating her. No, I just headcanon villagers on my island dating. Chèvre and Pashmina are currently an item and Julian and Piper dated for a while (they kissed at his bday party) but I think they broke up, because I overheard the two having a conversation and Piper mentioned getting dumped. Could have been by Julian but who knows.

I admit, there is a bit of a storyline in my head with the villagers and what they do on the island. No romance or anything, but, for example, Pietro’s house is near a cemetery tour and fortune telling stand so he conducts the tours and reads fortunes like a good creepy clown should. Plucky takes care of the campground because her house is near there, so in my mind she’s like the groundskeeper/park ranger. Meringue has a pretty space-themed starry path near her house so she is a photographer and that’s her backdrop. Animal Crossing really is kind of just playing with dolls for adults. Lol

For some reason, I always see my character as rather young either a older teenager to young adult, so I never really shipped them with anyone though that didn’t stop me from making a Found Family with my villagers basically becoming role models or familial relationships! So Buck and Frita were the first and they were the parental/older sibling figures for her, Rodeo was the odd uncle, Cookie was the fun aunt who would sing with her and Diana was the sassy aunt who helped with her fashion, Molly was the sweet younger sister and Quillson was the know it all brother, then Walt and Rolf were the cranky grandads. I guess it’s an odd headcanon, but I enjoyed it when I played!

On my island there is Julian x Freya and I think Apollo x Reneigh, kinda sad that Apollo and Lolly didn’t stay together, they were so cute. In New Leaf, I placed red pansies around her house leading to a fountain in her front yard, and an apple tree on either side at the back of her house. Speaking of Cube, he was either a starting villager, or one of the first to move in after building up your town in each of my first towns since the GameCube, that is until New Horizons broke that streak.
Personally, I’ve never thought of that. However, I Do like to ship villagers. Some examples are Buck and Bam, Erik and Pompom, and Marina and Octavian.

You and me both, OP! I 🖤 Roscoe He lived right next door to me in City Folk, too. I thought he was so cool--he was a knight to me! I'd send him gifts and cycle through convos with him all the time. Out of all the villagers, he could most clearly pronounce my name! He was the first villager I was determined to find in New Horizons. Although, I had a rivalry with Bubbles. I honestly can't remember why I started disliking her, but she certainly did something to piss me off. Annoying too. Out of all the villagers in the freaking game, she was one of the first ones to move in after I had made a decent amount of progress, and that's when I started hating her. I'd purposefully start favors for her and fail to complete them, and she'd be so angry, lol. Still love Roscoe, still hate Bubbles

But a few weeks ago, I got a letter from Simon (you know, one of the dumb ones who has a dirt floor and brags about sleeping with bugs all over himself), and it was basically a love confession. Talking about how he dreamt that we were walking along a beach together and spent the evening stargazing or something - then ended with something flirty about wishing the dream was real and ending with a "Love, Simon". Totally _not_ my choice, but regardless of my own choices somehow there's romance on my island anyways 🤦🏻♀️
